We recently visited this small, family-owned Italian restaurant, and it was such a wonderful experience. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, just like dining in someone’s home. Their homemade pasta was absolutely excellent — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. They also make their own desserts, which were delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. You can really taste the care and tradition in everything they serve. The staff were attentive and friendly, making the whole evening even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Italian food and a cozy, family-style dining experience.

A+ Sicilian family Restaurant with authentic cuisine. The marinara sauce is light and bright and tastes like fresh tomatoes. The baked flounder was really fresh and cooked to perfection. The eggplant rollatini was also cooked perfectly. I just love how the Sicilians cook with the simplest of ingredients and bring out the best in food. Highly rate this gem for authentic family style cuisine.

This is a family-run establishment that serves truly remarkable food. We were recommended to visit by a friend, and we were not let down. We decided to try a variety of items from the menu, and we found ourselves thoroughly enjoying every single one. The service provided was exceptional, and the prices were reasonable. Without a doubt, I highly recommend trying their lentil soup and calamari. They are absolute must-haves.

Last Friday evening, my family and I had the pleasure of dining at L'Italiano Trattoria around 5:15 pm, spontaneously and without a reservation. Despite being fully booked, the staff kindly found us a table, asking only that we finish by 6:45 pm. This warm welcome was a wonderful start to our visit. The atmosphere was intimate and friendly, with many guests greeted personally, indicating a loyal and regular clientele. This charming spot is a true hidden gem, cherished by those who prefer timeless quality over fleeting trends, and it's evident in the lack of widespread online acclaim. Service was exceptionally quick. We were immediately served water and delicious complimentary bread, showcasing the staff's efficiency and expertise. Our order was taken with impressive memory, further displaying the team's professionalism. For starters, we had the Misto Oreganato, a homemade delight with a subtle breading that enhanced the flavors, particularly the white wine in the sauce. The Pasta Primavara, ordered by my sons, was thoughtfully served on two plates, emphasizing the kitchen's attention to detail. The dish itself was fresh and perfectly balanced. The Calamari Salad was a hit, featuring excellently grilled calamari with a light dressing. The Cannelloni stood out with its perfectly cooked pasta and rich ricotta filling. Opting to take our desserts home, we were thrilled with the cheesecake, reminiscent of the famous Eileen's in Nolita, and the Nutella Mousse Chocolate Cake was equally delightful. Concluding our meal with the convenience of tableside card payment, we left impressed by the seamless experience. L'Italiano Trattoria is where tradition, outstanding service, and culinary expertise come together. We eagerly anticipate our next visit, this time with a reservation, to enjoy this much-loved local gem once again.

Disappointed. We ordered chicken parm and spagetti and we ended up throwing it away unfortunately. The chicken seemed not to be fully cooked. It was chewy and gummy and tough. Didn't want to risk food poisoning so garbage it went.

Authentic, delicious food. I visited here with friends and the food was so good. I'm definitely coming back with my family. I got to try a little bit of everyone's dish and I was not disappointed with any of them. I had the the...Pollo alla fria (I believe that's the name), Chicken with spinach, prosciutto in a wine sauce, yummy.

Came here for my brother’s birthday. Vinny and everyone working in the restaurant took care of us. The owner and her mother completely accommodated us because our dinner ran a little later and we still wanted to have cake to which they were more than happy to oblige! I love how their menu lists the courses out just like how it is in Italy!

Absolutely incredible!!! Delicious food, great service, and such a nice, clean restaurant. We cleaned every single plate on our table. If you’re in the area, definitely stop in!

Came here for my friends birthday. It was so crowded on a Friday! This place is popular and I can tell why. The food was spectacular. My taste buds were content. I tried whiting fish with a side of fries. Whiting fish was so good and I recommended if you like fish!

I had driven past this place for the last several years and always wanted to dine here. So what kept me away? I don't know, but I finally had the opportunity to dine here with our group from the Bayside Hills Civic Association. * Service 3 out of 5 = Service was a little slow, but we did have a group of 25. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. Just keep in mind that you may have to wait a little bit for the food to come out. I was told that the owner cooks everything by herself so in that regard you know it's prepared with lots of love. * Decor 3 out of 5 = Average interior appointments. You won't be wowed away with the interior design or the silverware. * Food 4 out of 5 = we had the following : - Bread drizzled with olive oil. Nothing fancy, I know it's complimentary, but I would have preferred they gave us the olive oil with some salt and pepper so we can season our own bread. - Calamari- Lightly breaded, not too greasy with a crunchy exterior and contrasting soft interior. The marinara sauce was ok. - Caprese salad - The freshness of the tomatoes paired with creamy mozzarella and aromatic basil created a harmonious blend of flavors. I was disappointed that there was no drizzle of balsamic glaze. - Penne ala vodka - Perfectly cooked al dente and the best part of the pasta, it came out piping hot! The penne perfectly absorbed the rich and velvety vodka-infused tomato cream sauce. - Pollo francese - The tender chicken cutlets were coated in a light, lemony egg batter. The lemon butter sauce was a perfect complement, providing a zesty and velvety finish to each bite with a wonderful balance of savory and citrusy notes - Cannoli cream cake - Delicious and moist and i was told by the server all the desserts are homemade. A nice way to end dinner with a slice of cake paired with a cup of cappuccino, perfect. ******Overall restaurant score 4 out of 5****** This corner restaurant is a hidden gem. It's small and exudes a sweet charm, making it an ideal spot for a cozy meal. The portion sizes are smaller when compared to other restaurants and there are areas that can be improved on, like presentation and plating. It's the little details that should never be overlooked. NOTE: No private parking lot. Plenty of street parking and outdoor patio opens up for dining when the weather warms up.

