Liberté

It was truly impossible to walk by without being drawn in by the aroma of freshly baked, crisp, and wonderfully delicious bread. Each loaf brought back memories of childhood, when bread was crafted lovingly by human hands. I wish there were a little bakery just around the corner. Liberte Bakery is an absolute delight — highly recommended. I even couldn’t resist bringing some loaves back to London! Hopefully see you soon!

The bakers at Liberté have perfected their croissant-making skills. The croissant felt so soft that it melted in my mouth. The pain au chocolat was delightful as well. The blue latte was a good addition to the meal, tied everything perfectly. Very friendly staff and overall an amazing experience on our trip.

Loved this place. A short walk from our hotel so breakfast each morning was a quick trip down the road and was it worth it. Pain au chocolat fabulous, coffee delicious, a great way to start the day. Will certainly return when next in Paris. Staff are super friendly and my huge thanks to endure my poor spoken french. :-).

It was breakfast on my daughter's birthday. Everything was wonderful and delicious! The hosts were so hospitable that they helped with candles for the birthday girl. Thank you!

Wide range of pastries I ordered pumpkin spice latte and I think a received the golden milk ( which I didn’t like)

Tried this boulangerie/pastry shop because of all the recommendations online. Not worth it at all in my opinion. I took a vinnoiserie Pistache almond and a Quiche with salmon. Both were ok but nothing exceptional.

Everything was so tasty! Definitely must visit!!! Also, workers are so welcoming and chill 😄 so lucky to have classes nearby

At home I generally stick to a breakfast regimen of scrambled eggs, rice, chorizo, veggies, & fruit. However, my adventurous wife suggested that I break my habit and eat like the French. Conveniently located five minutes away from our hotel, we made the trek to Liberté for coffee and breakfast. During a previous visit, my wife and I ordered coffees and she ordered a baguette (at the time I had a yogurt parfait in our room). However, during our second visit I promised her that I would venture out and try one of their delicacies. Similar to our first visit, the establishment did not have a line; however, as the friendly employee behind the counter greeted us, a line began forming behind us (look at us being trendsetters). We proceeded to order the following: two cafe lattes, danish (wife), and I ordered the Cheesecake au citron. The Cheesecake au citron was chef's kiss (I do not use this phrase lightly). So delicious, my wife (who is very picky when it comes to sweets) found it to be scrumptious and suggested that we should return so that she could order one for herself (I hope you didn't think that I would share all of my cheesecake with her...lol). I visited many times on my Paris trip. It was right outside our Airbnb. It was actually the very first thing we did before checking in. The shop is so cute. They bake some INCREDIBLE breads and treats. I am a sucker for a good chocolate croissant and this was everything I needed. They open early too. We went once at 7:30 and got a fresh chocolate croissant that was warm and melty still. I regret only getting one. I could've eaten like 5. The prices are really good too! I think 1.60 for a chocolate croissant. If only prices were that good back at home. The chocolate was nice and rich and well distributed. The dough was perfectly layered and buttery but not overly flaky. Ugh, drooling just thinking about this. The staff was really nice and it wasn't too hard to communicate.

Great bakery. Very fresh. Love the bread. Gluten free bread and the sandwiches as well. Also tasty sweets

A good croissant, okay coffee. The service was friendly. My special lady friend tried a strawberry tart. She liked it. Everything is fresh. A great place for grabbing breakfast and walking over to eat in the nearby park.

Cute bakery and friendly service. Not a sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with party kind of place. Only a few table and paper cup coffee. But everything is tasty and enjoyed chocolate croissant and cookie!

This bakery has a more modern/industrial feel than some of the other patisseries / boulangeries in Paris, and I loved that you could see a lot of the big equipment and space that they use to bake things. The white marbled counters, grey/white floors, and lots of natural sunlight and high ceilings make this a pretty place. They have a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your pastries if you wish. They had a pretty good selection of pastries left even when we went in the evening, and we picked the chou with salted caramel and peanuts. This was one of our favorite pastries of our whole weekend trip and we had a decent amount of pastries to eat. This was a huge chou, almost the size of a baseball, and the salted caramel cream inside was heavenly. Not too sweet, and just the perfect amount of saltiness. The best was the roasted peanuts hiding in the bottom that had caramel and was just the perfect salty/sweet crunchy texture to balance out the rest of the dessert. We were sad when we were done eating this pastry, and we look forward to going back here again on another trip to Paris. Worth a stop if you're in the area - the choux are great, and apparently the tarte au citron is also good (they were out when we went).

What a fabulous bakery! I'm slightly obsessed with the interior - unlike any other bakery I've seen before and far from your standard Parisian one. Bare walls, bare light bulbs and clean cuts the focus lies on the delicious treats which are a feast for your eyes! The Fougasse bread which I had was probably one of the best pieces of bread of my life! It was stuffed with olives and covered with rosemary twigs and olive oil and was simply divine I'm salivating just thinking about it .. Honestly! It was also enormous and would feed at least two people for lunch! The little meringues in cups look like the most darling things in the world - also they serve mini clafoutis which I've never seen anywhere before but was delighted to find. Talking about this place is only confirming the fact that I need to return very very soon!

Wow! Finally a bakery off the Canal St Martin to rival the hegemony of Du Pain Et Des Idees! This new bakery popped up almost overnight, completely transforming the look, feel and offerings of the very mediocre bakery that stood here beforehand. With its raw, unfinished interiors, open industrial kitchen, marble countertop and super minimalist displays, the only color and pop in the space comes from the beautiful range of baked goodness. The viennoiseries are delicate and buttery good, but not overly sweet or overly done up and the bread is just divine. I experimented with the chocolate tradition and a boule au levain - both fantastic - as well as top-of-the-line pain au chocolate and croissants plus a sablé with grilled almonds that was perfection. There are also salads and sandwiches as well as a tight range of reinvented classic pastries (eclairs, lemon tartes, mille feuilles, etc). My only complaint is that the acceuil is pretty dry and cold. With such a stark interior a bit more warmth from the staff is needed to balance the experience out.

