From the moment we stepped inside this beautiful hotel. Myself and my fiance caroline, knew this was the perfect place to have our wedding ceremony in. Our wedding planner patrice was absolutely fantastic. She helped and guided us through the whole process. The staff here are absolutely fantastic. Very well organised and extremely professional. The food for our wedding dinner was amazing. We personally can not and could not fault the listowel arms. We would highly recommend having your wedding day here.

They let Zoe in, albeit in their covered outside area. You can see the racecourse from there. Its a cosy, quaint sort of place with great friendly service. We all enjoyed our meals. Looked as so they had plenty of rooms to dine in or have a drink or two. I suspect that the accommodation is great too. Overall it seemed to be an olde world charming place although we did not stay there.

Fabulous warm welcome in a gorgeous, elegant hotel in the heart of the town square. The Room was terrific, overlooking the river and racecourse with a super comfy king bed. We enjoyed a lovely dinner. The Writers Bar might just be the best hotel bar in Ireland, with the best reception rooms also. Will return very soon.

We had the most astonishing wedding at the Listowel Arms Hotel on the 2nd of August, and I genuinely couldn’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we met Patrice, the wedding coordinator, we knew we were in safe hands. We first met her in the hotel itself, then again at a wedding fair in Dublin, where her warmth and professionalism really stood out. The team were so kind, gave us every bit of information we needed, and from that moment, everything just felt effortless. Patrice and her team handled every detail of our wedding from start to finish. They took over the planning and coordination so smoothly that we could truly relax and enjoy the build-up. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and everything ran seamlessly on the day. We travelled down from Dublin with 150 guests, and both the hotel and the town of Listowel embraced us completely. The town had everything our guests needed… from cafés and restaurants to lively pubs like John B. Keane’s, where we gathered the night before the wedding for an unforgettable evening. Our ceremony took place across the road at St. John’s Theatre, and when we had specific requests about decorations and seating, Patrice went above and beyond to make it perfect. She personally dressed the venue, creating the most intimate and beautiful setting imaginable. The ballroom was set up beautifully by the staff, elegant, welcoming, and full of atmosphere. You’d be amazed how many people it can comfortably cater for. What’s so special about the Listowel Arms is that you truly get to use the entire hotel… the ballroom, the bar, the front terrace, and the back patio overlooking the river and racecourse. Guests could drift between spaces, and it created a warm, social flow that made the day feel natural and alive. And the food… outstanding. The fillet steak was enormous and perfectly cooked, the butternut squash soup, the chicken vol au vant and pork belly were outrageously tasty. We received amazing feedback from our guests, that the food was incredible and generous. We were also given real flexibility with the menu… multiple options per course, tailored exactly to our preferences. The wine was lovely, and drinks were very reasonably priced. One of the hotel’s biggest charms is its rooms…each one is unique, full of character and individuality. It’s a family-run hotel, and that warmth shines through in every detail. The staff take genuine care to ensure every guest feels looked after, and that personal touch makes all the difference. While the hotel comfortably accommodated an a lot of our guests, there’s also plenty of additional accommodation throughout the town, all within walking distance… so for bigger weddings, there is capacity for everyone. The hotel will happily share local suggestions. The next morning, we enjoyed a fantastic Irish breakfast, and even for our second day, the hotel were well able to look after everyone’s lunch before we continued our celebrations in McCarthy’s, Finuge. The hotel were still as accommodating as ever when we returned late, for those who mean no end to their evening. Listowel is only 15 minutes from Ballybunion Beach, a great beach for a swim, and Ballybunion Golf Club… one of the best courses in the world. Many golfers stay in larger towns thinking Ballybunion doesn’t have high-quality accommodation nearby, but the Listowel Arms is a great base. In terms of value for money, nowhere else compared. We’d visited venues all across Ireland, but none had the warmth, intimacy, or genuine hospitality we found here. What’s so special about the Listowel Arms is how the team make you feel. They manage to look after you with incredible attention while still extending their trademark Kerry welcome to other guests… a true reflection of their experience. If you want a wedding full of charm, heart, and character… and don’t want to get lost in the commerciality of hotels… this is your venue! To Patrice and the entire team at the Listowel Arms Hotel, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the most magical wedding weekend imaginable!

The staff and public areas are excellent. The room was sadly not. It lacked some basic amenities such as heat, decent toiletries and hot water. There was a dribble of a shower and virtually no heat with only lukewarm water in the shower. I literally slept in my clothes as the weather was bitterly cold. I told staff after arriving and settling that the room was very chilly. I was assured it would be addressed. Obviously the staff and the boiler do not agree on what constitutes heat.I hate giving negative reviews but my night after an overnight flight was really not pleasant. This is an old building and more attention to hotel guests staying would be absolutely advised. The emphasis seems to be on those frequenting the dining and drinking clients.

