Upon attempted check in at another hotel, The Graduate by Hilton, informed that our reservation was canceled because they were overbooked due to construction. We had several rooms booked there for family members, and this last-minute change was very stressful. It took the original hotel hours to solve the issue. Finally, we were booked at the Linden Row Inn as a replacement.|I cannot say enough good things about the Linden Row Inn. It was excellent in every aspect. They handled the transition and the new reservation with ease and were very welcoming when we arrived. Throughout our stay, the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Every single one of them that we encountered was excellent. Vincent at the front desk was particularly kind. Thank you to all of them.|The hotel is in a unique and charming old building. Lots of character. But the facilities were modern i.e. excellent air conditioning on hot nights and plenty of water pressure. Our room was large and lovely. All was neat and clean. I should mention that one of our family members who did retain their room at the graduate was not quite so happy with their accommodations.|We were so pleased with the Linden Rowe Inn that we have booked it for our next stay in Richmond in October.

This is an old hotel that has been upgraded in places, still has old charm. Good central location but on-street parking required or walk a block to overnight parking for $8. Room was spacious tho only 2 chairs in our room. Beds were very comfortable; height may be a problem for some. Bathroom was very simple, a bit dated: Toilet seat and lid were still wood. But towels were big and thick, shower worked fine and kept all the water in the bathtub - no wet floor. Very comfortable for our one-night stay.

I love this place. I loved it more when they offered breakfast and valet parking. No food now and guests need to figure our their own parking. But the rooms are lovely, very clean and the staff is friendly.

I loved staying here! The history, the antiques, the friendly staff, the cat Annabelle, the lovely garden, the walkability to places we wanted to visit. I seek out hotels with history and character rather than modern nondescript boxes or frou-frou resorts. I chose this for it's association with Edgar Allan Poe, and we enjoyed a glorious five night stay--slept better than I do at home. So relaxing to sit in the garden under the trees reading, eating or taking in the sights and sounds. It'll be even better when the restaurant reopens.

Excellent customer service and a beautiful venue for a wedding! Rooms were very nice. Looking forward to the opening of their new restaurant. Parking is a bit of an issue, but not a big one once you figure out the correct entrance to use. I would definitely stay here again.

The inn was lovely. Rooms were comfy, clean and large. Courtyard was peaceful. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The lobby was welcoming and relaxing. Annabelle the cat was sweet and friendly. Easy walk to theater.

While attending VCU orientation with my daughter July 10 - 11, I originally had a reservation with The Graduate by Hilton. They completely overbooked and had to walk at least 7 families to another hotel and most of us landed at the Linden Row Inn. Even though it took 2 hours once arriving at the Inn for the front desk attendant to enter all the walked reservations into their system, which was a bit excessive, I did understand it was a surprise to have all of us land in her foyer while she was checking in guests that had booked directly with her hotel. However, after that blip, I could not have been happier to end up at the Linden Row Inn. The hotel was SO quiet, beds were super comfy, and the rooms were huge and uniquely appointed. The Graduate by Hilton has lost my business, but the Linden Row Inn now has it for at least the next 4 years while my daughter is attending VCU!

Google
We really enjoyed our stay here. The desk staff are so nice and had great recommendations. Anabelle the cat was sassy and friendly. And the suite was epic—one of the coolest places we’ve stayed, with high ceilings, large pocket doors, and antique furniture. We will be back.

Yelp
Richmond was a pit stop before Atlanta, but I wish this was the destination. We found "Linden Row Inn" on Yelp actually and it is perfect. The place has an old school look, with a modern style, in the rooms. Floor to floor you walk outside around an exposed balcony with beautiful banners. On top of the incredible look, the staff were extremely friendly. They joked and laughed with us as week checked in. Only negative, and it's stretching, is there's no parking at the location. You have to drive around the corner to a garage, but the prices are incredible. I am already planning another trip to Richmond and guess which bread and breakfast I'm staying at?

Yelp
I stayed at Linden Row Inn for a night last week when I was in Richmond for a couple of meetings for work. The staff were really friendly, which was a highlight of the stay! The hotel has some historical charm (actual room key instead of a card key, rocking chairs on the porch, large room with character), but it has also seen better days. My room had a connecting room, and I couldn't get that door shut all the way in order to lock it, which was a little creepy (I didn't think there was anyone staying there). I couldn't get the TV to work. The elevator had broken buttons. In general, the hotel just felt a little worn down. Parking is offsite but nearby (just a few minutes walk). The price is right, and the location was convenient, but the hotel definitely could use an upgrade!

Yelp
My stay here has almost wrapped up, and it's been good. The hotel has an air of history and charm to it. My room is on the fourth floor, tucked into the corner, and very quiet. I've slept well. Also, the staff are consistently welcoming. The only two negatives have been the sound of the refrigerator, which is crazy loud while cooling, and the toilet, which doesn't flush all too well. Nevertheless, it's been a pleasant stay. And, at $150/night, reasonably priced.

