Lionel Smit Studio

Recently went to visit the artist again. Such a peaceful vibe there, quiet, contained, very inspiring. Busy in his studio, painting for his next exhibition. His work is well displayed in the gallery, the garden is now well established, green, looking lovely, his sculptures at home in the landscape.

I am speechless! Magnificent art. It’s mind blowing to see the amount of love, care and detail that’s put into the sculptures and paintings. Definitely a must see!!

Stunning Display !!

Very inspiring and tranquil space to be in. While you walk through the studio you're able to view some of his works up close. Being able to take it all in at your own pace you may end up purchasing a piece or never want to leave. His work is quite captivating and provoking to that point where I found myself deep in thought and reflection. There's a couch to sit on and a few of his books to read through while ambient music plays in the background which took me even deeper into his work process and the individual pieces. Taking one on a somewhat personal level with the artist and oneself. He is at the studio daily and I had the opportunity to capture a photograph of him at work painting(I posted the picture here. You'll have to look carefully (hope that's ok)). He popped out to attend to a few things in the studio and I could've asked him directly(I should've), but the staff were friendly enough and being very knowledgeable of the artist, his work and processes, were willing and able to answer any questions I had to ask. Thank you for the experience and time you've given me Linol Smit Studio.

Beautiful for a lunch date with the coffee shops nearby. Lionel Smit has artwork displayed from coast to coast. It's a true treat to be able to see his work up close.

Just go. It is an amazing space and Lionel is a brilliant host and one of South Africas most critcally acclaimed artists. There is a gallery space and also a view to his studio and WIP. One of the best investments one can make.

Incredible space and wonderful Art in sculpture and painted form. Helpful staff make this an incredible gallery that one simply has to visit to understand.
