Is This Floating Eco-Pod the Future of Overwater Bungalows?

"The SeaPod is a futuristic overwater bungalow that is eco-friendly and operates almost entirely on solar power. It floats on the water’s surface, minimizing damage to the ocean floor. The design includes a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom. It acts as an artificial reef, attracting marine life, and has various high-tech features like Starlink internet and touchscreen controls. Guests can enjoy local fruits and seafood, scuba diving, and other eco-restorative activities organized by Ocean Builders."

Location and transport accessibility: There is an expression "the back of the world" - very suitable for describing this place 60 kilometers from civilization. Hotels: There are no decent hotels near the marina, within walking distance. Available shops: On the ground floor under the restaurant there is a store for spare parts for yachts. Expensive. There is also a small container with vegetables and a gas station for boats, mainly with water, beer and strong drinks. Expensive. Ten minutes walk along the road to the right leads to a small Chinese supermarket in Puerto Lindo with a poor selection. Restaurants: On the second floor is a standard pretentious expensive restaurant. There are millions of them. In the backyard - near the spare gate there is a relatively inexpensive restaurant. But you won't find anything fancy there, but there is soup! You can also buy inexpensive bread, a SIM card and payment cards for your phone. Next to the entrance to the yacht marina, in the car park, there is a very inexpensive small restaurant "Karla Fruit". You can have a cheap, tasty, but no-frills breakfast and lunch. They also make good fruit cocktails there. Drinking water: Only in bottles - the one that flows from the tap is taken from the river with minimal filtration. The region is volcanic, the water contains salts of heavy metals. Yacht parking: It's good next to the pier. Mooring is also fine. The bay is quiet, there are practically no waves and strong winds. But there is a problem - after every heavy rain, the electricity goes out for a while. There is also insufficient current - instead of 110 volts, about 60 volts. Due to this, electrical appliances on boats break. Boat repair in the marina: There are almost no professionals, except for the "Welding Company", a carpenter and people who make hard top for boats. Recently, commercial vessels have been constantly being repaired on the territory of the marina with the involvement of third-party specialists. This causes constant noise, smoke and dirt. Toilet / shower: For three years, there has never been hot water in the men's shower for regular customers, although there is an option to connect - I watched someone from the administration take a hot shower. There is always hot water in the women's shower. Toilet cleaning - three out of five. Shower cleaning - two out of five. In the evening, when the workers who repair commercial vessels leave and before the morning cleaning, the toilets and showers are terribly dirty, which the workers bring in on their work clothes and shoes. Security: Under the previous security boss, security was perfect. With the current security boss, it's as if there are no guards. During the day, there is a semblance of security, but at night, the gates to the marina are open, and there are no guards at all. The guards even help the thieves - they specifically turn off the electricity so that the thieves are not visible on the surveillance cameras. The restaurant on the second floor was robbed six times. And each time, the surveillance cameras were turned off by the guards. Several inflatable boats were stolen from the pier. Also with the security cameras turned off. Well, the last nail in the coffin, sorry, of course, the cherry on the cake: Some of the office workers do their own business to the detriment of the reputation of the marina. Yes, that's you, flat-faced madam with a dash of Japanese blood. I gave three days' notice that I would need a tugboat to go out to sea on Sunday evening. I was sure that everything would be fine. As it was a free service for Marina. But when the deadline came, she told me that there was no tugboat, but there was a private boat for $300. As a result, a lot of time, nerves and money were wasted. I didn't even have time to say goodbye to people and buy the vegetables necessary for the trip. Sorry, Charlie. That's all.

Small marina which needs uplifting & more services for sailors... it's location is very far away from maritime procedures in Colon (1 to 2h drive) and food provisionning..so take this into account. Need to hire taxi each time ..or deal with a crowdy bus! Otherwise well protected & good friendly & delicious restaurant overviewing the bay

Everything is perfecr here at Black Pearl. The restaurant is inside the Marina, first floor of the main building, opened on the beautiful bay of Linton Bay. The view is stunning. The chef is top class. She creates new amazing dishes. I come almost every evening and I am delighted by the wonderful food. Absolutely top class and affordable. Just an amazing place that everyone should come to.

Good place to live on your boat or simply stop few days. The pontoons are nice and we'll mantained. There are also some buoys where leave the boat, or a lot of space where to drop the anchor. There's a shipyard and the petrol station. 2 little restaurant and no nautical shop. Best place to do a couple of days out around Isla Grande for example or go and visit the beautiful Sanblass.

Decent marina. We didn't stay on a boat. We stayed on the EcoPod from Ocean Builders so we didn't experience the whole boat thing. We walked the docs and they look solid. Only complaint would be the restaurant is a little lacking. Menu is small and not a lot of healthy options and service was inefficient and slow. Management should train staff a little more on how to provide faster service. Service was friendly though...just slow and seemed chaotic.
