On the Grid : Levure Bakery & Patisserie

"A distinctive french bakery clean in design but inviting in nature. We’d have said the butter croissants were the stars if they hadn’t excelled at so much more including vibrant macaroons and rustic breads. Everything here is labor and love intensive so come early. If it’s out it’ll be out till the next day." - A Civil Fox

Simply delicious! I love a place that caters to dietary restrictions. From the goat cheese omelette to the dairy free muffins. Love love loved my Chai latte with almond milk and I have a secret to share....the best part of my meal was the toast! That let's you know how good the food was😋😋

Google
Beautifully crisp, caramelized pastry. The baked goods are HUGE. Levure offers a delightful selection of viennese pastries and western classics. The sugar free gluten-free churro muffin was surprisingly delicious and the kouign amann was to die for!! I also recommend the almond croissant.

I had been here once before and each time my meals have been tasty. The staff is amazing at suggesting and helping you get your taste buds filled 😉very knowledgeable about their menu Faves for today : Garden sauté breakfast 🍳 Nutella croissant (big and yummy) Large cappuccino (wow) I love that you can hang with a group of friends or just come in and catch a breathe alone 🙌🙌

Google
This is in my top 2 places for great coffee and huge cinnamon buns! Such a great place, very nice people and good service. The cinnamon bun was the highlight for me and it was so good, I dragged the others here 4 days out of 7 during our trip. Superb morning coffee and a giant pastry to go with it - best way to start the day in my opinion! So so impressed with Levure, well done to the staff that work here. Also, the freshly baked baguettes are pretty much sold out by 1030am and Levure opens at 1000am. There is other food here but I never got past ordering a cinnamon bun and a latte...

Google
I am a local to this location. Have been hundreds of times. Customer service is the number one issue. It is beyond terrible. Today we bought 25 dollars worth of pastries to go. Then sat down to eat. After sitting at table for 20 minutes with no service we got up and left. This is not the first time. So if you planning on a nice service oriented experience spend your money at the kitchen in the woodlands. You wont be let down.

Google
I was initially skeptical of this place based on prior reviews. I was looking for a place with “cheffy” food choices in a great atmosphere. I’m glad I looked into the reviews and decided to give it a go. It was great! In fact I came back today after my initial visit yesterday. What I had today was fantastic as well. Definitely a place worth supporting!

Google
Came here to try a new (to us) bakery in The Woodlands. Nice location and ambiance. Nice selection of items. Disappointed with some of our selections. The Morning Bun lacked the orange flavor expected and did not appear to have been made fresh. The Croissant with Gravy was really good and hot. The Waffle was good as well. Refills on our lemonade was not offered. The prices were a bit high compared to high end bakeries, even those in New York and San Francisco. Over all, food was good but not a value.

Google
Been coming here for years to sketch in the morning with my dog. staff is nice, and the food is yummy. My favorite is the AM Crunch :)

Yelp
The coffee and morning bun were delicious!!!! Wasn't a big fan of the roasted sandwich though. The filling inside was overcooked and had no spread inside the sandwich! But. Loved all the sugar free items they carry! Such a hit

Yelp
horrible quiche I could not eat it so many pinions. No offered to refund or discount something or offer a muffin nothing....they did not care!!!

Yelp
Such a cute spot! Came here for a bridal shower and it's the first cafe/bakery. It's located in a shopping strip area with a great overview of the lawn.

Yelp
We enjoyed our weekend brunch at this cosy spot. The place was packed on arrival and it was challenging to get a table (order at the counter and tables are first come first serve) but we managed to get one inside just as it began to pour with rain - phew! The omelette was nice, I loved the salad dressing and the sourdough toast was delicious, buttered and crisp. My flat white coffee with almond milk was yum. We also ordered smoked salmon avocado toast, very tasty and fresh. The cinnamon roll was enormous, the taste was ok but it was a bit on the dry side for me. Kids French toast and chocolate chip pancakes looked yummy too. The counter style ordering and table wait was the only thing that we didn't love about our visit - we were ordering our food with no table and just hoping one would become free. They could do with a better system for this on busy days. All in all a great spot though and we will be back!

