Little Beach Boathouse

This restaurant is wonderful. The service was second to none and the food was excellent. I cannot rate this establishment highly enough! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

The food was soooo tasty! Best cocktails I’d had in a long time and happy to accommodate any changes we requested. Service was impeccable!(unfortunately can’t remember our servers name to give him the credit he WELL deserves!) We didn’t feel rushed or pressured once even when upselling more drinks or desserts. Would 100% recommend to anyone in the area!

Loved this place, situated in an idyllic spot overlooking Nelson Bay. Watching the late afternoon light merge into sunset made for a delightful experience. Our meal started with Shark Bay half shell scallops with candied blood orange and jamon. This turned out to be a perfect blend of flavours. The other entree was rare sliced house smoked duck breast with citrus, radicchio, cherry caramel and wattle hazelnut. It tasted delightful. Following this, the main course consisted of fresh local sword fish with spinach and ricotta ravioli in saffron pasta, saffron beurre blanc, broccoli, blistered tomato and toasted pepita. We chose the recommended wine with each course and were not disappointed. Dessert was a tasting plate for two with a sample of each desert. Accompanied by coffee, this was a pleasant way to finish the meal. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and are happy to recommend this delightful restaurant.

The entire experience was amazing. Sherwin really looked after us. Not too much and not too little attention. From the get go, he knew our names and had a great attitude. The black ink squid spaghetti with the halopenos was just perfect, as well as the fresh oysters. Thank you Dean for running such a great restaurant. We WILL return...

The food was lovely and we were grateful for the very friendly staff. The view is also gorgeous. It was very easy to pay with our gift card, a great Christmas or birthday gift!

Beautiful location, amazing food and excellent service from the second you step through the door. Our server (Kathy) even went to the effort to learn our names. No problem accomodating for allergies. The squid ink pasta was the best meal of our stay in Nelson’s Bay! 10/10!

Delicious food, great cocktails, friendly staff and a fabulous view. Went there for my birthday dinner and thoroughly enjoyed myself, and even got a birthday song. Will be back next time we're in town. Lots of great seafood options which were fresh fresh and included some native additions, good selection for kids and a delicious looking vegetarian/vegan menu as well.

I absolutely love coming to Little Beach Boathouse. I visit Shoal Bay every year and without fail I always make a point of dining at Little Beach Boathouse, whether for lunch or dinner. I bring family and friends with me and every single visit has been a wonderful dining experience. The staff are consistently warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming. We particularly love Sherwin! His service is truly exceptional. He has an incredible ability to remember people’s names, which adds such a personal and memorable touch to the experience and makes us feel genuinely valued. The food is outstanding. Between myself and the many people I’ve dined here with over the years, I think we’ve enjoyed almost everything on the menu and every dish has been superb. The quality, presentation, and flavours are always exceptional. Little Beach Boathouse is a place where you can relax, enjoy beautiful food and drinks, and feel completely looked after. If you are visiting or living in Shoal Bay, do yourself a favour and make time to dine here. It is an absolute highlight every time.

Loved the position, view, service and excellent food but was hard to leisurely enjoy a 3 course Anniversary dinner knowing we had to leave in time for 2nd sitting.

I read the reviews for this place, and I'm a little confused about the suggestions but it's not ideal for those with children. In actual fact it's far from it. The service is excellent with great conversation prompt delivery of orders and a positive attitude towards the customer. The food is best described as simply amazing

First day in town & hosts said this was the place to eat. We weren't disappointed! Beautiful setting on the water to watch the sunset & listen to the gentle waves. Food, drinks & service were all excellent... and great value!

This restaurant is amazing. The location is just amazing with it being situated right on the beach meaning you get a great water view. The bar downstairs offers a great variety of food as well as drinks. The restaurant upstairs is divine. The service is great and they even give you a little bowl of popcorn. The food upstairs is amazing. The squid ink pasta is to die for as well as the three pigs (pork belly, chorizo and prosciutto). Although it is expensive so be prepared to spend a chunk of cash.

As Lauren discovered in 2015, this place was--and is still--fabulous. My partner and I came for drinks and tapas on a Saturday night (there is now a pub-type space downstairs, which is where we went), and were thrilled with the beautiful setting, great service and tasty local brews. Things were quite busy, but we were able to find a table, order and see our fries and squid arrive promptly. While I don't go in much for calamari, my partner was very happy with it, and since it's easy to go wrong with seafood, that's high praise! I would happily go back and would love to enjoy the views during the day!

Lex and I went up the coast this weekend with my parents. It was a lovely weekend and we were lucky that the sun came out for us on Sunday so we could have a swim at the beach. For my overseas and inter-state readers, Port Stephens really is a beautiful part of NSW and it's far enough from our home to feel like a holiday but close enough to still feel relaxing and not be a mission to get to. My parents have a holiday apartment up there so it's also home to a lot of fond memories and sunny summer days. Amazing service and food was to die for! Serving sizes were quite big and the cocktails were great too! Would definitely recommend

We came up from Newcastle to take a very good friend for lunch on Saturday and the staff were friendly and the food was nice but both my boys asked me to stop at McDonalds on the way home because they were both still hungry and after paying $126 for food only I was really disappointed. I won't be back. I think both the prices and sizes of the meals is aimed at the tourist market.
