Google
Nice spot to relax and enjoy breakfast. The food is decent—nothing extraordinary—but the atmosphere is pleasant. Service was a bit slow

Google
Came around 11 on a Saturday. Staff was friendly, vibes were good, plenty of people hanging out but also plenty of tables. Good views and good food. We got -carnitas skillet -pancakes -bacon was awesome, just a side came with 4 big thick strips, cooked well, not floppy not crispy -vanilla sprinkles donut Definitely would come back here!

Google
We were here for about 5 days for the 4th of July holiday on our boat. They do a great job keeping up with the demands of the hundreds of boaters that come in, and really do accomplish it with a smile. The service was always very friendly and welcoming. We had the donuts on several days, the coffee, the pizza, a few different things at breakfast and then the pork tacos off the lunch menu over the time we were there. All yummy and hit the spot that was needed :)

Google
TLDR; really good food, but misses the mark on presentation given their prices. We came in the late afternoon for lunch on the weekend are were surprised to find that there were plenty of tables available! The vegetarian options are on the light side unfortunately but they did have a bean patty substitution for their burgers (for an extra $3, which irks me a bit, to be honest - I can’t figure out why there’s an extra charge to substitute an ingredient when it burger is already $17) - regardless, the burger was very very good. We also got the half clam chowder/ half fish and chips - this was a good decision too, although next time around we’ll stick to just the fish and chips because they are simply amazing. Overall, even though the food was great, I’m docking a star for that irksome $3 charge and the plastic cutlery in spite of the fairly pricey food.

Google
It’s a little spendy but there’s not many options on this side of the island. The food was great though and the beer garden had live music. We saw a bald eagle too! Eating by the water and marina was super relaxing too. The servers were all really nice too. It gets busy so you may have to poke around to find a seat and you might get looks if you don’t vacate after eating but that’s kinda par for the course with busy establishments in tourist spots.

Google
We visited Lime Kiln Café yesterday and were excited to enjoy a meal right on the pier at Roche Harbor — the setting is absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, the food and service didn't live up to the location. The menu leans heavily into cheap, greasy diner-style fare, which felt like a missed opportunity given the incredible surroundings. No alcohol is served, but they also don’t allow you to bring your own — so no having a beer right beside the water which is an incredible miss. Service was slow and the staff were not pleasant. Overall the place felt like it lucked out by having this incredible location long ago, and they haven't had to keep standards high or actually be a good place to visit. It's a shame, because this incredible location deserves a fun place with great food and drinks.

Google
Lime Kiln Cafe is in a stunning spot right on the water at Roche Harbor. The vibe is relaxed and peaceful—perfect if you’re looking to get away from the busier Friday Harbor scene. We had the chicken sandwich and the Moby Cod fish sandwich, both served with fries and their tasty mayo. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Great place to unwind and enjoy a meal with beautiful waterfront views. Would definitely come back.

Google
We arrived to Lime Kiln Cafe about 40 minutes before it was closing, so it was pretty quiet in there. We ordered a late lunch and all really enjoyed our food. The views are nice and the atmosphere was great. Check the hours before you go to make sure they are open.

Yelp
The fish & chips were mentioned on a lot of reviews, but were pretty bad. The fish was cold in the center and the fries were lukewarm. The chowder tasted like chemicals, not very fresh and the chicken salad was not spectacular. We would have left the food on the table if we weren't starving. They seem to be doing well just because of their location, and care little for the quality of the food they're putting out. The servers were nice, but not friendly. They did bring over the order to the table. The tables that were empty, only half of them were clean. Maybe they're understaffed.

Yelp
Aloha, when you have dinner rez in 3 hours, yet you're so hungry as you just finished playing pickleball, best to share a sandwich to hold you over. We stumbled onto Lime Kiln Cafe, where they make fresh sandwiches. Our cubano was so ono! Great system, you stand in line to order and pay, you get a number, find a table and viola the food is served. You can dine indoors or outdoors on a nice boardwalk with umbrellas. All with a fantastic view of the boats (yachts) in the harbor. Roche Harbor drips in millions if not billions of dollars just sitting there in the harbor. Fun little town of shops, hotels, wedding venues and fun! Enjoy!