Yelp
We stayed here for a wedding that was hosted in the courtyard at the hotel. For the price we paid, would recommend this spot! The original room we were assigned had an issue. Luckily, the staff was quick to confirm the issue and shift us to a different room, which happened to be an upgraded accomodation. The wedding in the courtyard was beautiful and great spot for a small group. If you were a hotel guest not attending the wedding, though, you might've been frustrated with the loud music and dance floor that had to stop at 10pm for probably that reason. The bed was comfy, bathroom what we needed, and a few chairs to sit in the room. Nothing that blew us away, but we didn't need that during our stay here.

Yelp
Pros: - friendly staff - cute exterior - parlor suite is spacious - comfy bed Cons: - musty, moth ball smell in our room - furniture in disrepair and room can obviously use some renovation. Bathroom felt like something out of an 80s motel. The whole place could use a remodel. - no valet or bellhop and there isn't parking on the premises - water is not provided. $3 for a bottle - travel cribs are infant sized, not appropriate for toddlers Overall, this is probably a fine place to stay if you're alone or visiting as a couple. Anyone with kids or who has stayed at nicer, historic hotels may find themselves as disappointed as we did. They should sell this place to someone who can spruce it up and help it meet its potential.

Yelp
I stayed here for an RVA staycation and absolutely loved it. The hotel: I've overlooked this boutique hotel hundreds of times. It's tucked right in the city and if you blink, you'll miss it. Once inside, you're whisked away to a little urban oasis. The garden courtyard is adorable and fun to walk around or hang out in. The lobby is upscale and enjoyable -- especially with Annabelle present (the hotel cat!) She is super friendly, always observing and never intrusive. The room: I stayed in a parlor suite with a large king bed and a sitting room. The details of the room were extraordinary and historic. I loved how comfortable the bed was. The travel-sized shampoo, soap, and conditioner were also really great. They didn't dry out my skin and hair as some other hotel offerings do. The water pressure in the shower was perfect too, I didn't want to leave! I would absolutely stay here again and recommend this spot if you want to avoid cookie cutter hotel rooms. Staying here was a real treat.

Yelp
Love love LOVED everything about it. I was there as part of a small group meeting. The staff went out of our way to accommodate us with our room and special needs. I love Annabelle the resident kitty and I love the historic feel. I meannnn, Edgar Allen Poe used to ready poetry to Elmira in the courtyard here, sooo if THAT doesn't add to the ambiance, what does? The room was huge and comfortable. The onsite restaurant was great. The parking really wasn't too difficult in this neighborhood- you just have to move your car around noonish to avoid going over two hours of street parking. (It isn't monitored overnight). I would absolutely recommend this beautiful property to anyone visiting Richmond.

Yelp
Loverly !! I donot wish to ever leave this charming, antique hotel in historic Richmond, Virginia. The occasion: my 22nd wedding anniversary. Venicia was such a fun and engaging presence at check in & later when we were exploring the corridors of this truly enchanting old structure. She was enthusiastic to geek out about the hotel and the resident cat, Annabell. Our room itself is STUNNING. High ceiling, magnificent bed, tall windows & stately drapes, luxurious bath towels, gorgeous nineteenth century stylized lamps, desk, fixtures..... even a faux fireplace to complete the 1800s aesthetic. The bed / pillows were so comfortable, the courtyard beyond our window is quiet and still; we slept wonderfully. Retro lamps lining the broad wraparound porch created a soft, warm glow that sets a romantic mood in the courtyard, but is also easily blocked by the blackout curtains as desired. Shower, bathtub, bathroom vanity all very tastefully updated and in perfect condition. Modern amenities (alarm clock, mini fridge, microwave, television, coffee maker) are present, but do not take away from the vintage feel. A complete collection of Poe works in the room, coupled with subtle raven decor in the lobby and the not-so-subtle name of the aforementioned black cat, all tied in well with the theme of our stay, which ended up being Edgar Allen Poe. - *** SEE my review of the Poe Museum *** The garden courtyard w fountain & tables seems to be largely intact from the original design, it's swept so clean and well landscaped with mature trees and lush planters, it feels like being transported to 1840, shielded from 2023 with elegant brink walls. One can almost imagine horse drawn carriages upon cobblestones roads rather automobiles on asphalt beyond these walls. THIS IS LITERALLY MY FAVORITE HOTEL EVER.

Yelp
A " loading/unloading" area outside the front door to get your things gathered and put in your room before finding a suitable street parking site nearby. Came in real handy since it was raining a bit when we arrived. Super helpful and friendly front desk person. Beautiful, spacious accommodations. The architectural details are gorgeous. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom. Velvet upholstered furniture in the parlor. Even a little tv inside an armoire across from the bed. I mean, who could ask for more?!?

