Lime Tree Hotel

A nice hotel that is very well located. The staff were professional and helpful in letting us store our bags there before checking in. The room was well sized and very clean. We had a very nice breakfast following our stay. There was some noise from the street during the evening/night, but this was expected given the age of the building and single glazed windows. There seemed to be some good sound proofing in the room, as we didn't hear other guests which was a positive.

I had stayed here twice before when it was family-owned and loved it. There is now a noticeable difference- sadly, the charm has all gone. My room didn’t have 100% clean feel to it and the curtains were torn in places and the lining held together by tape- see photos. The water glass was dirty, and the carpets need a good clean so they smell fresh at least. This applies to the room and the stairs. There is also a faint food smell which travels to the room so the ventilation needs work. The throw on the bed did not smell fresh either. The desk was full of marks / chips. The heating was not working (the room was cold!) and I was given a lousy little heater. Reception was friendly, if a little casual but it can’t be faulted. I complained about the cleaning issues and the manager (I assume) said they’d tend to it but he barely listened. |I wouldn’t stay here again as clearly there’s not much attention to the details which made the hotel special and sooner rather than later it will become like all the other run-down London hotels, if Room Mate don’t put money into maintenance and don’t pay attention to details.

A delightful hotel, very handy location and extremely kind and helpful staff. My wife is sadly unwell and as she found the stairs challenging Selma immediately looked for a room on a lower level and moved us. Much appreciated. The rooms are charming, well kitted out, comfortable and it was surprisingly quiet. In other words, an excellent hotel with The Buttery next door serving a very good breakfast. We will be back.

Had a wonderful stay here in one of the “generous double” rooms. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The interior design of the room is exceptional— wonderful textures. I had to spend much of my of time working in the room, and I couldn’t have asked for a lovelier space. The WiFi was also fast and reliable.

Had a quick few days in the UK and stayed here at the end of January. Really beautiful hotel. I had the most basic priced room and still found it exceeded my expectations! Comfy bed, nice little view, just a good place to rest in between doing things. The staff were all fantastic, very welcoming and kind! Would def come back and stay.

This is a lovely little boutique hotel, centrally located in a very pretty area of London. Don’t come here expecting corporate blandness (as some reviewers seem to have done!). Come expecting a cosy vibe, beautifully decorated rooms, steep winding staircases and a taste of London history. The building was built two centuries ago and the UK (thankfully!) still has at least 8 months of the year where the temperature doesn’t get above 20C. Of course London gets hot in the summer, but filling our historic buildings with air con units won’t solve this - in fact, it’ll only make the problem worse. So enjoy the friendly staff, the great location, and the gorgeous decor. I stayed two nights this week on business in a comfy room and it was quiet and well appointed. Lovely bed. Great breakfast at The Buttery too.

My New Quiet Heaven In Belgravia. A Hidden Gem of a Boutique Hotel in Belgravia with gorgeous quiet garden. I work in Belgravia but had never stepped inside. OMG the staff were incredibly polite all smiling nothing was too much trouble, I went for breakfast with my daughter and we both love the place. The food the service the quiet garden was just perfect. Highly recommended 👑👑👑👑👑

Having stayed here a number of times I thought I would book myself a last minute luxury overnight stay . I knew the single rooms were small and was quite happy about the bathroom being in the wardrobe space . What disappointed me was how uncomfortable the bed was as it sloped significantly to one side , so much so that by 2 am I put a rug and magazines under it to prop it up so I stopped rolling towards the floor ! This really is unacceptable when claiming to be a luxury boutique hotel. When I told reception the next morning their only comment was ‘ok we will mention it to housekeeping’ . The other complaint was that the shower ran consistently hot and cold ! It is disappointing to see a lovely hotel let standards slip , especially when the overnight stay doesn’t come cheap . I will not be staying again or recommending to friends, which is a shame as the location is excellent .

Lovely staff and simple but luxurious accommodations. There is a walk up the stairs. Beware. But it's that way for every historic building. This is just a sweet boutique experience I really like. No room revive but they have n adjoins restaurant for breakfast and lunch that's got fabulous coffee and food. Lovely restaurant is next door for dinner. Good location. Walking to many sights.