Yelp
Good food, steep prices. It's clean and the service was friendly and efficient. Lunch for 3 people was $45. One of us had ice tea, otherwise we drank water. My point? Even in the off season, it's expensive here. Still the views were good and the food was tasty. The 12 oz soup was filling and had a smoky tincture to it. I love split pea soup and this soup was really well prepared: creamy and perfectly seasoned (most restaurants add too much salt). The turkey sandwich with small chowder was also delicious. The dining room was a bit messy with debris on the floor and chairs pushed away from the tables. Next time I'd just eat on the boat, but a friend was disembarking so going out to lunch was a social decision. Im glad we tried this place but the prices will likely keep me away in the future.

Yelp
The service and staff are top-notch and so nice. The food was delicious and we ate outside, the view was amazing! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Still on our cruise through the San Juan Islands. Todays port of call: Roche Harbor. At Lime Kiln a cafe I ordered the cheeseburger. Oh bay this is one of the better burgers I've had. And it takes a lot for me to compliment a burger. Juicy, slight char, Swiss cheese top and a broche bun that did not take over the meal. I'm not sure about the rest of their food but the burgers are worth it.

Yelp
I saw a long line and the smells were phenomenal! You have to save a seat or snag a table outside and walk inside to order your meal and drink. Atmosphere inside was spacious and lovely ! So much room . There is also a back patio that has a mini quad and two large benches out there . Order : the chicken sandwich with coleslaw and a Carmel macchiato. Chicken was crispy and cooked to perfection! The slaw reminded me of home in the south ! Coffee was pulled and poured correctly and tasted great . Views are amazing !! Service was decent . Fast and quick service very minimal . Tables all cleaned and bathrooms are 100% clean and the showers looked great . This is definitely a great place to be .

Yelp
Busy on the weekends, nice views of the docks, good food. Order at the front and then find a table.

Yelp
We came for lunch on a Saturday. You order at a counter and sit down to wait for the food to be brought out to you. There was a short line. The cashier that took our order was a clearly moody gal. Plenty of seating. The menu is extensive with great options. We ordered fish (3/5) and chips (2/5 French fries), clam chowder (5/5), and a Cubano sandwich (5/5). The food came out quickly. Good food but the vibes were lacking.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid fish sandwich and delicious tarter! Fries were great too and I am not much of a fry person. My partner got the fish and chips and some donuts to go and he thoroughly enjoyed it all. Service was quick and the place was clean with some rest outdoors spots to eat.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday at about 11 AM and were surprised to find it not busy at all. We ordered two lattes and a dirty chai. The lattes were fine, but we didn't like the taste of the coffee in them very much (I think it was Starbucks, but it tasted off). I tried the dirty chai and thought it was good. We went again the next morning (Sunday) at the same time and it was very busy. We ordered two dirty chais and an americano. The americano came out after about 15 minutes (coffee tasted a little better in that one), but it did not have the dirty chais with it despite being on the same check. After waiting another five minutes, we went up to check on the dirty chais and they did not have them in the queue. They said they would get them going for us. Another five minutes and they finally came out. However, they tasted horrible--very sweet; nothing like the day before. Waited 25 minutes and ended up tossing the dirty chais in favor of another coffee shop in Friday Harbor. We didn't try donuts at the cafe, but we had them at the wedding we were attending and thought they were only okay. They are the cake-y kind of donuts. Didn't strike us as anything particular special or "fame" worthy.

Yelp
Really great breakfast and lunch options. We drove over from Friday Harbor pretty often because we enjoyed the food so much. I loved the avocado toast in the morning and the chicken tacos or crispy almond chicken salad at lunch. Their breakfast biscuits with strawberry jam were also heavenly. Wish I knew what brand of jam that was, it was the best! Coffee is great here too (they serve Starbucks, one of the few places on the island that does). The doughnuts were yummy too. :)
google avatar

Joanne R.

Yelp
Yummy everything was perfect . Fast nice people clean. Very pretty view . It's really nice to walk by boats too.

