The 7 Best Hostels in Lisbon (Updated 2025)

"I loved the bright, spacious rooms with comfy beds and plenty of outlets, and the local Portuguese family who run the place were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations; the hostel saves you money with free pancake breakfasts, free soup some days, and fun weekly perks like Milkshake Mondays, Tapas Tuesdays, and Sangria Fridays, plus lots of social activities that make it easy to meet people." - Matthew Kepnes

One of the best hostel experiences I've had. This is a unique, independent hostel which is absolutely worth a stay. I have stayed in probably around 50 hostels in my life & I think this makes my top three! I had such a great stay in this hostel. It has such a cozy, home-like atmosphere. The staff are fantastic - so welcoming and helpful. There are so many things which will make this worth your stay -- a well equipped kitchen, free breakfast, a cozy TV room. Compared to chain hostels, the home-like atmosphere here is really special. The bed was comfortable with everything you'd expect from a good hostel. I think this hostel attracts a really good type of traveller. People who are friendly and outgoing. Solo travellers will definitely make friends ❤️

I only booked for one night in a 8 or 10 bed dorm (I forget now). I had a good experience staying at this hostel. When I checked in, they informed me that they had upgraded me to a 6 bed female dorm, which was so kind and a wonderful surprise to have. They give you a walk around and clearly explain everything in the hostel and they also have a wall of many activities and places to see as inspiration. Great if you have not been to Lisboa before. My room only ended up having two ther girls and it was an amazing easy stay. They include a free breakfast in the morning, which is a simple fare of meat, cheese, bread, fruit, tea/coffee/hot chocolate, juices and spreads with also some delicious house made pancakes with smiley faces. So delightful. The gentleman on evening reception was so helpful and kind on several different points. It is so close to bus stops/metro lines and walking distance to the main attractions in the heart of Lisboa. Would stay again on my travels passing through Lisboa

Amazing hostel! Great buffet breakfast, amazing service from those who work there with valuable tips for exploring the city. Rooms are spacious and clean, with big lockers and lockable charging box so your valuables don’t go missing. The hostel feels very safe with key card needed at 3 different locations when getting to your room. Also plenty of bathrooms so you never have to worry about waiting for availability. Overall, great experience for a first time solo traveller!

Exactly located in city centre, it is very convenient. Restaurants, bar, coffee shops, supermarkets, metro, bus, shopping are nearby. The staff are very helpful, nice and friendly. The hostel is having great atmosphere and good vibe especially living rooms and kitchen. The shared room is great and having all common facilities that we need plus individual fan, socket, light, locker and curtains. Also, they are providing free breakfast everyday. Need to pay for the towel 2 Euro for each and hair dryer is available for free at the reception. The hostel is wooden floor and a bit noisy during the night. The rooms next to the street might get some noise from outside. Only 2 toilets and 3 showers for shared dorm but fine.

The hostel was super clean and the bedrooms were really quiet. The staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming! Amazing free breakfast (12/10 for the pancakes 🤩) and there were lots of activities such as free walking tours, pub crawls, etc. It’s a bit of a walk to Alfama, but the Metro connection is awesome. Would recommend!

A good hotel can make you fall in love with a city, and I don't think you can find a better place to stay in Lisbon. The room was clean, the breakfast omelet with a smile was both cute and delicious, and every staff member was always smiling and ready to help with anything. This has been the best experience among all the places I've stayed. It absolutely accounts for 100% of the reason why I fell in love with Lisbon.

I stayed at Lisboa Central hostel a few times in June, each time in a 4-bed female dorm. The dorms were spacious and the stairs set-up of the bunk beds are very convenient. The AC was very appreciated. I enjoyed the breakfast (the smiley pancakes are a nice touch). The staff are super nice, especially Nuno who is a total sweetheart! He remembered me every time I came back and by my last stay we even had inside jokes! The location is not as central as other hostels but it is still very convenient near a metro station, and it's probably less noisy because of it. I recommend this hostel overall!

Great staff. They serve a nice breakfast and always leave out extra food. They have many events-like sangria or tapas nights. Tomas at the front desk is awesome. He helped me with suggestions, directions and loaned me an adapter for phone charging. Highly recommend
