The 14 Best Things to Do in Charlotte

"Little Sugar Creek Greenway, a network of trails, paved paths, parks, and streams, consists of four downstream sections in and around Charlotte. When it's complete, it will be 19 miles long, and will run all the way down to the South Carolina state line. It runs from Cordelia Park to just north of Uptown, and it's a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. (As is Crowders Mountain State Park, further down this list.) This greenway is designed for walkers, runners, bikers, and stroller-pushing parents, but there are benches for those who want to sit and take in the view—and people-watch." - Nancy DePalma

It's truly incredible to have a nature trail that runs directly under and through an entire city. You might expect to see polluted waters or scattered trash, but instead, it's remarkably well-maintained. Every few steps reveals something new: a statue, an information board, a scenic overlook. Each one is worth pausing to admire. I highly recommend it for everyone, whether you're walking with a stroller, riding a bike, or bringing your dog along. It's clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully cared for.

Google
This review refers to the Greenway section next to the Atrium healthcare. This last puzzle of the greenway has been under construction for a couple of years finally opened last month. You hear the birds chirping and the life going on at different pace while you are surrounded by greenery and gentle flowing creek. There are construction workers going over the bridges and people biking along the pathway. You will see the massive expansion of Atrium healthcare under construction. After a while, you do not get any sense of being in the center of the city as the traffic dies down. The sounds and sites of urban Charlotte fadeaway as you walk past the Atrium Health medical center and enter the freedom park area. Overall it is a great natural asset accessible for all of uptown and neighborhoods.

I went in the mid afternoon, and it was not busy. The trail is paved and there are not a ton of views along the way, but there are some really pretty flowers, the creek is nice, And I think there were some basketball and or tennis courts and playgrounds nearby.

Google
This is a wonderful hike running from Cordelia Park right up to i-485, essentially traversing the city of Charlotte. What’s wonderful is that you can choose to hike a part of it with multiple entrances(and parking is available at those entrances) and still be rewarded for the spectacular views of the Queen City. We did the part of the hike near Metropolitan avenue in uptown Charlotte on a precariously sunny Saturday morning. This section of the hike begins near Metropolitan avenue, and some street parking is available near the entrance. The hike itself is quite easy, and along the hike you’ll find various plants, statues of people who contributed to the growth of Charlotte and also about the sculptors who designed those statues. It was quite intriguing to know about Charlotte’s history. The Little Sugar Creek runs alongside the trail and is a nice companion on the hike. It was good to read about the preservation efforts ongoing for the creatures in the creek. It’s a well-maintained trail and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a hike or a run or a bike ride in Charlotte.

Google
Really cool but a little difficult to find just make sure you go down if you’re driving from the street - seems like a lot of the pathways are underneath, but overall seems like a good stretch of land and it’s well kept.

Google
My family and I enjoy walking the greenway. It’s great exercise in a safe, outdoor environment. The scenery is beautiful and the area is very well-maintained.

Google
We bought a couple Velotric e-bikes and searched for a fun place to ride in Charlotte, Little Sugar creek allows us to go from the beginning trail head right into the City of Charlotte. The bike trails are all smooth pavement, from one end and into the city round trip is 36 miles, so much exploring and fun. Highly recommend

Google
Little Sugar Creek Greenway is a great spot for a walk or run. There are multiple entry points if you are coming from the Charlotte Uptown area. It's a little scenic walkway along a creek, and the best part for me was there was ample tree cover and shade throughout a ~2 mile stretch of the path (which was extremely necessary for a run in Charlotte's midday summer heat). Fun little pathway to explore and get out of the city for a bit.

Yelp
Don't let the name fool you. There is nothing little about Little Sugar Creek Greenway. When completed this meandering trail will extend 19 miles connecting several sections of the city and retailers from north of Uptown all the way to the South Carolina border. I live near the Brandywine Road part of the Greenway. I simply walk out my condo door and presto! I'm there. It's a quiet, leisurely stroll with joggers, kids in strollers, while others are biking or walking their dogs. Wonderful. Feeling the allure of nature even within an urban setting? Pegs the needle to "10" on my "Give 'em a whirl" meter. Relax here.

Yelp
I knew a section of the greenway was closed but was curious if repairs had wrapped up by now. Greenway is still closed between Morehead St (at the edge of midtown) and Freedom Park..... Signage mentioned closure until Spring 2024. Detour brings you down Kings Dr instead, and reconnects to the paths at Freedom Park near tennis courts.

Yelp
Nearly 20 miles of trails and connectors, extending from the Toby Creek Greenway to Cordelia Park. The park is paved and smooth and amazingly scenic. The parks through the NoDa neighborhood follow some high tension lines. Asphalt and concrete along the way and there are a few spots where you will be crossing a street but it's all well marked. I had a lovely walk today and everyone I passed nicely maintained their social distancing. [Review 13125 overall, 442 of 2020.]

