The 7 Best Hostels in Lisbon (Updated 2025)

"I loved the bright, spacious rooms with comfy beds and plenty of outlets, and the local Portuguese family who run the place were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations; the hostel saves you money with free pancake breakfasts, free soup some days, and fun weekly perks like Milkshake Mondays, Tapas Tuesdays, and Sangria Fridays, plus lots of social activities that make it easy to meet people." - Matthew Kepnes

Location is perfect, right at thr heart of Lisbon with the yellow and blue metro lines right there 1 minute away from the hostel. Atmosphere is awesome, chill, quite respectful, and veeeery clean. Rooms are the best i stayed in. Spacious, comfortable and very safe with lockers at your disposal. And it was the best money I spent in hostels here in Lisbon. The offer you breakfast included, great pancakes, free coffee in the morning. And needless is to say that the staff are just right there whenever you needed them. This hostel got soul, is friendly and the best one I have stayed so far in Portugal. Thank you

One of the best Hostels i have ever stayed in. It was very social because odt the nice breakfast in the morning where everybody came together. The hostel staff was super sweet and helpful. I also loved the big doorm because they had little stairs to the top bed. I would definitely recommend to go there when you stay in Lisboa:)))

One of the best hostel experiences I've had. This is a unique, independent hostel which is absolutely worth a stay. I have stayed in probably around 50 hostels in my life & I think this makes my top three! I had such a great stay in this hostel. It has such a cozy, home-like atmosphere. The staff are fantastic - so welcoming and helpful. There are so many things which will make this worth your stay -- a well equipped kitchen, free breakfast, a cozy TV room. Compared to chain hostels, the home-like atmosphere here is really special. The bed was comfortable with everything you'd expect from a good hostel. I think this hostel attracts a really good type of traveller. People who are friendly and outgoing. Solo travellers will definitely make friends ❤️

I got bed bugs when i stayed here, I told them this and they send me a very generic mail back (copy paste). Also my towel got stolen and this has never happened to me before and I stayed in 100+ hostels in a lot of different countries. Then they cancelled my booking on Hostelworld so I couldn’t leave a review there anymore, I don’t know what happened there. I understand that this is not the hostels fault about the bedbugs and overall it was very clean. I did like the hostel with free breakfast and close to a metro station. The staff was also nice and helpful. But the guest staying there were all old and one guy harassed me, by touching me, when I was sitting in my own bed. Which wouldn’t have happened if their female only dorm was not so much more expensive. Otherwise I would have stayed there. Overall this made the experience very bad.

Exactly located in city centre, it is very convenient. Restaurants, bar, coffee shops, supermarkets, metro, bus, shopping are nearby. The staff are very helpful, nice and friendly. The hostel is having great atmosphere and good vibe especially living rooms and kitchen. The shared room is great and having all common facilities that we need plus individual fan, socket, light, locker and curtains. Also, they are providing free breakfast everyday. Need to pay for the towel 2 Euro for each and hair dryer is available for free at the reception. The hostel is wooden floor and a bit noisy during the night. The rooms next to the street might get some noise from outside. Only 2 toilets and 3 showers for shared dorm but fine.

I only booked for one night in a 8 or 10 bed dorm (I forget now). I had a good experience staying at this hostel. When I checked in, they informed me that they had upgraded me to a 6 bed female dorm, which was so kind and a wonderful surprise to have. They give you a walk around and clearly explain everything in the hostel and they also have a wall of many activities and places to see as inspiration. Great if you have not been to Lisboa before. My room only ended up having two ther girls and it was an amazing easy stay. They include a free breakfast in the morning, which is a simple fare of meat, cheese, bread, fruit, tea/coffee/hot chocolate, juices and spreads with also some delicious house made pancakes with smiley faces. So delightful. The gentleman on evening reception was so helpful and kind on several different points. It is so close to bus stops/metro lines and walking distance to the main attractions in the heart of Lisboa. Would stay again on my travels passing through Lisboa

The worse hostal I have ever stayed. I paid almost € 200 for a double room with shared bathroom. The bathrooms are very dirty, the staff is rude. I was changing in my room and all of the sudden the cleaning lady comes in… I couldn’t sleep in the night cause there was people yelling and vomiting and fighting. And they even came into my room with out my permission when I had all my belongings there. This place is ridiculous and I do t recommend it at all. The score in Booking is high because they probably pay for it… but it’s a really bad place.

The hostel was super clean and the bedrooms were really quiet. The staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming! Amazing free breakfast (12/10 for the pancakes 🤩) and there were lots of activities such as free walking tours, pub crawls, etc. It’s a bit of a walk to Alfama, but the Metro connection is awesome. Would recommend!

Yelp
This is definitely the nicest hostel I've ever stayed in. They have everything: friendly and helpful staff, free breakfast and food at night, a fancy coffee machine, hot showers, all the tourist info you could want, and they offer lots of scheduled tours and activities. It's pretty loud on the first floor though, and people start waking up before 4am and clunking around on the uninsulated wood floors.

Yelp
This was by far the best hostel I have ever stayed at and I'm surprised this is the only review left on this page. The beds were super comfortable, the sheets were clean and all the hostel beds were neat and tidy. The look is very clean and modern and the staff is so, so incredibly sweet! My friend and I got to the hostel late in the night and two hours after our expected arrival and the staff were still super accommodating. They gave us a tour of the hostel
