Rooms seem to have been recently been renovated. We had a large party that stayed in the two apartments, the loch view rooms and ground floor rooms. Views are lovely, everything is clean and comfortable. The two side rooms are perfect for socialising. There is limited parking on site but there is a large low cost car park just across the street so not an issue!

Extremely poor quality experience: Really loud noises from restaurant directly below the lounge area. You can hear the noise over the TV. Very unrelaxing. Constant food smell around the apartment. Food smells really strong in the bathroom. Kitchen vent is directly below. It’s like you are living in the restaurant. We stay in a lot of hotels and self catering and this isn’t worth the price. Both cupboards in the bedroom were dirty. Old chocolate wrappers in the master bedroom cupboard. Dirty kitchen cupboards. Bathroom is dirty and dusty. No bath tub products. No one showed us to our door. We were walking around the property in the rain trying to find our accommodation. We were given confusing instructions for location of the entrance door. And after arriving from an 8 hour journey we were greeted with complex instructions for a fire alarm in the kitchen, the staff member seemed more concerned with the restaurant if it were to go off. And then we find the extractor isn’t working on the cooker. No wonder you have had issues in the past with smoke and alarms. There is also a loud dripping sound out of the bedroom windows. Even when it isn’t raining. All this for £300 a night you would expect a totally different experience. Shall never be staying here again. Left a really bitter taste.

Stayed at the Lime Tree Hotel in Fort William and had a very pleasant experience. Historic building, very central location – shops and restaurants within walking distance. Our room was freshly renovated: large, modern, great soundproofing, and even USB-C charging ports. Only downside: the wooden bedframe creaked quite a bit. Breakfast was simple but with the option for freshly cooked dishes, which were delicious. Private parking is available – a big plus in Fort William! Overall: stylish renovation, great location, friendly service. Would definitely stay again.

Ideally located in Fort William as a base for visiting Ben Nevis and Glen Coe. The people running it were lovely and couldn't be more helpful. The restaurant food was great but it's not exactly cheap. The breakfast fry up somehow wasn't quite right. I would say though although clean and tidy everything in the room felt dated but that didn't matter as we were out and about for our stay.

Wonderful two-night stay in this old manse. We had rooms one and five, both with views of Loch Linnhe. Traffic noise from the road did not bother us at all. Room one on the first floor was a bit more spacious with a settee as well as a separate tub and walk-in shower. Room five was on the top floor up two flights of a curving staircase. Fortunately we discovered if you park around back there is a back door you can load suitcases out from. ||It was unseasonably warm during our stay and when I requested a fan, the desk clerk popped over to the shop to buy one! ||We enjoyed breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, Silly Goose. Dinner was especially impressive with upscale playing and exquisite entrees and desserts. All the staff we encountered were helpful, patient and kind.

Review of the Lime Tree Hotel Traveled thru for one night July 10.25. Arrived around 19:00, after hours note posted but very prompt service . Smooth and polite check in. Room 12 must have been recently remodeled new carpet, drapes clean and spotless. However very small for two adults. Tiny armoire, one luggage stand. Patio door to parking area not very private nor secure. Poor window ventilation as it opens into car park bathroom window opens into public walkway from rooms 11&10. Needles to say this area of the hotel likely a recent conversion and not the charm of the main area. Avoid 10,11,12 especially at the $247euro charged The bed gets 1 star it’s an American “double “ lumpy. I bottomed out at 5’11 and 210 pounds. Had to take apart the duvet: used the filler to sleep ON, used the cover as a light blanket. Otherwise with minimal air flow and such a heavy cover we would have overheated on a night in the mid 50s (F). Over priced for a small room with inadequate space, ventilation, and doors windows open on street level parking lot. Zero “charm”. Positive note: breakfast was perfect. Great service and delicious food! No I would not stay another night.

Stayed for 1 night in a very small room with a very small bathroom, but the room was clean and tidy. not sure if I would describe the whole place as a bit shabby chic or needs a bit of tlc?, one thing we did notice is if you had the window open in our room (no 3) there was a very strong smell of fumes from the boiler flue which was really not good..the high street is literally a 2 minute walk away which is handy as the restaurant is closed on Mondays so we had an evening meal in one of the pubs which was ok. Parking on site is ok if not a little cramped. Breakfast was good and the lady serving it was very nice, and she made a big fuss of our dog which was nice, Fort William itself is a bit of a let down and nothing really to see. Overall ok but not brilliant.

Excellent hotel and restaurant. Felt very homely and the staff were very helpful. The room looked a little tired but was comfy and fine for us and our two small dogs. An excellent location for Fort William high street and ideal for the surrounding attractions.

Yelp
A true hidden gem!! I'm not sure who finds themselves out in this part of Scotland. It's a less busy part of town, but it seems like a perfect, quite stop for couples wanting a countryside vacation, hikers who love the thrill of the mountains or those just seeking a little refuge from the city. We planned to stay nearby in Glencoe and looked for a restaurant. The internet had little advice to offer but this restaurant came up multiple times with glowing reviews. Silly Goose is located in the Lime Tree Inn and it's pure perfection! We were greeted kindly and welcomed into the cozy dining space. Spacious but very romantic. We started with drinks enjoying local gin and whiskey. My husband got to try the Sassenach that he'd been eyeing! For dinner, we got the ribeye and chicken. We were so impressed with how well these were cooked. So soft and moist! We were too full for dessert but they had a nice menu of options. The restaurant is spectacular and worth the visit if you are in the area. Be sure to make a reservation as they did have to turn folks away!