Yelp
Wonderful old grand hotel with creaky floors, old-time feel, an elaborately decorated ground floor with modern amenties included. It feels like a Bed and Breakfast but with the hotel size. Check-in took a minute since they gave me the wrong key to get it in the room, but that was quickly fixed. The location was great near downtown, parking was tricky in the area but I found a nice check parking garage a couple blocks over which is easy to walk from. Cheery staff and no other major issues. Instead of Bibles here expect some Poe.

Yelp
The staff here is friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious, the suites are amazing, and the atmosphere is peaceful. Banika was great! The room I booked wasn't available when I checked in but she worked very hard fix that. She was also full of great suggestions when I asked about places to photograph, eat, and visit. I stayed in two different rooms here - a garden room with two queen beds and a parlor suite. The garden room was spacious, but not what I originally booked. The beds were comfortable, very comfortable actually, and it was quiet - no noise from other rooms or the street. The parlor room was ahhhmaaazzziing!!! It was homey, I loved the period-themed room, the bed was comfortable and the pull-out couch wasn't bad (neither was just sleeping on the couch a great for naps). It had vintage books inside a secretary in the room as well as a book about the hotel. Again, this room was very quiet, no noise from other guests or the street. Parking is pretty much next door so don't let the lack of onsite parking or valet discourage you. I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
History is in the halls! This historic inn in downtown Richmond, has a legacy dating back as far as 1816. From a school to elite young ladies, to a one time home for Edgar Allan Poe, to a Medical Arts Building, these structures have seen change and much glory. It was restored to an Inn in the late 1980's, yet much of its décor is from the 1800's. Antiques and vintage furnishings grace its many rooms and hallways. Although Linden Row's Victorian style is old world, the amenities and the conveniences are modern. It's a gorgeous place to stay, getting its name for the rows of linden trees trees that graced its beautiful gardens. My hubby and I stayed here for one of our anniversary trips, and it was fabulously elegant! We were given the parlor suite which was appointed with a heavy wooden bar, dark wood furniture, cozy sofas, a fireplace and lovely paintings in the living space, and a big comfortable bed with chenille linens in the bedroom. We loved it here! It was romantic, luxurious and classic. We toured the buildings, the courtyard and the gardens, and the staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. We would definitely look forward to another stay at this exquisite inn.

Yelp
One nightstand with light, forget reading for two people. Noisy with two very large bears above me and I could hear everything. My bed shook along with the wall when one of them flopped down on their bed. Their sleep schedule was my sleep schedule. Disappointed does not describe this experience, especially for $200 a night. Photographs make it look luxurious and inviting. Staff was very helpful, restaurant and service was great. Uh oh, they have returned to their den. Earplugs in.

Yelp
Excellent service! Thanks Gerald and Josh for taking my visit to Richmond to an unexpected and charming level! The property has a very exciting history and is regarded as the nation's best surviving row of Greek revival architecture. A childhood home to Edgar Allan Poe whose garden is thought to be a muse for his famous poem "To Helen." Historians have also noted that young Poe first courted his life-long love, Elmira Royster, in the garden where the Linden Row Inn now stands. Many other noted figures have humble beginnings here such as, Irene and Nancy Langhorne. Irene later became famous as Irene Gibson, the "Gibson Girl", and Nancy became known as Lady Nancy Astor, the first female member of the British Parliament, pupils at the Miss Ellett's School for Girls. Furniture pieces within the property takes you back in time. From mahogany armoires to marble top night stands, it is a riveting experience when the past meets the present as you relax with free wifi, large screen TV, cable and relaxing moments in the garden courtyard. It is EI thin walking distance to many dining, entertainment places and the convention center. But make sure your room is in the main house. Larger rooms and better facilities, but the smile and willingness to make sure you have an exemplary stay is accommodated regardless. Add on: wanted to add that all the staff that I encountered were great, helpful and willing to do whatever it takes to make my stay memorable. The free shuttle service to near by spots saved me from having to drive around and it was conveniently located that I was able to walk back after my meetings.

Yelp
Loved this experience! My friend and I stayed here overnight this weekend and have nothing but good things to say! While some reviews mention the thin walls, I'd like to say that this is a historic inn and that was to be expected. It did not bother me one bit. We were actually upgraded for free due to a wedding on property and the room we had was large and seemed very clean. The inn itself was extremely cute! The garden and balconies just had such an adorable feel. We also ate at the restaurant attached for brunch and it was delicious! With the pandemic still afoot, we felt very safe. Masks are required unless you are eating and the check in desk had plexiglass between us and the hotel clerk. They also had me fill out a contact tracing form at the check in time. They have suspended their valet parking, but there is a garage a block down with cheap fees. I believe I paid $14 for 2 days. Overall, we had a lovely experience and both agree that we'll be staying here for our next trip to Richmond!

