Staying at Limalimo Lodge was the highlight of our almost three-week trip in Ethiopia, during which we stayed in 13 different hotels. This is a wonderful lodge with breathtaking views from the restaurant and patio There is an outdoor fire each evening at cocktail hour with some surprise hors d’oeuvres served. They also make an indoor fire in the restaurant at dinner. Mingling with other interesting guests is easy. Domestic alcohol is included. The rooms, in stand-alone buildings, are large and comfortable, with good beds and nice bathrooms. Monkeys roam the grounds. Unfortunately, we were there for only one night, but should have stayed at for least two, if not three. The owner was most helpful and welcoming. The staff were great. Nice hikes can be taken from the lodge itself and it’s a good base from which to see the large park. However, because it is located just inside the park boundary, some driving is required to get to desired locations inside the park each day, including to see the Walia Ibex. There is no internet available. This lodge is much nicer and much, much better value than Bale Mountain Lodge in the Bale Mountains National Park, south of Addis. We highly recommend coming here, instead of there!
