Lip Lab Soho

This was a great experience. Both Kat and Weslynn (sp?) were attentive and knowledgeable and made the whole experience awesome. I love that you can customize the tubes with your name, quotes, etc. and choose from a few different fonts and have it engraved on the side or top of the tubes. For the lipstick and lip balm, you can also add an essential oil which was very nice. Lipsticks will last 3 years, balms will last 2 years and blushes will last a year. All ingredients are clean and vegan. I know some other reviewers mentioned that the colors were too sheer or didn’t have enough pigmentation. I customized a matte red for my lipstick and the color was true to what was formulated. Kat made a slight error with the color formulation (wrote it down incorrectly) but it got fixed and all was fine. With the lip balm, there was sufficient pigmentation for my preference and the formula is very moisturizing. I added rose scent to my lipstick which made it even nicer. And Kat added lots of mint oil to my lip balm which gave it a nice scent. The blush is really nice and creamy and is long lasting. A little goes a long ways. I’m so glad I opted to get the blush done, too. There are fewer customization options for the packaging but that wasn’t a big deal. I mostly just wanted the customized engraving. There were lots of parties and celebrations at the lab so, be prepared for crowds on weekends. It’s a fun thing to do with a group of friends. Price wise, expect high prices as you might with any high end cosmetic line. A fully customized lipstick will cost $65 and you get a discount when you purchase a bundle like I did. Time wise, I thought it would only take 1 hour but it was very busy and there was that slight snafu with the color formulation so it took 2 hours. So be prepared for it to take a little longer if it’s crowded or getting your color formulation correct takes a lot of tries. Also, they keep your color formulations on file so, you can always reorder your custom color online. And you can select new packaging or get the same tube with the same engraving bc they keep all your info on file. For those who might not know, the company was a spin off from Bite Beauty, a Canadian cosmetics company that closed in 2022. Lip Lab has multiple locations and managed to survive the closing of Bite Beauty. If you don’t want to customize, they also offer a line of pre-made lipsticks, balms, blushes, eyeliners, lip scrubs and glosses.

My Mom and I came to LipLab to celebrate her birthday with a fun activity and the service here at the SoHo location didn't disappoint! We were helped by Tay and Kristina, who were fun to work with and made our lipstick and lip gloss colors exactly how we wanted them. The process was interesting and fun, and my Mom and I have both enjoyed wearing our custom lip products since making them. I was pleasantly surprised at how quality the formulas feel and look—Lip Lab is a fun experience, but also produces great cosmetics products, too! Will definitely be bringing my friends back here next time I need a fun activity to do in SoHo. The only thing that could have improved my experience was having a choice in the color for the lip gloss lid. I would have loved to have customized it was much as the lipstick cases can be!

Had a great time at Lip Lab SoHo! My cousin, sister, and I had reservations, but as we went early on a Friday afternoon, it was not busy. It was fun to randomly pick colors and then see what final colors they would create. The ladies there were amazing and walked us through the whole process. They were dedicated to seeing us satisfied. My sample balm and the final balm kept coming out different shades, despite the measurements being done properly. The associate understood my frustration and called over another associate to help troubleshoot. Eventually everything was figured out, and I left with a light purple balm that looked great on me! Highly recommend this location if you’re in the area!

I had such a wonderful time with the girlies — it was the perfect mix of fun, creativity, and relaxation right here in the city. The experience let us explore making a variety of products, from silky lip glosses and vibrant lipsticks to a soft, blendable cheek blush. Ray, our specialist, was absolutely amazing — warm, friendly, and so knowledgeable. She instantly knew which tints and color ranges would complement my complexion, and her patience and guidance made the whole process feel effortless. I especially love that I walked away with a custom, one-of-a-kind lip color that you simply can’t find in any store — it feels so personal and special.

In retrospect, it might have been more satisfying to purchase a high-end lipstick from a brand renowned for its excellence, at a fraction of the price. I found the pigmentation of my custom creation to be lighter than I had anticipated, which could appeal to those who enjoy a more subtle lip color. Ultimately, the value of this experience can be quite subjective. While some may appreciate the unique and personalized nature of their custom lipstick, others might prefer the reliability and richness of established brands. If you’re on the lookout for an enjoyable and memorable activity with friends in the trendy SoHo neighborhood, Lip Lab could be just the right spot for a special girls' day out.

