Quirky retreats in the heart of the Canberra countryside - SilverKris

"A sustainably built tiny house on wheels sited on a vineyard ridge, offering ingeniously compact living with convertible furniture, a small kitchen and a couch that becomes a double bed. The off-grid design includes a composting toilet and plans for solar power, and guests receive books, games and a telescope for star-gazing. The property allows visitors to explore over 100 hectares of grounds, enjoy dramatic sunrises over a dry lake basin and experience peaceful rural isolation within easy driving distance of the city." - Jill Hogan

Google
Great food and big portions! Very reasonably priced for the size of each meal. Service was great! Went on a weekday and had no wait.

Google
Great food, good portions great service and good price! This is the best place for breakfast in Westfield. Hands down. It's a local legend and deservedly so. It can be a wait for a table, but it's well worth it. I highly recommend Little George's!

Jessica M.

Google
Little George's aka the Home Of The Ham is a charming little breakfast spot. I am a local and this is my favorite. They're specials or fabulous, the wait staff are friendy, and the prices are good. The food comes out fast. You can frequently see the owner and his family working and managing the restaurant and asking the customers how they like new food items or the upgrades to the building. They have plenty of parking and, as the title implies, lots of pig themed decor. If you're looking for a good breakfast spot I would highly recommend!

Google
Food was really good.I was there a few weeks ago the breakfast is awesome

Google
This is a really cool diner. It's always packed with people but that's a good sign, that means it's worth it! And we never have to really wait even when its FULL.They work hard to get people in and out of there very quickly. As soon as someone walks out, the tables are swept instantly and they get you right in!

Google
My mom and I went here because the reviews rated it so high and we decided to check it out. I have been to a couple of diners before but this breakfast was one of the best I ever had in a long time. I had the cheese omelet with hash browns and my mom had the ham and scrambled eggs. The portion size for what you pay for is very affordable. If you love breakfast, I highly recommend this place.

Google
Love me a tasty diner!! Was busy catching up with a friend and forgot to snap some pics of our stuff and the menu. Super affordable and quality, fresh, homemade food. Go!!

Google
Many years ago my husband and I visited this restaurant and after being seated for over 20 minutes and not waited on we left. Today my husband suggested eating breakfast here. There was a wait for a booth and I asked how long? The response was you’re next, no one ahead of you. After 10-15 minutes the booth was given to another couple who had just arrived. The lies that followed after I spoke up left me with the same feeling of many years ago, so we left. The only difference with the couple is they were white, my husband is black and many years ago we experienced the same prejudice. I would never recommend this place and will never go back as no food or price is worth the humiliation.

Yelp
Now that's a fish sandwich. Nice light batter to complement the fish. House made cup of chowder or French fries included. Friendly staff and always clean comfortable atmosphere.

Yelp
Seems popular for a reason! Super packed but it's quality food and big portions. Affordable too! First time here. Satisfied.

Yelp
Had breakfast here with my husband and his friend. Nice little hole in the wall type of place. Wait wasn't long. Staff is friendly and funny. Food was good, typical eggs sausage, toast. Pancake was huge though, bigger than what I expected.

Yelp
I heard about this place from friend, Demanding Dan, a few weeks ago. We stopped in this morning, maiden journey for each of us. Located on Westfield St, it's a standalone business w plenty of parking. Lots of vehicles on a Monday morning; always a good sign. Upon entering, we were immediately seized by the "homeyness" - lots of old metal signs and schmatz on the walls and shelves. We sat at a small table (rookie mistake) under the car, and were caffeinated/juiced by our very capable server, Angie. Lots of interesting specials and off-the-menu choices. DD opted for sausage biscuits and gravy w two eggs over. Since the CBH was not home-made, I choose a menu special w 2 eggs (over medium), kielbasa, hash browns ($1 upcharge), and rye toast. Neither DD nor I could believe the amount of food we got. My eggs were perfect, the kielbasa was Janik patties (my favorite local brand), and the rye toast was also perfect. DD could not finish all the biscuits and gravy, but said it was very good. Prices more than reasonable. Paying with cash saved a little bit (see the bill). Overall, we both enjoyed the ambience / decor, service, and food. Four stars!

Carmen B.

