Light Years - Byron Bay

Easily the best dinner we had on our two-week holiday spanning Sydney, the Blue Mountains, and Byron Bay. We arrived at Light Years to celebrate our four-year anniversary, a special occasion that deserved an exceptional meal. We opted for the premium selection, and I mentioned to our server that I had a big appetite. She confidently assured me that I would leave feeling fully satisfied, which set the bar high for the evening. The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect mood for our celebration. Each dish that arrived was a delightful surprise, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. While every item was excellent, the salmon sashimi particularly stood out. It was fresh and perfectly balanced, leaving a lasting impression. As promised, the portions were generous, and by the end of the meal, we found ourselves struggling to finish everything. It was a rare and gratifying experience to leave a restaurant feeling both full and completely happy with every aspect of the meal. The combination of great food, value for money, impeccable service, and a wonderful atmosphere made our evening unforgettable. We rocked up to a fully packed Light Years with no reservation, desperate to order all the yummy things we didn’t order when we were last there for lunch. The hostess was SO LOVELY and accomodating. It was 630pm and she said she could only get us a table for an hour before the 730pm booking rocked up. They didn’t have to accommodate us at all and could have easily turned us away, but they were so friendly. The wait staff (we were mainly looked after by a lovely French fella) bent over backwards making sure we got our meals in a timely manner (in a very packed restaurant) and we were only too happy to wolf said meals down, every plate was delicious. The great food and friendly staff and beautiful interiors are all reasons we keep returning each time we’re in town for work. Thanks so much for another delicious meal guys.

The food here is great. I love the steak here and the Asian veggies. On the two occasions I've eaten here both times the service has been lacking. We had to walk in from an outside table several times to get things. So next time I sat inside and I was on my own and the service again was very average. I would def return for the food but hope they improve customer service

We booked in for an early dinner but weren’t very hungry so we requested a later seating. The staff was very accommodating. We chose the more expensive set menu (don’t remember what it was called) and every single dish was perfect! Side note: good selection of tequila and mezcal. The staff is obviously well trained, experienced and just genuinely nice. Make sure you are hungry if you order the set menu, as the amount of food served was crazy!! Such a great experience.

I were there with my friend without booking they still have some seats for us. Booking required if you prefer better table but doesn’t matter for us. The foods were sensational and feeling especially pork belly and dumpling. The service was okay only floor staff took care us well others were a bit ignored.

Rating based on food! Positive: Great location and atmosphere, Food was generally wonderful and of a great standard for Asian fusion! Highly recommend the Bao buns! Negative: Do not recommend the dumplings (lack flavour) and Singapore prawn curry (western style curry nothing like the real thing) and be prepared to pay for what you get.

Great atmosphere, it's cosy, busy and the food is good but some dishes were overly done. The Kingfish crevache is amazing, don't skip it! The crab, prawn and etc dumplings were a bit overdone but still quite yummy, I wasn't sure what the red sauce was but the sauce from the crevache was good!!! The prawn sticks were also a bit rubbery but the sauce was nice! Overall an interesting experience and worth a visit if you're in the area. I don't really know if I'd revisit but maybe I would try them again.

This place is absolutely amazing. The vibe, the atmosphere was very welcoming. Service was great & staff was friendly. Luckily we booked ahead as it does get busy. The food was the stand out, we ordered the premium banquet and every dish we had was set at a high standard. Would definately recommend. This resturant was a real stand out!