Ssshhhh! I honestly don't want to tell anyone about the Lime Tree Hotel - it's only 26 rooms and probably the best kept secret in this very posh area of London!! But for you, Yelp, I'll spill the reasons why you should stay here on your next visit to London... 1) The Location is awesome. You know the three rules of real-estate, right??? location, Location, LOCATION! Lime Tree (hence-forth, LT) is located in a very posh area of London. I saw McLarens and Rolls-Royces parked ON THE STREET where the hotel is located. Who parks a USD$200K+ car ON THE STREET?!? It is short walk to the Victoria Coach Station(s), Trains and Underground (Tube). There are plenty of pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and shops around. Our room overlooked the Peggy Porschen Bakery, which I kid you not, is Instagramed during all hours by "influencers". I only hope they get as much busy as they get featured in pics on the Internet! Also, down the street is Philip Treacy, Milner to Royalty! Again, LOCATION! 2) I would be remiss if I did not mention The Service at LT. There is an eight-hour shift rotation of lovely front desk people that check you in, collect your key when you leave (yes, there is a physical key to your room door and they ask that you leave it at the front desk everytime you leave). I am goingto butcher their name spellings (probably), but during our 8 night stay here, we came to know Simone, Martine, Maggy and Laura very well and all were charming, helpful and total professionals. My mother has stayed here several times before and was hoping to speak to the owner, Matt and Charlotte, but they were off on holiday, but I hear they are as hard-working and amiable as the Wondrous Women of the Front Desk (henceforth known as WWFD) 3) The Buttery - the SMALL breakfast/lunch restaurant in the LT (but you can't charge your meals to your room in the LT). The Word is out on on this place - there were just as many Locals eating here as there were guests at the hotel. RESERVATIONS are HIGHLY recommended (they are on OpenTable). I wrote a seperate review on The Buttery, so do a Yelp search and find that, but you honestly can't go wrong here. We ate 4 of the 8 days. TomTom across the street is also a one-location (at this time) gem and is packed after 9am. Early bird gets the good breakfast! Much love to the Lime Tree! I'll be back someday

If you're an occasional traveler wanting to use the money you save on accommodation to spend at Harrod's, the Limetree Hotel is a fine spot. My stay in room number one, however, reminded me in size and comfort of a university dorm room. Its smallness incited claustrophobia and the sink inside the room (as opposed to the bathroom) was logistically nightmarish. Don't get me started on the shelf mounted on the wall above the bed to hold a tea kettle... Since room number one's on the first floor of the B&B, every single guest must pass by it to get to or from their rooms so forget any sleep past 7:00 or so in the morning. Oh, and check out time is 10:00AM.

Looking for a quaint, family run bed and breakfast close to everything London has to offer? Well look no further that the Limetree hotel. This hotel is conveniently located to all the sights of London and is only a few blocks from the Victoria Station tube stop. While once run by David and Marilyn Davies- they have recently passed the reins over to their daughter Charlotte and her husband to keep the tradition of fine service going. There are 28 rooms spread throughout the 4 stories of this historic inn. Ask when you make your reservation as while each has it's own bathroom- some come with tubs only so if you want a shower you need to request it. There is also no elevator so if stairs are not your thing- ask for a room on one of the lower floors. The room rates vary on the size of the room you get and during slow times you are likely to be able to negotiate a better rate. My favorite part of this hotel is the breakfast room. Come down in the morning for your choice of a warm English breakfast or more of a continental style but whatever you choose- you can bet that you will be warmly welcomed by Charlotte and her husband. And on a rare day- if David isn't off golfing- you're in for a real treat as here is a man who likes to tell stories about the people he's met and will quickly point them out on the photographs on the walls. There is a small garden out back and they also provide a computer to check your email on if the need arises. The neighborhood is also full of little shops and restaurants that are just begging to be tried. Not fancy- but if you are looking for a neighborhood place to stay while in London, the Limetree is a great choice. Oh, and tell Charlotte I said hi!

Great find. Thank you Rick Steves. We loved the neighborhood. The rooms were adequately appointed, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was tasty. We had two rooms, one a queen and one two twins. Super easy to hail a cab and just a short block to Victoria Station. A lovely walk to many area sights. So glad we had a chance to stay here.

Absolutely amazing, homey, and welcoming hotel. Close to great restaurants and stores and in walking to the touristy places. Terrific breakfast every morning. All of the staff is so nice and welcoming!