Yelp
The food was OK. I didn't ask for my potatoes to be at all crispy and they were more like burnt. That's OK other than that. Everything else was pretty good with and so was the Mimosas.

Yelp
Food & drinks were very good. The service was quick & on point. Very nice place .. will definitely recommend.

Yelp
I had breakfast there with my lovely girlfriend and the food blew me away. Everyone was so friendly and the owner even kept checking on us. The atmosphere was busy and lively. I highly recommend trying their breakfast dishes.

Andy B.

Yelp
In my estimation this is the best breakfast place around. In all our visits we've always gotten great food and plenty of it. The service is fast and the servers are friendly. The prices are very reasonable and the restaurant is clean. THANK YOU.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is amazing the service is great!! Welcomed at the door with a smile. The owner truely cares about his business. The ladies that work there are so friendly and make you feel like family. There is a super nice gentleman who cleans the tables that is alway has the nicest smile and warmest welcome! 10000% recommend try the ham it's delicious and the pancakes are huge. Also I die for their had browns!!

Eric B.

Yelp
unpretentious friendly and good food at a great price! recommended for lunch. many specials on the menu board.

Yelp
Spectacular Breakfast for so cheap! I dont normally make yelp reviews but this just made me do it! Exceptional speed from the server & The kitchen
google avatar

Cindy B.

Yelp
I love this place....food and customer service is always great. I wish they would create a space where they can seat larger tables...it is very uncomfortable if you have a party larger than 4.

Connor S.

Yelp
The best breakfast ever. GET THE HAM. It huuuuge. Coffee is also good. Feels like a diner of a time gone by instant nostalgia.
google avatar

Edna L.

Yelp
I have been driving by this place for 25 years and the parking lot is always full of cars and now I know why. My breakfast came with their famous ham, melts in your mouth and plentiful. The restaurant is crowded but moves along quickly. Very casual and patrons were pleasant to speak with. Be careful when ordering that you know what comes with your breakfast, it could turn into an add on.
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
This place is famous for their ham and it lives up to its name. Isn't chewy and melts in your mouth when you eat it. Little George's off large portions and sometimes I cannot finish it! The only complaint I have is the how the hash browns is a little oily. Other than that, I recommend! It gets pretty busy at Little George's so I recommend to be prepare for at least a 15-20 minute wait.

Yelp
Muy buena comida y muy buenos precios la amabilidad de cada personal se siente en familia

Yelp
This place...OMG! From the outside, you wouldn't expect much. But once you walk in, you are transported back in time. This is truly an old school diner. The staff are incredibly attentive without making you feel like they're overbearing. The atmosphere is energetic and the decor makes you feel like you're in a diner from the 50s or so (Not that I was alive to experience anything in the 50s...but...c'mon. I've seen movies :-P) I ordered a grilled ham & cheese and my co-worker ordered a tuna sandwich. I also ordered an iced tea. In total, I think the bill was $14.00. Are you kidding me? SO CHEAP! And let me tell you, my grilled ham & cheese was incredible. The ham was first grilled giving it amazing flavor and the amount of meat on the sandwich was awesome. No joke, this place is a MUST if you are in the area.

Katie G.

Yelp
Delicious! Cute breakfast and lunch spot. We had an omelette and cream cheese stuffed French toast. Serving sizes are generous.

Dennis L.

Yelp
Very old run down place. It May be fine if you're in the area and want a breakfast similar to IHOP but I would not go there for snack or lunch because the burger special I ordered had no taste and it was very overcooked the bun was too small for the burger and the fries were very bland and not salted. I would not recommend this place and would rather have spent my money at McDonald's

Yelp
I really enjoy coming here, not necessarily for the food but the service and environment. The food is good, but it's nothing exceptional or tremendously special is all. I usually only come early in the morning and breakfast and just really enjoy how well the staff is on top of refilling coffee's, taking orders, and just starting you day off with a smile. All the waitresses call you honey or something cute like that and I love it. I've come so often that I recognize everyone that works here and they usually remember me also. They treat me and who ever I come with, usually my significant other, my brother & his girlfriend, who they all know really well, very well. I've tried a few different things on their menu and of the things I have tried I like their pancakes, French toast, ham and toast the most. I haven't ever ordered anything else besides coffee but my significant other's OJ was a bit on the watery side and artificially flavored. Over-all I really enjoy coming here when I'm in the area to start my day off right.

