"In 1955, Sarasota's NAACP president Neil Humphrey Sr. organized wade-ins at Lido Beach to protest the lack of access Black residents had to the state's shoreline. This demonstration introduced wade-ins as a new tool of the civil rights movement. Visitors can explore the Newtown African American Heritage Trail, featuring 15 historical markers, and join guided tours as part of the Newtown Alive initiative." - Jessica Poitevien Jessica Poitevien Jessica Poitevien is an international storyteller and regular contributor to Travel + Leisure. Lido Beach is absolutely amazing! I love that they offer both a beautiful beach and a pool, making it the perfect spot for everyone. The beach has a relaxed vibe with a cool shack and live music that adds to the fun atmosphere. The water can be a little chilly, but it’s totally worth it, especially since you can find the most stunning seashells along the shore. If you plan on going, definitely get there early to snag a good parking spot, though – it fills up quickly and you might be driving around for a while. Overall, this is a fantastic spot to spend the day, and I’ll definitely be coming back! Highly recommend!

Outstanding beach with crystal clear water and minimal waves. Sand is gorgeous and clean. A great beach for all ages. Parking - depending on number of visitors- can be a ways away so be sure to have comfortable footwear. Highly recommend!

Beautiful beach I feel like a lot of people will compare the beach to siesta key the good thing about this beach is that it is not always overcrowded like siesta key, it is easier to find parking and there’s multiple entrances. Some entrances are closer to the food court, others It will be a further walk, The food area is called lido grill with good quality food and a nice bathroom area. The water is clear/ light green color, sand is white a little shelly but beautiful, clean beach not usually too overpacked. I even came here during the Christmas and holiday time, and it was not too bad. Nothing compared to how crammed siesta key beach is, also holiday parking is free here and they have parking along the street as well as a parking area that can sometimes be free or low cost. Also, for those who might need wheelchair accessibility, there is not a flat pad to get one to the beach on a regular wheelchair, but there is a flat area by the water that I saw individuals with motorized wheelchairs for the beach that they were using on the flat area by the water.

Always a great experience. Traffic spikes are lunchtime and sunset. If you plan your day around a parking spot, you’ll enjoy your day at Lido with little annoyances. Bathrooms and restaurant are a convenient walk next to the beach and St. Armands is a 10 min walk. This is my favorite Sarasota beach!

Super pretty beach! Very clean and very calm water. St. Armand circle is very close and there is many parking spots nearby which is nice!

We will definitely be back here! Great spot for beach combing and shelling. There were a lot of dead fish but that’s out of anyone’s control because of the red tide. But other than that it’s very well kept beach.
