9 of the best restaurants in Singapore for authentic Teochew cuisine - SilverKris

"Originally founded in 1974 and relocated from the old Ellenborough Market, this unassuming MacPherson Road spot delivers a cosy, family‑friendly mix of traditional and contemporary Teochew dishes. Signature items include pomfret cooked two ways, Teochew braised cabbage with dried scallop and braised duck with beancurd, while more modern additions such as salted egg chicken and Mami pork ribs broaden the appeal." - Joy Fang

Excellent Teochew food. Must try their steam soon hok if you are a fish lover. Even better than those 5star restaurants. Very reasonably priced restaurant that I visit almost every week.

Liang Kee Teochew Restaurant offers a classic Teochew dining experience. The menu features traditional dishes, and while the flavors are reliable, they don't necessarily stand out. The restaurant itself is quite small. Inside, there are only about four air-conditioned tables. The majority of the seating is outdoors, which gives it a more casual, open-air feel.

I recall visiting this place at Havelock a long time ago, but a casual drive recently made me notice they had moved to MacPherson. Goot thing too because MacPherson is closed to home. The family dropped in recently to catch a quick dinner before some drinks nearby. In the words of my wife, the food tastes clean, unadulterated, and doesn't overwhelm with seasoning, and I totally agree with her. Then again, aren't these the hallmarks of truly traditional Teochew cuisine? To not over-season the food so that the natural taste shines through? Well. The food tastes Good here, and you don't come away after a meal feeling parched and dry in the mouth. The candle on the cake has got to be the really nice wok-hei infused Chye Por Kway Teow! Just the right amount of preserved radish, and fried rice perfection with burnt ends to boot. Ok. You may be wondering why 4 stars if that good ya? Well. One of my favourite dishes in any Teochew place is fried liver rolls, but they don't have these here. Whenever I eat anything Teochew, and this dish is missing from the menu, I go home with a tinge of disappointment, because I simply Love It. The sambal crayfish was good, albeit missing the punch you usually get with a stronger whack of sambal and chilli, but I guess for those who auccumb easily to numbing spices, this is a welcome relief. In all, we had a good meal, and will likely be back for more.

Service staff is friendly and polite, Food taste great, steamed pomfret is fresh as it doesn’t have fishy taste, braised duck is tender, chai po kway teow has wok hei taste, pork rib is tender, the orh nee is super good! It is a small cosy restaurant with limited tables and overall it was a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience for our family.

Noisy environment with a pesky fly attacking us all the time even though seated indoors with aircon. Service was ok and staff were polite. Food was great and cold crabs were expensive but very fresh. Yam paste excellent.

I recently dined at Liang Kee Teochew Restaurant and was truly impressed! The fresh steamed fish was a standout—perfectly cooked, flaky, and full of flavor. It’s clear they prioritize quality ingredients. The braised duck was equally fantastic. Tender and rich with a delicious sauce, it was a dish I won’t forget anytime soon. Both dishes were beautifully presented and paired perfectly with rice. But what truly made our experience memorable was the exceptional service. When some tea was accidentally spilled on us, the staff immediately apologized and offered us a complimentary yam paste dessert. It was a thoughtful gesture that turned a minor mishap into a delightful moment. Overall, I highly recommend Liang Kee Teochew Restaurant for its delicious food and outstanding service. I can’t wait to return for another meal!

Beneath the exterior of this old-school Teochew restaurant lies a solid authentic Teochew menu. The place was 80% full when we visited, and when I saw that many of the clientele were elderly Teochew folks and their family, I knew the food would not disappoint. Indeed, the dishes were flavourful without being oily, and the portions were good value for money. I especially recommend the braised duck, the seafood horfun and the deep fried yam. Service was thoughtful and warm despite the crowd. Liang Restaurant is worth many repeat visits!

If you are looking for a good 👍Teochew Restaurant here in Singapore 🇸🇬, look no further, Liang Kee should be at the top of your list 📋. They have been around for a very long time and were previously located at Havelock Road and in 2020 relocated to Macpherson. They refine the act of cooking 🥘unique Teochew dishes like their Pomfret 🐟, Teochew Braised Duck 🦆, Claypot Sea Cucumber, Double-shell Cold Crab 🦀….etc Whatever you order, it is almost guaranteed to be well cooked and our parents 🧓🏻👴🏻 will fully agree to that. Staff are experienced, friendly and helpful. Always with a smile, helped with our wine 🍾that we brought, served us, gave an extra chair for my wife handbag 👜….etc It is nice to experience service at this level considering the age of the restaurant. We tried several dishes on this visit and all of them are of exceptional quality. Really delicious and very well cooked and prepared! Check out my pic although it doesn't do them justice! Highly recommend the Pomfret, Duck and Slipper Lobsters! Only issue would be they are located along the road and the only parking 🅿️ is at a Macpherson Public Carpark 🚗50m away. Would suggest you make a reservation, come early and try to park there and walk back. #greatteochewresturant
