The incredible Linh Phước Temple in Dalat is also known as the “junkyard temple” as it was built using millions of fragments of glass, pottery, and beer bottles.
The monks collected the materials from homes, businesses and factories that produce glass bottles and ceramics.
After, the monks had to scrub, cut and grind them into pieces that could be used to create the mosaics, all done by hand.
It was built in 1949 and completed in one year. In 1990, the pagoda was restored during the process, a few new structures were added. This project included the contribution of Buddhists from all over the world.
The temple is considered the most important spiritual place in Dalat. It has the tallest bell tower in all of Vietnam.
