Part of a NOLA outlying area visit, we visited the theater to hear real Cajun music from the locals. Very inexpensive concert/radio show but very entertaining. The host swung between English and French on occasion. Lots of dancing during every song. I'm a new fan of Cajun music!

We are a couple of Yankees and came down to get some Cajun culture. We went to the Saturday night radio broadcast and absolutely loved it. If we ever get back to you this week will sure repeat.

Yelp
My date brought me here on a Saturday night when they are recording for a local TV and radio show. They were playing tradional music and speaking in french. - I loved it! The band was wonderful, the theatre was wonderful and the staff at the front were very sweet. My favorite part were the people dancing! It melted my heart and reminded me of my grandmother (polka was more her style). Overall a wonderful experience and I am so glad I got to share part of such a rich cultural heritage.

Yelp
The Liberty Theater is located next to the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, and is a must-stop if you're in Eunice on a Saturday evening. Every Saturday night the Liberty hosts Cajun and Zydeco music, in a Grand Old Opry type format. The show is in both Cajun french and English, and as a non-French speaker I can tell you that there is enough English in the show so that you can clearly understand what is going on. When I was there, everything was spoken in one language then repeated in the other. The box office opens at 4pm Saturday night, and the show (which is broadcast locally) starts at 6pm and ends at 7:30pm. Seating is first come first served, but it's a large theater so finding a seat shouldn't be a problem. However, the best seats go quickly, so don't be shy about entering the theater early before the show to claim your spot. We arrived about 45 minutes before the show and was able to watch the band rehearse a bit. You're sure to make new friends, since everyone is exceptionally friendly and glad that you are here. The time goes by quickly, and the musicians are fantastic. The lineup changes every week, so check the web site to see who will be playing when you visit. The cost is only $5 per person, with reasonably priced drinks and popcorn available. Don't miss this show if you're into Cajun/Zydeco music...or live music of any sort. It's a fun evening of music, dancing (if you choose to) and new friends!
