First time going here, I have been wanting to take the family for some time now and this didn't disappoint. It's affordable when you think about it. You pay per vehicle. All I could hear my kids say was that my favorite now. They are 10 & 8 an it's like I could see that Christmas spirit oozing out of them the look of amazement was worth driving 3.25 hrs each way

Google
What a fun attraction! We drove up from Nashville on a day trip and really enjoyed the lights. It was Sunday and we didn’t wait long. I think that, since it’s indoors, they can spread traffic out throughout the day and it’s not as crowded as some of the other light shows. My son loved seeing all the Disney characters! We will definitely come back next year.

Liz Lobo

Google
Such a cool experience! We didn’t even know about this place when we planned our trip to Louisville but I’m so glad we saw the add for it. Definitely go early in the day as when we drove by at night, on a weekend, traffic was backed up for MILES! We went on a Sunday at noon and got right in. There were many lights, displays and trippy tunnels of lights. I’d definitely go back again next year if we are in the area.

Google
Arrived at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. There were virtually no cars which made the drive-thru much more enjoyable. We could take our time and even stop if we wanted as there were no cars behind us. All in our party were thrilled with the lights, the various themes, as well as great audio tied in sink with various lights. Enjoyable for children and adults alike.

Google
A very fun and worthwhile experience. I believe the best way to experience the lights is going on a weekday and/or going early in the day. It's a great experience any time of day as there's no natural light to worry about in a cavern. ;) I also recommend taking the Christmas Express/tram where you have an open top view and do not have to be distracted by pacing or paying attention to who is in front of you. The cavern is a little tricky to get to, but not horrible. Once you're near the destination GPS may not be helpful so just keep an eye on all the signs placed for the event. If you take the Christmas Express and have arrived in the parking lot simply walk to the shelter and follow the yellow footprints. The Christmas Express is scheduled so no wait time and the tour was around 40 minutes long. The souvenir shop is cozy and most items are reasonably priced. Don (the conductor for the Christmas Express) was great and reminded me a lot of tour guides from my childhood (I'm 50) and definitely provided a sense of nostalgia. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Order tickets in advance. Restroom(s) present. Snacks and drinks available. Exhaust fumes weren't noticeable/well ventilated. Music was loud, but not intolerable. Temperature in the cavern is around 58-60 degrees and the tram moves somewhat slowly so a hoodie or sweater will have you warm enough. Keep in mind your phone will have zero service in the cavern.

Google
Fantastic show! Highly recommend! Over 3 million lights to see. Cartoon characters, snowmen, the real Christmas story and more. I definitely want to go back next year!

chad mcginnis

Google
Awesome Christmas light show in the old limestone mine. Highly recommend it, definitely worth the trip to Louisville. Was here for the North American Honey Bee Expo and so glad we did the tram ride.

Brandy Asher

Google
Absolutely an amazing experience. I brought my 3 year old daughter and she was in awe at all the characters and lights. I was just as excited as her. All the scenes they've created with all the lights is so creative. We will be going back. It took a out 40-45 minutes of waiting but it was definitely worth it.

Edrika G.

Yelp
AhMAZING! This was great! ...and even better that it was in a cavern so we could ride through during daylight hours! One of my concerns was getting caught up in traffic, so we came through around 3pm. That was the best decision ever. We were able to take our time, pause to look at something longer, and peruse the lights. Technology is amazing. Some of the displays are very high-speed. The synchronization of lights and music is ......awesome. On top of that you could tune your car radio to a local station that pays Christmas music. I don't know what else to say but, do it. It's worth it. Go early if you can.

Angela B.

Yelp
This is a neat experience we did the drive through. The walking tour seems to be the same but that is closed Feb-October Amazing to see something that large

Tim J.