My friends and I went to Lip Lab for my birthday to make custom lip products, and it was such a fun first-time experience thanks to Nikki! She made everything so easy and enjoyable—super sweet, showered us with compliments, and perfectly matched our vibes the whole time. I made a lip gloss and a lipstick, and she helped me find the perfect shades. She was so patient and really knew what she was doing, same with my friends. Huge shoutout to Mwaka too, who helped us at the end—both Nikki and Mwaka were so kind and made the experience unforgettable. I’ve been using my lipstick and lip gloss every day since, and I absolutely love them! The whole experience was filled with laughs and was definitely worth remembering. 100% recommend!

I had a great time at a group event at Soho Lip Lab. TAHLIS!!!!! She's the best, very patient, and pretty much adjusted lip colors to perfection. Honestly, everyone there was great, I feel like they all work together really well. It's a great experience.

We recently enjoyed a wonderful girls' outing, and our experience was truly delightful. Our expert was both humorous and gracious. She was incredibly knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with. I would certainly recommend her services.

My friend decided to bring me to lip lab in nyc in The village. Encouraged to make an appointment because It was packed. It was a fun experience creating our own colors, name of our own lipstick and design. The Staff was really nice And patient. It was a $100 per person so a little pricey but you get a lipgloss and lipstick with it. You can actually order in the future as well because they saved your information. I reccomend to do this with your girls or a mommy and me day. I feel it could have more exciting if there was good music playing and or snacks or drinks offered.

Sucha a fun and cute experience with ya girls. We were a party of 7 but we didn't feel rushed during our time picking our perfect shade. The engraving is a nice touch to the lipstick you make. Kinda wish there were more selections for the font engravings and scents.

Our first time here for my mom's bachelor weekend celebration. We didn't really know what to expect, but it was very fun, definitely on the more expensive side. Shanice and Aaliyah were literally the best !!!

Loved, loved, loved our experience here! Literally came here to replace my discontinued favorite Bite lipstick (their former subsidiary). I thought I could walk in and just find a suitable color that was a close match and walk out. As it turns out, Lip Lab doesn't really make premade/mixed colors. I always knew that you could book parties and custom make lippies, but I didn't know that pretty much everything that comes out of their store is custom made. We were a group of four and as walk-ins, they squeezed us in between their scheduled bookings. The whole process was so fun and interesting from choosing colors to watching them mix and play with colors to get close to my discontinued lipstick. You also can choose the scent/flavor for your product (mango and pomegranate are top contenders), your casing, and the font you want engraved. And you get to name it whatever you want. The initial custom lipstick is $65, but to reorder in the future is $45. You can also bundle if you want to add other items like gloss, or lip therapy etc. Paige was so knowledgeable of all their products and knew how to make the best recommendations. She 99% knocked it out of the park on my discontinued color in her first try! I was happy with it but she said she needed to pull one color back, and on her second pass, it was identical to my color. A true pro! On top of this, as I mentioned previously, I only came to replace one lipstick, but with Paige's recommendations, I left with a custom lip gloss as well as a lip liner too. Vv happy with my purchases! She and Weslin (not 100% sure of her name as she was helping the other ladies in our group) another associate, were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We walked out of there really feeling we got an experience more than just a simple transaction. Highly recommend!!

This was so fun!! Took our tween and teens for a Sunday day of fun. The first step was that you tell the "chemist" what color you want and if you want a gloss, balm or lipstick. You name your custom product and they label it for you. It's very cool! They mix your color to your liking. You can add a scent or sparkle to your product too! I would advise it's pricey! But worth it! It was super fun to do this with my teen!

Expensive but awesome experience and a super fun thing to do with a couple of 13 year old girls. Our lipstick magician, Marelin, was awesome. She created beautiful colors for us and was patient, kind and knowledgeable. It was fun to watch the whole process of how a lipstick comes to life.

