Wayfinder Newport Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"Despite its name, the on-site restaurant is anything but little in fare and portion sizes: you’ll hear a buzzing atmosphere before you even step in, with many tables ready for big groups, booths for families, and a bar pouring Rhody beers on tap. I’d recommend it for dining at every meal—the better to taste the various menus—and don’t miss the under-sold pancake, which impressed me with its griddle-quality, cornbread-flour consistency, and lemon zest. For a hearty dinner, start with Narragansett fresh oysters straight from the nearest bay or go all-in on the shellfish tower if you’re not shellfish shy, then dive into a hot honey chicken sandwich, and complement the briny or meat-focused dishes with a Drift Theory mezcal-pisco cocktail or an on-tap Espresso Martini made with local favorite Nitro coffee topped with cinnamon. It’s helmed by an upcoming Hell’s Kitchen chef and runs an all-day menu." - Kyra Shapurji

Went for brunch and overall the experience was very good. Everyone I was with enjoyed their food. I think I enjoyed it the least, and not because it wasn’t good, it’s that it was a little different than what I expected. I ordered biscuits with sausage gravy and I’m used to the traditional big fluffy biscuits with the thick, creamy, white sausage gravy. What I got was very different. It was still a good plate of food but I would likely try something different next time (and I will certainly go again). The drinks….coffee was ok, Bloody Mary’s were very good, mimosas good as well. The “fresh” OJ was probably Tropicana, or something similar. I would have liked a fresh squeezed option, seeing as how the mimosa says that it contains just such an item. The French toast was very good. Service was very good. We had a new waitress but she was fantastic. Definitely worth a try. I have a child who attends Salve Regina so I’ll be staying at the Wayfinder often and plan to eat here many more times. If you are in the area, give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Had the best dinner at Little Clam. Chef Antonio is incredibly talented and the food was fantastic. I went wild on the specials and they were all super fresh and inventive. The locally caught tuna was phenomenal. The cocktails were also amazing. Everything was made in house and truly unique. Don’t skip dessert! The sticky toffee pudding was insane. Highly recommend Little Clam!

This meal was incredible. We were seriously flabbergasted since we just happened to stay in the attached hotel. The beef tartare was excellent, but what blew us away was the "whole fish" which turned out to be a journey across southeast Asian flavors. It's a whole platter where you make lettuce hand rolls with the tender, flavorful fish (fresh local sea bass tonight), sushi rice, and at least half a dozen delicious add-ins and sauces. So many flavors yet each one perfectly done and nothing out of place. Even a fun and interesting experience beyond the flavors. Just YES.

Came here last weekend a few times while we stayed at the hotel. The drinks and food were impeccable. The beef tartare was served in bone marrow and it was one of the best I’ve had. The breakfast was also delightful - the home fries were so perfectly crisped, I could eat them daily. The non alcoholic beverages were also truly amazing - the summer wind was my favorite! The staff was the cherry on top of everything. They were very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The manager even made a point to accommodate and make our experience a good one. Overall, great service, drinks, and food. Will definitely be back!!

Absolutely awful establishment. Rude staff, from the waitress to chef to manager. Items were missing in our order. They were incredibly slow, and after we were told we couldn’t sit where we wanted to in an empty restaurant, I ordered an egg & avocado that came with CHILLI PEPPER ALL OVER IT. I have an ALLERGY TO CAPSAICIN AND THEY PUT CAPSAICIN all over my food. And then reprimanded ME for having an allergy. They took FOREVER to replace The egg and avocado and threw off the timing of my entire birthday weekend. We waited a total of one hour for to go food!!!!! Do not eat here!!! Finally, the egg they re made me was RAW and inedible and didn’t feel safe to eat. I will never ever come back here, this is one of the worst restaurants in Rhode Island. By the time they finished making me another inedible egg, the French toast I had waiting was freezing and I just threw it out. Happy birthday to me.