Yelp
The area was quite hectic. You can pull up in the front to check in and unload-that is convenient. Then you have to find somewhere else to park--not an easy feat in this area. Check in was easy and fast. Upon completion of that as we were ready to walk away is when we were told the elevator was not working due to an electrical problem the day before. The room was on the 4th freaking floor!!! We are due some sort of credit for our inconvenience and the obvious effort to conceal the problem until after we paid and checked in. That is not a fact one saves to tell you as an afterthought. IMO-the room rate is not worth the room. I've had better accommodations at a Holiday Inn Suite for 1/4 of the price. How it has 5 stars all the time is puzzling to me.
google avatar

Yelp
very cute little inn in downtown Richmond!! quiet and hidden away but still a short walk away to the restaurants and shops nearby. elevator was a little bothersome - got stuck open while we were going up to our floor, but was fixed by maintenance almost immediately. no frills historic little inn, affordable and convenient!

Yelp
Wowzers! This hotel was amazing! My husband and I booked a queen room in the garden. The room was small, but very comfortable. Nice bed, pillows, and amazing plush towels. It was raining so we didn't sit in the garden, but rather on the covered porch. Not sure we were supposed to sit on the porch as I couldn't tell if the porch seating was for a specific room. Street parking was challenging as the layout of the downtown roads with the bike lane and parking in the middle of the street during non rush hour made it confusing as to whether where we parked would cause us to get towed between 7a-9a. The hotel recommended a garage and parking lot, but we found free street parking closer...right in front of the library. I was disappointed there was no free breakfast, continental or otherwise. The local art in the lobby was a little bit of a surprise as I would have expected something a little more historic versus the human skulls!

Valeria M.

Yelp
Lovely building, very clean and super friendly staff! Easy check in and check out. Convenient parking a block away. Seemed welcoming to all. Easy access from 95 and quiet at night. This place was recommended by The NY Times and I could see why. Great little taste of historic Richmond without spending a fortune. The building is very old so the rooms might not feel quite luxurious but our room was spacious, clean and welcoming. Nice patios and a gallery to sit and enjoy a morning coffee. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious, staff was awesome too. The best part, was a friendly kitty that hangs out in the front desk lol.

Yelp
Check-in was a bit rocky but overall, I really enjoyed staying at the Linden Row. Conveniently located near the Richmond Arts District area and a 15 minute drive from the Staple Mills train station, Linden Row is a quaint boutique hotel. Pros: - Various restaurants and cafes nearby and not far from the Virginia Common Wealth art museum! - Hotel is also home to a restaurant and bar called Parterre which offers affordable and delicious dinner, lunch, and brunch. - Hotel is really nice and picturesque! Apparently, Edgar Allen Poe used to hang out at the establishment. - Staff are extremely nice and try to be as accommodating as possible. Cons: - Probably wouldnt be my first choice hotel to stay at during the Richmond marathon or huge events in the area since checking in to the room will take longer. Since we visited during a big wedding month and the day of the city's marathon, we did not access the room till closer to 4pm. I did not realize that the hotel's check-in policy states "after 3pm" but it was very inconvenient considering that we had a wedding to go to and missed the ceremony. Overall, I would definitely stay at the hotel again maybe during an off season!

Yelp
This Inn is conveniently located near some restaurants and shops like Pearlys (walking distance). The staff is helpful and the check-in/check-out process was easy. Our room was located in the courtyard area near the outdoor seating for the restaurant. The room was clean and cozy, however the walls are thin so you can hear almost everything outside. It didn't bother us much because the noise was during reasonable hours and it did not disturb our sleep. Their valet service was closed due to COVID, however there is street parking and other garages near by.

Yelp
We stayed here for one night - the room was clean, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Coffee maker and TV in the room. Annabelle, the hotel cat also greeted us. Had a side room near the hotel front that I used to take a business call - thanks to Emily for the kind parking directions. Street parking or garage nearby.

Yelp
Linden Row Inn gives you an early American experience with large rooms, comfortable beds and a great location. The history of the area is used to advantage and overall it's a pleasant place to stay. However, the rooms could really use better curtains, since the window next to the bed opens onto the brightly lit walkway. The curtains did little to block out that light as you try to sleep. Further, if you like to have breakfast in your hotel before starting the day, Linden Row's Parterre restaurant isn't for you. While you can get breakfast, it's all served to go and choices are limited. Even if you want to sit and eat in the restaurant, you're served breakfast in to-go containers. That definitely knocks Linden Row down a star. There are several nearby places to which you can walk and get breakfast. I'd suggest you avail yourself of one of these options. For dinner, Parterre was good though not exceptional. I expected more from the establishment.

