"Parallel Lanes of Shopping Nirvana in the Center of Town Smack dab in the center of the bustling financial district, these parallel lanes are lined with shops with a row of stalls running down the middle of each street. The twin shopping strips are packed with discounted clothes of all kinds, plus shoes, bags, and costume jewelry. The colorful, frenetic scene is part of the shopping experience, and unlike other cheap and cheerful street markets in Hong Kong, this one is centrally located. No schlepping to the far corners of the island to satisfy retail impulses. Pick up silk, leather, watches, Chinese outfits for kids, and all manner of souvenirs."
I would advise people to only purchase from the vendors on the street. I went to a souvenir shop in a building and one of the workers stood next to me the entire time I shopped. We were shoulder to shoulder. When I moved to a different section she backed off some. Then when I asked her in Mandarin (I heard her speaking it earlier) if I could use my card she left me alone completely.
I have been to Hong Kong many times so it is always alarming to me when people assume I will steal. This incident was especially frustrating because multiple people came in/out while I was there but none of them had a babysitter like I did. Long story short, avoid the enclosed shop on the street!
