Schokoladenmuseum Köln

I had a great time visiting this chocolate museum. The experience was very informative and well organize, they really go into detail about chocolate, from its origins and historical background to the full production process of how it’s made today. One of the highlights was the tasting you can sample as much chocolate as you like, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. The entrance fee is €18, and it’s definitely worth it for what you get. They also have a convenient cloakroom where you can store your jackets for €1.50, which was very helpful. Overall, a fun, educational, and delicious experience. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area 🍫

I loved the experience. The staff from fountain chocolate was amazing and nice. The entrance staff who scans the tickets was not very polite or welcoming but the staffs inside wearing white baker uniforms are exceptionally friendly. Since this experience my chocolate selection has leveled up, we but lindt in groceries now weekly 🤭

We loved the Shokoladenmuseum! The museum is quite large and very informative, making it easy to spend a good amount of time exploring without feeling rushed. We learned a lot about where cocoa beans grow, the different regions where cacao is cultivated, and the entire process of how chocolate is made, from the bean to the final product. The exhibits are well explained and engaging. One of the highlights was visiting the tasting stations, where you can try different types of chocolate along the way. I would say it is a must whenever you are in Köln!

Our kids absolutely loved this place. We did the chocolate tasting, it was brief but fun and informative - a nice way to see how chocolate is transformed into the finished product. The museum is a nice visit as well, good amount of information about the ancient and modern history of chocolate and about some of the industrial and social considerations of today. Plus, you can taste lots of chocolate! Would definitely recommend especially with kids.

The ticket costs €18, and buying a couple of chocolate from Lindt can cost €5 or more. The Lindt Chocolate Museum was a great experience. You get to learn how the company is founded and see the entire chocolate making process in action. They also give out small chocolate samples throughout the tour, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Location is convenient along the river so if one is coming from a river cruise docking, can walk over in minutes. There are a lot of people, so would recommend booking tickets ahead of time. We decided to go late and managed to get 2 of the last 3 tickets within the 2 hrs before closing. Do note that there are discount tickets closer to end of day for a reason. The stations close half an hour before the entire museum close (6pm close then 5:30pm stations are cleared). With the amount of people, it is hard to go through everything before stations stop if it’s close to closing time. We went on a bad day: close to closing time, weekend, and a day where shops in the town are closed for All Saints’ Day, so everyone went to the museum. The layout of the museum does not allow for multiple ways to get to different floors/rooms. There is only 1 elevator for guests to use. So it will be a long wait going between floors and stations to get any free chocolate (we got none… too long of lines and stations were closing). But overall, still a good place to visit. Would just suggest to not go late in the day but more during daytime in a non-weekend, that should make the experience more enjoyable.

I liked our first time at a chocolate factory and Cologne city experience made it a whole. We visited there around Christmas so we had this opportunity to enjoy the Christmas market close to the factory as well. The factory on its own is amazing. The most interesting thing for me was that this museum was partially interactive which shows you how much of effort and creativity lied behind it. Sometimes a sticker lets you know that you can watch something through the exhibited window. Sometimes you can do a small thing and get free chocolate. You’ll have to be ready to snack on the chocolates they offer you. If you want a customized chocolate you need 45 minutes to wait for it to get ready. There’s a cafe/bar on ground floor with Rhine view which was my most favorite part.

The experience was unforgettable. The best part was getting to try chocolate from their chocolate fountain. They have two cafés where you can enjoy desserts and drinks made with their own chocolate, as well as a chocolate shop if you want to buy gifts for yourself, family, or friends. They also show you how their chocolate is made and offer a workshop where you can design and make your own chocolate bar.