A fun experience with your girl friends! Is a bit overpriced as others here have mentioned? Yes you can definitely get lipstick for cheaper but you pay for the experience and for the precision of the color you want. The entire process is fun and the "chemists" really want you to leave with a color you are happy with and they work with you to make it work. Often they nail it on the first try!

Came for my birthday last night and it was the most fun!! Will be back for sure. And love that they keep the info in the computer in case you want to reorder

Do NOT plan a special occasion here!!!! I had a reservation for five people for a friend's birthday. I made the appointment probably a month in advance. About an hour before our scheduled time, they called to say they were cancelling because they were overbooked and understaffed.

My first time & the experience was amazing. Aaliyah was our color expert was simply wonderful. She was friendly, outgoing and made great suggestions. She truly made it a great experience. The store manager Paige was very nice and made sure everything ran down smoothly. Great place to go with your girlfriends and enjoy some fun! Will definitely come again

Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I was under the impression it would be hands on, instead we watched the lipsticks get made. It was a cute unique experience, cute for a girls night out. I especially liked that we were able to choose a scent and engrave the cover with a name of our choice.

I was a bit hesitant about my reservation because of the most recent reviews. I'm glad to say that I experienced the opposite and had a great time. They have only been at this Wooster St location over a month. Contrary to other reviews, this location does have a restroom for guests to use. We were greeted promptly and had a very short wait time before we were seated. Lazara (apologies if I misspelled her name) was fantastic! She was very informative and patient while we chose the best mix for our lipstick and lip balm. I would definitely go back!

I stopped by with a friend today and had such a great experience! We arrived a bit early and had to wait to be called. Luna helped us and she was amazing! She was very knowledgeable, sweet, & patient. She explained the different finishes and everything we needed to know to create our own lipsticks. They provide micellar water to remove any lip products you may have entered with. They also prep your lips by providing a lip scrub and lip mask that feel really nice. My friend started and was having a hard time finding her perfect satin lip. Luna was super patient and mixed up a bunch of combinations for her. I tried out the sheer finish first, Luna nailed my color on the first try. I decided I preferred a gloss so she mixed that up for me. We ended up leaving with glosses we were both very happy with. With tip the 2 glosses ended up being $130. It is a bit pricey but it's so worth it! You're going to get a lip product you love & the experience itself is really nice. I would love to come back :)

They were very knowledgeable on the different ways to make the lipsticks. Knowledgeable on mixing shades to get the desired colors. The seats are high and I'm short, so beware. The laser machine was down which was a bummer. It's a bit tight in there but not uncomfortable. For some reason our reservation wasn't listed, but they still seated us with grace. Good time for my daughter, she liked the experience.

My friends and I had an appointment on Friday, April 22nd for the three of us. This has been an almost decade-long desire of mine to go to one of the Lip Lab locations, and Kaley and Grant made it everything I dreamed of. I came in with inspiration for two lipsticks. The first lipstick is $60 and each additional is $40. While this may seem like an extravagant purchase (to be fair, it is), you are paying for precision shade creation, the finish, the scent (if you wish), the pick of packaging, naming your lipstick, and having the color recipe to repurchase in the future. To walk away with your own creation is so incredibly satisfying. Kaley is an artist. She matched both the colors I wanted perfectly, and was patient and worked to create these with me. As they make each iteration, you get to try them on and give your feedback of what you want more or less of until your reach your ideal shade. Her and Grant--who helped mix our final lipsticks--were wonderful and I could not have ask for better people to work with. An additional benefit is getting Bite Beauty products at a discount. They offer a few different things that you can snag at a good price. I was able to get the lip scrub for like $7! The Lip Lab was clean, with the workers wearing masks and gloves. It is a small space which is why they work off of reservation only, but they are able to accommodate larger groups. Our group of three were in a space to the left of the entrance and did not feel crowded. We really enjoyed our experience!