One of my favourite bakery/pastry place in Paris. I usually go to the branch located in the Galeries Lafayette Gourmet but visiting this location is a treat. It has a modern take on traditional bakery and the open baking lab (with a large glass window ) let you have a peak inside. I love their bread as they have a large selection and the most interesting one is the chocolate flavoured one. The regular baguette is very good too. The pastries are the ones that keep me coming back, with a passion for the Choux in coffee or chocolate or the Far breton with the signature little cookie on the top. So far everything I tried is perfect but the price is matching this perfection so expect to pay more than 4 euros the piece. A must tried for any sweet tooth.

Liberte wasn't just my favorite boulangerie while were in Paris, it was also my landmark, letting me know our flat was close by (these Paris streets can be tricky!). I loved the modern feel of the bakery, especially that you can look in and see the baking action from the big windows. And once inside, it was hard not to marvel at all the breads and other goods available. And who doesn't love the smell of freshly baked bread? oh yum. I got to use my rudimentary French here as me and my son just wanted the basics. Deux croissants, une baguette, sil vous plait. The croissants easily became our favorites among the other places we tried. Buttery, flaky...very slight crunch down into pillowy softness. Does everyone's favorite memories of Paris include croissants? Well, mine do now. The baguette was also good, especially with some butter from the grocer down the street. I got my French butter as told by all the guidebooks and was not disappointed. Merci Liberte, looking forward to the next time we meet!

I was expecting phenomenal pastries but it was just average. Nothing I haven't tasted before. We got three things. Chocolate chip Madeline looking muffins. They were too dry. Husband got chocolate pastry. It was basically a chocolate bread that had morsels of chocolate in every bite. Good but as chocolatey as I thought it would be- considering the entire pastry was brown/black. He also got a apple tart. The tart had a satisfyingly flaky pastry exterior and sweet and tart Apple filling.

Baguettes are amazing all over Paris but this place is a little unique. We were up at the crack of dawn each day to make the most of our trip and so we were able to enjoy the freshly baked baguettes. The baguettes that Liberte offers are slightly crunchy on the outside and chewy on the outside. The taste is on point and the texture is off the charts. Will be back on my next visit. Too bad they were closed on Sunday.

I initially stumbled upon Liberte de Benoit Castel by chance while walking in the up and coming Canal St. Martin area and I'm so glad that I did because this modern boulangerie (by Parisian standards) is absolutely stunning! There is lots to discover on Rue des Vinaigriers; however, having fallen in love with Liberte, I went there three times in the span of five days for a "light" breakfast which consisted of buttery flaky croissants, mini-baguettes and brioches. Everything was superb. The service was excellent, and the crowd is runway-hipster chic. The line-up was huge especially during lunch time when people ran in to get their sandwiches. Fortunately, there were a few tables to sit and I was able to even catch Benoit Castel in the flesh. Tres cool.

La tarte citron - even though I ate this over a year ago, I still remember how good it was. The sablé biscuit was crumbly and buttery (as it should be) and the lemon cream was rich and tart. I've been experimenting making my own tarte au citron and I'd love to make it this beautiful for sure! La tarte à la crème - good, decent tart. It was creamy, smooth and sweet. Not distinctive enough, maybe. I don't remember much about it in the end. However, as a whole, Liberté is a nice place to check out. They have a lot of choices, and I'm sure something for everyone. I also think the boulangerie itself is quite beautiful. But to be honest, I'm more into how the FOOD tastes when it comes to this. I've been to some ugly restaurants around the world, and their food is exceptional. You know what I mean?

This is a very cool place however I was slightly disappointed because I really anticipated an excellent place for brunch. Yet I was led astray as it was really very average. There was a very long queue which was a good sign at first (giving me the impression it is a very popular destination) however I was disappointed with the quality of the food. It was not by any means, bad pastries, they were very nice, the pain au raison had a delicious crispy top coating, just as I like it. However, this was just as good as the small bakery next to my hotel. So I didn't understand what the big deal with this place was when it was just as good as my local bakery? Don't see three stars and think bad food because it is very nice. I only gave three stars because I feel that the reputation of this bakery exceeds that of the actually quality.

Excellent little bakery! Also highly recommended by my son when he was in Paris! Great breads & pastries at great prices. Had tarted & brought a loaf of bread for a picnic. Got this great small loaf of chocolate bread for only 1.30 euro!

Liberté makes the most inventive lemon "tart" I've had in Paris. It's delicious, light, just everything I want in pastry. I'll admit I haven't tried much else but their baguettes are extremely legit and work perfectly around their Parisien (ham & comté) sandwich. Flavorful, meaty, not too crisp so it doesn't destroy your palate with crusty shards.

The most beautiful bakery I have ever seen. Love the simplicity of its interior, yet I still have to say that the Pain au chocolat was a bit dissapointing. The dough was great, but the chocolate too sweet.

This is a really nice bakery, just a little too close to Du Pain et des Idées to not make the comparison. We tried their chocolate bread, which was slightly doughy and undercooked, the pain au chocolate and their chocolate almond square were quite good though. The decor is cool and they have just enough things to choose from without over doing it. Definitely recommend this one if you are in the area on a weekend when the previously mentioned bakery is closed.

Delicious!! And gorgeous! We got two baguette sandwiches and a madeleine- definitely quality ingredients and artisan level. Wonderful to pick up and take over to sit by the Canal Saint Martin to enjoy.
