Lin Heung Restaurant

This was the best Chinese food I’ve had on the Island! We ordered rice, chow mein, sweet and sour pork, ginger beef, and vegetable chop suey, and every dish was delicious. The ginger beef and sweet and sour pork really stood out! Both had excellent flavour and crispness. We were seated right away, and the staff quickly took our order. The food came out promptly as it was prepared, and everything was fresh The portions were *huge*. Between the two of us, we each had two full plates and still ended up taking home three takeout boxes. Amazing value for the price and incredible food all around. Highly recommend!

+ Servers are quite nice, but... - Servers don't answer questions that well, when regarding their menu: when asked "what are your thickest noodles?" (in Chinese) the response was vague confusion, as if the question didn't make sense. + 1st dish: Soup & Thick Soup, Hot & Sour Soup. Quite nice, with what I can assume as the correct order of spice. + 2nd dish: Appetizers, Honey Barbecued Pork. With many pieces, and a good sauce, this is just a tastier grilled thick bacon. • 3rd + 4th: Hong Kong Style Chow Mein, Barbecued Pork & Vegetable Chow Mein. + Vegetable, Eggplant with Garlic Sauce. + 3: The pork is SO SOFT, and the serving size is big enough for a single meal by itself. Taste works as expected as well. + 4: By a personal professional, the eggplant is great, and overall is better than many of the other restaurants'. For my opinion, though the eggplants' nastier taste does come out every-so-often, after dipping it in the sauce, it taste quite like fish (as advertised)! + 5th: Seafood, Szechuan Seafood Delight. And delight is the right word, as its softness and taste is quite delightful indeed. The spice chosen seems to match as well. • 6th: Hong Kong Style Chow Mein, Shanghai Special Noodle. This was ordered spicy-less and to-go, thus is not included in the rating. + Food quantity is satisfactory for a restaurant of this nature, and to exemplify that point, we only finished one of our dishes. Would come again.

The food and service were absolutely outstanding. I ordered the curry beef on rice and it was truly delightful. The tender beef was cooked to perfection and the rich curry sauce had just the right amount of spice. The portion size was generous, providing a satisfying and hearty meal. In addition, I tried the BBQ duck with rice noodle soup, and it was a flavor explosion. The succulent BBQ duck paired perfectly with the savory broth and the delicate rice noodles. It was a bowl of comfort and pure deliciousness.

Taste so good! Every time I miss food from my home, I come here and they never disappoint me. The waiters were also really kind. Would definitely recommend it to everyone that like Chinese cuisine

I went to this Chinese Restaurant more than three times already , my favorite dish from this place is called fatty beef hot pot, I will post a picture of this dish below . Excellent service and delicious food! Highly recommended! Great location as well! A good Chinese Restaurant for hang out with your friends and family ! I have seen they have so many tourists almost every time I was there !

The price is a bit high, but the food is good. I have visited here twice, but the taste were not the same. But I love tofu hotpot, especially those salty seafood sauce.

The food here is typical HK style. Lot of lunch specials. We ordered from the main menu. The food was good for this type of restaurant.

Nice food, good portion, affordable price (17) , nothing more needed. Nice service, water comes right when we sit down.

Food was decent but very mediocre. Price is a bit high. The staff are friendly but the tables were unwiped when we were seated which we were not told before sitting. Menu is extremely large and are placed under a glass panels on the table. It was very difficult to view the whole menu because both sides contain different parts of the menu. The cashew chicken was recently seasoned but nothing special. The Yu xiang rou si is a bit saltier but doesn't have the characteristic flavors of this dish. We also had a soup that was tasty, well seasoned and a decent portion. Total was $60 after tax and tip. 6.3/10 overall

I ordered take out from their take out menu. When I was on the phone they didn't tell me that they increased their prices. They already charge $3.00 to change from Pork Chow Mein to Chicken Chow Mein. Charged me more than what the take out menu I had said the price was. They offered me a new take out menu. I refused saying I won't order again! The food was already pricey and now they have priced themselves out of the market!!!! I have absolutely no intention of ever ordering from them again. I'm local and will be sure to advise other locals to avoid this restaurant!

Coming from Ontario, and trying everything on island. This place is the best on island, hands down. I just can't seem to find a proper egg roll yet.

