Lisbon Story Guesthouse

"Tell us a little about this place: Where is it, and what's the set-up?This mellow guesthouse, well-positioned near Rossio Square, boasts three different room categories and two apartments that have a kitchen and a living room, making it an ideal home-away-from-home. Sounds lovely. Who else is staying here?Travelers looking to make Lisbon feel more like an adopted city than a splurgy vacation gravitate to this sweet place. Got it. Any tips for making check-in go more smoothly?Let the staff know when you plan to arrive—that'll help make the check-in process smooth. Beyond that, everyone's hospitable and eager to help. Perfect—and thanks for the heads up. Now, onto the good stuff: Tell us about the digs.Guest rooms with names like Mar evoke images of the Atlantic just beyond the doorstep. The decor looks as though it was decorated by a friend; potted plants and white furniture gives the wood walls an airy touch. How about the little things, like the mini bar, or the shower goodies? What made your stay more comfortable?Complimentary breakfast, plus tea and coffee throughout the day. That's always a nice perk. What's the food situation?Although there's no restaurant or room service, there's a handy communal kitchen. Tip: stock up on provisions from a weekly farmers market. We'll do just that! How about the staff? Did they help ease you in?The friendly staff here quickly feels like new friends. Excellent. Anything else you think we should take advantage of?Check with the hotel about offerings like the popular surf-and-yoga package. And be sure to kick back on the tiny terrace. We will. Bottom line: is this place worth a stay, and why?Definitely book your stay here if you want to feel like a Lisboan." - Jenna Scatena

Just back from a short stay in Lisbon. We had such a great time and couldn't have asked for a more central guest house. Just off the square by the national theatre and walking distance to so much. We had a private room with shared bathroom but there was only one other room on our floor so never heard anyone else in there. Our room was on the first floor next to reception but you couldn't hear any of it so that was great. We arrived early and Beatrice at the front desk was super helpful and friendly getting us checked in early. She explained all about breakfast the next day and gave us plenty of suggestions for things to do around Lisbon, maps and all. The room was grand, we weren't in it for long only to sleep as we wanted to be out exploring. There was fresh water, towels and even an extra fan which was needed. Breakfast the next day was lovely, good selection of bread, cereal and cold cuts. We were planning a full day of exploring so checked out early and Beatrice said they would keep our luggage until that evening when we headed back to the airport, other places I've been might have only held it for a few hours. All the staff were so lovely but Beatrice was just amazing, so helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Was a good place and location. Lots around as you are on the heart of the city. Cocktails next door at night was great. Some small but notable points. No A/C, it was quite warm when we stayed. It would have been nice to get a brake from the heat. And there is no lift, so you have to carry all your stuff up two flights of stairs. And breakfast buffet in our room, was not ideal, as we don't like to waste food, but we all got more or less what we wanted. It's a small place so there isn't enough place for everyone at brekky time, so they bring the food to your room. Code access works perfect. It's easy to get in and out. I would recommend this place it the above points are not a deal braked for you. 5 stars💐

A fantastic stay! The rooms are very clean and beautifully furnished, ensuring great comfort. The staff is extremely kind and always ready to satisfy every request with a smile. The hotel is in a great location, making it easy to explore the area. The breakfast is rich and delicious, with a good variety of options. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended!

It’s more like an overpriced backpacking hostel. Rooms are super small and smelly. Basic breakfast. We saw cockroaches in the bathroom near the breakfast room. There’s no daily cleaning. Not even new towels. It’s central but in a super problematic neighborhood (be careful when you’re outside!)

The Position is the only aspect positive, very central and at reach of all important squares and transport. About service only mention that girls at the Reception were very nice and helpful for the information Room: The rate that you pay is just for the position.

The guesthouse is very nice, the rooms are basic and clean. The staff very nice and the breakfast is very good too. I’ve loved the position because you can come back anytime you want and everything you need is around you. What I didn’t like was the amount of the stairs inside the building and the fact that the main boiler was next to my room and it was noisy. Also, during the night you can’t really sleep with opened windows because you can hear everything is going on the street.

Located right near Rossio square, it was a great location. We stayed in the largest room and had a nice view. Breakfast was very good and they even have a shared kitchen for everyone's use. One thing to note is there is no elevator here and we stayed on the third floor, which meant going up about 6 flights of stairs. We didn't mind but we did have a 3 year old with us and some of the stairs are quite steep. Just good to know before booking. Otherwise we had a great stay and were even able to drop off our bags before check in.

We were given a tiny attic room with barely any space to move around, attached to a cramped bathroom. It had just one charging point for devices and did not have a tea kettle. But, to be fair, it was clean and had a functional AC. Lovely, friendly staff - they went out of their way to help us with our luggage when they realised we were senior citizens who found it difficult to climb their four narrow flights of stairs. The absence of an elevator is a serious drawback and the narrow staircase of four flights down to a single main exit in a wood panelled old building is a fire risk. Very nice breakfast. Superb location near Rossio Square. Self service laundry next door. The entry door is next to an informal gathering of street people who make one feel quite uncomfortable when coming in late at night. There is no staff on location between 10 PM to 8 AM. There is a water purifier in the office pantry but it cannot be accessed during those off hours.