Yelp
Thank you so much to the staff at Linden Row. My girlfriend and I were celebrating our first anniversary and wanted to find a nice local spot for a in-town getaway. After an issue with the previous room, the staff were able to upgrade us to a suite. They knew the weekend was special and tried to accommodate us as much as possible. They also are taking safety very seriously, ensuring masks are worn, everything is clean, and you can see the precautions taken by everyone on site. The room was beautiful, granting us privacy and relaxation. The private entrance allows for social distancing, as well as taking you away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The courtyard was clean and romantic, with a fountain and lights, plenty of views from the balconies. We enjoyed dinner at Parterre Restaurant on the patio, with delicious tots and cocktails. And again, the staff was very diligent in taking precautions. It's the only restaurant we've eaten at since this whole pandemic began, and we're grateful for the experience. Our two favorite things were the couch in the room (we now want one for our home) and the rocking chairs on the porch. We enjoyed champagne while rocking and listening to the sounds of others enjoying the evening in the courtyard, then rocked with our coffee the next morning. We had the privilege of also seeing two other couples cementing their wedding nights, and it was amazing to see how other couples were also taken with such a beautiful spot. You could feel the love in the air! We had an amazing time and hope that Linden Row becomes one of our recurring spots for celebrating. Thank you again to the staff and team working so hard!

Yelp
I gotta say - I loved this place - this cute Inn is exactly my vibe. It felt like a B&B but it's in the heart of downtown Richmond only a few blocks from VCU and the Coliseum. Great location really, you can get to anywhere in just about 10-15 minutes and they have a shuttle that will take you within about 2 miles for free and come pick you up. Anyway, let me get to the details! Staff are amazingly friendly and we checked in late at night on a Friday after driving in and having dinner and were greeted by friendly front desk staff and the valet who helped with our bags. Our room was cute and clean with a view of their courtyard garden with little bistro tables. We had the shuttle take us to Cary St. for biscuits the next morning and roamed all around the area ending at Byrd park a few hours later where we called for the shuttle to come pick us up and bring us back. Easily done - they were there in about 15 minutes. Both shuttle drivers were really friendly and said they'd drop us anywhere within a 2-mile radius and pick us back up. Our morning guy was giving us a bunch of history lessons and explaining things about VCU as we drove past. It was neat. The hotel has fruit-infused water around and warm coffee and tea for guests. There is an on-site restaurant that had JUST opened the week we were there that sells coffees and breakfast and sandwiches and such - Urban Farmhouse Market and Cafe that has a couple other locations around Richmond and has fresh local ingredients (YAY!). Great food. We loved it. We grabbed breakfast here the next morning before we left - I had the Veggie Sausage and Egg sandwich with DELICIOUS veggie sausage (perfectly spiced and tasted like legit sausage - but better), egg and cheese on toasted bread. It was really good. My best friend ended up getting the Lox and Cream Cheese with fresh dill sandwich with red onion and capers - YUM. I'll get that next time - it was phenomenal. So good. I'm still thinking about it. At night - the courtyard and outdoor hallways leading to the rooms are very charming - this Inn feels like a small 10 room b&b but has about 70 rooms I believe. The staff were all super helpful and friendly, great location, great food, adorable room. I have no complaints. It's about 2 blocks from the coliseum - I know if I come to Richmond for another overnighter - I'll be staying here. My only complaint is the lack of parking at night - valet stops at 10:30 - and you have to pay $18 for valet - but it's unlimited in and out. There are some garages nearby so if I stayed here enough and got comfortable I might park my own and walk - but the first time I wasn't even trying to deal with that.

Yelp
A terrible customer experience. A dog barking in an adjacent room for 2 hours. No action by staff taken. I paid money to not be able to rest. Unfortunate as your hotel is otherwise very nice. Your desk clerk took no action and informed me that she could do nothing and that the I could just ask for a discount in the morning. That is a small consolation for no sleep.

Yelp
This hotel is just delightful! I stayed on the second floor and while I did hear music from the courtyard (and there's a wedding reception tonight), it quiets down at a decent hour. The location is great, right in the middle of town, and the people at the front desk were so friendly and helpful. The restaurant was fantastic - cozy but not cramped, delicious food, and wonderful service. There was street parking, but I used a lot a short walk away that was only $7 a day and all the in and out you want. I did have to wait a minute for a spot to open up on Saturday afternoon because you can only use the ground level. Someone mentioned it being in a dicey part of town but I didn't see that. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance. I would absolutely return.

Yelp
We only stayed one night, but I have a lot to say about this place. First the PROS: -wonderfully quaint old building, cool living room style indoor space and even better outdoor space -the courtyard area is spectacular, and the upper floors have awesome decks with shared rocking chairs overlooking the courtyard -the location was downtown, seemingly right on the edge of a seedy part of town, but the area around the hotel was nice -the rooms are huge, tall ceilings, , big windows, lot of character Now the CONS: -the beds were a JOKE! They literally put full size mattresses onto twin size bed frames. I'm not kidding. So if you sat on the edge of the bed it would tip over like you are sitting on the far edge of a bench. The hotel even tried to jury rig a makeshift solution where they laid 2x4s on top of the frame to create a larger base for the mattress. Luckily my partner and I found it hilarious, but if it was my parents they would have died. -the front desk staff. I mean they were ok, but the WiFi wasn't working when we checked in and they really didn't care at all. It was like, 'oh really, didn't realize that, we'll have a technician out tomorrow', and we heard other guests calling and also asking about the WiFi. Overall I'd recommend it, but they really need to get a little more hospitality from the front desk and put a little more attention into the beds.

