On the Grid : The Smallest Hotel in Frankfurt

"It's not actually a hotel per definition but it features a bed and a table. And it is free to stay there for the night! Built by the artist Andrea Büttner in the belltower of the Weißfrauenkirche, the ca. 10 square meter room in the second floor is a very special place to be. Kind of like a birds nest you look down on the hectic street. It is used mainly by journalists and artist. You have access to the toilet and tea kitchen in the church. If you are interested in staying there your contact is curator Thomas Kober (+49 69 247 51 49 69 09 / diakoniekirche@diakonischeswerk-frankfurt.de)" - Dreimorgen

I was shocked to find a hotel like this in downtown Frankfurt. The room was extremely dirty and smelled strongly of cigarettes, even though it was supposed to be a non smoking room. The area was quite loud, especially with the bus stop right outside, and I didn’t feel comfortable staying there definitely not ideal for solo travelers. I do not recommend this hotel.

This is not a 3* hotel!!! Can hear people using the stairs all night long and yelling in the hallways! The room smells like cigarette smoke all night, all the towels have holes in them, bathroom is disgusting, pulled the bed out and found bugs crawling around!!!

Room and bathroom have seen better times long time ago. Stains and smudges everywhere. No hook to hang your towel. The ceiling flap keeps opening.. The worst were two first nights (I spent there 4 nights) when noise from the courtyard (window has to be open due to no air-conditioning) and corridor (noisy neighbours coming at 2am from some party having argument) interrupted my sleep despite earplugs). It means that room has bad sound isolation. Positive: - friendly staff - beds were rather clean and nothing bit me.

"Little Paris" wasn't a small mouse, which was what really mattered: there were several rats in the room, the rooms smelled bad, and the cleaning was very poor.

Great value for a night stay! The bedding is great and tidy but then you may find water marks on the floor and ceiling. Washrooms are good but the repair works are pending as the investment is low. It is a comfortable stay for the price paid.

If you plan on staying here, take my advice and don’t. The rooms are dirty and small and the bathrooms even dirtier.

The Indian receptionist was extremely unreasonable. We booked a double room for me and my gf but accidentally only add my name (cuz the price is the same for one and two ppl), and he asked for €15 fees for this, when I said OK, he suddenly asked for €30😅, almost the price of our room. His attitude was so offensive too. Absolutely do not recommend. Manager should fire this employee asap!

Pros: - Cheap price with Agoda discount - location is very near FF hbf Cons: - Unsafe: the hallway is full of weed smell. Okay Germany has just approved using weed publicly, but inside hotel? That’s ridiculous. - Starting from around 10-11pm until 2-3am, there was a lot of people walking, knocking on the door of next room(s), speaking or yelling very loudly. I even heard someone yelled or mourned like being injured. I and my friend were really scared that we had to use chair and luggage to lock the door room. - Near FF hbf may be convenient to travel but very unsafe as I saw drug dealers trading publicly on the street. And the streets nearby was not cleaned so generally it made my view about FF worse. - the bathroom has strong smell of smoking even though I ordered non smoking room. - there was no smoking detector (which was removed as I saw from the ceiling mark). Facilities are very modest so nothing to praise or complain specifically. I will never go back this hotel anymore. I slept 2 nights with the afraid of someone entering my room and that’s too much. - Note: no phone to contact receptionist so I did not dare to go outside hallway during night and complain. - Receptionist charged me 8 eur extra (2 eur per person per night) according to FF state tax. I was not informed about that from Agoda or the hotel before arriving.
