We came here because of a pregnancy craving and left very happy. The Beef Rendang was rich and tender, the Yellow Ginger Rice was fragrant, and the Mie Tek Tek had great flavor. Everything was authentic and thoughtfully prepared. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We had great conversation and felt a connection. You can feel the care in both the food and the service. Highly recommend this Southeast Asian Food restaurant!

I had laksa and it was so yummy that I AGAIN forgot to take a picture until I had a few bites already! Haha they used very fresh shrimp because it was firm and they were big. Mostly deveined. The coconut based soup was good to the last drop. I had their homemade chili and I loved how spicy and aromatic it was. You can taste the fresh Thai chili and a little bit of shrimp paste in it. Very friendly server who told me that if I ordered their off-the-menu chili crab during lunch, they get the crab fresh from the seafood market across the street immediately. Can’t get fresher than that!

Decent Malaysian food. Nothing fancy. Not a great deal price wise. Decent taste. Small restaurant. Roti Prata used a yellow dipping sauce instead of the red signature sauce I was expecting.

Lime Tree is truly a gem. Not just because the food was fantastic but because my partner has Celiac and finding safe places to eat out can be extremely challenging. Not only did the host bring us a marked up menu with all the gluten free options, there was SO MANY OPTIONS!!! We got the Chicken Satay, Singaporean Curry Noodle, and Beef Rendang. Honestly, it was the best Chicken Satay I’ve ever had in my life…like holy cow. Come out of your way for this place and you’ll be glad you did!

When my lunch mates and I couldn’t decide which southeast Asian cuisine to have, this little restaurant scratches every itch! You almost can’t go wrong with the variety offered. We had the roti appetizer which was nice with just enough crisp in the right spots along with a nice curry dipping sauce. The Hainan chicken was yummy along with the season rice as was the shrimp and glass noodle and curry chicken. We washed it all down with Thai teas that hit the spot! We’ll be back to support this local gem both in person and for pick up!

Great food, Great Service, Great Taste and Great ambience. After several days in San Francisco, today we finally met a restaurant that serves Indonesian cuisine. Chicken Satay, Madura Soto, Fried Noodles, Chicken with Rujak spices, Gado-gado, Crackers, Tempe, and don't forget bottled tea in box packaging. In terms of taste, it is quite a treat for traditional Indonesian cuisine, with friendly service. The Soto Madura has a very strong spice, the Chicken with Rujak seasoning is quite bold, the fried tempeh which is fried the size of a thumb is a favorite menu and a fight between friends. The delicious fried noodles with a subtle savory taste are our joy when eating at this restaurant.

Delicious!!!! Absolutely loved everything. This is a hidden gem of SF as it’s not super crowded but super delicious. We got the baked salmon, the roti starter, the basil tofu, ginger rice, and Singaporean curry noodles! Everything was delicious!

My favorite char kway teow and Indonesian fried noodle (mie goreng jawa). It is very tasty. Great customer service, too! Recommended 👍

Quality/Quantity - Glad we were able to stop by today. I have been meaning to come by for a while. Due to it being a travel day today, we did not arrive until approximately 1pm, an hour before they close. But the best news was that we were the only customers, so we had the best service. It was also good to see the owner here and to catch up with him. Not that I expect him to remember us/me. Today we got the following: Martabak - Wanted something different than our usual roti. It was good, but next time I will go back to my usual roti. Pepe's Salmon - Chef's suggestion. I was worried when it came. So small. But the flavors were amazing! Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The salmon melted in our mouths. I scraped the leftover sauce and put on my ginger rice. My wife thought I was crazy as if I have not eaten in a week. Actually, if you are following, I have only been eating salads and fruit for the last few weeks, so I guess I was hungry, lol. Char Kway Teow - Their version of the Chinese chow fun flat pan fried noodles. This was good, but barely enough for one person. Again, we are light eaters. Complimentary Tree Lime Ginger Rice - OMG, what flavors?!?! So good. Our guest, who loves ginger, did not care for this, which surprised us. So I took the generous left overs home. Keep in mind that we are light eaters and if it was not for the rice, we might have left hungry... At minimum, there would have been NO left overs. So know you are paying for quality and not quantity. Atmosphere - Very small restaurant. Indoor table and counter seating. Metered street parking, but if you are lucky, you can find a free residential parking space a few blocks away. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8pm, closed Mondays. Service - 6 stars. So welcoming. Both from the long term chef (11+ years) to the owner. Great suggestive selling. Professional, polite, etc! Price - $100 - This includes a few to-go dishes for the people we will be visiting next - Sambal Okra and Singaporean Curry Noodle. See pictures. We were craving Malaysian food near Presidio and came across this cute place with ample amount of seating inside. The waitress was super nice and accommodating, and made sure that we were taken care of. They seem to have a slight variety than authentic Indonesian options, but were able to easily accommodate vegetarian by substituting meat and meat broth with tofu/broccoli. The portion sizes of the food were great for SF! We got share everything family style. 4/5 Roti Paratha was pretty good and flaky, though I think at other places it is definitely thinner. The curry was a bit watered down too, but had a nice coconut flavor it it that paired well. 4/5 Mie Tek Tek was soupy and very comforting. Apparently back at home they don't make it soupy but here they do, and I would say that it surprisingly works. I just would have wished for a bit more flavor, but loved the noodles. 4.5/5 Sambal Okra was really nice, and the sauce was sweet and sour and worked. I felt like it paired better with rice but can be good on its own too. 4/5 Mie Goreng was unlike what I have had at other places before, but the flavor was solid. I would say it's kind of like a better version than chowmein with more flavors going along, but it does come with egg and the tofu was the soft kind. Overall glad to have stumbled upon this place and tried something new in the area! Definitely worth visiting again