Laura M.

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel. Attentive staff. We stayed here in the winter and the heat was sufficient. Bed was not very comfortable, it was on the soft side. Pillows were comfortable. We had a ghost in our room in the morning. My spouse and I both experienced it. Staff says they have never had anyone say they experienced a ghost which I find hard to believe with the age of the property.

Yelp
We did not have a great stay at the Linden Row Inn. We called 3 times to confirm connecting rooms. When we arrived, we were told that our rooms were not ready yet, to come back at 3 (we arrived at 2 in an absolute torrential downpour). Internet did not work in the lobby and it was still pouring buckets outside so we had nothing to do but sit and wait (which we explained to the desk person). We ate lunch in the hotel to pass the time since we were too wet to try to walk someplace else. When we went back at 3, we were told that the initial person who checked us had assigned us the wrong rooms despite me confirming with her that they were connecting with king bed in one, two queens in the other, so we had to continue to wait. The new on site female desk person was very rude (the man at the desk was very understanding), not at all apologetic or understanding that we were soaked to the bone and had been told our rooms would be ready by 3. Housekeeping couldn't be bothered to prepare our room, making us late to meet our friends as they didn't finish one of the two rooms until 430. When I entered the room they had apparently been so diligently cleaning, they had left crushed m&ms from a previous guest on the floor so clearly they weren't that diligent. After all that the rooms weren't even connecting technically (just some odd hallway with no key or lock of it's own, so the doors had to be locked, thus completely negating our entire reason for waiting for hours) and were not the beds we were promised. Floors were VERY creaky (so loud they woke my husband), air conditioning was explosively loud, our outdoor dinner dining reservation was canceled because of the rain at Parterre and then we saw tons of people eating out there anyway (we ended up having our party of 8 at another restaurant). Bad communication, rude staff, creaky floors, not the rooms we requested and a lie about our dinner reservation. Needless to say, we were not impressed. If someone arrives early and shares that they have driven from far out of state (we came from North Carolina), at a minimum the rooms should be what they've reserved and available at the time promised. Neither happened in this case. I would not recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I was so pleased with our stay here. The charm of this place outweighed the very small room with a buzzing fridge. It's just beautiful here. Lovely lobby. It can't be compared to staying in a regular hotel. The courtyard is wonderful- I wish we had been here in warm weather. Our room was small but so charming and clean. The bathroom was modern and large though, great shower. The staff was very friendly. Urban Farmhouse Market and Cafe is right there inside which is wonderful. We got coffee at checkout time. I can't wait to stay here again.

Yelp
Found this place online and the price was competitive and the reviews were spectacular so we decided it would be a nice place to stay. Staff is professional and helpful. The room was clean, classy and in very good repair. The entire place is so old and interesting around every corner. We spent a lot of time having a drink from the bar outside in the courtyard that has tables and very nice landscaping, beautiful nighttime lighting and nice shade trees. The brick patterns are so lovely. Within walking distance to restaurants and theres a parking garage two blocks away. What a charming little hotel full of charm and history. Romantic and just about perfect. I'll be staying here anytime I'm in Richmond!

Yelp
I was very much looking forward to the "step above the ordinary" promised us at this "boutique historic hotel" built in the 1840s. What I received instead was a room badly in need of updating. When guests compare a stay at the hotel to "camping" and have concern that the property might be "haunted" these are unlikely to be positive remarks. The website gushes that the Linden Row Inn has "a staff dedicated to grant your every wish." What we encountered upon arrival was a staff that was clearly unhappy working with one another. We were there for a wedding and the staff created a cloud of confusion surrounding gift bags left for guests of a wedding. Whether or not it was the wedding we were there to attend we will never know. However, this did not stop them from calling us down twice to retrieve them only to tell us they weren't for us. Even as we were checking out the bags reappeared. I can tell you one thing, those bags were meant for someone and they went undelivered, which is sad for both the givers and the recipients. When we requested help with the "Complimentary High Speed Internet Access" (this is NOT wireless!) a member of staff came and inserted the phone jack from the correct port (yes you must unplug your phone to get internet access at the Linden Row Inn) into the WRONG port making it impossible for me to use until I phoned an IT wizard pal out of state. No written directions for setting up access were provided by the hotel. I love the historic charm of the Linden Row Inn - the upstairs porch with its rocking chairs and the outside courtyard with fountain were both beautiful. Edgar Allan Poe reportedly played there as a child! If only the rooms and staff attitudes could be so charming.