Yelp
It's open for breakfast and lunch. Both meals are great. I love the chicken sandwich! The employees are always really nice and I appreciate all that they do. They even have Starbucks drinks. I don't like that they close half of the restaurant 1-2 hrs before closing so they can clean up early. I also don't like that they will wait to start lunch orders past the lunch start time. That's just not right. I prefer lunch food over breakfast. I realize that they're making more money on breakfast items but if it's your posted lunch time then take the lunch orders. Here's a funny one. The trashcans are only on 1 side of the restaurant (where they have the least tables) so most people have to walk through the restaurant in order to toss their trash then walk back through the way they just came from if they want to exit out to the dock. Just put another trashcan on the other side of the restaurant. It's an obvious issue. I bet it's so they don't have to empty another can.

Yelp
You should visit this cafe while in Roche harbor! We enjoyed breakfast and dinner here: First of all the donuts are fluffy and delicious, the frosting isn't too sweet-which unappreciated. The avo Toast is a must, the bread was nutty and crispy, topped with thin slices of avocado, crumbled cheese, tomato and micogreens-Delicious! At lunch I enjoyed the crispy and moist fish sandwich! This is a must stop, even just a quick stop for a donut and coffee on the pier!

Yelp
There was lots of free parking in front, hard to find the restaurant. Tables were available indoor and outside. Very nice menu, we got here and there was a line out the door. They are open only for breakfast and lunch from 11 o'clock until 4 daily. Their donuts are supposedly world famous. We ordered at the register, nice wraps, soups, sandwiches, burgers and seafood. There was a line for the soda fountain, it was nice to order and get refills of ice cold drinks. I ordered the San Juan lamb burger grown locally my husband Ordered a grilled chicken Gorgonzola salad. Lunch was exceptional, generous portions, flavorful and really delicious. Very pretty restaurant right in the boat at the marina
google avatar

Jonie L.

Yelp
My picture of the fish and chips should say it all. I've never had such a thin piece (more like slice) of fish and chips, ever. It was pretty much unacceptable, and I regret not saying anything! I think it was $16 or something like that too? What a sad mistake. I was hoping for a better experience, given it was pretty much the only option in the area, but it was just disappointing. The two upsides was that it is a cute little cafe at Roche Harbor right next to the water and... the maple donut we also got was actually pretty good! It had a good chew to it, which I appreciated.

Yelp
In my opinion, the only breakfast worth eating on the island. We dined twice here during last weekend's stay at nearby Snug Harbor. Day 1, I had the carnitas breakfast tacos. Delicious and delightfully filling. Day 2 I had the Everything breakfast burrito. And by everything, they mean everything. It was loaded, dense, and tasty. I had to try one of their doughnuts as well. Nothing to write home about, but tasted good. I mean, it was a doughnut. Who complains about a doughnut? My only complaint... and this is why only 4 stars... is that they have an unhealthy obsession with grease. Everything I ate was *literally* dripping with oil. It took 8-10 napkins per meal, fully soaked in grease, to clean my hands. I get it, cheese and butter aren't exactly healthy ingredients. But even this was too much for me. Even with that, this is the only place I will eat breakfast on SJI. We tried a few others... but they just don't compare.

Yelp
Cookie cutter place, Truman show atmosphere, but still did an okay cuban sandwich. Great place for birthday parties for 8 year olds.
google avatar

Peter B.

Yelp
I heard this place had great donuts so I stopped in and got donuts. They were, in fact, good donuts. Good, solid cake donuts with good frosting. Simple as that! Next time, I'll probably try the food too :) It's right on the water so the views are superb. Well worth a visit.

Yelp
Pay attention to where you park some spots are reserved some are 30 minute and some are 2 hour. Everyone was friendly and helpful even though they were busy. We got our food pretty fast it was all correct and very good. The gorgonzola chicken salad, chicken was perfect and it had the perfect amount of everything for every bite to be yummy. The Cubano was very flavorful and they have great buns. Kids cheeseburger was good just a regular burger however the buns make it a bit better. After you eat there is a few things to wander around and look at, made a nice trip.
google avatar

Yelp
Interesting little spot. You order at the counter, and then grab a seat with the provided number. Breakfast and lunch only, and both menus are really good! You HAVE to try the donuts. Absolutely delicious. I really liked the classic breakfast, and the chicken Caesar wrap. They have a full espresso bar as well!
google avatar

Jeff G.