My best friend took me here for my birthday last year and I recently took my sisters and mom for a girls day! It's such a fun activity in NYC and the lipstick/gloss is great quality! Love all the customization options available too :)

A good experience! I booked an appointment for my friend and me on a Saturday morning. If you plan on going during the weekend, you must make an appointment. However, during the week, they take walk-ins. The whole experience went by pretty quickly. They are pretty good at matching the color you describe to them. I thought it would be a little bit more interactive but once you describe the color to them, they give you a sheet to fill out about the name and design on the case and that is pretty much it. Overall, the custom lipstick is pretty cool, but the experience as a whole is just okay.

In the beginning of November my friend booked a private party at night and honestly it was the worst experience in my life hands down. As soon as we walk-in I notice everything was disorganized and clutter they had boxes everywhere it looked like they just opened that location. We had a party of six and they had three girls working but as soon as we sat down, the vibe was off one of the employees seemed irritated and didn't care that we were excited. They rushed the whole process and didn't give us any information about the design of the lipstick or anything and when we asked questions they would say we already told you that even though they only told two girls out of the six. I have no idea what was going on behind closed doors but the tension was high. So part of the lipstick deal you could choose between three designs colors but they didn't have one in stock so we only had two. The Lipstick is suppose to be personalize so you pick a name for the lipstick and you have "options" from different fonts and symbols but they didn't tell all the girls so I said ask "hey, you didn't tell me that we could put symbols or select a font of our choice" the employee quickly and rudely responded "well it's too late " and I said "OK that's fine " naturally I was upset because this lipstick isn't cheap. It was like they were making the choices for us, and just wanting us out of the building. After a couple minutes, she said OK I'll change it if you want me to at that moment i didn't realize that she was just trying to be vindictive so she took my lipstick back and didn't even ask me what font I wanted and she did put the symbol on the lipstick, and she chose the font that she wanted, and it turned out differently from the rest of girls. The font was ugly. Anyways, long story short it's a huge waste of money and time especially for people traveling out of town to celebrate a special occasion. There's nothing special about this location I promise. The lipstick is in the trash where it belongs.

Worst experience ever. Felt rush through the process. In addition, you already need to know what color palette/tone suits you. During engraving, they rushed in another group and gave my seat to them and grabbed my bag out of the way. It is not worth the amount you spend. Save your money and go to sephora to get a Dior, YSL, or Lancome lip stick or lip balm.

My daughter took myself and her bride's maids to New York. She scheduled an appointment a month out with the Lip Lab we were excited until we arrived. When we were greeted the associate's demeanor changed when we inquired about the tiers of creation options. The first associate spoke to us as if we were a burden (The artist made no eye contact, and pushed us to pick a color with no guidance. While others received a lip scrub and a detailed analysis to ensure the best color match) , and switched with another artist. We all saved up to purchase lipsticks for the wedding, and I flew in from Arkansas, so it was frustrating to not receive the full experience. I will not return to this location

Hello world, Liplab treated my group badly by treating them as if they didn't have any money, this just my opinion, but if you are paying for a service you should be treated like the Queens that you are when you visit an establishment that suppose to make you feel special. If you want your group to feel fantastic after spending your hard earned dollars don't do this establishment.

Honest Review Below: I was really excited to make my own lip balm with a friend! However, we should've known how terrible the service would be from the moment we stepped in. We weren't acknowledge at all and when my friend told them we had made an appointment, one of the workers just told us to sit and wait. While we didn't have to wait for long, the service was TERRIBLE. Because this was our first time, we had no idea how to even get started. The worker told us to choose either a lipstick, lip gloss, or lip balm. She quickly went over the prices and asked us what color we wanted. We felt rushed and confused the entire time. When we asked what colors they had, she didn't give us any leads and just told us to choose a color. We randomly decided on pink and she started making a color in front of us. She gave us a brochure which we looked through and that was where we read all the info with the color ranges. On the brochure, there was an option to choose a finish (matte, sheer, balm, etc.). While my friend and i both wanted to make a balm, i asked the worker if there were any differences between balm and sheer. She said there weren't any differences, so based on the brochure, i asked her if i could have it sheer. She agreed without telling me that making it sheer would turn it into a lipstick which was 65$ instead of a lip balm ($40) which i wanted. Not only that, the brochure that we looked at was old and didn't have any new information. This left us even more confused with the entire process. The entire process took less than 30 mins because nothing was properly explained to us and we felt rushed the entire time. Not only was i unhappy with the overall experience , when i tried on the lipstick at home, i realized that the color she showed us in store was entirely different from what i received. Will never go back nor recommend this "experience!"