Yelp
If character and authenticity are your jam, this is your hotel. Pure class and understated Southern style with Gothic reminders of Richmond's colorful past. There is nothing else quite like this place for a romantic weekend.

Yelp
This is a property that could have been so great, but falls short in many ways. It was old homes that were converted into a hotel with a not great conversion, but the real issue is the management of the hotel. There is no bellman or valet, so you are on your own with luggage and parking. The restaurant is closed 3 days per week. My room was a parlor suite which was large, but the air conditioning didn't work and none of the windows could be opened. It was 74 degrees with a sign on the thermostat saying it could not be lowered below 70 or it would freeze. I would have loved 70 degrees! There is no closet, but rather an armoire with an ironing board propped up against it. Bathroom was small and pretty narrow with the backside of a fireplace and mantel in it. I would not stay in this property again.

Yelp
Love this charming historic inn. Great location in Downtown Richmond. Great staff. Shuttle service within two miles. Rocking chairs on the verandas. Antique filled rooms.

Yelp
Cute little hotel that was well worth a 2 night stay. It's actually a row of townhouses and apartments turned into a hotel, which is different but not in a bad way. The service was excellent, the location well placed, and the rooms were all extra spacious. They even had free continental breakfast. Being on the 4th floor, all that the balcony walkway was missing was some mint julips for people to enjoy as they sat back on the rocking chairs. Much like an older apartment the only thing I didn't like were some of the small details. Things like the bolt lock that you had to jiggle to close, or the refrigerator which was a tad difficult to open over the rug. If such little things bother you, then this place is probably not a good fit. But the pluses far exceeded the minuses.

Yelp
"Can you remind me the building you live in "I'm on my way" ------------------------------------------ In A Sentence™ Historic; and, it's a place to sleep. (There isn't much more to it.) Quick Review™ + Location, location, location! + Edgar Allan-motherfucking-Poe! - No private parking lot. Employee of Excellence™ N/A ------------------------------------------ Check-in: 3:00 P.M. Eastern Check-out: 11:00 A.M. Eastern Parking: Valet only and expensive; although, plenty of free street parking all around. ------------------------------------------ Historic Linden Row Inn is a couple of blocks from the Richmond Arena. It's a must stop during everyone's Edgar Allan Poe tour of the region! Beds are average-to-below-average. Final Thought™ It's alright, yet the Poe connection bumps it up a star. ----------------------------------------- Good for tourists. Good for kids. Not good for dogs. Rating: Four-stars, "Yay! I'm a fan."

Yelp
Charming hotel, made all the more by learning the history before or during one's stay. We stayed in a town-home within the terrace and loved the whole experience. Room itself was a bit dated, but I think that's part of the aesthetic here. (It honestly would've felt out of place to have modern amenities and high-tech appliances en room). Special shoutout to the cafe located within the hotel. I enjoyed their quirky farm-to-table vibes. It was especially nice not to have to leave for food/drinks and having them freshly prepared in the mornings. Would definitively stay here again and plan on returning this Summer!

Yelp
The Linden Row Inn is a piece of Richmond's history. The Lobby is beautifully decorated like a comfortable living room, the guest rooms have been updated with a nice old world charm, and the restaurant on site is a delicious offering all day and a wonderful option for a late night cap. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I love the charm of this hotel. The Lindon Row Inn is in an excellent location within walking distance to great restaurants (Wong Gonzalez, Secret Sandwich Society and Urban Hang Suite). The on-site restaurant (Parterre) was a great option for morning coffee/snacks and also appetizers and a glass of wine or beer after a long day of meetings. The Brussel sprouts & chickpeas were delicious! The shuttle was convenient to get to & from meetings and travels within 2 miles of the hotel. All staff were friendly and welcoming. It was nice to return to the hotel and see a friendly face saying "welcome back". Special shoutout to Jermaine! He was kind, knowledgeable and assisted us with our luggage, meeting supplies and driving the shuttle.

Yelp
I stayed at Linden Row Inn when I was visiting Richmond for work. It was well-located for where I needed to be. I was surprised when I arrived and there was no self-park option. Valet is provided for an additional fee, but it was not exorbitant and proved to be the best solution. Street spots around the area are at meters, and I didn't want to take a chance. The room itself was gigantic, and very comfortable. There was a note on the air con not to lower it past a certain temperature or it would freeze up, which i found amusing. The room was plenty cool in May, but I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like in July. Staff was friendly, and the small coffee shop on the first floor was perfect for breakfast.