Yelp
This was our first time seeing the lights under Louisville and we were all very impressed and excited! The music is loud, and since it's underground, you can roll all your windows down and it's not very cold even during the cold winter days! The path is easy to follow and you basically just let go of your gas peddle and coast. Every one in a while people slow down and their tail lights can obscure some of the view, at least for the driver. There is a ton of recognizable things to see, such as the Avengers, super Mario, etc. there is only light ups either, some of the areas have inflatable TV screens, rave like light shows and tons of signs with funny dad jokes! Our boys all loved it and look forward to making this a family tradition.

Sarah E.

Yelp
Definitely a Midwest thing The drive was longer than we had anticipated and while the light set ups were fairly simple and predictable, it was definitely worth the drive from Cincinnati just for the kitschy holiday fun. Be prepared to wait in long lines most any time of day!

Emily P.

Yelp
So stunning!!!! We drove through on Christmas Eve at 10am and we were shocked that there was no line! It took about 30 mins to drive through and every second was beautiful!!! 10/10

Miracle G.

Yelp
A bit pricey but worth it. Enough lights to entertain the whole family from grandparents to babies.

Ashley D.

Yelp
We went on a Tuesday at 7pm and there was No longer wait for traffic, not overly crowded. There was so many themes of lights but yet it all flowed together nicely. Music was not overly loud and and only 1 section of white flashing lights that I just closed my eyes for! Over all great experience and would definitely recommend.

Eunice L.

Yelp
WOW! JUST WOW!! I haven't been to lights under Louisville in three years and I am floored as to how much it has changed. It is an absolutely stunning light show to drive-through in the cavern I drove through with my son, and we took some pictures, which I will post. A beautiful selection of old and new Christmas music played as we drove through. HEADS UP! if you arrive and buy a ticket it's $56. But if you go online, use the online coupon you can get it for $37. And believe me it is well worth that $37 and more!! Best time to go is before 2:00/ weekdays. (lots less crowded) You will not be disappointed!! Thank me later!

Jessica F.

Yelp
Price was a little steep for how long it was but awesome! The kid really enjoyed it and it wasn't crowded at all

Carol T.

Yelp
This is as very cool! I think it was about 20 minutes or so of a drive through light show. It's a little pricey but done well. The cave aspect added a new aspect of the Christmas light show.

Cindy S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! I love how they change it up every year. So many more beautiful displays lights this year. Staff was awesome.

Amanda C.

Yelp
This was an absolute disaster. I work weekend days so going during the day for Lights Under Louisville was not an option for us. We drove 2 hours from Indianapolis with 6 kids (combined families). We waited in line on the interstate ramp for 3.5 hours. It took an hour and a half to go 900 feet. No joke. Nobody would let the cars merge from the 264 ramp onto Poplar Level Rd. And there was absolutely NO traffic police/control UNTIL you get to the actual road the cavern is on. We had no idea when we were in line it would be a 4.5 hour wait just to get to the entrance. We got to the ramp at 6:30pm and finally left the cavern at 11:30pm. We fed the kids snacks on the way expecting to get dinner after we were done. Needless to say we were looking for a place to get food at midnight when we finally got on the interstate to head back to Indianapolis. Round trip it was an 11 hour car ride for a 30 min light show. We got home at 3am. They need to limit the amount of tickets between 5pm-close. This was absolute torture. Had we known at the time we got to the ramp we would be looking at a 4.5 hour wait just to get to the cavern we would have just called it a $50 loss on the tickets and done something else. Staff needs to look up Winterlights at Newfileds in Indianapolis and see how they do their timed tickets and learn a few things. Or maybe hire the Chick-fil-A drive through teams to direct traffic..they'd have everyone out in an hour. All in all, this is a core memory for 8 people we don't really care to experience ever again. Which is sad because it has so much potential to be an amazing family experience.

Emma S.

Yelp
I actually didn't even see lights! Before you purchase tickets look into how they're non refundable, and you CANT transfer the dates of the tickets. So even after waiting hours in traffic where you get cut off by everyone, with absolutely no traffic control you don't get to see what you pay for. I seriously could not recommend this less it's just robbery. They even disconnected their phones so if you want to ask for a refund you can't because that's just how good their business is!