I love lipsticks, being able to create my own was even better! This is a great place to have a girls day/night out right before grabbing some drinks or a bite to eat in Soho. I took my daughters so no drinks lol Anyway, make a reservation online to choose your location and time- we did the soho area since I planned on shopping in the area. Your Personal tech will ask you short questions to help you decide what type of shade and texture you like. Try it on and sample different mixes. If you don't like it, try another mix. The best part is they add essential oils to the mixture giving it a delicious scent- I chose the lemon scent. Once satisfied with your shade, you can name your own lipstick. I named mine, LeoLuv for my sign heyyy! Take a selfie with their ring light to show off your new lipie! I had a good time although I did expect it to be more hands on. The tech does most of the work.

I want to give 5 stars, and I have personally witnessed a 5 star experience. I think it really depends on the color expert that is helping you. The couple next to me were given wonderful explanations of how the process worked, what all the options and prices were, and were having great fun. I came in alone and my color expert introduced herself asked me what kind of color I wanted to make, and then immediately started mixing. It all happened very fast, and I was being asked questions I didn't know how to answer because I wasn't explained how the process worked. She absolutely nailed it on the first try with the color,which was wonderful, but I left feeling sad and rushed. It's an expensive experience ($65 for a lipstick and $25 more for a balm) to have felt rushed out and confused. If I were to do this again I'd come with a friend or two and ask for things to go a little more slowly with better explanation. I have a really great lipstick, but I was in and out in 20 minutes and I feel left out and like I missed out. Tl;dr : I left with a perfect lipstick but was rushed despite it not being busy, felt left out and sad. Come with a friend, not alone.

We went to Liplab Soho. Nikki was our lip lab creator and was amazing!! Nikki was so welcoming and patient and made the experience everything we hoped it would be!

Booked the private room for six as a birthday surprise for my BFF. You're able to make lipstick to your specifications i.e. color, finish, flavor and work on it until you're completely satisfied. The tech works with you no matter how many changes you make and you leave with your lipstick (feel free to make and pay for more than one), your formula so you can duplicate the color whenever you like, as well as a goodie bag of products. Start thinking of a creative name for your lipstick so the tech can laser it on to the top of the tube. Nice touch. This is a great activity if you're looking to do something different with your girls.

Disgusting. Was there yesterday and was helped by someone who was clearly sick. Should be unacceptable to come into work like that without at least wearing a mask.

Lip Lab by Bite is such a fun and unique concept for a girls night out! I came here for a private party, and loved every bit of the process. The location is perfect for small celebrations. They were able to close the space entirely for our party, which was awesome. First, we were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and a small snack. After this, the fun began with mixing colors to create our personalized lipsticks. There are tons of color combos you can choose from, in addition to fragrances and textures. Also, the ladies who work here are absolutely phenomenal! They were super patient and helpful throughout the entire process! Definitely give this place a go - so worth it!

I've heard about this establishment and I've always wanted to try out this experience. I finally got to go here for someone's birthday and it was quite the experience. I'll first say that it was innovative and fun. I truly enjoyed the process and definitely appreciated how patient the women I worked with was. However, the options they have for mixing different colors are extremely basic and don't allow for much variation in my opinion. I really wanted to make a true brown lipstick, one that I know exist in other spaces and it was almost impossible to make, even though it was considered an option. Additionally, this experience was extremely over priced. I paid $15 for the deposit then another $65 when it was all said and done and in my opinion it was not worth almost a $100 per person. This is definitely a one and done type of experience, but and interesting one nonetheless.