Yelp
We have stayed at Linden Row Inn a couple of times. This year, we bought the Be My Valentine package which included the night's stay, a lovely dinner served in the room and breakfast delivered in the morning. Everything was perfect. The room was warm and cozy on a very cold night. The staff were gracious and professional. Our food arrived exactly as ordered, on time, and the table placed in our room was appointed with a vase of sweetheart roses, pink cloth napkins and tea lights. It was a fantastic, quick getaway in the midst of COVID-19. Everyone wore masks and the hotel took precautions in other areas. The local art displayed in the lobby areas was a great celebration of Black History Month. Thank you to the Linden House team! Brennan and Denyse OConnor Chesapeake, VA

Yelp
Linden Row Inn has some very comfortable and charming rooms and suites. Very comfortable bedding . Great service at the front desk with excellent recommendations. Make sure you call the hotel directly to insure you receive one of the top rooms or suites. Historic location near downtown. A few great restaurants within walking distance.

Yelp
The Linden Row Inn is a historic inn in Richmond. We booked through an app, that searches for available same day hotel rooms. We couldn't view many details about the room, it's location in the hotel, smoking preference, etc.  The inn has no parking beyond valet parking, but we didn't have an issue finding nearby street parking on the weekend. The outside of the inn is rather unattractive near the main entrance so I was taken back when I stepped into the lobby. It's pretty nice and contemporary looking.  We checked in pretty easily without issues. The inn still utilizes actual keys rather than an electronic key fob. We had to walk through a courtyard to enter the separate building where our room was. The courtyard was nice, with a small fountain and several seating arrangements to enjoy an evening. As I understand it, the Inn has a main building and a few outlier buildings with rooms. Entering the building, you're greeted with an old smell. It didn't smell dirty, but had the odor of an old stale building.  Our room was upstairs in the three room building. It was a standard hotel room with full/queen size bed, tv, desk, and other hotel basics. It was nothing special, but the old building odor was present in the room which made it feel unclean even though it wasn't. The odor of the room also contained a faint hint of a smoke smell as well. The air conditioner unit and thermostat were old. The unit made noise everytime it kicked on and and was rather loud while running. There was a sign taped to the thermostat that said not to lower the temperature below 70degrees F because the unit will freeze and not work. For a hot summer day/night in VA, that temperature was not enough to keep this upstairs room cool. We ended up sweating in the bed trying to sleep before I was awoken by the smell of weed smoke, the adjacent rooms TV sound penetrating the walls, and the constant sound of the AC unit kicking on and off to maintain 70 degrees. The weed smoke seemed to be pouring out from the bathroom area like a vent or something was sucking it in from ether outside or the adjacent room. The smell, heat, and sounds made this hotel experience so unpleasant we just checked out at 230am in the morning. Overall it's a quaint hotel that looks pretty cool once you get in. The room was severely lacking though and you would be better off seeking your nearest chain hotel. The hotel staff were very accommodating and nice though.

Yelp
I stayed at the Linden Row twice. The first time was great - quiet, large, comfortable room in the main building. The second time I was in a back building where the HVAC pounded, creaked, whistled, and kept me awake all night. The maintenance guy agreed about the noise but couldn't do anything and the front desk wouldn't move me to a different room. The manager "wasn't available" when I checked out, never returned calls or emails. I booked again (Jan 2022) but asked for assurance that I was in the main building. A week later, no response. Not that I expected anything different. I canceled the reservation and will NOT stay there again. Pathetic customer service is not acceptable.

Yelp
A very charming historical hotel. I loved the antique decor in my room AND the fact that I had all the modern conveniences, like a great AC to beat the Richmond summer heat, and fast wifi. The corridors are charming, as well, and I sat in the rocking chair outside my room for some time enjoying the evening. Very friendly staff, as well - particularly the night desk staff!

Yelp
Stayed here during a recent meeting and really enjoyed the vibe. The rooms were large and filled with old-timey furniture. Far from fancy it was comfortable and clean. And they used actual keys. Whoa. The only downside was that smells carry. One night it was fumes from a room or rooms that had just been varnished or painted, and the other night someone was enjoying a little weed. Neither were very pleasant to be smell wafting through the halls. Staff was really friendly, the cafe in the lobby was excellent, and the location was good.

Yelp
Pros: I enjoyed staying in a historic building dated around 1870'es, it was beautiful to be a part of that antique place. Both drivers and front desk were nice and out bed was very comfortable. Buts... If you have a severe dust allergy like l do, stay away from this place!!! Okay, So we stayed in room 304 and it was all the way at the end of the hallway. After checking in and entering the room, my first reaction was to open a window since I could feel that the room had a heavy smell. All their windows are sealed-shut and you cannot open a window in your room (and they apparently don't have any room where you can). I wanted to put the AC on but the fan had layers of black dust on it. I called the reception to tell them l have a dust allergy. The guy answers me, sorry we don't have any spare rooms. Anyway we ended up staying there for couple of nights and actually the bed was really comfy, although there was a party downstairs and the noise was incredible. We didn't mind it much but I had to use both nasal sprays and allergy pills in order to stay in that room. 1) they have to find a way to aerate the 100+ years old rooms, it isn't fun to walk into a stinky room even if it's cleaned 2) they have to clean up the AC filter (it's covered with dust!) 3) also, their breakfast sucks. Seriously.
