I live in London but travel to Paris frequently. I have stayed at Hotel des Metallos several times previously; it has always been a good and reasonably priced option in a great upcoming area of central Paris, with many bars and restaurants close-by.||My most recent visit was a 3 night stay, from 29th April to 2nd May, 2025. I booked on the hotel's own website, at what I would consider to be "normal" rates, and with no information given of any works ongoing at the hotel.||I arrived on the afternoon of Tuesday 29th April, to find the hotel absolutely clad from top to bottom in scaffolding and plastic sheeting. Having made a non-refundable booking and with no other last-minute option, I proceeded with the check-in.||I was assigned a room on the 4th (top) floor, with full height windows and "French doors", which would ordinarily have had a view along the street. Instead there taped up windows, a view onto the scaffolding and the plastic sheeting, with everything dirty and absolutely covered in dust from an ongoing external refurbishment of the building. Despite this, I slept that night with one of the French doors slightly open, as I am someone who needs some fresh air in order to be able to sleep. Had I known about the works I would have booked elsewhere.||On the second night of my stay (night of 30th April), I again slept with one of the French doors slightly open. I was wakened by external noise at 03:45 that night, got up and opened the curtains, to be faced with two young men smoking on the scaffolding, 4 floors above ground level, just outside my bedroom window.||Upon discussing this the next morning with the man on reception, it was clear that no compensation would be provided; I was simply informed that i should have had my windows locked and used the air-conditioning!||On the morning of 2nd May, VERY loud works commenced immediately outside of my room at around 08:00, despite notices saying that work would commence no earlier than 09:30.||In my opinion, the owner of this hotel has absolutely no respect for his guests. As a minimum, the ongoing nature of this work and the fact that the hotel is clad in scaffolding and sheeting should be made clear on their website, so that a decision could be made on whether to stay there or not! My advice would be to totally avoid this establishment until at least August 2025, and thereafter to obtain clear confirmation that this work is finished.

No tea and coffee making facilities in room was disappointing for a 3* Hotel. Room was cleaned everyday and looked newly decorated.Refurbishment to outside of building meant the windows were covered up plus some noise disturbance.Location was especially good and near a metro station.

Stayed for 2 nights, bed was hard and pillows were uncomfortable, cleaning was not very good, towels still had hair residue from before. Location was good as very close to metro but overall subpar stay.

The room was pretty clean and the staff are nice. You should not expect much from breakfast. Downside was that i was staying at the first floor, which is right next to the street where people pass by -- could not open the curtain.

Good hotel - easy and quick check in, good size rooms for Paris, great location, safe area. Good wifi, bed and shower. Great value!

This place is not far from the tourist places as they are walkable. To me it’s like the best place as I love to walk. Able to walk to Belleville area, to Saint Martin canal and to the Latin quarter by footThe hotel seems to have undergone some renovation and looks new.

the room is very very small it barely takes our luggage and no room for baby crib, there were scaffoldings outside all the rooms and this blocked us from opening the windows to air our room

The hotel is in a hip neighborhood with great bars and restaurants. Close to the Metro too.Room #3 is pretty noisy at times. Mostly with people walking by and talking late into the night.Avoid this room if you are a light sleeper. The staff are mostly nice but wouldn’t or couldn’t change my room because of the noise. The room I was in is quirky with a small shower that is a step up. Clean enough though.

Yelp
I stayed here a few weeks back. I really have no complaints. The room was small but clean. Completely fine for an 8 day stay. My only complaint really was my room didn't have a small fridge for drinks and such. I would have liked a little something to keep a small amount of things cold. Snacks and the like. All of the staff I dealt with were courteous and helpful. Most spoke perfect English which is so helpful. The location is excellent. It was in what I consider walking distance of so much but the metro is just a short walk away. There is also a nearby street market open nearby Tuesday's and Fridays. (This is also where a small refrigerator would have come in handy) I would definitely stay here again if I find myself in Paris again.

Yelp
This was a brilliant place to stay, the rooms and hotel is new and modern. Sure some of the rooms are small by Paris standards they are fine and the shower is an amazing size one of the best features of the room! The shower was big enough to have a ménage à trois if you were having that type of holiday. The beds are super comfy and it's a great place to stay because of all the awesome locations to eat and drink in the area.

Yelp
I'd say generally this is a good all round option for a business or leisure trip. The location is excellent, within 3 minutes of the Oberkampf Metro, and it's surrounded by decent restaurants and other handy shops. What that all means is your trip can be fairly effortless and you can spend time doing what you want rather than trying to cope. The 'concept' I suppose is directed at travellers who want exactly that kind of minimal fuss, fair comfort and great location. Fixtures and fittings here are all good quality and, other than my safe, everything worked for me. Room cleaning is quick, efficient and discreet. It was nice each day to come back to a spotlessly cleaned room. Towels and toiletries are replaced daily. Staff in general were very helpful and pleasant and all spoke English. However, as noted by another reviewer, it does fall down a little on 'extras' (some might say 'essentials') like a small fridge (tho' noise could an issue in the smaller rooms), a kettle, cups, A/C, and such like. It's nice being able to make a simple tea or coffee in your room rather than have to go downstairs and get one from a machine. Likewise, it can work out expensive having to eat at cafes and restaurants because there's nowhere to store simple food items and keep them fresh for a day or two. After all, eating out in Paris, even for average meals, tends to be a little pricey with risk of disappointment. In Summer I also imagine the small rooms could get hot. I was here over Christmas and the room still felt too warm. In Summer it could be unbearable. Thankfully my stay was pretty quiet, but with rooms being so close together it could get noisy with the wrong guests and some bad luck. Yes, they say the rooms are well sound proofed, but my experience was that only goes so far. Doors opening and closing are noisy due to the mechanism. No worse than most places but do pack earplugs if you're a sensitive sleeper just in case. All things considered tho', for my five night stay, I was happy enough. I might well stay again if I went back to Paris, but probably not during a hot Summer.