I've had this place bookmarked for a while and finally had the chance to visit today. We arrived at 2 PM on a Saturday, and it was completely empty--understandable for a late lunch hour. The server was very friendly and let us choose any table we wanted. The interior was clean and simple. My husband was craving curry, so I let him pick the dishes. The food arrived fairly quickly. * Chicken Curry: This was the first to arrive, but unfortunately, it was a miss for me. The chicken was quite dry, and I'd rate it 2/5. * Lime Tree Ginger Rice: I was expecting a small bowl of rice but was surprised when a soup-sized bowl arrived. The rice was the highlight of the meal for me. 4/5 stars. * Laksa: The presentation was appealing, especially with the large prawns on top. While the prawns were good, the broth was underwhelming. This dish earns 3/5 stars. * Chicken Satay: This came toward the end of the meal, and we'd honestly forgotten we ordered it. The satay had a strong sweet note that felt off--not quite teriyaki-sweet, but still unusual. I'd give it 3/5 stars. Overall, it was an okay meal. Both servers were friendly and courteous, which we appreciated. I'm glad we tried it, but it's a 3/5 experience for me.

Had lunch last weekend and this restaurant was a treat. So many interesting sounding dishes I can't wait to go back to try more things., offerings from several Southeastern countries. We started with the Roti Pratha which arrived steaming hot with a wonderful curry dipping sauce. That alone was worth the visit. We also had baked salmon that was cooked in a banana leaf. The salmon was coated with delicious spices. The tofu dish was also delicious and the Jazmin rice was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent and the ingredients were fresh and delicious.

Service was great and kind, prices are okay, but the food is not very good. Ordered the Nasi Goren and Rendang. The rice was incredibly disappointing - very little flavor, extremely oily, and nothing like the actual dish I've had in the country itself or other places in the U.S. Just tasted like low quality standard fried rice. Beef rending is usually chunks or cubes of meat and is falling apart tender. It was quite tough/chewy and the sauce was lacking all of the rich, coconut, ginger, etc. flavor that you usually get from the dish. The sauce was basically just a generic gravy that had a little curry and coconut flavor but was nothing like rendang. Overall, won't return. If you just want a meal that isn't bad per see but definitely isn't good or proper indonesian food, maybe it's a place for you - they appear to have lots of dleivery/carryout orders.

This place is a good casual spot for generous southeast Asian dishes. The standout dish was definitely the okra. For reference, I tried another okra dish elsewhere that wasn't nearly cooked nearly as well! Everything was awesome including the very friendly server and cook. The interior is pretty unassuming, super causal, regardless I would definitely go back! Highly recommend.

This is second time that my mom and I visited this restaurant. We went to Irving location but they didn't have Gado-Gado. So we must come here to try. We were really happy with this dish. Laksa is one of our favorite too. I loved the broth which warmed me up in the cold weather well. Ang was our waiter. He was so friendly and nice. My chicken wings were so so for me. Nothing special for that. I will not order that again but I really want to try their crab for the next time. I also loved their ginger rice too.