Yelp
We have driven by this place and it's always packed with cars. So today my husband took me to lunch there it's not updated but is clean people are friendly and welcoming. We both had their big burger with fries it was so good cooked perfectly to the way a asked, service was excellent and we gad a wonderful first experience we will go back.

Yelp
This place is the shit. Been going here for years and they never disappoint. Right as you walk in and sit down these go hards are in your face with coffee like pro's. The menu is your basic breakfast menu...only the slices of ham are half of a pig, and the pancakes are as big as your wife's tits...as well as most portions being of fucking epic proportions...and you can watch your breakfast come together right in front of your face. The service is on fuckin point, you're in and out in 10-15 minutes, if you're a breakfast hardo. They also do call ahead orders to go so you can pick that shit up and get on with your shitty day. They also do hams, pies, french meat pies, lunch, you fucking name it. Place seats about 60 people. If you think your gonna hit this place on a Weekend morning after 730 and just waltz right in, think again player, this shit will be ass to elbows...but the wait usually isn't to bad if you have a little patience. I would suggest some menu items, but just fuckin shoot, you can miss.

Yelp
Little Georges is a small truck stop diner along Hwy 20 in between Westfield and West Springfield, Massachusetts. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, and inside you'll find a large luncheonette counter and a few small booths for the regulars. The walls are decorated with old photos, newspaper articles, and antique signs. The waitress is quick with a pot of coffee as you sit down, and she'll point out the daily specials on the big wipe-off board. I had their 2-egg breakfast special, cooked to order with your choice of ham, bacon, sausage, or kielbasa along with several options of breakfast potatoes, bread, muffins, or bagels for only $5.75. The breakfast menu has lots of omelets, pancakes, waffles, and French toast specials, along with breakfast sandwiches, and eggs cooked to order. The lunch menu has lots of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, grinders (hoagies), and salads. In addition you'll find full entrees including ham, open-faced sandwiches smothered in gravy, sausages and Kielbasa, spaghetti and Veal Parmesan. This place is known for their ham and pork products, and you'll see lots of ham slices, sausages, and bacon on the menu. If you're in the area of Western Mass, you'll be very happy and very full if you make a point of stopping at Little Georges!

Yelp
I've been here a few times and the food I guess was good. I'm giving it one star because of the traumatic experience I can't quite shake. I received horrifically rude service that only seemed to get worse with each visit. From the waitstaff making rude, pretentious comments as I was ordering, to the cooks staring, pointing, and laughing, (I am assuming this is because the amount of food ordered by my party, I can only guess though.) I left so infuriated during my last visit that I promise to never enter this establishment again and I will continue to warn others of the nightmare service that this place serves up cold. No amount of spectacular pancakes or coffee makes it worth another visit. If you go through their negative reviews you will notice others have had similar experiences.

Yelp
Who doesn't like Greek Diners and Little Georges is a very good Greek Diner. They offer all the traditional diner classics one would expect, some items coming with interesting little variations on a theme. The service is outstanding, very friendly, and the waitresses tag team customers and are on the top of their game. The food is solid, the prices are very reasonable, the quality, service and speed at which items leave the kitchen make this a diner, a great stop for breakfast or lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome little dive-y trucker diner. 6 of us had breakfast for $38 +tip. We were sat right away, cool old art on the walls. The waitress was quick, sweet & helpful. Food came less then 10 minutes after ordering. Huge portions! I had the sausage egg & cheese on a water roll($4.50) delicious!! My little guy had a huge banana pancake that he couldn't finish ($1.80) This place isn't anything fancy but if you're looking for a yummy inexpensive breakfast this is a good stop.. Clean bathrooms too!