Yelp
Amazing experience! Great cappuccino, complete breakfast menu, with a large variety, including sourdough breads and toast...My favorite is the Croque Madame, Croissants with eggs and sausage and to finalize with a delicious Kouign Aman. Amazing staff service and cool ambience. Free filtered water!!!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best in The Woodlands. Pretty popular amongst the locals. Proper baguettes. Get there early because they sell out fast. Cakes are on the dry side though. Maybe a shower of simple syrup before icing? Customer service is on par. Coffee is on point. Can get a little congested but overall muy bueno.

Yelp
The place is clean and cozy! We love the latte with half and half! The staff is helpful and very nice! Since our favorite breakfast place closed, we came to Levure with high expectations, and none of them were disappointed! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax. We will definitely be coming back to Levure again soon!

Yelp
Fresh and delicious pastries. The palmier is my favorite. The dining room is very airy and well lit.

Yelp
We love their sourdough bread and croissants are delicious. A very nice bakery..great locaction.

Yelp
Did a quick search on Yelp to look for an authentic bakery. While the stars did not reflect in my opinion the quality of the food, the pictures did catch my attention. I decided to try it and....wasn't I blown away! The bakery is located in a very nice affluent area where people walk their dogs and families enjoy the beautiful settings of the area. The place was jammed packed with each table was occupied and colored by beautiful, fresh, and generous dishes that emanated a captivating odor. The bakery exposed freshly baked croissants, cinnamon rolls, muffins and much more. I visually wanted to order everything they had but I had originally stopped by to order a cappuccino and croissant. The chocolate chip croissant (crookie) was flaky and and fresh, just as I used to have it in Florence, Italy. The cappuccino had a beautiful decorative design, it was served on a mug (forget about the microplastics from those paper cups!) and the crema was just perfect. I supposed my croissant in the cappuccino and took a savoring bite bringing me back to my childhood days when I used to enjoy this type of breakfast at Il Revoire, in Florence, Italy! Their flour is imported so it is likely free of pesticides and better tolerated for those who are gluten sensitive. I then decided to get some sourdough bread and baguette for my 4 hour trip back home. I briefly spoke to the owner who was very appreciative and willing to start a conversation. Great ambience and no issues with the service. The food was served right away. I'll definitely bring back my family next time we are in tow

Catherine M.

Yelp
We stopped in briefly during our walk to get 2 small coffees at $7.00 and change, to go. Had to tell them they were to go 2 times. The woman making my coffee put her finger in it. Are you serious? This was so unsanitary . I brought the coffee home and threw it out. Needless to say, we will not be back anytime soon.

Yelp
$6 for this tiny dry almond muffin. There are other options in the neighborhood where you can actually have a good pastry for $6

Madina M.

Yelp
The whole group of us had an upset stomach after this place. Not sure what it was, coffee or salad, will not be going there again.

Yelp
Cute place, delicious food, and kind service! Ordered a nutella pastry and would've preferred to have it toasted, but everything else was delicious :)

Yelp
Boulangerie and Patisserie in The Woodlands! Yay! Levure is a wonderful Creekside Park Village Green staple that I hope remains for decades to come. Walking here for breakfast or dessert is an easy stroll from my front porch and is a no-brainer for butter-laden pastries and French classics like the Croque Madame and the phenomenal Kouign Amann Sandwich. For dessert, do not miss the rich Nutella Cruffin or the impossibly flaky Pan Chocolate. The cafe itself is charming, fresh, and airy. Outdoor tables remain full as the park-side view evokes a pleasantly quaint feel. Service was friendly and welcoming. I absolutely love this place :)

Yelp
I'm writing a review because the recent ones are absurd and false and I know how much honesty here matters for a business. As someone who's been coming to this hidden gem since it's opened I can tell you that's it's VERY hard to find quality in this area without having to travel to the Heights. This place is my favorite. High quality foods with impeccable ingredients; their croissants are AMAZING -worth the drive from any distance and red potatoes so yummy and unique, it's such a vibe for a low key delicious meal, work meeting/ lunch, study session, or solo trip. An atmosphere that's modern but definitely something you'd find in LA. I've never not been greeted with a smile. Shout out to the sweetest Angie for the best lattes btw because I used to literally just go for their coffee before I got an espresso machine lol Y'all are doing amazing! Please don't ever go anywhere.