Yelp
Little Sugar Creek Greenway is near uptown Charlotte, this is an amazing place if you love to run, walk, and enjoy large open green spaces. The Little Sugar Creek Greenway is a mile-long paved trail that provides a safe location to walk in. The trail takes you past several gorgeous sections of the creek, particularly near Freedom Park which is my favorite park in Charlotte. This greenway doesn't have much in the means of entertainment but it is a wonderful opportunity to get some fresh air. It also stretches beyond the city area, providing easy access to nearby businesses. As a side note, the trail can be a little challenging with only a few severe climbs. The Greenway appears to be wheelchair accessible because there are some ramps to get on and off the trail. This Greenway is also a great place to bring your children to lounge, picnic, play or just get away from the everyday grind of Charlotte. I highly recommend checking out this well-maintained green space in uptown Charlotte. Enjoy!

Yelp
This is probably my favorite greenway in Charlotte (along with many others). Previously, I've biked from Freedom Park to Elizabeth. It's a long greenway--there are a couple of awkward spots where it breaks but it goes a lot longer than that. Last weekend we were getting takeout in Midtown and decided to walk the greenway for a bit before along Kings Drive. Usually the greenway is crowded. It wasn't too bad when we were there. It was a little more crowded than I would have liked, but we mostly managed to avoid people. If you haven't checked out this beautiful greenway, it's definitely worth it!

Yelp
Love it! Fantastic place to ride. So well-kept! Lots of pleasant shade, beautiful scenery. And plenty of trail to keep you riding for a few hours. Charlotte is so lucky to have Little Sugar Creek Greenway, and it makes me so jealous. I wish I had such a beautiful bike path closer to home. This bike path alone is enough to draw me back to Charlotte again! I was so engrossed in riding and enjoying the scenery, I forgot to take pictures. Only got a couple.

Yelp
Love this greenway! It's great for walking or running, and it offers a variety of different types of scenery (skyline views, creekside parts, and goes all the way into Freedom Park). I especially love attending the annual Kings Drive Art Walk on Little Sugar Creek Greenway - it's awesome!

Yelp
I walked this greenway while getting my tennis racket restrung. It was not planned, which is always best. Glad I got to go on an unexpected one-hour adventure. I'm not sure of the distance for this greenway, but I was told by someone at the tennis shop that it will go around the entire city of Charlotte once complete. If this is true, it's likely I will attempt it in one shot and write about it. Would be fun. From what I got to see, definitely recommended. It's a perfect mix of city and nature, and from what I could tell, it's safe. I wouldn't recommended it at night, though. The freaks come out at night.

Yelp
A great greenway close to a lot of apartments uptown and Noda. It was getting busy as we walked through. Loved to see everyone enjoying the beautiful weather we were having. I don't have a lot to say because we didn't spent the day. I do however plan to go back. Looks like a lot more to check out.

Yelp
It's great that a stream with a path runs through downtown Charlotte, but I wasn't thrilled with the state of repair it was in. There was a fair amount of debris lying around, and one section which ran under the road was flooded despite there being relatively modest rain in the area. The space wasn't quite as well integrated with other parks and walkways as I'd hoped either. But it certainly is a worthwhile way to go, and has potential to be better with a little sprucing up.

Yelp
Little Sugar Creek Greenway, or LSCG for short, is arguably the shiniest jewel in Charlotte's greenspace crown. This greenway, in multiple segments, makes up the longest through some of the most prime spots in the city. If you're an out-of-towner, a day spent walking or bike riding along this greenway will net you some of the best city views and chillest experiences. Especially so if you're traveling on the cheap. At its southern terminus the LSCG begins (or ends?) at the well known Park Road Shopping Center in the Montford area. Plenty to do around here at the beginning or end of your trek. Moving north the paved trail shuffles through a few neighborhood blocks and backyards until you end up at the huge Freedom Park, perhaps one of the most popular in Charlotte and featuring about everything you would expect of a park - and then some. Onward the trail hugs up close to its namesake, the Little Sugar Creek, where you can feast your ears on the sounds of cascading water as you find a walk or ride in the shade. Crossing East boulevard you once again have a litany of shop options just a short jaunt off the trail. Just when you thought it couldn't get better, the trail goes through the most popular section on the edge of Dilworth. Beautifully maintained, this strip of primo landscape design will give you plenty to ogle as you try not to run into anybody. Not to mention shops galore all the way up to The Metropolitan and, most importantly, with grand views of the Charlotte skyline. The city of Charlotte is perpetually beautifying this trail in its current state - I cannot find a qualm with it aside from after a few good days of rain when the lowest areas inevitably get flooded and cut off by the stream. On top of that, there are several additions and extensions currently in the works which may one day leave my review a bit dated. The end game seems to be a cross-city trail for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike. On a visit here, you would be most remiss not to set foot on some part of this path.

