We went on a Saturday around 6:30 pm. There were two of us, and my friend had already made a reservation. The restaurant wasn’t even full when I arrived. There’s a main dining area downstairs, a small patio, and a lounge/bar upstairs.
Even though we had a reservation, I was first shown this odd bar-height table right in the middle of the main dining area. After going back and forth with two different staff members, I was told we could have another table but only for a limited time, or sit upstairs in the bar/lounge area. The upstairs space honestly looked more like an opium lounge in Amsterdam’s red-light district than a place to have dinner. Eventually, they gave us a table on the patio — but again, only for a limited time. Not exactly the best first impression.
We ordered two non-alcoholic drinks. They looked really nice at first, and the first few sips were great, but a few minutes later they just tasted like water. They used way too many small ice cubes that melted super fast. I don’t get why they wouldn’t use bigger ice cubes, especially for cocktails.
This place serves Indonesian food. The menu is short but has a few good-looking options. We ordered nasi goreng, ayam panggang (grilled chicken), and udang kari (shrimp curry). The nasi goreng tasted almost authentic, but it didn’t come with the usual fried egg on top. The ayam panggang was just okay — it came with a sauce so you can’t really tell if it was actually grilled. The udang kari was the best of the three. The spice level between dishes was all over the place though — no consistency.
Service was fine. The food came out super fast, which makes me think it was probably reheated and not cooked to order.
Overall, I’d give it a 5 out of 10. I wasn’t impressed with how they handled our reservation or the seating situation. There really needs to be better communication. I don’t understand why restaurants have these awkward tables that no one wants and still expect people to just accept them.