Bite Beauty provides such a very pleasant and unique experience by being able to customize your own lipstick color. I took my girlfriend to this location for her birthday. This location has great communication with customers via telephone or email, whether it may be questions about appointments, products, directions,services, ect, they are prompt with a response. I would highly recommend this store and their services to any lipstick fanatic such as my girlfriend. Our lipstick creator created 3 shades for each of us and we picked our favorite shade. We also got to name and even add a scent to our lipstick! It was a little on the pricy side but again it's all about the total experience and it was definitely worth it! I recommend this for any occasion with the girls!

I just recently Heard about this place from a coworker. I found out though that it has been here for eight years. After hearing the amazing experience my coworker had and seeing the ads on Instagram, I knew I wanted to check it out. Well I was not disappointed. I had Julia assisting me in finding the perfect red and perfect nude just for me. I had a great experience seeing the variety of colors that work for me and Julia understood exactly what I was looking for and was able to quickly come up with colors that I liked. I like that you can see the whole process of your very own custom made lipstick being made from the colors being mixed up,!to them being melted and frozen to then be placed in the lip case with whatever engraving you want on it. I also love that you can pick what kind of finish the lipstick will have and the fragrance. I highly recommend this for any woman who is looking to find a certain kind of lip color, but it's also a fun place to go with girlfriends, for a party or even just by yourself like I did For self-care. Another bonus is the Italian restaurant right next-door is amazing so that's what I did right after I made my lipsticks. Thanks for a great experience.

Was looking forward to this experience but appointment was cancelled last minute via text message. Very disappointing to say the least. Staff was not helpful and disinterested in making the situation better.

I'd been wanting to make a custom lipstick with Bite for over two years, but the last time I was in New York I didn't schedule an appointment and they couldn't accommodate a walk-in. (Understandable!) So when I visited again, I made sure to make an appointment. My sister and I went for the less-expensive "custom" option instead of the "bespoke" service (custom is a shade that already exists, which the workers there will help you figure out what is best for you, and you can add a scent of your choosing to your final lipstick bullet; bespoke is where the workers custom-mix a shade for you). The price difference is almost double, which is why we chose custom. My sister wanted a good nude lip for herself; I wanted a dark vamp color. She has a hard time finding a good nude because everything she picks ends up looking too white for her skin tone, and I have a few vampy colors that don't have staying power. So we went in with those very different/very specific ideas in mind and had our own lip technicians work with us individually to find our perfect shades. While the experience was awesome, there were a few weird snafus during our appointment that brought it down to 4 stars. There was some green stuff on my sister's seat that got all over her clothes. I still don't know what that was, but I would've hoped that a place this shiny and image-conscious would wipe down all their seats in between clients, especially when working with dye materials. Anyway. I loved the experience, but it was once-in-a-lifetime for myself, I think. It's so frivolous (and at $55 per lipstick) that I can't imagine doing it more than once.

I can't recommend Lip Lab enough!! I scheduled a group there as part of my sister's bachelorette celebration and it truly was one of the highlights of the weekend. From being patient with me during the scheduling process (going back and forth with dates and times to work with the rest of our weekend's festivities) to giving each of the nine women an excellent experience. For many of us, we fell in love with the first colors created for us. Others needed to try a lot of variations, and no one showed any impatience. They were super supportive of getting the shades just right and were all incredibly friendly. I'm so glad this was part of our weekend of fun! Plus, we all have custom lipsticks (that we had engraved with raunchy names) to remind us of our fun weekend!

Came here without an appointment on a Thursday afternoon with a friend who was interested in creating a custom shade identical to an old lipstick she loved but currently discontinued. Fortunately, there weren't too many people there when we went and we were able to be squeezed in. The technician helping us was amazing! Super friendly and matched the lipstick to the T. The my friend was able to add a mint scent to the lipstick and create a name for her custom shade. The lipstick was solid in minutes and works perfectly! She was also given a card next time if she wanted to reorder that same shade! We had such a great experience because they had a ring light set up for pictures and we were able to take some great ones! Definitely recommend making an appointment next time and coming with some girlfriends for a girls day!