Sharon E.

Yelp
Amazing light show. Wow. grandchildren loved it. they went on and on about the displays.

Marshall P.

Yelp
Light show has improved in some ways over the years with more high tech, impressive lights. The $40 price tag is a bit high, but I guess they've finally used it to improve the displays. Lines can be long and you'll end up coughing on car exhaust fumes throughout. I feel badly for the folks working there. It's all Christmas - I guess it comes with the territory but there's no acknowledgment of other holidays. They got rid of the Hanukkah themed lights, so it's a bit less inclusive than in the past.

Jim F.

Yelp
Lights under Louisville is a unique holiday event that, as far as I'm aware, is unique to Louisville. It's a clever idea, since you've got this vast underground cavern We've done it every year since we moved to Louisville and always look forward to it. We tend to go earlier in the season to beat the closer-to-Christmas crowds. Once a year is enough (it's largely the same every year) but it's a fun, festive way to spend about 1/2 hour. Once you enter the cavern it's headlights-off (some people have a vitamin deficiency that doesn't seem to allow them to do this) as you slowly meander through the cavern. The shear amount of light displays is amazing as you wind your way through the caves. Some areas have common themes (aside from, of course, Christmas) and there is a variety of Christmas music played throughout your drive. I love that Louisville has this unique attraction. The price (this year) is $34.99 per car, so cram as many people as you can in and visit soonly!

Crystal H.

Yelp
Super long wait times. Don't go late in the evening. They are very organized, which is a huge plus. The light display is great. It was a little dusty down there, as expected. Bathrooms are right inside the entrance of the cave, and a portable trailer potty house. So plan accordingly. There isn't any stopping points throughout, and attendants keep you moving pretty swiftly. It takes about 17 minutes to go through. And we waited an hour and 45 minutes to get in. Lots of lights to see in the cave and a cool experience.

William N.

Yelp
My wife and I took two of our grandchildren to Lights Under Louisville on a Saturday night in December 2024. Had we known the extent of the traffic and wait time we would experience, we would have paid the same amount not to have gone. The light show is good, but it is definitely not worth being stuck in that kind of traffic, especially with no indication at all regarding how long you will have to wait, trapped in your car not moving. At one point we sat in a huge staging area with multiple lines of cars with absolutely no movement (and no way to leave) for over 45 minutes. This was after spending an initial hour or so just to get to that point. This amount of traffic is unfair to patrons and hugely unfair to the residents of the area who can literally not access or leave their homes while this event is going on. At a minimum, the organizers of this event need to make it clear that you will sit in traffic for hours if you attend this event. There was no such warning on the website. A better solution would be to offer only presale tickets and strictly limit the number of tickets sold for each day.

Rensha R.

Yelp
This was really great for the kiddos! The lights were huge and very expansive! HOWEVER, how are lights under Louisville displaying the UK bigger than UL? As a Louisville resident and fan, this is unacceptable! This would never happen in Lexington. Also, there has to be a better way to move traffic better. Overall, it is a good experience but not one that needs to be repeated.

Ashlyn A.

Yelp
Terrible traffic. Really inconveniences all the neighbors and businesses in the neighborhood. Their "traffic control" has no idea what they're doing. The Mega Cavern should be forced to presell tickets so cars aren't backed up all the way to the interstate.

Emily H.

Yelp
It's hard to tell what holiday attractions will be entertaining for my almost 2yo toddler. Lights Under Louisville was a definite five stars for him (if he could write this review). It cost $30 per carload, and we decided to wait until the week between Christmas and New Year's to attend to help avoid any long lines. And happily, there was no line at all. We purchased our ticket ahead of time via Mega Cavern's site, and presented the email with QR code to scan to enter. This attraction took about 20 minutes to drive through. It included light displays of a wide variety, including a couple of light tunnels and figures from Toy Story, Marvel, DC, Minions, Disney and more. Music also played over loudspeakers, and considering this is in a cave, where it's 50-60 degrees, we were able to roll down our windows to hear it better. And since you drive so slow, I was able to hold my son in my lap, so that he could see everything better. It was such a joy to see his joy. This will become a family tradition.