Let's start with service - to me that's a big part of the dining experience. We met Aung who is so very nice, engaging attentive and informative of their offered dishes. I was torn between a couple of their selections, and Aung was nice enough to take the time to see what my palate was craving. I opted for the Hainan Chicken and was pleased with my selection. This entree is a nice portion and definitely shareable with two accompanying sauces. I was also in love with the Sambal Okra and Green Bean dish and I have to say, their sambal is one of the very best I've ever tried. The Roti and Pratha was delicious as well. The roti nice and light and not oily and pratha was very flavorful. I'm looking forward to my return visits to try their other selections!

Lime Tree is my favorite restaurant if I'm craving Asian flavor. The best hospitality and even tastier food. I love the silver noodles with chicken. The roti is amazing!!!!! Can't go wrong with their salmon! The string beans and okra are so delicious as well! A bit spicy but it has a good kick. If you're into that. If I could rate the service and ownership of Lime Tree, it's 110%! Aung was super vigilant especially since I drink fountains of water whenever I dine out. The ambiance is relaxing and well-lit for any occasion. We've celebrated a party of 16 here and I've dined in with my family and friends separately as well. BEST experience EVER!!!

This place is great for groups and families. I loved all the appetizers, especially the roti with curry sauce and corn fritters! Super friendly staff and they have another location on Clement that I will definitely be trying soon.

Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We go almost weekly. They are so kind to my kids, who love the roti, satay, and laksa. We grownups like the salt and pepper crab, which you just need to order by 4 pm from "secret menu."

Rice is perfectly cooked, good amount of chicken flavor and texture wise. Solid ginger scallion sauce. Red sauce is a sweet and spicy type of flavor, offering a well balanced side of dips. Chicken was poached pretty well, white pieces were still decently moist. Had to try the laksa because I couldn't find another restaurant in SF that made it. Apparently it's not supposedly made with vermicelli but I wouldn't know if it was authentic or not. However this still hits the spot tho! Nice soft noodles along with a creamy coconut flavor. Bean sprouts add a hint of freshness. Both dishes were delicious for a quick snack or something for the road. Something bout the nostalgia from getting it from my Chinese restaurants hit different, I could be bias but like I said, not bad and I wouldn't mind coming back, just not my first choice for hainan chicken. Ps. Don't go to rooster n rice lol, Thai kmg just don't hit like hainan chicken.

Amazing home style Indonesian food, unparalleled anywhere in the city or beyond. I go here often not only because the food is phenomenal but because of the warm and inviting hospitality every time. I order something different and interesting each time, with spices completely new to the palette. I highly recommend this restaurant and say hello to Ming from me! PS it's really good for people with gluten intolerance given at least a few solid options on the menu.

Very flavorful food. Good modest place to dine solo as well. I went for lunch and really enjoyed my meal and the fast service. It's a good spot for a casual meal.

We had an excellent crab meal. (Make sure you call ahead for crab dishes) We had pepper and chili crab. Both were delicious. Enjoyed them with ginger rice and sambal okra. The flavors were very authentic. Service was excellent.

Delicious authentic dishes. Whenever I'm feeling a craving for Malaysian/Singaporean dishes this spot does the job! My favorite is the Char Kway Teow and the roti pratha. Service is speedy and I like to take it to go as the restaurant is quite small and below ground level.

This is more of a 3.5 stars review. The service was friendly and the deco was clean. We ordered the followings: -Special Chicken Wings (not on menu, but can order) it was decent but we had better. -Malaysian curry roti was good, but portion is small. -Garlic noodles was meh - Laksa noodles was ok, not flavorful enough. -Stir fried water spinach was good Overall, it's worth a try but can be better.

Amazing flavorful food! I got tofu & shrimp curry and sambal okra with a side of jasmine rice. I loved the sambal but I found the okra to be a little undercooked for me. I'd appreciate it if they were all consistent in cooked texture. The tofu & shrimp curry was a 10/10! Tender shrimp & tofu pieces enrobed in a creamy curry.

At first glance the restaurant seemed pretty basic in terms of atmosphere -- light decor and ample seating. It did seem like service was a little overwhelmed because several of the tables still hadn't been cleaned up. Unfortunately our side of ginger rice was mistaken for plain jasmine rice, but our waiter was attentive and even apologized for our short wait for food. I had the nasi goreng and beef rendang. The nasi goreng was solid! The beef rendang comes in a pretty sizable portion in small bite size pieces; it's not that aromatic as I feel some Thai-Malaysian restaurants might make it. Instead, the sauce is more on the rich side similar to a chinese takeout stir-fry consistency.

