I’ve been a loyal customer of this Lidl location for years, but unfortunately, after this experience, I don’t feel comfortable returning.
While checking out, I asked the cashier if he noticed the 25% off stickers on three of my items. He didn’t respond the first time, so I asked again to make sure the discounts were being applied. He suddenly snapped, saying in a very upset tone, “YES MA’AM, you’ll see on your receipt the discount!” I calmly explained I was just trying to make sure everything rang up correctly to avoid a return later.
It only escalated from there. He then barked at me twice to enter my phone number, even though I was clearly holding up my phone with the app QR code ready to scan. After the transaction, I paused briefly to check that the discounts had indeed been applied on the receipt, and he rudely told me to move to the side. I told him there was no need to be frustrated, as I was just trying to save time in the long run. He then raised his voice again, saying, “You’re NOT saving me time! You want to know the price of everything in the store.”
To make matters worse, he shouted to a coworker, “It’s the PEOPLE I can’t stand here.” I turned around and told him it was unacceptable to speak to customers like that, but he offered no apology and simply ignored me. I asked this coworker to help but he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away, offering no assistance.
I walked in expecting a normal shopping trip and ended up being treated with open hostility just for trying to ensure I was paying the right price. Completely unnecessary and extremely disappointing. Sadly, I won’t be returning.
