"The Lido Home of the Venice Film Festival, the Lido is also where you'll find Venice 's beaches—Shelley and Byron went horseback riding here back in the day—as well as the Grand Excelsior Hotel, whose bar is often crowded with celebrities during the festival (and other times of the year, as well). If you're a classic film fan, the hotel might look familiar: Luchino Visconti's Death in Venice was shot here. The island has a decidedly lively feel compared with Venice itself, less a museum piece and more a buzzing destination, popular with Venetians and visitors looking to spend a day by the sea."

Yelp
While vacationing in Italy we were tired of doing all of the excursions, visiting sites and basilicas; we decided to have a beach day and we stopped at Lido beach based on the recommendation of our friend who lives near by. I am so glad we had this beach day. The Adriatic Sea was crystal clear. As we walked in we could literally see our toes in the sand. Lido Beach and the area around it was the perfect beach town.

Yelp
This is the most Beautiful Beach in Italy. It's place that you must see. Stunning water views. Beautiful crystal clear water. It was Anniversary Vacation for my husband and I after 19 years of Marriage. It's a bucket list must. We had a great time over there, especially from being from the US.

Yelp
We spent the day at the Lido beach Blue Moon and it was awesome! It's just a few stops by water taxi outside of the busy Venice streets and it was beautiful and relaxing! Blue Moon is a free beach, so you can set your towel up for free. The umbrellas and beach chairs are available to rent for a few (for one umbrella and two chairs it was 18 euro, and for one umbrella and one chair it is only 12)! We rented an umbrella and it was the best day by the sea! Definitely recommend if you want to escape the busy Venice streets for a bit!

Yelp
We jumped on the Vaparedo right off of St. Mark's square and took a ride over to Lido where the beach is located. It was a great feeling to get away from the regular tourist packed areas and relax at the beach by a completely different ocean than what I'm used to. My GF and I spent some great quality time on the beach there and took a nice long walk out to the pier. On the way back it was very relaxing to kick off our shoes and enjoy some drinks in the sand. Definitely recommend it if you're in Venice especially cause you'll end up running out of what to do while in Venice!

Yelp
A quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of Venice proper. The town is decidedly a residential one whose economy appears to revolve around the retail thoroughfare of Santa Maria Elisabetta. Calm, quaint and almost serene (as was the case during my off season visit), it's a nice in which to wake up in the morning and return for dinner after a full day about town. You'll soon notice the town is almost overrun by elderly folks and their canine companions. It's a joy to sit and watch the parade of doggies go by. On last count I've seen 15 different breeds. Cats were curiously absent from the picture. The Lido is accessible via water bus from P. San Marco and Sabbioni at €7 one way. The pier also sees the airport bound Alilaguna boat shuttle twice and hour in the afternoons.

Yelp
We spent the afternoon on a rainy beach having a grand time looking for shells. There were shells of all kinds. the rain didn't keep us indoors. But it did keep everyone else in doors so we had the beach to ourselves. I would love to visit sometime when the sun is shining and we can enjoy swimming and laying on the beach.

Yelp
Swimming in the Adriatic Sea should be a life goal. It was so nice to take a break from the heat in venice and spend the day at the beach. It's only June and the sand was so hot anyone without flip flops was running through the sand at lightening speed. The beach is clean and the waves are very tiny. The water felt like a bathtub. You can see fish swimming. We rented chairs and drank beer all day at the beach bar. We tanned and relaxed. There were Italians all around us. There is a private and public section. They look the same. The chairs are not different and it's somewhat less crowded. But the public side wasn't so crowded it was the perfect amount of people. Maybe later on in the season it makes sense to go over to the private side. Not sure but it was great and there was some nudity but we laughed and had a great time watching speedos and old men lol

Yelp
I am in love with this place. The main island in Venice neat, but a bit overwhelming with the tourism. This island is amazingly beautiful... Slower paced.. And just perfect. We stayed at the Ca Alberti. The history of Malamocco and the house is just incredible.

Yelp
Harassed Mother Is Filmstar for One Blissful Afternoon We arrived at the Lido Di Venezia by watertaxi..it's simply the only way, dahhlings! I donned my white catseye shades and my son tried hard to resemble the exquisite boy in "Death In Venice". As he is a burly rugby-playing eleven-year-old, and I am a pallid redhead with freckle issues, we perhaps did not quite pull it off. However, when we reached our bit of the beach, which boasted huge fourposter beachbeds , wafty muslin curtains, and a gleamingly clean little bar ;we both started to feel like filmstars. The white soft sand and cerulean blue of the sky and the sea was an immediate enchantment. The fact that you could trot to the friendly little barman at the friendly little bar, dry off with a dry Martini, and then lie back on the towelling mattresses of the beachbeds, and read, was my idea of paradise. My son, meanwhile, divided his attentions between the water and the music on his I-pod, in equal bliss. I went in for a languid swim from time to time, and then resumed my position. The distant cries of Italian children and the occasional small plane trailing an advertising banner for some suitably glamorous product, were the only sounds besides the gentle splashing of the Adriatic. Warm air scented with blossom mingled with the aroma of delicious Italian coffee. The whole experience was irresistible to the senses, and the ultimate in simple relaxation. We stayed until the cool of the evening descended, and then walked back to the water taxi stop, and back to our Venetian hotel, feeling like celebrities. My shoulders had descended from their usual position, around ear level, and my son was temporarily lulled into contentment. An unforgettable day at the Lido di Venezia.

Yelp
Lido is by far the best island that I have been to (except my home)! We took the Vaperetto here, just looking for some adventure. It is currently overcast, and it is still nice. Busses, bikes, and cars are common here. It is so much quieter here than St. Marco. We would not have been able to get a table at a decent restaurant there. I would definitely recommend this island to a friend. Try a gelato - soooo good and cheap (only paid 1 € for a scoop of Limonata!)