Yelp
This morning, I felt like a French pastry and found this place. The blueberry muffin is excellent. However, the chocolate cursant and Americano coffee need some work. The chocolate cursant only had some chocolate (very little) on one side. The other side had almost none. The coffee had the flavor of second pass Kcup--you know when you forget to remove a previously used Kcup and you make a cup of coffee.

Yelp
Tasty pastries, a little on the pricier side. Nice little bakery and patisserie near the Creekside Forest neighborhood. They have a good variety of breakfast foods. The hot chai latte was $4.25 for 12 oz. It's a little sweet with good cinnamon flavor. Pan chocolate is very flaky and buttery, really satisfying, somewhere between $4-5. Adult scrambled eggs comes with toast and a salad for $11-12. Eggs are nice with cheese and peppers and onions, not too salty. Toast is buttered and has a nice crunch and chew. Salad is light, basically a greens mix topped with citrus dressing. Also tried the Nutella cruffin, which is also tasty. Everything here tastes good, it's just a little pricy (2 pastries for $11.50, though they're delicious and well executed).

Yelp
This place calls it's self a French bakery. EVERYTIME I come in to check for a diffferent bread there is only sourdough and the same offerings. This is NO where near being a real Bakery. Want to eat here? Hope you are rich because the prices are outrageous and the food in my opinion is good but not great. Have friends who like this place and I dread eating here because I actullay cook every single day and am good at it and I make better at home. This is a pretend French bakery. How do I know .... Actually lived in France fir over a year.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday a little after lunchtime. It was crowded, but not so where we couldn't find a table for four. The ambience felt nice and cozy. Very family friendly. Many families with their kids, including us. Although we came a little after lunchtime there were still pastries left to grab. We snatched up some pain au chocolat, Kouign-amann and one pastry that had Nutella inside. They were all so good. May even be better than common bond. For our main dish, I got the American breakfast and there was plenty of food. The sour dough bread that was served with it was amazing! Super crispy yet light and airy. The potato wedges, I will say was a bit undone and soft. Would have loved it if it was crispier. The menu shown on Yelp seems outdated. Because I was looking for the quinoa salad, and it was no where to be seen. Lastly, Service could have been better.

Yelp
If I could rate Levure Bakery & Patisserie a 100/100 as a Yelp review , I absolutely would! Located in the Tomball area of Houston, Levure sits between a plaza of shops that consists of a few other restaurants, yoga studios, etc. I'm not quite sure how I found this place, but I'm so glad that I did. The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a wall that contatains the beautifully chalk drawn menu. There are menu's at the counter as well, but I find the wall chalk drawn menu to be appealing! There's a fair amount of seating both indoor and outdoor, perfect for groups of 4-6, nothing more or else you may have to merge tables. The cleanliness is absolutely superb as well, with the said tables being bussed and cleaned almost IMMEDIATELY after guests leave ensuring customers are more than welcome to sit down instead of waiting for tables to be available. We ordered the Adult Grilled Cheese (sourdough, rajas, levure cheese blend), Brie Apricot & Ham Sourdough (smoked ham, triple cream brie, apricot compote, creole mustard), and two Oat Milk Cappuccinos. The Adult Grilled Cheese sandwich is hands down the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had; crunchy yet fluffly sourdough, loaded with mildly spiced veggies, a super yummy cheese blend, and it even came with a complimentary side salad which was fantastic as well! The Brie Apricot sandwich was also truly a great sandwich; spicy yet sweet, and the bread was so buttery and crunchy in the most perfect way possible. This sandwich also came with a complimentary salad! Point being, these were great meals that were definitely sourced fresh as can be! I must also point out that our meals came out pretty quickly along with our drinks. A personal pet peeve of mine at cafes are when you order a hot drink, and it's cold or almost finished by the time your food is served. I understand things can happen behind the scenes in the kitchen, so I truly appreciate Levure bringing out drinks the same time as the food so I can both sip and take bites! As a barista myself, I tend to be EXTREMELY critical on coffee, never expecting a truly "good" cup of joe, but Levure has proved me wrong. I didn't catch his name, but the gentleman working the espresso machine knows his stuff! The foam to milk and espresso ratio were absolutely on point! Our cappuccinos were both strong and yummy; no sugar needed! We decided to get pastries to go before we left because you can't go to a bakery and not get a pastry, right? We weren't sure what to get, however the lovely lady at the counter gave us suggestions and we settled on an Orange Muffin and Nutella Croissant. The Orange Muffin was great, and so was the Nutella Croissant! I even found out that they make their pastries daily, which made our sweet treats taste even better! I cannot wait to return back and try other menu items!