We had our wedding at the Listowel Arms Hotel on August 2nd, and it was everything we dreamed of and more. From start to finish, the experience was incredible. Patrice and her team were an absolute breath of fresh air—she went above and beyond to make sure everything ran perfectly on the day. Thanks to her, we didn’t have to worry about a single detail. The team even sourced all of the décor and some of the floral arrangements as part of our package, which made the planning so much easier.||The hotel staff were outstanding—so friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making the day special for us and our guests. The bridal suite is stunning, and the hotel itself has such a charming, quaint vibe that made it feel extra special. The food was phenomenal, and our family and friends are still talking about how impressed they were, not just with the meal but with the hotel overall.||The hotel was able to accommodate most of our guests, and those who stayed nearby had no trouble finding a great selection of B&Bs and Airbnbs in the town. On a personal note, the venue holds a lot of nostalgia for me as my grandmother’s house is nearby, and we spent so many summers in Kerry—it made the day feel even more meaningful.||We truly cannot fault a single thing about the Listowel Arms Hotel. It’s a beautiful venue with an amazing team, and we’ll always be so grateful for the memories they helped us create.

From the moment we stepped into this beautiful, Georgian hotel we were made to feel v special. We were here for my partners 60th birthday and we were upgraded to the most beautiful suite! So comfortable and spacious. The hotel itself is stunning, full of history, very clean and decor is like stepping back in time. But for me, it was the excellent staff that work here. From Jessica on the desk to Bridgette in the restaurant and to the wonderful young people working in the hotel, we were so well looked after. In fact every member of staff deserves a mention. We are definitely coming back!, 😊

We had our wedding on 11th July 2025 in Listowel Arms Hotel and from start to finish is was perfect. We fell in love with the hotel on our first viewing and meeting with Patrice the wedding co-ordinator we knew we were in great hands! Patrice was absolutely amazing planning everything, she was so accommodating and nothing was an issue. She has so much knowledge and love for planning weddings, she really took away all of our stresses. We really had a perfect day for our wedding, everything ran on time and smoothly through out the day and night, the staff were all so lovely, the meal was beautiful and everyone had a fantastic night. It's a lovely hotel and beautifully decorated. We are so happy we had a our wedding day in Listowel Arms.

Yelp
Had three rooms reserved here for a holiday stay in December 2023. Immediately upon going to our rooms we noticed several alarming things....all the bathrooms had black mold, one sink was not attached to the wall, two shower doors did not work and it took over 12 minutes to get lukewarm water to the shower and sink. When we asked the manager about that, they just said to be patient. When my wife sat on the chair in the room it broke in half. The room came with dinner, but three of us got violently sick that night and were vomiting the whole next day. The Listowell pharmacy said it sounded like food poisoning. When we brought all of this to the attention of Maggie at the front desk, she basically said oh well and would do nothing to help correct us having to stay in dirty, unsanitary rooms and get food poisoning from their food. She offer no credit even though we spent over 900 euros at the hotel. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of here.

Yelp
My family and I flew in from the United States for my best friends wedding. From the booking process, to check in, to meals, the room and the wedding overall- the experience was absolutely AMAZING. I own my own catering business back home and have been in the hospitality industry for about half my life and I have never experienced such hospitality (and great food)! Patrice and her team (especially chef) are running a top notch establishment and we will most certainly be coming back on our next trip! PS - make sure you try the afternoon tea - my dad recommends it! Gabrielle DellaDonna

Yelp
Sunday evening dinner. Let's try the Arms you think ..... Well don't. To start the tables in dining room were not clean. Even though it was almost empty. The food was awful. The sad part is I met a cook on her way home exhausted after a 13 hour day. She knows good food I bet. But isn't allowed make or serve it based on what we had. Soup my wife had was ok. I had Cesar salad which was served on a plate so hot the server had to use a towel to carry it. Salad on a piping hot plate WTHeck. The salad itself was tasty but come on. My wife had the summer salad for mains. You think light fresh crisp with a lemon or citrus dressing. Well it was so covered with an oily dressing and loaded with feta she couldn't eat more than half. I ordered roast of the day on ciabatta with chips. ( Chips were like €4 Extra). Sandwich arrived literally as described.... Toasted ciabatta with thick slices of dried out roast beef and a few green lettuce leaves. No dressing at all. It was so dry I could only eat half. I asked for mustard they only had Dijon, I like Dijon, but not a whole ramakin of the stuff. The fries arrived late, piping hot, unsalted. No vinegar or ketchup. A glass of wine and two beers and I got no change from €55. Please guys do better. Food is easy. Service is about training. And food service is about selling.

Yelp
Second meal on a different trip and got the full Irish breakfast. 10e. In fact all 4 of us did. We all substituted scones for the toast. All enjoyed and finished the meal. We love the setting and the service is generally good. Except getting the check but they were busy. No more banoffee pie.makes me sad.

Yelp
We just hosted my mothers 75th birthday here, and it was lovely. This hotel seems to defy physics, as it looks from the outside like a small store front, but opens out in back to a relatively large dining area. The interior has that nice level of old fashioned decor that seems to be recently renovated. The meal was good - pretty typical for a hotel in the country, but nicely prepared and the service was great. If you are dining there try to get a window in back over looking the river and race course. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
Have stopped here recently for lunch in the bar and the experience was excellent. The quality of food, the hospitality of the staff and the reasonable pricing just all scream excellent value for money.