Yelp
First time here and it did not disappoint! Every time I go to a new place, I usually order the special. That day, they celebrated national taco day with some delicious carbonara tacos. They were delicious and I'm from Phoenix! Juicy and just the right amount of spice. I also got the clam chowder, as most of the restaurants around there serve it. It was also tasty, but spicy with lots of black pepper. If your in Roche Harbor, they're aren't many choices, but if they're like this one, eat here!!! The seating outside was beautiful and the service was excellent!
google avatar

Mike U.

Yelp
The parking was easy to find but the restaurant wasn't. Once we found it however we saw the line out the door. Open for breakfast 7-11 and lunch 11-4. It is casual, counter style service where you order at the counter, take a number and your food is delivered to your table when ready. Andrea had the San Juan lamb burger grown locally I had a grilled chicken Gorgonzola salad. Both were very good and we also enjoyed the marina view.
google avatar

Yelp
Fast service..Had omelet and coffee Out door seating and service is excellent. Spinach omelette is awesome

Yelp
In the hustle and bustle of the Roche Harbor waterfront, this restaurant is a nice place to get standard grill faire without the crazy prices of the nearby sit down restaurant. Recommend one of the smash burgers. Deliciously flavored and full of juicy goodness. Also had a kids menu which wasn't posted but i appreciated for our little one to be able to get chicken strips. Ample outdoor seating on the dock with umbrellas for shade.
google avatar

Kayva C.

Yelp
The Lime Kiln Cafe on the Roche Harbor marina has some of the best donuts on the island. We had maple donuts, which were perfectly sweet with amazing moisture and texture. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the overall environment was cozy. We will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Ludia J.

Yelp
Located close to the water and had a pretty view of the harbor. The food was alright though. It wasn't anything super special. Delicious but nothing out of the ordinary breakfast joint. I was really excited for their house made donuts but they weren't as warm as I thought they would be and tasted more like bread than a donut.
google avatar

Yelp
Reviews were all over the place so wasn't sure what to expect. We weren't too hungry so the 4 of us decided to split 2 items. I walked up to the counter and placed our order telling them we were splitting it. For $1 extra each they will split it, adding more fries. We got the grilled cheese and their special, the green chili, bacon and avocado burger. One thing I didn't like, but did not take any stars away from them, was when paying with your card you are asked about a 15%-20% tip. Since we seat ourselves, place the order ourselves and asked to bus the table ourselves, I found that adding a tip that size is asking too much. I did push the custom tip and gave them a couple of bucks for bringing our food to the table. We got our food within 10 minutes. Luckily it was a rainy day with only a couple of tables occupied. The food looked good with a good amount of fries in each basket. She did ask if we wanted bbq, ranch or mayo. My daughter and mother started with their grilled cheese and said it was great. I started with fries and they were yummy. My husband and I then tried our burger. It was one of the most moist, juicy burgers I've eaten in a long time. The half burger with fries were so filling too. We did not leave disappointed! Thanks guys!

Yelp
Friendly staff - yes Tasty donut - yes Great venue - yes Tasty lunch - yes Only regret is that we didn't make it for breakfast. We showed right after the lunch kick over and some breakfast items were still making it out to the tables - all looked amazing!

Yelp
We were staying in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, but drove out to Roche Harbor 2 days in a row to eat at this cafe. There are plenty of other restaurants on the island, but this one was a winner with their delicious food and gorgeous views. It's a casual cafe and you order at the cashier, then take a number, select a table and wait for your food to be delivered to you. The food comes out fairly fast, depending on how busy they are. On the 1st day we went there for lunch, and I ordered the fish & chips. The fish was moist inside and crunchy on the outside, just the way I like it! It also came with tartar sauce and coleslaw. My husband got the fish tacos and said it was amazing! The 2nd day we went there for breakfast and I ordered the prime rib eye hash (one of their cast iron skillet breakfasts), and OMG! That was a winner! It had prime rib, russet potatoes, peppers, onions, sunny side up eggs, horseradish sour cream & green onions for $13.95. I'm still dreaming about it. My husband got an omelette and said it was tasty as well. On both days, we also got a donut. I don't know how they make their donuts but they are out of this world! Even if you don't typically eat donuts, you've got to try theirs! Based on my review so far, you'd think this would be a 5 star review all the way. Unfortunately I have to drop it to 4 stars based on the service, and it really was just one girl at the cashier who was extremely rude and should not be interacting with customers. When we arrived the 2nd day she asked if we had been there before and we said yes. Then she said, "you know the drill then" and walked away. Umm... how about "welcome back, how can I help you?" Then I started taking photos of their menu so I could share it on Yelp, and she said, "you don't need to take photos. The menu is right there." I told her I was taking them to post on Yelp, and she said, "well they're already on Yelp too". Umm... since when can she tell me what photos I can take or not take? We were so put off by her attitude and poor customer service that it left a bad taste in our mouth for the restaurant overall. Surprised that they would hire and keep someone like that on their staff. If you decide to go there, just know that the food is great, and the service is good overall... as long as you don't come across that girl.