An unassuming spot nestled in a busy part of Clement, was craving some southeast Asian food and had wanted to try this spot for a while. Walked in on a Sunday around lunch and was immediately seated. FOOD: Paratha. Excellent. Flaky, crispy, with great texture and umami. The side curry had excellent coconut and salty flavors to complement the bread. Hard to go wrong here. Laksa. Probably what I was most excited for, but sort of most disappointed in. The soup was honestly pretty lacking. Not enough shrimp paste/fish sauce, and definitely not spicy. It has the potential, and maybe today's was just a little off, as the noodles and fixings all made sense with a more flavorful broth. I'll have to try again, but the day I had it, it was a miss. Soto Madura. A tangy, and umami filled beef soup served with a TON of rice. An excellent choice with the great tangy soup balance and tender beef. The perfect combination to go with rice. Definitely recommend. Okra. Also excellent. Maybe a tad on the undercooked side for my liking - some of the pieces were a bit tough, but the flavors are excellent. Big shrimp and fish flavorings with the shallot sauce. Definitely recommend. Overall a great experience. Good food with hosts that make you comfortable. Definitely want to try more on the menu and give the laksa another go. I'll be back.

A casual restaurant with incredibly friendly staff and tasty food! I ordered takeout, and it was ready in just 20 minutes. You have to try the ROTI PRATHA, NASI GORENG with chicken, SINGAPOREAN CURRY NOODLES, and for dessert the BLACK RICE PUDDING. Totally coming back again! ENJOY!

Service is great. But the food is really not that good. I agree with some reviewers here that this is not authentic southeastern Asian food. The dishes are modified to fit Americans. The one I ordered has Chinese sausage on it. But the dish tasted totally different than the one in China and most of these Chinese restaurants here. Too much sugar in the dish.

Delicious food in a so welcoming space. The owner was fantastic. He suggested some dishes weI would have not ordered and they were a bit! He also gave us extra treats. He was so nice he won 2 new loyal customers. Flavors are true to origin. This a little piece of Southeast Asia in SF!

We called early yesterday to see if they could seat a large party and accommodate vegan options. The owner was so warm, caring and excited for us to come in. It was a breath of fresh air for long-gone customer service. He even made something off the menu for our vegan guest. Each dish was made with love and expertise. I had the yellow curry glass noodles with chicken which was made with lime, yellow curry and a delicious green. We also recommend the nasi goreng, char kway teow, mie goreng jawa, mie tek-tek, roti pratha, and corn fritters.

Love this spot!!! I was craving some Malaysian food and I found this on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The roti paratha was good, the dipping sauce was a coconut curry (veg friendly)! We got fried rice, garlic noodles, chap chai (veg stir fry with vermicelli noodles) All the entrées are really good and full of flavor! Will definitely come again if I want some authentic Malaysian food :) parking isn't terrible around that area either, lots of street parking and diagonal parking.

When you want that homely cozy feeling with lot of love and care, this is the place. Very simple, and without of the world food. Felt really good about everything. A must visit. Great service too.

Was passing through inner Richmond near Golden Gate Park while visiting SFO and pretty randomly chose to eat lunch here. I was pleasantly surprised. Although this is a small and not very fancy restaurant, it has a good atmosphere and a very kind and attendant wait staff. There is a broad menu of South Asian dishes with a Malaysian/Singapore tilt. I had rice noodle dish which was aromatically and deliciously flavored. This is not the place for a romantic lunch or ambiance, but the meal was superb. Street parking was easily available midday.

Amazing chicken satay, great food, very friendly service! Loved that their Thai iced tea was not too sweet, just right!

Corn fritters and prawn - couldnt tell there was any prawn but still delicious 4.5/5. Beef rendang with rice doesn't disappoint. Very tender and well seasoned with a curry like sauce 5/5 Char Kway Teow was somewhat spicy. Betweeen and mild and medium. But the noodles were cooked to perfection. There were only a few slices of chinese sausage that were a few milimeters thick which was dissapointing 4/5

Served slightly warm with a shiny skin, no gelée on top. The service was nice when we ordered for takeout. But when we opened the door to the restaurant we got a whiff of sewer, probably a sewage issue but they should air that out or get it fixed. We ended up ordering the hainan chicken rice. They were nice enough to give dark meat when requested. The rice is flavorful, the soup is very neutral so its great washing down the rice and chicken. The chicken itself was juicy and tender and it pairs well with the sauces. It was around 17 dollars and it fed two people pretty well! Would definitely come back for takeout but wouldn't take a party there or eat inside for now.

