Lions Dryandra Woodland Village

We had a wonderful weekend in late February and were thoroughly impressed. The location is stunning, nestled within the Dryandra Woodland National Park. Multiple walking trails start on your doorstep. The village has a fantastic playground for the kids and a paddock full of kangaroos. While the cottages are simple, they’re cosy and were perfectly suited for our stay. The lack of internet really encouraged us to connect with nature. The pet possum at Possum Cottage was a huge hit with the children. Our hosts, Julie and Les, were incredibly friendly and helpful. Don’t forget to book in advance for the Barna Mia experience!

One of my favourite places to not only visit but to stay. Basic accommodation but it has everything you need for what it provides and where it is located. Nature is waiting for you whether it be flora and fauna and the Lions Dryandra village is a perfect place to stay in the heart of the Woodlands. Have stay numerous times and will again.

We stayed in the Magpie Cottage for 2. It is authentic so don't expect a 5 star ⭐ hôtel but it is in the middle of the bush and surrounded by flora and fauna so this is definitely worth more than a luxury hotel. We loved our stay and had the privilege of doing the Barna Mia Night Tour and saw so many animals it was amazing. We also saw a Number and some Echidna on one of the hikes we did from the cottage. Definitely worth a visit ❤️

This is such an amazing place. We seen all the animals we went there to see. Night walks are a must. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this place and the surrounding areas to visit. Cottages are clean and have everything we needed. Definitely going back and now one of our favourite spots.

Dryandra Woodland is a fantastic place to visit for wildlife and wildflowers, especially in spring. The accommodation in the old forestry cottages in the village is basic but clean and very affordable. You need to bring bedding but a limited quantity is available for hire.

My partner and I absolutely adored the Lions Dryandra Woodland Village. As animal and nature people this accommodation was right up our alley with nature literally at our doorstep in a cute and cosy cabin. The caretakers were very nice and keen as to share their tips on finding elusive animals which most ended up working out for us!

Excellent accommodation with good dining facilities for a large group or small family. Reasonable charges. Good play facilities for children between ages of 6 and 14. Very limited internet which could be a boon or disadvantage depending on viewpoint.

They introduced us to kangaroo joeys, colorful wild birds, and even a wild snake patiently waiting for its prey. They guided us on a walking tour around the area, helping us search for echidnas while sharing fascinating information about the local flora and fauna. We even saw a kangaroo skeleton—such a cool experience! 《Stay in a Cozy Cabin and Immerse Yourself in Nature》 Bring your own bedsheets, pillows, blankets, towels, bath towels, and toiletries, and stay in a cabin for 2-3 nights. At night, listen to the soothing sounds of crickets and birds, and in the morning, watch kangaroos hopping across the grasslands—a truly peaceful and relaxing experience. You can also explore the outdoors in search of echidnas and numbats, observe over 105 species of birds, or take on nearby hiking trails for an adventure-filled day. 《Well-Equipped for a Comfortable Stay》 The large cabins accommodate 4-10 people, and you can park your car right outside. Everything you need is provided: ✔ Clean bathrooms and toilets (with toilet paper, plenty of hooks, and rails) ✔ An additional outdoor toilet, so you won’t have to worry about availability while showering ✔ A fully equipped private kitchen, including a four-burner stove, fridge, microwave, hot water kettle, toaster, pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils, sponges, dishwashing liquid, and dish towels ✔ An outdoor gas BBQ grill, perfect for enjoying a barbecue under the open sky! 《Cozy Living Space and Fireplace Gatherings》 The living room has three large sofas, and you can buy firewood from the office to light the fireplace at night. Gather around with family and friends, sip on a warm drink, and enjoy a cozy and relaxing evening—it’s pure bliss! 《Disconnect and Enjoy the Peace》 Internet reception inside the cabins is unstable, making this the perfect place to unplug and take a break from the digital world, fully immersing yourself in nature. 《Exciting Night Adventure with Wildlife》 At night, don’t miss the Barna Mia nocturnal tour, where you’ll use a red-light flashlight to search for native wildlife in the darkness—an exciting and unique experience! 《Family-Friendly with Plenty of Space》 If you have kids, there are playground facilities for them to enjoy! The cabins are also spaced apart, ensuring privacy and minimal disturbance from other guests. 《Respect Nature and Keep It Clean》 Before leaving, please tidy up the space, restore everything to its original condition, and dispose of your trash in the outdoor bins. If you have children, this is also a great opportunity to teach them about responsibility! 《Can’t Wait to Return!》 I absolutely fell in love with this place! Every morning at around 5 AM, I would wake up, sit on the back porch, sip a cup of hot tea, and watch the sunrise—such a peaceful and enjoyable moment. Although I didn’t get to see echidnas or numbats this time, that just gives me another reason to come back!
