The place is so cute in a beautiful spot. BUT...
We live 45 minutes from here but regularly make trips to Dallas (where we are originally from) for coffee and to buy our beans. Both of my daughters are well trained baristas that worked at and managed coffee shops in Dallas a led the UK.
My husband met with a friend here last week and was super impressed. The barista took time when making his curtado and latte. The Curtado was smooth and came out with a side of topo, the latte was perfect. He could tell he knew what he was doing and cared. He bragged about it all week. He was excited to bring us out. The bag of coffee he brought home was also great, BTW.
Today we came out and had a different experience. They were super nice, but definitely distracted (the guy on bar anyway). We were asked if we wanted our drinks for there or to go and we ordered everything to drink there. The Curtado came out in a paper cup (maybe be tot makes less mess?), no topo on the side and pulled slightly sour. The three lattes we ordered were too sweet to drink. My husband just dealt with it rather than bother saying anything. I took mine back up and asked for another without any sweetener. I paid for it because I didn't want to get anyone in trouble. I did let him know that they were making the drinks extremely sweet. I didn't want to be a jerk, but with having a different experience before I assume this is not the norm and maybe the barista was new and not paying attention because they were somewhat busy? The second drink was ok, but the shot wasn't pulled quite right, as it tasted a little weak, especially for the smallest size. We spent 60 dollars, with the bag of coffee and drinks. My husband was super disappointed.
I will give it one more shot next week because I really want it to be good. My hope is not to get anyone in trouble, but make them aware of the inconsistency. If I was owner I would want to know. I'm totally willing to change this review as I believe this place may have just had an off day. But this is how it went down today.
