In the Faroe Islands, Nature Rewards Patience | Condé Nast Traveler

"At our guesthouse, host Lilja Víká served sour rye bread and curried fish and described how by summer the same children would be racing brightly colored boats; her home embodied Heimablídni, the tradition of inviting guests in for a shared meal and cultural exchange." - Callie Radke Stevens

You should only consider coming here if you appreciate a warm, comfortable, spacious room, with outstanding views (Through a large picture window) of mountains/glaciers. Don't be put off by the excellent dinner, superb breakfast that is also offered.|Downside? We only had 1 night to enjoy it, wanted more.............|Yes, route 1 is alongside, ~ 50m away, never heard a single passing vehicle.

Lovely location, rooms are warm, cozy and large. Good breakfast. Isolated venue (as usual in that part of Island!). 30/40' from Diamond Beach and 20' from Hofn (recommended for a quick visit)

We stayed there for a night. I evaluate it low as compared to the price, the service and quality was low, otherwise the place was clean and has the basics. I paid ~232, and with half of this we have received better quality and services. The room was big enough for a night but the it smelled of strong bleach when we entered. I guess we were unlucky that the heater was not working and after we told the staff they brought an electric heater. The staff were polite. The breakfast was also very basics. The restaurant has a nice view though.

The rooms were quite nice. Just breakfast in this place was very poor. Nothing warm except of coffee and tea. No warm food at all, just slices of cheese, ham to make sandwiches and overcooked boiled eggs.

this one-day stay was the best among 11 nights in Iceland. The rooms were generous and well set-up. the staff were helpful and knowledgable. and the meal was also the best among 11 evening meals, voted so by this discerning group of 4. the food was cooked to order, the portions generous and the flavors were fabulous. We were all pleased, which is a feat in itself. THANK YOU!

The Lilja Guesthouse staff was welcoming and hotel was generally clean. Pro tip: ask for a room facing away from the parking lot. Since all of the rooms are on the ground floor, car headlights and people coming/going will be able to see right in, as there are only room-darkening curtains (no sheer curtains). The amenities were lacking from the perspective of one used to staying at hotels in the United States of America--read on.||Bedroom: 2 standard pillows, 2 split duvets, 2 electrical outlets near bed, 2 bedside tables, 1 desk, 1 chair, 1 desk lamp (bulb was missing), open closet with built-in suitcase stand, no screens, no sheer curtains, room-darkening curtains, no safe.||Bathroom: No counter space, step-in shower, no hair dryer, no shower cap, no tissues, body wash/shampoo combination in the shower and by the sink, no bar soap, 2 mugs (useful for filling reusable water bottles at the tap), 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, no wash cloths, 1 bath mat, 1 hand towel hook near sink, 1 towel warmer across from shower, no vent fan in bathroom. Oddly, the light was motion sensor activated, so you couldn't use the bathroom at night without it coming on||Technology: 1 TV (with Netflix, YouTube, etc. login capability), adequate wifi.||Miscellaneous: Free parking (in lot), no fitness facility, dining room (breakfast included).

We had a wonderful stay at this guest house. Definitely a step above your typical four star and just shy of perfect. The rooms were clean, sleek, modern, and very comfortable, with a hot, strong shower. It was much appreciated after a long day of exploring.|Breakfast was a highlight with a great variety of options in good quality. Be sure to request a room in the new house for the best experience as it had glacier views. |The staff was friendly and helpful, and the check-in/check out process was smooth and efficient. All in all a great place to stay and when we’d happily return to!

We were given a standard room for three nights in the old house, which we called a barrack, because "guesthouse" is definitely not the right word. The rooms are very small and offer nothing more than a bed and a nightstand. They were recently renovated, but the interior is very plain. There was no closet for clothes and it was too small to leave a suitcase open. The bathroom was so tiny you could barely turn around. Toilet paper holders were falling off the walls, and the light fixture was falling from the ceiling. The staff is friendly, but the breakfast was very basic. There's a new building, and the rooms look better, but unfortunately, there wasn't room for us. Remember: Don't book a standard room. You'll regret it.