Yelp
I really dig this Greenway and I am sure I would a lot of other ones, but parking is not terrible most of the time and if you can catch a great day, what a perfect place to walk, take in Nature and the changing of the city the New Architecture (GOOD AND SOME REALLY bad) of homes being built and the ones that are being torn down. Meet people of all types and head out from behind South Park Shopping Center and go towards Freedom Park and walk around the lake. There are a lot of benches to sit and relax, a lot of water and streams to enjoy the view and the sound of running water. The Hawks in the area, the Free Micro Library and when you finish have lunch or brunch at South Park Shopping Center. My Only Down side that does not subtract for me from the Greenway is the Knowledge Signs posted about the trail itself by the City are in Terrible Condition and I am not sure how that happens. (Broken wIndow Theory should be applied here) So all in all I love this trail and the sights and Sounds of people, young and old partaking in a very pretty treasure here in the Park Road area.

Yelp
Attempting to do my daily walk here at Little Sugar Creek Greenway. Makes jogging, walking, biking, rollerblading, and exercising a special treat. The pathway leads you to Freedom Park. Before you get on your merry way notice the many different types of birds flying above, lucious trees and the smell of Jasmine as well as the pretty flowers in full bloom. It is invigorating going on this trail on a daily basis. Notice the sculpture on the pathway, fountain, and other architectural objects. Little Sugar Creek Greenway is well maintained. Watch out for the Ducks and Geese roaming around.

Yelp
It is resources like this that really make a community great. As a big walker (yes, I'm that person that will walk around you because you're going too slow, sorry not sorry) I'm always looking for new places to wander and I found a gem in the Greenway. As the name indicates, once you step on the path, you're going to be immersed in green. The leaves of the trees almost look explosively green when your breezing along in late May, as I was. Honestly, it is so refreshing to be able to "leave" the urban jungle and just enjoy nature (or at least the closest you can find a two minute drive from residential areas. While the goal to the fight the onslaught of concrete and steel popping up all over Charlotte, the trail offers some conveniences such as a wonderfully paved pathway and easy off-ramps to locales such as the hospital and other parks. As you'd expect, it's hot as all-get-out in the summer, but if you go early enough it'll be a dream. The pathway to suited to all forms of transit: walking, skating, scootering, biking, skipping, leaping, and more! But best of all, it's a chance to interact with your neighbors and immerse yourself in the community all out to enjoy nature and get some light exercise together. This is definitely a Charlotte must-see!

Yelp
Of the 15 various greenways in Charlotte, Little Sugar Creek by far is my favorite. This urban gem twist and turns you through several neighborhoods throughout charlotte; with 4 segments total from Cordelia park to 12th street, east 7th street to Morehead street, Brandywine road and lastly Huntingtowne Farms Park (Dilworth all the way to Noda). The paths are perfectly situated for biking, strolling or running. Along the route are small man-made water falls and fountains that lead into streams only adds to the scenery of this peaceful trail. I'm always surprised by the drastic temperature change that the shaded trees provide along the path during the sweltering summer months; makes for the perfect afternoon activity. The city does a phenomenal job of keeping the Greenway clean and trimmed. In total, probably 6 to 7 miles with plenty of pit stops available most notably freedom park.

Yelp
Urban meets nature in the most respectable way possible. The Little Sugar Creek Greenway is one of the best ways to unwind from the city, while still in the city! The trail is nearly 4 miles long and stretches from CPCC all the way to the Park Road Shopping Center. City planning at it's best here. How do you get here? If you're coming by car, there's actually a nice little parking lot right off Elizabeth near Kings Drive at the beginning of the Midtown side. Alternatively, you can park in the Park Road backlot, or Freedom Park. If you're in Uptown and looking for a quick retreat in Elizabeth Park, just hitch a ride on the FREE CityLYNX streetcar from College St. and exit at the CPCC stop, the park will be right in front of you. I have been several times and have seen people walk, run, and bike the trail. Throughout the trail you can find Freedom Park and all it's amenities, the Charlotte Nature Museum, retail and dining around the Midtown shopping center, and of course plenty to do on the other end at the Park Road Shopping Center. Once you go through Freedom Park, you'll follow signs through the adjacent neighborhood for about a 1/2 mile before it becomes a true greenway again. Take note that while you're in the Freedom Park corridor of the trail, you can either stick to the greenway route, or go through the park itself. There are several clearly marked 'connecting' paths to and from both parts so no worries either way. For walkers and runners alike, it's a nice, level surface the whole way through. For bikers, the majority of the trail is nice and wide to ensure plenty of room. If you get to the Park Rd. side of the trail and decide you don't want to walk the 4 miles back, a quick $8 Uber or Lyft ride can take you to the Woodlawn Light Rail station, and then in about 10 minutes you'll be at the CTC, a couple of blocks from where you started (and all downhill from there, too!). I could walk this everyday if I had the time. Unfortunately, the bills gotta get paid somehow. The occasional moments when I can walk even part of the trail are so relaxing and showcase the skyline in a unique way. Grab your best walking shoes and get strollin'!