All of these reviews seem really bad. But to be honest I thought the food was pretty good. I only ordered takeout, so I can't speak for the restaurant itself. Employees were friendly and nice while I picked up. Food was delicious and filling. Not bad. Will be returning :)

Update: This place has really gone downhill over the years. They came by and brought us quite possibly the most disgusting (clearly off) Wonton Soup I have ever seen. If the chef cannot tell that was off, they should not have a job.

The food is not bad. And as a Chinese restaurant, it is good to have varies cuisines. And because it is near my school, I came there a lot.

The spring roll was pretty good, a little greasy, but then it's rare not to have a deep fried roll swimming in fat. This one was crispy at least and filled with a mixture of bamboo shoots and mushrooms and carrots. The main course was one big plate, with a half dozen pork balls, a ladle of the beef and broccoli and a veritable mountain of chop-suey in the middle. The beef was tender, not chewy and well cooked in the dark, soy-based sauced, with bright green florets giving a nice crunch. The balls were covered in that sweet orange sauce that reminds me of British Chinese fast food. Not very authentic, but in my mind it says 'Chinese' food (as opposed to Cantonese, Szechuan, etc). More a 2.5 star place. I felt like some wonton so I suggested this place as it was nearby. We ordered wonton, beef fried rice noodle, seafood chow mein and ginger beef with rice. First impression was that the portions were small. 2nd impression was that the ginger beef was forgotten by the kitchen. Overall the taste was ok but we likely will not return because of the cost to portion ratio. In my Chinese circles (family), we expect cheap good food from these types of restaurants or at least good value. This one didn't deliver either. Guess this is why my relatives who live in town have never suggested this place - will be interesting what my Mother will say about our choice.

Tried it because it was close to home Was the worst food I've eaten and felt sick after and then got the trots STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place is pretty authentic. I love their soup, especially the shrimp wonton noodle with BBQ pork, it's delicious!

If you like real Chinese food then don't bother coming here. The food is bad, very bland. It is no way near authentic, the kitchen is dirty as hell. My friend found a fly in the fried rice. I've given this place many chances and only disappointment was available. Sure the people there is friendly and warm hearted, but the quality of food is not what Victoria deserves.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years and have always really enjoyed it. However our most recent visit has left us dissatisfied and disgusted. After we ordered our food we noticed one of the workers take a leftover bowl of rice that a previous table left behind and put it BACK into the rice cooker. Secondly we found a bug in our chow mein. While they replaced the chow mein, we found these two strokes unacceptable and will not be returning.

Good, basic Chinese food. This location is much cleaner than the one they had in Chinatown. I had their wor wonton last time. The broth was simple and the dumplings were flavourful. I will be back.

This place is great the food is fantastic , service is kind of lame considering the waiters don't speak perfect English but then again it is a Chinese restaurant and that being said probably the best one victoria has to offer. I had the curry beef hot pot, schechuan fried rice, and deep fried spicy squid. The hot pot and rice were great the squid wasn't too bad either although a little too salty for taste. All in all I really recommend this place, oh yea the price is right too!

I have enjoyed every single meal here! I reccomend the wonton noodle soup with beef flank, I have been getting it since I was a kid! The meals for four are great too if you go with a group, and they consist of enough food for 8 people. The service is always friendly and helpful. They also are a great place for families and kids. Definitely reccomend it!!

so bad so expensive？？？ what makes the owner think they can charge that much ？ 12 dollar for a mix noddle？ without 15 % min service fee.

The portions are a decent size for the price and I usually have leftovers to take back to my room. The food tastes fresh, the beef is lean and not chewy. The BBQ pork and BBQ duck are great. You couldn't ask for a friendlier staff, they are always smiling and helpful. The place is very clean as is the mens washroom. They are usually busy for lunch and dinner, and are one of a few places that you will see a small lineup outside. They have clean record on the Canadian Food Inspection agency which is a plus. Hope this review helps!

Can't comment on the food as we sat for close to a hour and watched all the people that came in after us get their food. Never did get our's. We finally left.

Me and my friend visited the restaurant for lunch today. I had remembered having a good lunch there about 5 years ago. We both had the ' Combo A' our chow mien was cold and the meat and vegetables were soggy as if they had been sitting all day. I went in there starving and left a bit grossed out and still hungry. Freshness is critical. Please Reevaluate your practices.

Hung up on me the first time I phoned asking if they did delivery, messed up our order, charged us the difference and took the first item. Screw these guys.
