Lisboa Carmo Hotel

This boutique hotel was very comfortable and in a lovely part of Lisbon. Our room was quiet and very charming. The bed was so comfortable that we had trouble getting up in the morning. It was truly cozy. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel staff was helpful and very friendly. Our stay was short. But, it was wonderful.

Outstanding service! Breakfast was excellent.. The room was clean, beautiful, modern and so comfortable. The Hotel has the perfect location, very close to The church of the Carmo Convent. The staff were very helpful and friendly, they made our stay in Lisbon exceptional. Moreover they helped us to get transportation to another city with a very good price.

This hotel has two things going for it. Great location and excellent beds. But that’s about it. Appalling welcome on arrival by rude evening receptionist! Suggested I go to an ATM and get cash as their credit card machine wasn’t working properly. Booking was already secured against a credit card via booking.com. Had it not been getting late we would have moved hotel immediately. |Breakfast really was the bare minimum in a very drab environment.|Such a shame as has great potential, some strong professional management needed.

Very Clean, well appointed room with a beautiful view and good restaurant. Close to shops, museums and points of interest. Staff and service were excellent with good variety for breakfast and dinner. Only issue was the WiFi was down on the 4th floor for the entire 4 days of my stay. That’s why rating was a 4 star instead of 5 but still highly recommended.

I stayed in Lisboa Carmo Hotel for a 7 night stay 2 years ago. Then a 2 night stayed in May of this year. The hotel is in an excellent quiet location for exploring Lisbon, and near public transport. My room was comfortable. All the Staff were friendly and helpful. Attached to the hotel is a delightful restaurant, which serves delicious food. There was an great selection at breakfast. I will certainly not hesitate to book “Lisboa Carmo” Hotel on my next trip to Lisbon.

Nice location, adequate room but be careful. We arrived at 9 AM after a long overseas flight. We quickly unpacked and went downstairs for breakfast before 10 AM returning to the room at 11 AM. In that 1 hour someone broke into the room and stole 2 credit cards from our portable safe. The manager was on 'Holiday' and over a 3 day period couldn't be bothered to call us. There was a camera within 5 feet of our room, but mysteriously they couldn't manage to review the film. The assitant manager said it had to be an inside job but that it didn't make sense to him. I think he's right.... but makes perfect sense to me. There are so many other hotels in Lisbon, I'd recommend any one of them over this hotel.

As many have said, the location is great! The level of service depends on the staff member. The female serving breakfast never smiles and is simply rude. She made the entire breakfast experience unpleasant. The male staff treat their female guests differently than their male guests as evidenced while I was checking out and waiting for my taxi ride. When I checked out, they did not ask me if I enjoyed my stay and no, I never complained about anything during my stay. However, when two of the male guests checked out, they asked them about their stay. The female staff member who checked us in was always pleasant. I suggest this hotel invest in customer service training for their staff to provide a consistent level of service. This was the worst hotel we stayed at during our 2-week trip to Portugal.

Nice hotel in a great location. Friendly and accommodating front desk staff! The rooms have a coffee maker , mini fridge, robes and hair dryer. It’s in a quiet street yet central for sightseeing. We had no issues and would highly recommend this hotel.

TL;DR - Charming hotel in a perfect location. We spent a week here. Having never visited Lisbon before we were unsure on where to stay but were delighted with our choice. The hotel's position is in the heart of Alto Barrio, conveniently located for all the main sights. It's right across the square from Carmo Convent, which our room had a fantastic view of. If you want to venture further, it's also just a few streets from an underground stop (Baixa Chiado). Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, all speaking perfect English. The rooms were delightful and spotless and had a fantastic shower. The hotel was quiet when we were there (it was off season) so they gave us a free room upgrade too. Free bottled water and coffee in the rooms, a nice restaurant on site... you can't go wrong!

We stayed here during covid and had a lovely stay! We loved the view from our room of the S. Gorges castle and of the church and the water! This was such a charming location located on a beautiful square with lovely cafes and restaurants. The room was really comfortable - - - particularly the bed. I appreciated the complimentary water and wi-fi. We had several inquiries for the front desk and they were very pleasant in trying to help us answer questions and with tour bookings. We very much enjoyed the breakfast buffet and service from Luis! This is a great place to stay while in Lisbon and I am grateful that I found it!

Loved this place. I booked it based on the area, I had friends recommend other place which were all booked and this one was near them with availability. It was in a perfect location to walk everywhere and they had a great outdoor terrace for drinks. Our room was a fantastic corner room with a small balcony all around. The staff was very helpful, however the wifi was not so great as I couldn't get it on my phone but I was able on my ipad, weird...Place was clean, renovated and bed was very comfy as well.

Great restaurant with a very nice atmosphere: a good mix between classy and modern-retro. The food was delicious. Everything was very well prepared and presented - congrats to the Chef. The menu offers a good balance of Portuguese and classic dishes.

Didn't stay here but ate at the restaurant. Staff was BEYOND friendly, and food + service was great. Would recommend having a meal here!

My friends and I ended up booking a room at the Lisboa Carmo Hotel on a last-minute whim. Each one of us was blown away by the friendliness of the staff, cleanliness of the building and ambiance of the entire hotel. We booked separate rooms and were very surprised to find that each room had a unique design that was very classy and made the most of the space given. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room with the view of the city was worth the upgrade! The breakfast was full of options, and was by far the best breakfast we experienced on our two-week trip. We were given welcome and departure drinks and pastries from the hotel staff. In addition to that, upon our departure we were given a small tutorial/tasting from the hotel's manager Nuno. We were very sad to leave and will definitely be back upon our next Lisbon trip.

Fantastic hotel and staff. Booked last minute after an Airbnb disaster and they were our saviors. Great location, clean, modern decor and as others have stated, the breakfast is unbelievably good! Stay here, you won't regret it!

This is a review of the Lisboa Carmo hotel and the Lisboa Pessoa hotel. Staff are great. But, and this is the big but, the rooms are completely lacking charm . 100 percent charm free. The pesoa toilet has no light in the stall, and the staff could not come up with a metal doohickey to place one of our suitcases. Subsequently we ( one of us had to grovel through our suitcases on the floor). The Carmo hotel creepy wallpaper and the shower valves were so intuitive that using them was stressful. Granted i have only been taking showers for 60 years , so maybe I'm a novice. Whoever was the designer , he , and it probably was a he, should be locked in either of these hotel rooms for a week with wife and kids and see how horrible they are. And my friends they are not cheep. Really, no light in the toilet room just ambient light filtering in from the semi transparent glass. Horrible design . Horrible horrible horrible.