Laurie S.

Yelp
We used to love to eat here but it had been a few years since we had been here. It was a very expensive breakfast for bad food. We could literally see through our pancakes they were so thin. I understand that this is on an island and expect to pay more but at these prices I was hoping for better food and some kind of friendly service. Staff seemed very unhappy (angry). We had to stand in line to order then bus our own table. Seriously, go somewhere else!! We won't be returning.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
Remember the old fashioned cafeterias? Well, this is sort of like them, except they serve really nice food. The service is good, the outlook is nice and the seating, both inside and out, is comfortable and well placed. We stood in line and ordered coffee, which was nicely prepared, then we both had avocado toast with a side of sausage and bacon. There was nothing to complain about. The food was very good, the coffee (Starbuck's) was excellent, the place is nice, it's good value for money and the service is friendly and swift. Just one thing though...it seems that a high percentage of the staff in many of the eateries at the Roche Harbor Resort are school age. It's not a problem...just interesting.

Kelsey L.

Yelp
Quick service. Stopped in for lunch and was greeted by a very sweet server. Great views. A great relaxed spot to view the sail boats. Portion sizes were perfect for lunch and the clam chowder was delicious. Definitely a great spot in Roche Harbor!!
google avatar

Jennifer Z.

Yelp
We went there late in the morning. It was very quiet in winter. The decoration is outdated. The waitress was vey kind and got us the breakfast right before they closed the breakfast time. The food was vey delicious.

Yelp
I think I'm spoiled by Seattle's amazing donut shops with fluffy yeasted donuts, because I really did not get the hype around the donuts here. Yes they are freshly made, but recipe-wise, these are your standard ringed donuts with regular frosting on top. We tried three different kinds of donuts after waiting in line for around 30 mins. All very meh, but not bad. You line up to order at the counter here, and servers come around to the table afterwards looking for your number. On a busy day (we went during weekend rush), you'll want to watch for food that might be yours, because the server had a hard time finding our table which was in the corner, and we had to go to kitchen to ask about our food (which was brought back after server gave up looking for the table number). I got mildly nauseous after getting the eggs benedict here, not sure if it was the benny itself or my eggs over-easy. Maybe best to stick to pancakes/sandwiches, etc, which looked much better as I was peeking at other tables. Overall, my personal experience here wasn't 100% positive, but the plus side is your surroundings are beautiful and you are looking out at the harbor through lots of windows. And the prices are decent compared to other island restaurants!
google avatar

Rachel A.

Yelp
We were excited to try this little spot but after waiting in line 20 minutes were told we couldn't order lunch. It was 11:06. Lunch started at 11. We asked how much longer and were told 45 minutes, even though we were ahead of line. This type of business practice is unacceptable. What's worse is the staff wouldn't tell us we'd be waiting longer. They just kept accepting customers ahead of us. We waited 35 minutes and gave up, asking for any other restaurant. If you look at any other professional establishment, this would be considered outrageous. We felt looked over and were insulted by the entire process.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a breakfast review. If you're feeling very picky about your food, knock this down to 3 stars, which means "A-OK." If you want coffee, a snack, or a quick meal in a welcoming place that has just the right personality for the setting around it, keep it at 4 stars and come in looking forward to what you'll get. This is right out at the end of the dock in the marina, and a lot of the crowd here arrives by boat and wanders over. There seem to be quite a few tourists and maybe some locals lining up, too. The line goes down the dock sometimes at breakfast, especially during the summer. You come in through the door, past the espresso machines, and order at the register. You get your number and find a seat. The breakfast choices were appealing, lots of scrambles, hashes, and pancakes and such. The staff are a little goofy and chatty, but in a fun way. Prices were good. A bunch of us came in after a guy's weekend on the island, and we ordered a variety of stuff from doughnuts to full breakfast. I had the prime rib hash, which was tasty and cooked perfectly, but could have used a ton more seasoning. Given the crowd of well-heeled suburbanites coming in here while on vacation, they probably can't season the food too much more than this even if they wanted to. Overall, when you're in Roche, you're probably relaxed and enjoying yourself already, and this place will keep your vibe going just fine. I'd love to come back often, even if only because it means I'm in this great setting.