While staying at the WayFinder hotel, we were happy to be able to try this gem of a restaurant just 1 month after they opened! We came here for Breakfast and Dinner (the night before). Here are the items we ordered (as of 7/2025) starting from breakfast items: - Avocado Toast -$14 - Good flavor and a large amount of avocados. If you like avocado toast then definitely give this one a go. - Pancakes - $14 - I would pass on this one. It seems to be cornbread based and while it was fluffy and tender, I'd prefer the texture of a more typical pancake. Also since you get only 1 pancake, the value isn't there. - Farmhouse Special ($12 plus $4 for a side of sausage). Hashbrowns and sausage were delicious (big props to the sausage!). Eggs were cooked as requested. The jam also paired nicely with the brioche toast. Dinner items below: - Baby Back Rib Special - $19 - Tender ribs and the gochujang sauce paired quite well with this dish. Decent quantity. - Salt and Pepper Squid - $17 - Extremely fresh and a must have if you like calamari! This was a favorite. - Beef Tartare - $21 - This was a delicious dish. The bone marrow it comes with is fatty with great beefy flavor and pairs well with the beef tartare and toast points it comes with. - Oyster Po'Boy - $17 - Great oysters but we were surprised it came as 3 sliders. Quantity was okay. Overall for a hotel restaurant this place was great. Unfortunately we weren't able to return to try their burgers which we were told was delicious. Next time!

Yelp
What a gem. The food is delicious and kudos to the chef for such a creative menu. The flavors amazing. Everything I tried was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Definitely try the roasted pork belly & smashed cucumber salad . Though the menu is limited they do offer several specials both in appetizers & meals. For my meal I ordered the gulf shrimp & sweet corn chowder and it was delicious. You could tell it was made with fresh sweet corn. They try to use local fresh and local ingredients in season. A nice environment & restaurant off the beaten track of downtown Newport and definitely worth the trip. I will definitely be going back.

Yelp
This review is for breakfast while staying at the hotel. It's a really tiny menu so options are limited. I just had the yogurt parfait which was really tasty with fresh fruit. It said it had granola but it was really just dry oats. Mom ordered eggs with potatoes and the potatoes were super tasty. Service was fine, not amazing. The iced tea had a weird aftertaste - maybe it was the ice cubes? Decor is super cute.

Yelp
Shocked at how amazing this restaurant is! We have eaten a lot of great meals in Newport...hell a lot of great meals in NYC, Boston, and other big cities. I thought I was having a low key, dinner at the hotel restaurant. instead what I got was a dining experience that rivals top restaurants. The cocktails were top notch. The food was a taste bud experience. Perfect. So happy with this experience!

Yelp
What can I say, it was a hotel restaurant. The breakfast was basic, the menu was very small to choose from (I believe 6 items) the coffee was not very good my son got the pancake, when it came out it looked beautiful and fluffy but sadly it was very dry and a corn bread based pancake, I wish they stated that on the menu. I got the traditional breakfast plate, the potatoes were surprisingly amazing, and well, it's hard to screw up egg beaters and toast. If you don't feel like beating the hustle and bustle of down town it's worth to try but other than that definitely not worth the price. The waitress was unfriendly and never checked on us our entire meal. We were also held hostage as we waited for our check. It's a cute idea but definitely needs to be executed better.

Yelp
The food is delicious; the menu is inspired and fresh and we wanted to try it all... the smashed cucumber salad was amazing as was the whole roasted fish with 3 different sauces, pickled veg, kimchi, nori and lettuce cups. I can't stop thinking about it! The chefs here are 5*, the service was prompt and attentive and friendly... Cocktail order taken right away as water is offered. the vibe is spacious and relaxed. Our new favorite!

Yelp
The pancake was HORRIBLE! Take the worst pancake you could ever imagine and then TRIPLE IT!

Yelp
Best food in Newport! The whole fish was amazing as was the beef tartare. If you like calamari, then it is a must try. Don't skip dessert, the sticky toffee is by far the best we have ever had. Can't wait to come back.