Vanessa C.

Yelp
Trying to get to the lights. Traffic control is awful! There is no rhyme or reason to how they are doing it. It's a complete mess. We have been stuck in traffic for over 3 hrs!! There is NO information about refunds or if you can possibly submit for another day!! That is unacceptable. We are definitely not going to make it before

Mike N.

Yelp
Almost 3 hours stuck in traffic - make sure you have a full tank of gas and empty bladders - and we haven't even made it off the interstate yet. At present pace venue will be closed before we reach it

Amanda D.

Yelp
I love Christmas lights and after last weekend in Etown, I was looking forward to Lights under Louisville. This was kind of just eh for me. First - the positives. They have a system to get people in and it works. Patience is the key though. You start in a parking lot, in a row. Then you move to another parking lot, in a row. From there, you head into the lights. This is where you turn in your ticket or have your ticket scanned. Then you head into the lights. There are A LOT of lights. Two tunnels to drive through - which I loved. Lots of characters and projections. I much appreciated the holiday themed dad jokes hanging above some of the displays. The negatives: The cost. I feel like the lights in Etown were longer and it was donation based. A much better deal if you are in a budget. The majority of the lights weren't really christmasy. There was a Disney princess section, a superhero section, and a military section. None of these really scream Christmas to me. Great for kids but missed the mark for me. Overall, this is a safe thing to do during Covid. Plan on several hours of waiting in lines.

Allison T.

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular lights! I was amazed at the quantity of lights that they had and how long the path in the caverns was! Definitely a must see when visiting Louisville for the holidays! Lots of funny jokes and lights themed with different movie characters! Took about 20 minutes to get through the whole path!

Chris D.

Yelp
It's a neat concept that I enjoy, but the price for entry is stupid expensive! It would be nice if just one business wouldn't take advantage screwing their customers over with increased prices.

Sarah J.

Yelp
this was more fun than driving myself! I was able to enjoy it with my kiddos. skeeter was a great guide!! definitely more expensive than driving yourself but worth it in my opinion.

Kathy V.

Yelp
I was invited to join my quaran-team for a drive through the Lights Under Louisville. One of the grandparents had gifted them with a priority pass for a visit to the attraction with their lil' kids. So we had a general time at which to be there, and got to skip the line, no waiting for us. Or, well....a lot less waiting! We wrangled the kids in to the car, brought some homemade cocoa with us to drink in the car, and headed on over. Since we had the priority pass, we got to scoot on past the other schmoes just trying to get a little festivity in their lives :-P Anyway, it moved smoothly and much quicker than I expected, even with the jump-the-line of it all. The lights were festive and lovely (well...aside from the disturbing Chewbacca....). But it also seemed a bit shorter than I expected, for the cost. I guess if I divide the cost by person in the car, it is a bit more worth it. But it was about $65 for about 25 minutes from our first turning on the street to get to the Mega Cavern to getting back on the highway to go home. If you have little ones, and/or cost doesn't matter a lick to you, this is worth visiting for a little holiday cheer.

Kyya G.

Yelp
A beautiful Underground Christmas lights show oh my God what can I say? only reason I'm so saddened is that I found it so late with my kids becoming adults but it is the best thing that we have experience as a family together. Please take all little kids and you can go to miles per hour going through well worth it too I will return

Brianna M.

Yelp
The lights are very impressive, but not worth $30-something (or more) per car. We completed the whole display in twenty minutes. If you have kids, they will probably appreciate all the Disney lights. Disney was a main theme, along with USA pride and Jesus. A lot of "remember Jesus" and "keep Christ in Christmas," which is not my personal preference but oh well. At least there was a little section for Hanukkah. It was cool but overall, a bit too expensive.

Priscilla R.