Yelp
Okay so I've had breakfast here a few times and it was really good but because it was getting close to lunch today by the time I got here today I figured why not get lunch. That's exactly what I did. I got the fish and chip special and my only negative comment on the fish and chips is that breading on the fish could've used more seasoning. The positives are that the fish cut like butter, it was glistening, and it was moist. It came with fries, coleslaw and tarter sauce. The fries were good but it's pretty hard to mess up french fries. I can't comment on the coleslaw because I didn't eat it and I really have to be in a mood to use tarter sauce with fish. Yea I'm one of those people who only uses tarter sauce very rarely Anyway, after I finished the fish and fries I decided to splurge and get pie a la mode. That chocolate cream pie was amazing. Probably one of the better pies I've had in life. Whoever made it knows how to bake. I really recommend the chocolate cream pie. Unless you're allergic then stay away from the chocolate cream pie. Don't get an allergic reaction. That wouldn't be good. The staff is also friendly and the restaurant is currently dine in and outdoor due to the virus, but you still have to wear masks indoor until you are seated. I highly recommend this place. Now you may drive past it because it is a hole in the wall place but the food is very good So I went again for breakfast today and I got chocolate chip pancakes. Now I'm picky about pancakes. I know I'm weird. But if they too dark I will not eat them. At all. But because I'm moving I took a chance and tried their pancakes. They came and keep in mind I got two and these pancakes took up the whole plate. Yea that's how big they were. Anyway, the first pancake was the color I like but I wasn't sure about the second pancake, since it was dark brown but I took a chance thinking it was just the chocolate chips, after all they were chocolate chip pancakes. The pancakes were amazing! They were almost as good as my mother's. Almost. I did get a tiny burnt flavor in one bite but overall it was the flavors you would expect from chocolate chip pancakes. I would highly recommend the chocolate chip pancakes but my my advice is to start with one or two.

Yelp
My father and i went too little george's for fast dinging. My father and i went into the restaurant and got seats fast. The waiter was nice and welcomed us both the waitress ordered our meals and drinks and got our drinks in seconds and our food was cooked and served right in front of us in less then 6 minutes. I got pasta and meatballs it was the perfect amount of sweet and the texture felt like they would just slide down my throat. The meatballs were easy to cut and bite into and very flavor filled and filling. The toasted baggel i had i got to put the cream cheese on myself and it was warm looked golden brown it was crunchy and had a hot taste but not burning taste, it smelt like french toast and felt soft in my hands. The place was small but was very clean. The cooks truck up conversation with you. the place's bathrooms were clean and the whole place fely welcoming. I would recommend this place for the great food and low price.

Yelp
We loved this place for the first time! Hidden gem of Western MA!! Should be featured on Diners Drive Ins and Dives! Attentive service with owner walking around to ensure everything was good. Big plates and decent prices. We will return!
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
Stopped here for breakfast. I needed coffee desperately and remembered this place's breakfasts from years ago. I ordered the two egg special with home fries, hash, and toast. The plate had a definite wow factor when served. The portions of home fries & hash were huge ! A great value for the price, I could not finish the entire plate & I have a huge appetite. Homey, small, & quaint old school diner. Highly recommended !
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Best ham anywhere. Very good portions. Wife and I went there for breakfast then for lunch separate times of course we will always return for the quality service friendly people it's also close by where we live. I would've given it a five star except for the fact that the owner doesn't take criticism very well. I do not recommend the bread pudding. Other than that the Restaurant does very well.

Nate R.

Yelp
Little George's is my favorite place to have breakfast. Every time I go with my grandpa we have a great experience, that's why we go back all the time. The place is small but it has an old cozy feeling, also it's kid friendly. When we got there we sat at a booth and the waitress that we knew from going there took our order which was a chocolate pancake, hash browns, chocolate milk and orange juice, a blueberry pancake and a coffee. The pancakes are thick and they're not skimpy on the chocolate chips and blueberries, that was the best part because the chocolate chips were melted and gooey. The hash browns were crunchy just like I asked, they were scrumptious. I would definitely recommend going to this place. I had a wonderful experience and hope you do too.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
I love this place for a quick breakfast. Food comes out quick and cooked perfectly. Never had to send anything back. The waitresses are great except Linda tends to hover over your table and food. She is chatty and loud and it can be quite intrusive while you're trying to relax and eat. While she is chatting with customers other wait staff are running around refilling coffee cups and delivering food orders. If you can get to this place on the weekend order the breakfast special. It's a good price for what you get.
google avatar

Steven P.

Yelp
They put the smile in service. Super friendly and attentive staff here. The kitchen is wicked fast. The hash browns is an excellent and hard to come by option. The meat lovers omelet is served pillow style and chock full of quality meat. The ham in particular is very good. The ambiance is very cool 60's. Go early, as this place fills up quickly. Use Google maps to get live updates.

