My wife is 100% Czech so when we were were near we had to stop in. The goulash was amazing, as was the pork tenderloin sandwich. Service was great.

Google
Great little bar in the Czech quarter with friendly staff and great tenderloin. Will definitely try the goulash if we're in town again.

I’ve wasted a lot of money in my life, but this was by far the worst $50 I’ve ever spent. The fact that this place has ratings above a 1 tells me that their drinks must be strong. We were visiting from out of town for the holidays and stopped by for a late lunch. Their fried mushrooms tasted like fried sink sponges filled with water, food was microwaved (they don’t even hide it). “Czech goulash” tasted like spaghettios from a local discount food store and a bowl of kraut had a long hair in it right at the top. Very disappointing, the owners must be counting on a drunk crowd to stay open. This place would be a great candidate for Kitchen Nightmares. Gordon would have a field trip.

I have a Czech heritage, and so while in Czech village, I was looking for some authentic Czech food. They had 3 things on the menu they advertised as Czech dishes. I chose the pork loin over dumplings. I was very disappointed when I got it. Growing up with Czech grandparents dumpling means a small round mushy potato mix (potato dumplings). I've never even seen a bread dumpling... before Little Bohemia anyway. Not at all what I was expecting, but that was just the start. The pork was dry, and the gravy tasted like something straight from a can they bought at HyVee. I've never had bread dumplings before, so I don't know how it's supposed to taste or the consistency. What came with my dish seemed to me to nothing more than a heavy slice of bread. When I asked about the "dumplings," I was unapologetically told that's what a dumpling is, and that's what comes with it. Good service would have said something like, "I'm sorry it's not what you expected, would you like the mashed potatoes instead?" Which was the other choice with this dish on the menu. All in all, a poor experience both in food and service. Also, the wooden chairs are pretty uncomfortable. Oftentimes, I like to give a place a chance to redeem itself. This was a poor enough experience, Idoubt I will give Little Bohemia that chance.

Google
I absolutely love this place! First timer. So comfortable, amazing food, kick-butt music... absolutely perfect! Definitely coming back.

Google
The place was not what I call clean. Got a five minute sermon from the server on the dangers of plastic straws for sea turtles, and how they get stuck in their noses. What!? How insulting! Won’t be returning. He did finally bring an unwrapped straw.

Google
Eclectic, laid back atmosphere. Dim lighting with half the building being windows. Service was not perfect- a bit slow and uninvolved until the owner started taking care of us and he was a lot of fun and did a great job. It was our first time being there so might have been a fluke. The food made it worth the wait, I had the breaded (famous) tenderloin and my wife had the triple decker and both were extremely good. Top two tenderloins I've ever had. Good selection of beers as well Overall a good experience with fantastic food.

Google
Great spot down by the Cedar River. I am a big fan of Czech Pilsners and insisted we make time for a lunch and a beer there. What a great time; chatted it up with the locals and the bartender on an early Friday afternoon. I ordered the goulash and dumplings and my darling ordered a pork tenderloin. Both were great but hers was exceptional. Solid selection of Czech beers, Czechvar being my favorite. Reasonable tab for food and drinks and a nice friendly visit with locals to boot in an authentic old-school tavern. If you visit be sure to have them point out how high the flood waters got in the 2008 downpours.

Yelp
Excellent service! Fantastic Czech goulash! All homemade! The oldest bar in Cedar Rapids! Kudos to my friend Jeff!

Yelp
My husband and I have been coming here for years. There is something very special about this place. Family owned for 39 years and the oldest bar in Cedar Rapids. When you visit you will love all the original furnishings, the newspaper articles and so many nostalgic pictures. This place has survived many up and downs with the most recent being the pandemic and having a hard time finding employees ( as in every industry right now). If you are looking for a uniques cozy atmosphere with an owner for over 39 years, look no further. Also when the owner (Jeff) isn't busy ask him to see his pictures of his original establishment when it first opened. We highly recommend Little Bos for everyone!!!

Yelp
If you want authentic home cooking this is the place. Old time bar, decor hasn't changed much in 40 years. Great food when available. Kitchen hours are limited

Yelp
I wish there was a zero star rating. I'd give it to this place as it is a loser thanks to the hostile owner. I was very excited to try this place as I'd come to town to make a donation, with my husband and kids, of some family papers to the National Czech Museum. I was excited to show my kids Bohemian/Czech food. We stopped in for lunch on a quiet Friday. A few tables were taken, mostly old people and what appeared to be "unfriendly locals" who were being served by the guy at the bar who must also be the owner. When we expressed an interest to sit at a table in the sunlight he said we could only sit at a four-top as the table we wanted seats 5. Mind you, there was zero demand for tables and I can see why. He grudgingly got us glasses of water and refused to bring menus. So...we got up and left. I would never patronize this place. It does have historic ambiance but it it also has modern hostility and does not deserve anyone's support if this is how the owner treats enthused visitors hoping to connect a little in the historic district. Honestly, if this is how he treats his customers it would be good to leave this place to the dustbin of history.

