Lisu Lodge, Northern Thailand - Explore & Book

"Hill treks and activity tours are 2-a-baht in Chiang Mai. But the ones run by Asian Oasis are a cut above the rest. Like their imitations, they offer 1- to 3-day combinations of trekking, paddy field visits, white water rafting, visits to hill tribes, cycle rides and cookery. But what sets them apart is their beautiful flagship lodge, Lisu Lodge, set in the lush countryside surrounding Chiang Mai. You can expect sunset drinks, tasty and lovingly cooked Thai food, woven walls and floors, mosquito nets and simple bathrooms. Why we chose this partner We liked their low-key approach, with limited group numbers (often only 4-6) There's an amazing range of activities on offer, from cycling around a peanut plantation to lurching across a river on a raft The obvious experience and professionalism of the guides, some of whom are native hilltribe villagers, means guests are welcomed as friends rather than as gawpers We were impressed by their commitment to eco and social issues" - Michael Cullen

Amazing location lost in nature. You are totally disconnected from the world. The staff is nice and welcoming, tea and coffee is always available for their guests. Rooms are quite comfortable but you can hear everything from other rooms because you share the same bamboo wall. Staff is friendly and caring. Food is tasty and always vary. The only meal you can choose is breakfast, the other meals are set menus. Probably, something it can be improved is the communication with their guests. But overall I would recommend it 100%

Overpriced. Just paid 18,000 baht for a 2 night stay including food, a hike, and one way airport transfer. The staff were lovely and the location was great. But the level of service does not match the price. Some examples of things that would only be acceptable at a lower price point: - the food is basic and slightly cold. There is no choice of lunch or dinner. - I was not offered a drink once, only once walking to reception did I discover there were cold drinks. - we paid 1,300 baht each for a hike around the hotel area. It was shared with 12 other people and lasted only 2 hours. - the ‘steam room’ is a damp box, not warm at all. - the staff attempted to charge us 500 baht for a 30 min unguided bike ride on old rusty bikes (this was rescinded when we pushed back) - on returning from our hike we could not return to our room area as it had been rented out for a tour group?!? It’s unclear where all this money goes. While it says the money goes to the village, it’s not transparent e.g it feels unlikely our lovely hiking guide was getting the 18,200 baht his 2 hour walk raked in. Having said that the staff are lovely and the location is stunning. If you want a local experience but are not too fussed about price then go for it.

An incredibly beautiful place! The staff are lovely and knowledgeable, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the surrounding gardens and landscape are stunning! All meals were healthy and delicious, and they were very accommodating for vegan diets. Highly recommend staying for two nights to relax and learn about the Lisu people. I'd love to visit again one day. Thank you, Lisu Lodge!

Lovely place in the middle of nature, the service, the staff and the food were really perfect! A bit far from the centre of Chiang Mai, the best thing is to rent a car, and we also suggest the tea plantation visit, it was a lovely experience! The room is simple but clean, the bed a bit too shot

Haven’t even gotten there yet but already I am upset. I booked through Agoda prepaid non refundable and no one has replied to my messages or answered the phone to help arrange transportation. I am an injured solo female and the lack of ability to communicate with anyone is unacceptable. Especially when the property is in such a remote area. Let’s see what happens but I’m not satisfied at this point. UPDATE: I never made it. I did get a full refund without hesitation after finding a WhatsApp number for the parent company. I did have to do some digging around to find that number. It shouldn’t have been this hard to finally communicate with someone. The person I communicated with was very helpful and nice. I wanted to stay at the lodge. I was looking forward to it. This last minute change left meScrambling for what else to do, with an injured leg. It was quite an inconvenience. Really disappointed.

The location is extremely remote, and the reception staff is not welcoming at all—there was no genuine smile or warmth from the guy. On a positive note, the lady who prepares dinner is absolutely wonderful and kind. However, it’s disappointing to see that the owner has this lovely lady carrying luggage, which feels very unfair. The place is overly touristy and takes quite a while to reach, which adds to the inconvenience. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the best experience overall and wouldn’t return to this place. That said, the breakfast and dinner were enjoyable, thanks to the efforts of the same kind lady.

Loved our stay at the Lisu Lodge, it was a peaceful and wonderful experience. The food was good and tasted really fresh. Chu, the manager, was attentive and helpful. I would recommend coming especially during the last few weeks of November as the weather and temperature was perfect.

A fantastic experience from start to end. Sunrise to sunset, we felt immersed in nature. We loved touring the local village, and the staff was lovely! Every meal was delicious. We will definitely be returning!