Steve S.

Yelp
Great food and coffee. Perhaps a little pricey, but quite tasty. Croissants are well worth the trip.

Yelp
2/18/24 Sunday at 11:45 - ordered 1 Flat White, 1 Cappuccino & their Pecan & Orange Muffins (gluten/dairy/sugar free). Outstanding bakery & espresso! If you're a seasoned coffee drinker as well as having high food standards, I don't believe you will be disappointed with this place. The coffees were made excellently, I prefer their style of flat white which has more milk. The espresso was brewed with skill. The real star of this order was their Gluten/Dairy/Sugar free muffins that were OUTSTANDING! My sister who is not gluten free was also impressed. The flavor, the density, the moisture was Chefs Kiss They bake everything on site, from scratch & you can see their kitchen behind the glass. Customer service was excellent, the vibe inside was good & nice outdoor seating as well with a small park for kids to play. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
We stop here every time we pass by! The fresh pastries and lattes are phenomenal! It is usually pretty busy but the service is quick! Love the atmosphere!

Yelp
My absolute favorite cafe in the area! Coffee is great, food is great, atmosphere is nice. Staff is pretty friendly but very busy. When it's busy, it's packed and it is very hard to find a table. The Kouign Amann Sandwich is my favorite but I've also had their pancakes and French toast and they're to die for!!! I don't think I've ever had anything bad here. I get their mocha and it's the perfect balance, also they do have alternative milks like oat milk.

Yelp
The lemon cake has no lemon taste. The only part of it that had any lemon taste was the thin slice on top of the cake. Tres leches was less moist than the lemon cake. Skip it - there are many other delightful places in the area.

Yelp
Delicious!!!!!!! I loved the freshly squeezed oh and there Nutella croissants were to die for !!! Diet what diet!!!!!

Yelp
Don't try to visit this place if it closes an hour before the schedule. This is like my fifth time to this place and none of what I'm going to describe has changed, so it is good time to leave a review in hope to get the manager's attention (hoping they care). First, don't attend to go to this place if it closes within an hour of time schedule. If you do, the impolite lady that works in the cash register will warm you, they will be closing in the amount of time left from the time schedule. Also, the smell of cleaning products is super uncomfortable. Remember, they start cleaning an hour before and half an hour before they clean floor and pick up the chairs outside. To me this is so rude and unpleasant. This procedure should be done once the café closes. I get it, you guys want to go home but starting cleaning and warming clients about the time it is just so rude and unacceptable. This lady has nice present, but she is lacking so much of customer services. It is been my fifth time here, and this lady has always acted that way. Second, why bringing a coffee splited every way? That is so baaaad. No! No people. That is NOT how you serve coffee. Pleaseee! Third, the coffee is okay and cold. When visited in the mid of the day the food is not that great. Too expensive for what you get. If you order pastries, they are huge and you can share with another person. They are also not that great just ok. This place is beautiful. It has a very pretty design and the location is wonderful but the management is bad. One thing that bothers me the most is about the the closing time. Don't go an hour before they close. You will get treated like if you are asking for free coffee and pastries.
google avatar

Bret B.