Yelp
Had the halibut and chips, And the quality and flavor was excellent! I'm a bit of a fish and chip connoisseur especially when it comes to tartar sauce and this place is a 10 in my book. Is my first trip here but definitely can't wait to come back again and the first thing I'll do is eat here
google avatar

Mitchell V.

Yelp
Got some breakfast sammies. Price is right and the flavor is what you want. None of this aioli and arugula bullshit. Meat, cheese, bun. Wish it woulda had American cheese for that extra simplicity. The donuts are great. What more do you want? Perfectly cooked, a little crispy, the right size.
google avatar

Mikaela M.

Yelp
We got food here twice since it was the only spot open in Roche Harbor. The quality of the food is pretty mediocre and overpriced, but it is nice to be able to sit outside to eat. Apparently, they are famous for their donuts, which I did not get to try. Both times I went I got sandwiches - two different types, the BLAT and the Cubano. Sandwiches can come with fries or cole slaw. Their fries are crispy and decent. I also got an iced latte, which was average.
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
Great little cafe serving breakfast and lunch. Get it to eat inside or go grab one of the outdoor tables to enjoy harbor views! Their doughnuts are made fresh daily so it's easy to justify one (or two) while you sip your coffee and wait for your food order. Really any excuse.
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
For the donut only: the maple donut was so perfect. Light, not too dense, with crispy edges but soft inside, perfect. My sister said her chocolate sprinkle donut could use more chocolate (thicker) and hers wasn't as crispy as mine. But still delicious!

Annabelle L.

Yelp
We loved this restaurant! Beautiful views and great selection of food. Donuts are terrific and we especially enjoyed the carved beef sandwich and the salad.

J. M.

Yelp
We try to eat here at least once whenever we are on San Juan Island. Our favorite is the Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado & Tomato (BLAT) sandwich with coleslaw. Their coleslaw is particularly good. When the weather is warm, it is pleasant to sit at one of the tables outside. We've always found the staff to be very nice.
google avatar

Brad A.

Yelp
My go to breakfast spot. The coffee and doughnuts are great. Lunch is fabulous. Great coleslaw and burgers are great. You won't be disappointed!

Tiara L.

Yelp
We opted for the Roche Harbor Tilted Skillet Clam Chowder and Kodiak Island Cod. The food was just as delicious as the view. We had a wonderful time soaking up the sun outside overlooking the harbor. The staff were very nice and friendly.

Whitlock Racing W.

Yelp
We stayed at a home near Roche Harbor for my 50th birthday, I think we came to the café every day whether it was for donuts, breakfast, or lunch! Everything we had was delicious everyone was super friendly and it was a great place to bring our family! We cannot wait to come back!!
google avatar

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Went here in 2017 for the first time. It's a good place to go grab a light lunch, relax outside and try not to feed the animals. The food is like fast food, you walk in and order and you have your food provided to you the same as fast food. It's a nice and quick lunch to have.
google avatar

Todor B.

Yelp
This place has been a family favorite for decades. No matter the season, stopping for a coffee and a donut is a must. Service is friendly, staff is great and food is consistently good. I like the skillet for breakfast but their specials are great too - don't miss out when there is corned beef. Most plates run around $15 which is fairly good. Portions are very large so come hungry, enjoy the view and bus your own table. I will say that you can't leave here if you have not had their homemade fresh donuts. They are perfectly in between Krispy Kreme and Top Pot. The right size, breadiness, and air.y favorite is maple but chocolate sprinkles is a contender. Get two, at least.