Yelp
My friend and I were touring Scotland and Fort William was one of our overnight stops. We booked a hotel room the night before our stay and didn't really know what to expect. Ryan (the restaurant manager) answered the phone and was so helpful - he even encouraged us to book a reservation into the restaurant - and we're so glad we did! The restaurant inside the hotel is called The Silly Goose and the food was absolutely amazing. I had a request to not have certain spices and Ryan fixed it right up perfectly with the chef (David, I think his name is). The accommodations were just what we needed after a long day of road-tripping across Scotland - quaint, clean, and met all our needs - it even included a gorgeous hot breakfast! The food and accommodations were fantastic, but if we're being honest, it is the staff that made this such an incredible experience. Ryan was absolutely lovely and friendly, and made us feel completely at home. Pamela, who worked the hotel reception desk and in the restaurant was so friendly and willing to help in any way. David, who is owner and chef of the restaurant was lovely and quite frankly has built a fantastic business and experience for his restaurant guests. If you're in Scotland, be sure to stop in Fort William and stay at the Lime Tree Hotel!

Yelp
Hotel - Charming and comfortable Our family of 4 recently stayed in two rooms in the older section of the hotel facing Loch Linnhe. Both rooms were lovely with comfortable beds and furnishings. The one on the 2nd floor had a window seat and sofa with amazing views out of the loch and was more private but the window did not open (which was suboptimal in hot weather). The one on the 1st floor had windows on two sides of the room which allowed for a nice cross breeze but didn't have that 'Wow" seat with a view. The ground floor public rooms were very nice (particularly the 'map room') though sadly we never really had the time to just stay and enjoy them. The location is hard to beat. Just across the street from the end of Ft. William's 'downtown' area it was quiet yet incredibly convenient. And the staff was welcoming and quite helpful. All in all I would strongly recommend the hotel.

Yelp
Lime Tree offers up innovative and excellent dishes using local Scottish produce. The staff were kind and attentive, and started us off with a tasty curry amuse bouche. To start, we shared the scotch ramen, which was made with fried haggis, chanterelle mushrooms, and langoustines -- it was delicious, with a great haggis-musty flavor. For entrees, we ordered the bree (a saffron-based seafood stew chock-full of trout, squat lobster, etc.) and the pan-fried trout. Both were lovely, with the latter entree being particularly tasty -- crispy skin in a nice pool of butter-chive sauce. For dessert, we were equally pleased with the roasted pears, which came paired with honeycomb crumble, an excellent ice cream, and a bread-pudding like pastry. All told -- including the two drinks we got -- our bill came out to 77 GBP, very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received!

Yelp
Exquisite food, nice staff. We had great canapés (vegetarian option) and amazing starters. Pigeon was perfectly cooked and the vegetarian haggis was excellent, with walnuts to add a crispy note. We had Napoléon portobello as mains, which were once again really tasty! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend this restaurant, we enjoyed the great food and our evening in Fort William. Restaurant is on the road, just steps from the loch.

Yelp
You have to try this place just to see if the service was as WEIRD as it was for us! Our innkeeper called to get us a reservation. Thank goodness. Because basically the place was maybe 1/3 full, but we watched them turning several people away. As for us, we were told our table wasn't ready yet -- but we could sit in the lounge and have a glass of wine while we waited. Then, someone came and took our order -- while we were STILL in the lounge and not yet at our table! Finally -- we were allowed to go sit down at our table. Meanwhile ... nothing discernible had CHANGED in the dining room... no diners left and no new ones came ... I guess for some reason you just get to sit in the lounge awhile first. The wait staff seemed generally unsure of themselves and did not know the answers to any questions we had ... although one guy did go ask someone else to get the answer. once we finally got to the table, the FOOD was really quite amazing -- this chef is worth seeking out and worth 'enduring' a little bit of oddness. I can't say i really LIKED the grouse but I CAN say i think this chef presented it in the best way possible. I had never had grouse and am pretty sure i'd find it to be QUITE dreadful prepared by a less skillful chef.

Yelp
Very good food (breakfast & dinner), friendly staff and pretty large rooms with sea view. Also they offer free parking. You're only 200-300 meters away from the "city center".

Yelp
We were very comfortable staying in April 2014. No temperature problems though the floor was rather creaky in our room. Shower was great, spacious and accommodated all three of us without problem though there was an obtrusive post in the middle of the room, we just wrapped a towel around it so we could see it clearly in the nighttime. We stayed here on two separate occasions and both times were very satisfied. Unlike other reviewers experience, the staff are friendly and greeted us very professionally. The setting is gorgeous. Lovely seating rooms, replete with maps and mountaineering memorabilia. There's a lovely art gallery for perusing though we very much wanted to get out and see the true attraction, the Scottish countryside.

Yelp
Lovely place! Right by the water. Older building with updated rooms though bathroom not so much, but with a tub. Best reason to stay here is the close location to shops and restaurants as well as water views. I was not thrilled with the food to be honest. It was elaborate but seemed overly fussy for the taste and price..Just not quite it for me. They contacted us a few days in advance to get our dinner reservation. Looking back, that was a strategy I would resist next time.

Yelp
Our stay at the hotel was uneventful. The hotel is freezing though as the heating only comes on in the evening and is then off for the rest of the night. This was June but the temperature was about 7 degree. I guess this is standard in Scotland. The owner gave us a small heater for our room. There are two nice areas to sit at the front with fireplaces. The room was decent. We stayed in Room 9.

Yelp
Great, not so common, special plates. The presentation of every plate is very nice, the staff is, nice location and cosy interior. One negative thing: not a lot of parking spaces!