Delicious authentic Indonesian sambal terasi (sambal matang)! Make sure you ask for it every time you come here to eat. Put it on everything. I even bought some of that authentic "Jawa Timuran" sambal terasi to take home. It reminds me of Surabaya. I ordered a Martabak, which I think was kinda bland and soggy. There was no cucumber pickles and chili peppers on the side, no crunch. And these martabak was definitely one of the worst I've had. Ain't no street vendor style martabak we all know and love . Rendang (actually it's more like kalio than rendang) was succulent and good. Very generous portion but it doesn't come with rice. You must order rice separately. Lack of spice, that's why I recommend you to ask for sambal to add it yourself. Elevate your rendang with adding that awesome sambal together. Great and friendly service, Thank you Vanessa! Will stop by here often to buy authentic fresh Indonesian sambal. Actually its also much cheaper than making it yourself or getting some packaged sambal from richmond new may wah Chinese supermarket nearby.

I was thrilled to find another delectable Malaysian restaurant stateside and off of new c-town Clement Street! My brother placed our large order for 4 hungry adults and a noodle obsessed 3 year old right when they opened on a Sunday morning. We arrived twenty minutes later and they let us know it would likely be another 20-30 minutes since the order was so large. I sat down and enjoyed the inviting environment while waiting for our order to be up. It's always a good sign when there are thriving plants inside a restaurant. This space has great light and has good energy. Their menu is extensive and I loved everything we ordered. Flavors were authentic and everything was delicious. I will definitely order from them again the next time I'm in town. This was a win for all in our group!

A lot of the dishes from yelp pic are not available anymore so it was kinda disappointing. The owner ( older guy) is pretty nice. The corn appetizer is good. The spicy noodles soup is ok.

I order "Vegetarian Garlic noodles with broccoli and tofu." I give them major kudos for being open to vegetarian/ vegan requests. Make sure you order at least 30 minutes for takeout. Recommend for their service and thus yummy dish I always order!

I won't have any food pictures of this place because we inhale them too fast. Let's just say that almost everyday we debate about ordering togo lunch or dinner from Lime Tree. That damn budget and my desire for retirement gets in the way! if I can afford a personal chef and lime tree is willing, all you good people won't get to try their excellent food ever again (evil laugh trailing off..) What do we order: curry chicken, hainan chicken rice, Latka, any rice dish, seriously - everything is good depending on your mood. Just be mindful some dishes are "a la carte" so you may have to order rice separately. Whenever we order their food togo with friends, we fight over the leftovers. We are lucky to be in the neighborhood and spoiled to get their food togo. I am often jealous of the diners who eat in and have so much fun with the friendly service - will update review once I get to try dining in more. My mouth is watering as I type this review. I wonder what I would order for dinner from lime tree tomorrow night.... See you there!

I enjoy curry very much but I had to have it with the roti as a side dish. The real superstar of this place is the Lanksa which is delicious and fulfilling. It's becoming my favorite Lanksa in San Francisco. Lime Tree Southeast Asian Kitchen has great service . I appreciate great food and great service when it comes to casual dining.

Good service. Good price. Food is not bad but not super either. I still think it's worth a visit if you are in the area. I think it's 3.5 place. Garlic noodle had strong garlic taste which was good. Other dishes we tried were OK but not enough to say "yummy!" Overall I think price-taste is fair.

Went in for the first time the other day--food was delicious! Got the corn fritters, chicken curry with ginger rice, char kway teow (loved the sausage), mie goreng (great sauce), and a coconut juice (enjoyed the coconut chunks). Servers were nice. Would def go back.

Ordered to go through Yelp. Food was still warm when it came. The roti and curry dip was not for me. The dip was really runny and water like. The ones I've had before was more thick and used red curry versus green. The roti was extra crispy which was good. The hainese chicken and rice was delicious. All the sauces were flavorful from the ginger sauce to soy to hot sauce. I'm usually picky with hot sauce because I like it spicy but this one had a different kick. The side soup was a little bland for me but still good. I loved how they made the rice too. The flavor hit the spot. A spot I would come back to.

Hainan Chicken Rice $17.99 We ordered this for take out and it came with all white meat not one piece of dark meat. Are you kidding?! Everywhere else that has similar plate with chicken has at least some dark meat but not all white meat. For the price it should come with dark meat regardless if we order take out or not.