I really took a chance and walked in this past Saturday morning, about a half hour after they opened. I asked if there was any way to put me in as a walk-in, and I really lucked out that Janet's appointment was late. She asked if I had a half hour to spare since she could take me right away! I had told her that I bookmarked this place for over a year now and really appreciated being taken so suddenly! Miracles do happen! Janet was really a very fun and bubbly consultant to have. Having been working for the Lip Lab for a little over a year, she really was a great addition to the team. She was incredibly passionate about her craft and didn't mind me asking questions about the ingredients or shelf life of my custom lipstick (valued at $55 for one shade). All ingredients are plant based and the shelf life of the lipstick is 2 1/2 years! Not bad! I expressed to Janet that I was looking for that perfect red color since my skin is so fair and my hair is now a red, mahogany color. She explained what lip textures I might like, and we went with matte. After blending and trying on four different shades, we had our winner! Janet was really honest about colors she did and didn't like on me, and strived to help me find exactly what I was looking for. The melting and creating the lipstick process was very interesting to watch, and Janet explained each step along the way. She was also curious about how I heard about Lip Lab and if I would try the experience again in the future. It was truly enjoyable, and I really got to feel special throughout the process. Plus every time I whip out my custom red, it smells like cherry vanilla! I swear it's like candy! I hope to come back another time to try something bright for summer or fall!

I did my appoint virtually with the fabulous Edianis. First you get to pick your formula, then you go into mixing the color. I brought my two favorite all time lipsticks and was trying to Find the perfect nude mauve. Edianis just knew what I wanted and mixed the perfect color after two tries. The second color I wanted a more red brown for fall that was more red than brick. Edianis just knew what I was looking for and mixed the perfect formula. Next I got to pick a scent. Then what I wanted to call it and they engrave it on the top. I got my shipment in one week after which kind of sucked because it in the middle of unexpected heatwave in the Bay Area so my lipstick came sweaty. You get cards to go back and make the formula when you are out. (Minus one star for sweaty lipsticks) I would definitely book online again but do during the cooler and cold months ladies. Also ask for Edianis she knows her stuff and worked in beauty industry before heading to the lip lab. Also super easy to talk too. (All stars for Edianis)

Going to the Lip Lab was definitely a fun, unique experience! I'm not very familiar with lipsticks and shades but our artist was very helpful finding the shades that I was comfortable with. She talked us through the different options offered and was patient when I was choosing my colors. Highly recommend this experience when visiting New York if you want to add something to your makeup routine!

We had a wonderful experience at Lip Lab in Soho! I took my daughter to celebrate her birthday and Kirsten made the experience so much fun! My daughter and I created two lipsticks each with Kirsten's help. She really Listened to what we were going for and chose 4 gorgeous shades. We had fun picking out the cases and naming our custom lipsticks. I would highly recommend Lip Lab for a special girls day out, or even to just help find the perfect shade for you. Kirsten is the best!

Have you ever gone shopping for a lipstick and wished that you could find something a little more pink-toned or something that worked better with your skin tone? I discovered a really fun experience that completely solves this problem! My bestie and I visited the Lip Lab by Bite Beauty located in SoHo, and we got the chance to create our perfect nude shades for our skin tones. We were matched to an artist who asked us what we wanted in terms of shades, flavors and finishes. I asked for a nude that complements my skin tone but with more of a peach tone. Out of the the finishes offered (matte, satin, luminous, and sheer), I chose a matte finish. Of all the flavors offered (mango, pomegranate, mint, and vanilla), I chose pomegranate. Our artist then worked on mixing different pigments together to get my perfect nude shade, and she totally nailed it on her first try. While she went on to compounding my lipstick, I decided on a name for it. Something cool that we learned was that if we ever ran out of the lipstick, we could easily reorder it by emailing their team and they can prepare it for you again since your custom shade's formula is saved in their system. While our lipsticks were cooling, we were able to watch the lipstick name being engraved onto the bullet using a laser, which was super cool to see. When our lipsticks cooled down, our artist placed them into our custom bullets and it looked so perfect. This is a great experience for a birthday, bachelorette party, or even to catch up with your girls. I highly recommend checking them out as they have multiple locations in NYC and around the country.

