Visited during Christmas times and it was surrounded with beautiful lights. I would suggest to the Town Hall to add a sign with the story behind it i think it’s very interesting to tourists.

If you like statues of mythical creatures, especially those carved in 1600, then you will not be disappointed. The square in front of the town hall is attractive and pleasant.

Lovely small town in Austria with nice people and architecture. We stayed for a night while traveling Austria and were surprised with quality of experience we had here. Small but very well maintained, with all beauty of old buildings and churches. Lovely place for a walk, bite and sip. Would be definitely coming back for more 🙏🏻

Yelp
The Lindwurmbrunnen on Neuer Platz in Klagenfurt from the 16th century is the landmark of the city and represents the emblem of the city represents a dragon.... is what I was told. Lindwurmbrunnen means Dragon Fountain. The legend said a dragon terrorized the city before being slain by knights.... To commemorate this event, they created the statute? My German is not good enough to understand fully what the locals were saying when I visited here. I still don't understand why it is used as the emblem of the city. I think they were so brave to slain the dragon? Then shouldn't the knight be the emblem? If you ask locals where to go for sightseeing, this is the number one spot they all recommend. My lack of knowledge didn't help me fully appreciate the significance of this dragon nonetheless, I understood the Klagenfurter were brave to fight against the dragon.