My husband and I stayed at the Lime Tree Hotel April 2008; we had a room booked via Internet at a place not too far from the Lime Tree; The place was not as advertised. Basically it looked like a lot of shady things went down at this other hotel; It was late; But there was no way we would sleep in our room; Walking round London early in the morning with luggage is not fun.. Right when we had thought all hope was lost; we came accross the Lime Tree; well lit; CLEAN; and taking a peek through their glass window; looked like a comfortable and welcoming B&B.. The staff here are amazing; they took us in right away and made us feel at home. No hassle at all.. They helped us into our room and said that if we needed anything give them a shout.. Our room was on the bottom floor ; window overlooked a small rear garden filled with rose's..I loved having my early morning lay in waking up to this view.. Our rooms were clean; spacious; and bright.There is a safe if you need to leave anything of importance at your room; There's always someone at the front entrance;internet available for a small fee; as well as postcards if you wish to get in touch with friends and family.. The B&B is close to Victoria Coach station; so if you need to catch an early flight back home; this location is not only convenient; but it's close to most tourist attractions; but far enough where you are able to have a restful night in.. The breakfast here; lets just say they don't skimp on portions or quality as well as choice! This is now our to go to place when visiting family & friends in London... Oh and check out the restaurant next-door; it might look expensive; but it's really reasonable and quite good!

Love this place. It's so nice & cozy. It's in a great neighborhood & convenient location to get around the city. The rooms are nice and quaint. The breakfast is great. They give you a choice and it's a great meal. The staff who work there are incredibly friendly and help with any questions you might have. Definitely recommend this hotel!

The perfect little B&B, you feel more like you're staying with a good friend then at a hotel. The staff is very helpful and really sweet. Also the Lime tree is in a wonderful location, you are in a neighborhood with cute little shops and a few blocks from a number of London's biggest attractions and Victoria Coach station. It is also true what they say about the Breakfasts- I always started my day full and happy. The Hot Chocolate on the cold mornings was perfect as well (Stayed in early December). This is my hotel of choice whenever I am in London.

Very disappointed. The Belgravia location was close to Victoria Station which was handy. Rooms were so small I had to climb over the bed to use the sink and there was no place to set my suitcase; and I like small rooms. Decor was dreary and worn and tasteless which made it worse. Female staff were sloppily dressed and not very solicitous when we asked for help with dinner reservations and one of our bags (no lift and we were on the 4th floor). Male staff were much better. The impression I have is that no one cares. They do have a good location and the price is low (£95).

We (Mom, Dad and 28 year-old daughter) stayed at the Lime Tree Hotel for 6 nights the first week of June, and found it to be an amazing experience. The location is perfect: 3 minute walk from Victoria Coach station (National Express from Heathrow) and within a 10 minute walk of the Victoria Underground, which provides easy access to many London attractions. The neighborhood is quiet and has several family owned restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance. We were in Room 4, with 3 single beds, 2nd floor and a lovely garden view. The room is a good size for a European hotel with two end tables and a chest of drawers for storage. The bathroom is small (shower, toilet and sink) but understand that this is an average size for Europe. There is no counter space in the bathroom but mom and daughter took over the top of the chest for creams, makeup, etc. Remember to bring your own wash cloth. We learned that Europeans do not provide them and have 3 brightly colored ones we travel with. Be forewarned: the bathroom sink in this room is on an elevated tile base. A couple of stubbed toes will get you to be careful approaching the sink! We kept the bath mat rolled over the edge after the first whack. Another warning for those who pack heavily: there is no lift (elevator in American). The stairs are steep and narrow which can make it difficult to get large heavy luggage up to and down from the room. Don't be afraid to ask for help from the staff; they'll be more than happy to lend a hand. Speaking of the staff, they are extremely friendly, kind and helpful. Clearly, their goal is to make your trip as wonderful as possible. They will make reservations, supply maps and directions and welcome you back from a day of sightseeing with a cheery smile. Same goes for the dining room folks who serve up a hearty breakfast (included in the price) with a smile every morning. Bottom line: if we ever return to London, we would not hesitate to stay again at the Lime Tree Hotel. You should consider it too.

This quaint little hotel was definitely different. The service was great, the staff were human, as supposed to the robots you get in a chain hotel, but at least you believed them when they smiled or said niceties. The room we had (22) was very much on the small side, but did the job for one night. I cant fault the location if you're heading into London, 10min walk to Buckingham palace, directly between victoria and sloane square tube stations, and a constant flow of taxi's outside! Its a bed and breakfast, so its included in the price, unfortunately we didnt quite make it to breakfast, so i cant really comment on the standard! Overall the staff were nice, room was average! If you're looking for an affordable non-chain hotel this little place is great!