Yelp
We came here to visit some friends and I must say Fantastic breakfast spot! You can't go wrong here! The best home made style breakfast I've had on the road! I had the egg Benedict and it was amazingly good. The portion was also huge! I couldn't finish it. The wait wasn't long even though it was a Saturday morning and seemed like it was a peak time. Waiter was friendly and everything went nice and I can't complain! Would be back here for sure!

Luis L.

Yelp
We love this place...been coming here a few years ...but I gotta say the cooks not wearing their masks is alarming ....I get it , it gets hot in that kitchen and it must suck but safety is safety ...last three times we've come here cooks were in there with the masks down by their necks ..mouth and nose exposed while they handled everyone's food ...we even complained once and they got pretty upset . Again we love this place but the mask thing has to be enforced
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Gus the owner is first rate. I will definitely be back as this place rocks!
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
Best biscuits and gravy around! The ham slices are thick and delicious. Everything priced fairly and lower than most restaurants around. The portions are huge so if it's too big, ask for the half order, they always have one.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
I like this restaurant but their response to Covid needs tweaking. People working by the grill weren't wearing masks. Some were but only covering their mouths. Hope they will reinforce with staff the need to wear masks. Don't think I'll return until this passes. Made us too nervous.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
The ham is excellent. The omelette are great and coffee is hot. From the outside looks big. Step inside and it is small tight seating atmosphere. The bar is fun to sit at. Staff is friendly and always smiling.
google avatar

Maya A.

Yelp
Totally love real diners like this! We ordered our food to go after we finished a family hike. Totally worth it! I got strawberry and banana waffles, cranberry walnut muffin grilled with butter, and corned beef hash. My son got grilled cheese and fries. The hubby got a meatball grinder and chips. Everyone throughly enjoyed their food. I have to say, the corned beef hash wasn't great. But everything else was awesome! So I won't fault them for that. It was cool watching them cook all the food. My son enjoyed watching them cook. I swear, our mouths were watering watching them flip pounds of bacon! We will have to come here and eat in next time. I bet it's better than a to-go bag. Too bad we had the dog waiting in the car. Next time, it's a must. I totally recommend this place.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
I have to say I used to like going here but lately the food has been declining on taste and quantity. Today was the last try parking wasn't to bad so went in one couple ahead of us and a few spots open at the counter. Told the hostess we didn't want a counter seat. After about 5 minutes the couple ahead of us was was seated as they were cleaning off the next table a couple comes in and the hostess right in front of us seats them at the table! Then turns to us and says did you want that one. I mean really are you kidding me that is just unfathomable to me. So now we are enjoying a great breakfast at Memo's I'll drive a few more minutes from now on.
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant with good food great waitresses and the owners are nice and come by asking if everything is alright. Ordered and omelet with hash browns, rye toast and coffee. Everything was great and was pleasantly surprised at how good the coffee was. Will definitely be returning. Easy in and easy out of the big parking lot too.
google avatar

G. O.

Yelp
The food is decent, but good luck on a weekend morning. It's a nuthouse, with long lines and over-crowding. It gets really dirty and messy when it's busy. Noisy, too. I would stick to the weekday mornings for this one.
google avatar

Kassy W.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this place! It is such a cute little diner! The food is great and the prices are even better! Pancakes are ordered individually because they are so huge! One of them covers the whole plate and is only like $2.00! The ham is an absolute must when you go here! This place is a great place to go for breakfast or lunch and I would recommend it to anyone!

Kayla W.

Yelp
The food is amazing and for a great price too! the staff is funny and very attentive to their customers and all of our orders came out very fast. i highly recommend stopping here for breakfast or lunch! they have a ton of choices!

Shaun M.

Yelp
Classic dinner and breakfast is amazing. Love the big piece of ham and huge chocolate chip pancakes. My favorite breakfast place around.

P D.

Yelp
Sometimes on the menu if not sold out, Cinnabon pancake. So good you'll want to eat more than one but don't forget George's pancakes are larger than most restaurants! Go ahead, see if you can eat two. Thank you, Jesse, for introducing this. Yum!