Yelp
We visit weekly for pastry, croissant & baguette. Best croissants I have had outside Paris. Levure has been working hard during pandemic in high rent area to continue to operate their business and making bakery items to make sure we smile and don't lose weight. Good folks!

Michael C.

Yelp
The food was good, better than average. But the whole place feels off. The young lady behind the counter was not helpful. The ambiance is noisy with a lot of loud voices reflecting off floors and ceiling. People grab the outside tables and stay for extended times without eating. The rest of the service was ok but just not helpful. You didn't feel welcome. This was our second time and probably our last time. It wouldn't take much to fix the problems but the staff/owners seem unaware or unconcerned.

Keely F.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and location however the food and pastries are not that great for the price. I'd go for coffee, not for food.
google avatar

Felix D.

Yelp
This patisserie is excellent. Love it. The coffee is always amazing, their baked goods are awesome, and the service is fantastic. That is why I'm giving the restaurant 5 stars. It deserves recognition. Now for the criticisms. 1. Far too many flies buzzing around the dining area. There is nothing appetizing about four flies next to your meal. That is not entirely the fault of the establishment, this season has been infernal for bugs. However I don't see a single fly catcher and so I have to put the impetus on the restaurant to do something about it. 2. The Adult Scrambled Eggs were awful in both presentation and taste. 50% cheese. 30% soggy peppers and soggy onions. 20% eggs. That was a single experience with the adult scrambled eggs on one occasion. Every other experience I've had here, especially their sandwiches, has been excellent and delicious. Overall experience over 10 visits? 9/10 The adult scrambled eggs need work. Lighter. Less is more. Please don't take the criticism as an indictment of the restaurant, simply of a single menu item.
google avatar

Kristina W.

Yelp
Okay. So this is reviewing chilaquiles. Lots of great flavors. I asked for a medium egg, it was a runny egg, but not actually a medium. They were soggy and undercooked. This made them chewy/gummy vs the crisp that's needed to keep their structure and great taste. I like the fresh ingredients but not the cook on them or the egg. Now, the baguettes are great, get one to go. The sourdough is awesome. Stick to the bakery side and it's a winner.

Yelp
I love the ambience it gives. I can totally enjoy this place with friends or family. Very welcoming and staff is very nice.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite brunch places! Their coffee is pretty good (I order an iced almond milk latte with cinnamon and honey) and their food is great. They're pretty heavy on the butter so we don't eat here often, but the sandwiches are yummy and the breakfasts are really good. I didn't like the adult scramble at all, but that's just me. It's a really small shop so seating can get super limited on busy days. They have a few tables outside which is wonderful when the weather is nice, and it's always quiet out there on the weekends.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
First time there. Great bakery stuff and coffees. Very friendly service and clean place.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place!! Best coffee and the cruffin is light and crispy with the perfect buttery deliciousness. Love the sandwich plates with that perfectly dressed side salad.

Yelp
Amazing food every time! Cute little spot that makes you feel like you are not in The Woodlands.

Yelp
As a recent transplant to the area for work, it's so much fun to visit Levure on my lunch break. It's always exciting to see what desserts they've made and take advantage of the Kouign-Amann (Or any other pastry!) they offer. Every member of the staff is extremely nice and willing to recommend or explain anything when asked. When you're looking for a nice place to sit and enjoy a sweet treat, or a place to pick up some coffee on your way back to the office, this is the place to go!

Amey N.