Yelp
Was out with the family tonight went to lil Bo's the owner started telling his employee that she was wrong took her in the kitchen as we could see started yelling at her then told us to leave because he was stressed out by her he shouldnt be a owner of anything if he cant respect his help or others

Terri K.

Yelp
The most AMAZING pork tenderloin I've had and don't get me started on the sweet potato fries!! Family owned and super friendly staff! Nothing but a thumbs up from us!!

Yelp
Cozy Little dive bar that made its way into a famous Marvin Cone painting. Nestled right in between the New Bohemian area and the Czech Village area, this bar provides a ton of atmosphere and historical trinkets. For a city that has two districts named for the Czech people it is surprisingly complicated to find good Czech and Slovakian food. I had the goulash and dumplings with sauerkraut. Definitely the best sauerkraut I've ever tried. The goulash and dumplings was just like granny made it. I would definitely recommend this place for historical atmosphere and delicious food!

Yelp
Best Holiday decorated bar in downtown CR! Cozy atmosphere for the Holiday season! Been here many times! One of my most favorite bars to be at for the Christmas season. That being said. Jeff my not always come off as Jolly as SANTA, at first, but give him a little time. He can become as friendly as a sugar cookie once you get to know him. Burgers and tenderloin is good Goulash is great! Also only bar with 6ft SANTA! With Christmas Music!

Yelp
Be aware if you leave a bad review, this is the response you will get. In their defense, another member replied to my FB post, and apologized for the misunderstanding. So I think they can be decent. They may want to change their Facebook password so their friends can't comment on their behalf.

Yelp
RUN AWAY... if the bar owner is in the house. Now, I've been wanting to go to this place for a long time, so my wife and I walked through the doors tonight and found a very pleasant bar. We bellied-up to the bar. The gal bartending was friendly, and all was well. But an hour later, I asked a guy behind the bar (come to find out he's the owner) to kindly remove about 15 spent beer glasses off the bar so my wife and I could slide over to make room for others that just walked in. The owner not so kindly advised me that there were plenty of tables and he wasn't going to make room at the bar. We left. Oh, the other customers (witnesses) said they usually peak in the door first to make sure the owner is not there before they go in. What a jerk.

Yelp
Zero rating never been there. The guy with hon solo hair cut decided to be douche bag has a little dick. Me being a manager of my store of 5 years thought it was completely unacceptable belittling me and my friend because we looked young; remind you I just turned 26 a week ago. I had already had a few drinks so I said I want a shot iced (chilled) decided to educate me on iced and chilled to the point I had said "sorry I meant chilled I have had a couple drinks." I had said this 3 times and he continued to explain the difference. Only reason I was out of my house was due too depression.... but I'm glad I had my friend there because I probably would have ended up hurting my self. On top of that of me being black I don't know what his deal was I just new oldest bar in Cedar Rapids I wanted to check it out just know I'm never coming back I will keep going to tornados , kickstand , fongs and all the other places before I ever and I mean EVER COME BACK !!!!!!!!

Yelp
Good place to go in Cedar Rapids. Goulash with dumplings enjoyable comfort food. Sauerkraut slaw was nice variation on cole slaw.

Danielle W.

Yelp
Great tenderloins and friendly staff. It's known as the oldest bar in Cedar Rapids. Jeff, the owner, is fun and entertaining.

David O.

Yelp
Had an excellent tenderloin at this quit little icon of Cedar Rapids with a local craft brew. Hadn't been here in several years but will make it a point to return soon. Great place!

Kelly P.

Yelp
This is a great neighborhood bar!! Old fashion with lots of personality. The owner goes out of his way to make you feel at home. Great place for a trek down memory lane.

L K.

Yelp
Food was bad. Owner was rude. So many other choices in the area. Don't bother with this one.

CRfoodlover S.

Yelp
Little bos is a timeless classic. Amazing Czech cuisine. The atmosphere is great for going out with a few buddy's. The Czech dishes are amazingly crafted and the American dishes on the menus are very good as well. The owner works his butt of everyday they are open. I love this place, will never stop going. High recommendation if you want to know what Cedar Rapids was built on.

Sue T.