I had a wonderful dinner with my family at L'Italiano Trattoria past weekend. My cousin from England was visiting and was great to see family again! I had Risotto Pescatore - Shrimp, clams, mussels, and calamari in a light tomato sauce. It was so delicious and the tomato sauce was a great touch! The Chocolate Gelato was so good as well! Really enjoyable Italian food in Bayside!

Came here for my dad's birthday after a recommendation from a family member. I was extremely disappointed. The ambiance of this place is mixed. The decorations and walls are great, but it is just a giant open room and the acoustics are terrible. Five of us were sitting at the same table, and I couldn't hear anyone besides the person directly next to me. We ended up all just looking at our phones. The service was extremely slow, and we had to ask for everything. The servers were very apologetic, but at a certain point, I feel like they were just chatting with customers, etc. When the food finally came it was mixed. The chicken dishes seemed to be pretty tender, but the veal dishes were very tough. The marsala was a good call, but I got the chicken alla sophia and it was very very salty. And since we didn't have access to water, it wasn't the best experience. Meanwhile, we opted for vegetables instead of pasta, and the vegetables were very bland. Overall, the friendliness of the server, and the tender chicken doesn't make up for the extra salty food and very slow service. Would not come back.

I've been here twice and live distance from here. Everything is made fresh from scratch and delicious. The staff is accommodating and friendly family run business. My first time I had baked clams appetizer and pappardelle with meatballs both delicious and enough. My second time I got both specials that they had for the week which they mix some different apps and entrees each week. Mixed seafood ravioli served with baby shrimp and appetizer mix of scallops shrimp and baked clams topped with breadcrumbs both very good. It is very low key place not many know about in Bayside the staff know most of customers that come here frequently by name. I'm glad I have an authentic Italian restaurant close by to where I live

I went to this restaurant Friday night...I give a 5 stars.. The service was great and the food were so good..The prices was reasonable..Definitely will recommend this restaurant to my friends..

Don't even try to dispute/refute or rebut this review. This is without question the finest restaurant in Oakland Gardens. This is clearly a "Mom & Pop" family-run institution. Ingredients are incredibly fresh. Food is delicious. Andrea and I enjoyed the outdoor seating throughout the summer. We particularly enjoy walking from our coop to the restaurants. With the cold weather, we typically will drive on over. Despite what I used to believe, parking is not that bad. The restaurant seems to be frequented by locals, but - it appears that customers are also some "Out-of-Towners." Service is always excellent. They have a great menu selection, and if you want something reasonable, they can make it for you as well. I find L'Italiano Trattoria to be a very comfortable and relaxing restaurant. At times, it can get a bit noisy, but - it's just a bunch of hungry people enjoying themselves. This is "Our" go-to - neighborhood restaurant when we want a consistently reliable excellent, and well-priced meal. Check out the many pictures that I have posted. I visited on a Wednesday evening and was surprised to see the packed dining room. With one bite of the delicious food served by the attentive staff I understood why! The baked clams were tender and bathed in a light lemony butter sauce and are among the best that I have ever had. I ordered a half portion of the pasta special which featured homemade papardelle tossed with mushrooms, peas and tomatoes in garlic and oil. For the main I got the delicious Pollo della Sophia which was two thin, tender chicken breasts topped with spinach, prosciutto and mozzarella in a light sauce which melted in my mouth. It came with a side of sautéed vegetables that were perfectly cooked. The restaurant doesn't have a full bar so plan accordingly but I did enjoy a nice glass of Chianti with my meal. The prices are affordable and the service was on point. Everything was served piping hot and you could tell that the dishes were freshly made for each customer. I will most definitely be back!

A true hidden gem! Went for a Sunday dinner with close friends, and we all agreed, the food was spectacular: fresh, delicious, five stars in every respect. The chicken francaise was pounded thin like you'd expect at a much more costly restaurant, so tender and so flavorful. Best of all, like the eggplant rollatini I had as an appetizer, it was surprisingly light, not over-battered or greasy as I've experienced in other places. The location here is ideal--probably the only spot in Bayside where you won't have trouble parking--and the restaurant itself is beautifully designed and immaculately clean. Finally, the staff couldn't have been lovelier or more accommodating. L'Italiano Trattoria is so good, I almost want to keep the secret to myself, but something so special, so true to authentic Italian cuisine, deserves to be celebrated.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! From the second you walk in you feel as if you're part of the family. The food is phenomenal! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable! I could go on but you're better off experiencing it in person. Highly recommended!!!

Been going to this restaurant for years, homemade and fresh food all the time. Chef Grace is amazing with her home cooking. Staff is always friendly and helpful in your choices. A gem in the neighborhood!!