Yelp
This is my first time and I'm in absolute love with it all! The delicious food, the cleanliness, and the amazingly helpful and welcoming staff! Zoe helped me take my order today. I came in not even sure what I wanted for breakfast and what to drink. She was incredibly patient and helped me by going through the menu and coffees with me. 10/10 would recommend!
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Sipped half of our cups of coffee to the sound of vaccum cleaners, clanging tables and sweeping by our feet as other employees, no doubt eager to leave, eyed us with crossed arms. Mind you, it was 45 minutes to closing time. Don't let your employees run your business. They don't care about repeat business. Terrible.
google avatar

Diane H.

Yelp
Beautiful pastries, delicious breads, and a simple, incredible menu, just like a true Parisian restaurant. My favorite dish is the Brie Apricot and Ham on sourdough. To die for, it's so good. I love the pace of the restaurant, again, very French like. So grateful to have found a place replicating the French food and atmosphere. There's a bit of seating outside which overlooks a little park. Such a beautiful area and fabulous food. You can order pastries and breads to go or you can sit down and dine in. I prefer to eat outside, especially when the weather is nice. It's a small place and even the seating resembles a Parisian restaurant. I've had the same waitress for several years now and she's fabulous. The staff are all incredibly kind and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Food- I got a omelet with spinach, goat cheese and mushrooms and the omelette was exactly that, nothing else. Although it was somewhat bland, the ingredients were still good and the meal was enjoyable. I am no professional at ordering coffee so instead of trying to navigate the fancier drinks, I asked for a vanilla iced coffee with cream. For a bakery and coffee shop I expected better coffee, as what I got tasted watered down and lacking in a rich coffee flavor. To get the full experience, after my meal I went back in for a pastry to find that there were only a few options despite Levure being a self proclaimed bakery. I got some sort of caramel croissant which was what I needed to satiate my sweet tooth. Service- I found that the service was subpar given the fancy vibe that the cafe portrays. The barista was rude when I suggested that the coffee that she was making was for me. I was not expecting much from a cafe where you order at the counter and your food is simply brought to you, and the service did not impress or disappoint. Ambiance- the ambiance of the cafe was very nice, even on a Wednesday morning, it was full of happy people having conversations. They offer limited outdoor seating that gets some sunshine in the morning. There is also a lovely green lawn in front where you can eat your food or drink your coffee. I'm addition, Levure is in a great location and has very convenient parking just behind the cafe.

Liz R.

Yelp
Love the fact they make muffins that are healthy; naturally sweetened and also gluten free. Since they have a few tables I suggest cleaning quickly when customers leave since the flies come around. The food is good although I have gotten twice potatoes slightly undercooked for breakfast yet all the rest was perfect. We will come back due to their quality bakery and most of their food.
google avatar

Kathy P.

Yelp
Place was not well maintained.. cobwebs, dirt behind ice machine, open sugar, straws, etc. Place was not busy, staff members were not attentive.
google avatar

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Fabulous bakery & patisserie, with giant croissants and delicious egg scramble. Will definitely go again.
google avatar

Mirra C.

Yelp
The pastries are 5/5. The coffee is either pretty good or somewhat objectionable. The food is either 5/5 amazing or just completely heart-wrenchingly bland. It's French roulette. It's adorable for sitting in though, or meeting up with a friend. The employees are all peculiarly interesting and vaguely mysterious. Definitely try it out. Much to consider.
google avatar

Sydney L.

Yelp
This is technically a review for the Market Street location, but I have no doubt the Creekside location is just as good! I call their "Bon Cochon" sandwich the "magical ham sandwich". It's ham, goat cheese, arugula, tomato, and fig spread on lovely crunchy toasted bread served with their house salad. Seriously the BEST SANDWICH EVER. Good coffee and pastries, too!

Carol B.

Yelp
We had lunch there yesterday your looking at $20 for a fancy sandwich which comes with bread to chunky to eat and all the edges burnt. they cannot make a cappuccino more like a milky latte. Then as you're talking and one of your party puts down their cutlery and they whip away your plate when the others are still eating, very rude they are meant to be like a French bakery. Perhaps someone should take a trip to France and see how a real patisserie customers are treated, you can savior your meal relax and talk. Not here.