Yelp
Advertised hours until 11 p.m. apparently depend on the whim of the staff. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and the kitchen was closed. When we asked for a recommendation for some place that served burgers, the server was unhelpful. Then we discovered that the place right across the street was known for its burgers.

Abigail H.

Yelp
The oldest bar in Cedar Rapids, Little Bo's has a great story. Jeff the owner is fun as long as you don't expect for him to cater to you. It's just a good place to relax and feel right at home, so if you are in a hurry go somewhere else because no one has time for that.

Katie H.

Yelp
I really like this little bar. It's a nice, quiet place to take a date or have a conversation. It has a very cozy feel...there is a wood burner right in the middle of the place and comfy little chairs around tables that look like something in my grandparents' house. The people who work and frequent the place are all friendly and welcoming. I know they serve lunch, but I'm unsure about when else the kitchen is open.

Cat L.

Yelp
Little Bohemia has all the charm of old Czech Town and the food is all homemade. It's never pre-made, so yes there is a wait because everything is made fresh. If you want it fast, go to McDonald's. Little Bo has the best tenderloin sandwiches in Iowa! They are made from scratch! The baked beans are delightful, thick and smoky sweet. Jeff is a lovable character and so are some of the regulars there. It's not cookie cutter bar, this place is original from the get go. Don't go if you're in a rush for a business lunch. Go when you have time to savor some good home cooking (lots of the recipes are Jeff's mom's and grandma's) and maybe have a beer or two.

Cary B.

Yelp
Excellent food if you are young enough to wait an hour and 15 minutes for a sandwich. If there are more than 8 people in there when you go in, turn around and go to Parlor City up the street. If 8 or fewer customers you'll probably love the food and get it in reasonable time

Tommy W.

Yelp
Every time I say it wasn't good my friends make excuses. Give it another chance, it's not that bad...It is that bad. Warm beer on St. Joseph ' s day? Should be your best day of the year and you knew it was coming. I've had better food in the hospital cafeteria. Owner always looks like you're putting him out, never says thanks or Sorry for the shitty food, shitty service and warm beer. Oh, you want to use a card? That's a dollar! Close thw fucking doors and walk away, you ruined a once good spot.

Sarah B.

Yelp
I went in there about 6 months ago and it too ten minutes for someone to even notice I was there. Then when the dark haired gentlemen noticed me he said "be right with you" then left for another five minutes. I'm cool with waiting when you're busy and understaffed, but his attitude left a bad taste in my mouth.

Nathan D.

Yelp
This spot is one of my favorite regular stops in town. One of the best tenderloins around.

Rob N.

Yelp
Decent bar food that is very overpriced. And the staff is notoriously rude.

Sunny F.

Yelp
I like this place. I like the history and the location and, although I am not one of the locals and do not feel embraced when I walk in, I like the crew from a distance. The staff is a staff, not my family and not my friends. The dumplings and goulash dish is good and customers need to know there are two parts to the menu: authentic and "deli" (prepacked). I prefer the authentic.

Monica H.

Yelp
HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! Went on their folk night and they were busy. Got menus from the bar and got a table. After waiting 30 min without someone coming over I smile at the waitress and give a signal that were ready to order. After another 30 min of waiting I finally go up to the bar and place the order. It then takes another hour to get our food! After 45 min of waiting I go ask the bartender when our order would be ready and he says nothing but walks over to my ticket and says I'm going to work on it next, and then says "drinks come before food honey and we had a sick waitress walk out". I've worked in the food business so I understand being slammed and said thanks and walked back to my table. He then comes to the table and says "did you want the sick girl to make your food?", I didn't answer him because I thought he was being sarcastic but he taps me on the shoulder and repeats "did you want the sick girl to make your food?"!!!! I said no and he then asked if i even wanted to him to make it now. I said yes because we were there to see a friend play and I was still hungry. Such an ***hole!!! Never going back!

Kathy B.

Yelp
The food was good after you finally got it, but the service is long and the owner/bar tender is extremely rude. We had gotten "Buy It For Half" coupons and he obviously didn't like them. There was another couple and us that had them. We sat at the "same table" not knowing until we tried to pay that we couldn't both sit at the same table and both use our coupons, so we used ours and the other couple was unable to use their's. We came back again a week later because we both had a coupon to get rid of and we sat at one table the other couple sat at another table. Doesn't make sense to tie up 2 tables, but we played by their rules. Again, the food was good after we finally got it, but service was long. Will we go back, absolutely not...there are a lot better place out there to eat rather than somelace like that. Would I recommend it, no, just too unfriendly an atmosphere and too long for service.