BACHELORETTE DISASTER! I booked my bach party for me and 15 friends about six week beforehand with many emails back and forth and a $265 deposit. All the details were sorted out and ONE hour before the event I got an email--not a phone call-- that my party was cancelled. " Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate your party tonight because we are double booked." Most of my friends were already on their way to the venue!!! We were all very excited for the Lip Lab experience and then we were all VERY disappointed. I called the store right away and after 5 tries someone picked up and blamed the mixup on a change of management. Lesson: your reservation and deposit mean nothing to this company.

I came here during my bach and wanted to give a little something to my girls and this was the perfect spot. I chose the bespoke package for 2 lipsticks for the girls and they had a blast creating their own shade lipstick. The girls were super nice and friendly here and gave us the best treatment ever! Calling to book and appointment was tough a few times but they are a busy location with guests coming in and out, walk-ins, so I don't blame them because in the end, I got my appointment and the girls had a fun time and thats all that matters. Can't wait to come back to Lip Lab to get more shades created!

A friend and I scheduled an appointment and was not disappointed with our experience! When we arrived we were seated towards the back of the space as the rest of the area was occupied. Jo did an incredible job matching us with a gorgeous lip color. I chose the one color option and was really happy with the process and the selections. At first I was in the wrong color area but Jo was able to help me figure out the direction I was looking for and I love the final product!! I am not a huge lipstick person and find myself wearing it everyday since we had it made! My friend got the custom lipstick where they blend colors until it's the perfect shade and she found two that she absolutely loved! Overall this is a great experience and the product is really nice. I've noticed it stays on for hours and it is so smooth when it's applied I forget I even have it on. If you love lipstick and want an amazing venue for a party I would highly recommend this spot. The staff was friendly and we had a great time. It was also cool that they explained the process as they created the lipstick.

First of all, you need to request my girl E. My sister and I made an appt, showed up and were sat super quickly. All of the staff here is really nice and professional- but E was the best artist I could have hoped for! Thank you E for making our experience so perfect and being thorough! I feel like she was able to just know what I needed after a quick few questions (plus I brought a few colors from home to use for inspiration). I got 2 lipsticks and the first she got PERFECT on the first try. So here for this store, this experience, and E. I will be back!

Creating your own lip color is a girls dream and BITE lip lab makes that dream come true. Overall, I was pretty happy with my experience. I decided to create two custom lip colors and was able to have the lipstick tubes engraved! It was definitely a special memory and something I'll cherish for a very long time. The mixologist were great with suggesting colors and tweaking it to your liking. My only complaint is the staff seemed rushed or tired. We had asked for water and they had none to offer which was disappointing since 1) your constantly applying product to you lip and 2) we paid quite a bit as a party of five.

Loved this place. Had such a good time with my sisters. The experience is fun! The staff is super friendly. Place is clean and bright! Mariah was awesome ! Love the color I made. You can name your lipstick and they engrave the name on the cap.

Today was my best friend's birthday so I took her to Lip Lab to make custom lipsticks. We had such a wonderful time. Laura was really accommodating and nice. She helped us pick shades, took time to listen to how we see colors, and asked if we wanted to try anything just for fun or to wear out of the store. She made the whole process really fun and enjoyable. Lip Lap is a little small, but I didn't feel crowded or rushed. I really appreciated that they were also really clean and they took time to clean the tools in between making different shades. The process starts with using their agave sugar scrub to exfoliate. Then you apply their lip mask while you talk about the shade(s) you want to try out. If you choose a matte shade like we did, you'll blot off the shine before applying your first shade. You apply the shade and they really give you time to look at it and decide if you want to make it different in any way. They'll also let you try them side by side if you're having a hard time choosing. Once you choose a shade you also get a chance to choose a scent (highly recommend the cherry--yum!) and you can choose a short name (around 7 characters) to engrave on the top of the lipstick tube. Overall, the whole process is really fun and satisfying to watch. We ended up buying three shades and the total price was around $195 and then I gave Laura a tip as well. If you get the chance to have her help you, I would highly recommend her! She was super kind and really nice. She took time to really listen too and to suggest different ways you could tweak things.