Yelp
This was a fantastic light drive through, and the great thing was it could be done during the day instead of having to wait until after dark! Great activity for young kids and it was nice to do it as a family carload vs having to do their trolley, and more affordable that way for 6 of us. I just felt bad because my rental car had auto lights and I couldn't figure out how to turn them fully off (the "off" position still had headlights on). Loved all the movie themes, the 12 days of Christmas, and most importantly the Nativity scene.

Gambleized Performance Exhaust G.

Yelp
Had a good time with the family definitely a nice place vist especially if your into Christmas lights

Courtney D.

Yelp
It was a beautiful and unique display! We had a fun time and loved the experience. It wasn't crowded and got us in the Christmas spirit.

Kristin M.

Yelp
A very enjoyable experience through the mega cavern! I hope to make this a yearly tradition!

Dinah B.

Yelp
traffic was horrible. set in traffic for over 3 hours. traffic control was just sitting in their cars. I feel sorry for those who live in the area. people yelling over and offering to let you over for $20. we will not be back.

Shelby Z.

Yelp
I've been to Lights Under Louisville a few times now, and it's come to be one of my favorite holiday events! First of all, how many other cities can say they have a light show in a cave?! Exactly. Not only this, but it is a pretty good length to drive through. The first thing that you should note is that during the holidays, this can get so. insanely. busy. I would highly recommend going on a weeknight or before sundown on the weekend, or you may end up waiting for a couple hours. It costs $30 to drive through per car, so bring some friends and the cost will easily be worth it. The are different themes of lights as you go through the cave, and it's fun for all ages!

Jeremy J.

Yelp
My wife and I took our girls here to see the lights in the Louisville mega cavern. It's a cool experience I like driving through on CNN the two major things that hold that back in my opinion is I'm not a patient person so we have to wait in a really long line and that's tough in your vehicle your kids got to pee and figuring out bathrooms food all that kind of stuff and then it cost money of course so I enjoy just driving around neighborhoods really and look at the cool lights and this is a cool experience don't get me wrong but I'm not gonna go back again

Skye I.

Yelp
Drove 2 hours to get there at 6 to wait almost 4 hours in line to just get to the interstate to turn off. 4 cars of family traveled together for this and we all tried calling around 9 to see if they were even going to stay open passed 10 pm and no one even answered. Limit sales or direct traffic! This was the worst experience I've had trying to see lights! I've waited for 1-3 hours before to see lights but the traffic was moving because police and staff directed traffic. We waited 3 hours to get through 1 intersection waiting for louisville cavern!!!! Other people were screaming and almost hitting eachothers cars with road rage. Worst experience I've ever had and I never even got to see the lights. After we turned onto the interstate we noticed a 5 mile long wait on the interstate trying to merge. Will never be back again!

Alberto S.

Yelp
Very interesting and different experience. Our family absolutely loved it. Windows down and lots of fun. Only thing, if you're in a rental car like I was. Try to figure out how to turn lights completely off on your car before going. It's tricky with daytime running lights kicking in.

Jowanna B.

Yelp
This is something like I've never experienced before! I'm still getting use to moving to a smaller town than Los Angeles, and when I tell you I am surprised daily at how much there is to offer! This entire event is literally underground! You have to go!!!!! It's so fun and romantic and simple. You pay online, drive up and drive through! We literally paid as we drove up. You roll your windows down and enjoy the Christmas music and the scenery! Word of advice, drive as slow as you can to capture all the beautiful moments!

Steven M.

Yelp
For the price of admission I was expecting much more. This is more commercialized hype than anything else. I have seen much better lights at some normal houses around town.

Riley C.

Yelp
Used to be a lot longer. We waited longer than we were actually in the cave. Probably took only five minutes to drive through. What was there was pretty but it wasn't enough

Heidi A.

Yelp
Really fun and great lights! Drive slowly to enjoy all the lights and a fun cavern! Really cool to see the cavern, and good music too. Pay at the door and don't have to pay the service upcharge on Eventbrite.