My fiance and I spent a week at The Limetree back in March of 2009 and found it to be completely lovely! The location was great, the breakfast yummy, rooms quaint (but what room isn't in London?) but comfortable.... the thing that really stood out to me was the staff. Seriously, they were so attentive, helpful, kind, friendly .... I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a safe, clean, comfy place to lay their head after a long day of sight seeing. (If you have disabilities make sure to ask them to put you on the lower level- the stairs to the top floors are STEEP! :)

Great location and beautiful place. Affordable with lovely clean rooms and incredibly helpful staff. Breakfast was a delight with warm croissants brought to every table with a smile from the friendly staff. Everything on the menu is delicious! Safe, beautiful, clean neighborhood close to Victoria station and really anything you could want. A short walk away from Buckingham palace. Definitely will come back here!

This well priced hotel has an outstanding location which is in a lovely part of London; both safe and convenient. You can quickly and easily walk to Buckingham Palace, and bus, train and Tube service from Victoria Station. The Sloane Sq. Tube is also close by. The breakfast room is quite pleasant and the breakfast is served to you and good. Those warm chocolate croissants were my favorite! Staff is nice and very helpful if you have questions about sights and transportation. The rooms are quite small (which may bother some Americans), and some have an awkward layout: for example a safe on the floor under the bedside table, but you cannot beat the price in such a wonderful neighborhood in Belgravia (I never saw so many Bentleys parked on a street!). If you dislike climbing stairs, this is not for you, as there is no elevator. Being on the top floor led me to be sure never to forget anything, so I didn't have to make the climb more than twice a day. I had a lengthy stay here in which I stored my heavier bags for trips to other parts of England more than once, which was extremely helpful. Ebury Street is quieter than a main street, but there is a restaurant next door that can be noisy, the buses from Victoria can be heard, as well as street traffic going by. It is difficult to keep the window open in the summer due to this noise. If that is an issue for you I would recommend asking for a room in the back, as there are less traffic sounds there. Another noise issue: the chambermaids speaking very loudly after breakfast in an unknown language that disturbed me while I was trying to relax, read maps, and decide which sights to tackle that particular day. There is a computer to check email or look up local sights, and that same room has guide books and a couch to browse. The outdoor garden in the back is pleasant if no smokers are out there ruining it with their scent. I would prefer they be banned from smoking there. I will definitely go back in the future.

This is a great hotel in London. Situtated in Belgravia, London it is close to Victoria Station and major bus stops. It's also walking distance to Buckingham Palace. I want to especially praise the staff at Lime Tree. They are some of the nicest and gracious people I have met in my travels through Europe. They are super friendly and will bend over backwards to help you. I looked forward to the breakfast every morning. It is full service and the choices are wonderful. I enjoyed the fresh baked bread offering prior to ordering. Our room was just perfect and offered a view of the life below in the streets. My husband and I often sat out in the garden and enjoyed the visit from many beautiful birds. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London and would return myself if ever in England again.

They stuck us in a claustrophobic room too small for the number of beds jammed into it. The room smells of mold and has a gnat infestation. I don't think this is a legal room. We're being ripped off, lied to, and forced to sleep in a dank basement. We checked the hotel prices and bookings online and they lied to us about not having a decent room to move us to. Based on the prices and availability advertised online they are LIARS. I don't mind getting what I pay for, but I do mind being taken advantage of.

My wife and I spent a really great weekend at the Lime Tree in early January, we were looking for somewhere nice and central to base ourselves for sale shopping but didn't want to splash out on upmarket accommodation. This place turned out to be ideal for us, with very comfortable rooms, all the stuff we needed (good breakfast included in the price, free wireless internet in the rooms) and tons of character. We didn't previously know the Ebury Street area at all but it is quite a find tucked away between Victoria and the rather upmarket Sloane Square (ps - recommend using this tube station rather than Victoria as it is MUCH less busy!). One of the best things about the Lime Tree are the owners, a charming young couple who have taken over the reins from the previous generation of the family and really made us feel at home without fussing over us too much. Definitely worth a look if you want a good value, comfy hotel in a brilliant location.