Yelp
This is one of the best things to happen to the city of Charlotte. I never had anything like a greenway in my hometown growing up. The greenway runs several miles connecting several Charlotte neighborhoods and parks. It offers a sense of pride and community while giving way to runners, walkers, cyclists, stroller moms, etc. There are streams, trees, pathways, etc. along the various routes. My favorite is the area leading into Freedom Park, which is a great destination in and of itself. Rent one of the many Charlotte B Cycles along the route and trek to Freedom Park for a picnic, or follow the trail to a nice dinner at your favorite spot in the Metropolitan. My reservation for rating the greenway 5 stars stems from two places. I'm a huge fan of the greenway, but I'm not always a fan of the other greenway users. If others were more cognizant of their surroundings, it would be a better place. Look out for cyclists, move over for runners, look up when you're walking (especially with earbuds in your ears), don't litter, etc. The second piece would be the areas that are somewhat industrial. Part of the appeal of the greenway is the greenery. The smokers that step down from the hospital to make it their personal smoking area, and the litter in the streams, make it less attractive. The greenway does continue to improve and there are plans for other extensions. Just keep the greenway green and be polite to others enjoying everything that it has to offer.

Yelp
Access from Dilworth/Freedom Park all the way to the edges of Uptown, Elizabeth, and Plaza. What's not to love? Take a trip via bike or by foot, stop at The Met in Midtown for lunch (I recommend Vivace) stop at one of the green spaces, Midtown Park, or make the short trek back to Freedom Park for a picnic. Love usage this greenway is getting from all of the updates. Seems that there is a big push for more grassy areas and it's paying in more traffic, too. Families teaching kids to ride bikes, group bike rides, runners, walkers, powerwalkers, and even employees using it as a means of avoiding the busier streets. Huge props for the continual upkeep and updates. Close to Midtown Park off the greenway, there's an urban bocce court. What a cool thought Excited to see new things added and what kind of activities/events happen in the coming months.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Probably one of my favorite greenways in Charlotte just because you get the best of both urban and suburban environments while running through here. The greenway goes though Freedom Park so it provides an easy parking, but it looks like they are adding additional parking in the CPCC area (new part of the greenway). One of the cool additions to the greenway is the greenspace near the Met that features a giant mirrored ball. A terrace that I have seen people use for a wedding before, and a safe place to walk (and not have to wait on cars/traffic lights) with their use of tunnels and ramps. I'm excited once the greenway is connected further north and you can do longer runs on it (if training for a longer distance race... half marathon/marathon). Right now you can start on the CPCC end and go all the way over to Brandywine... right behind Park Rd. Shopping Center.... just shy of 3 miles.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
I'm a big fan. Can't wait for the section between Brandywine and Tyvola to open (construction is supposed to start sometime in 2019) along with the section from Huntingtowne Farms to the I-485 (supposed to open mid 2019). You will then be able to walk, run or bike from the I-485 to the I-277 and northward. That's awesome! The only reason i don't give this greenway five stars is the amount of trash, rubbish and invading kudzu that is taking over along this trail in some stretches. For whatever reason the City hasn't dealt with these areas and it looks really messy. My other complaint is the section between East Morehead Street and East Blvd. near the hospital. There are ALWAYS obnoxious, drunk bums down along this stretch of trail yelling obscene stuff to people passing them by. They leave trash everywhere down there and it also stinks when they are around because of how dirty they are. Wish the City PD would chase them off.

Tori H.

Yelp
I absolutely love the Greenways here. LSCG is gorgeous... especially the section by Myers park. It's so well kept and green! It's a wonderful place to stroll around or run. Get ready because they're about to expand the Greenways all over Charlotte....!
google avatar

Russell H.

Yelp
Excellent excursion in an urban setting! A great hike through the city! Lots of interesting stops along the way about the history of the city and the waterway!
google avatar

Darryl L.

Yelp
I've passed by here several dozen times throughout the year and I never had the chance to stop. I was able to do so today and I was awed. I loved the beauty of this place. It was clean and a great addition to the city. I'll have to visit again when I have more time.
google avatar

Barney C.

Yelp
The Little Sugar Creek Greenway is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of living Uptown ... the only problem is everybody knows about it and too often people don't adhere to common sense and awareness of others. Once the weather breaks the greenway get's pretty crowded. Runners, walkers, dog walkers, families, couples, bikers, etc. The path isn't too wide across but some how this fact is lost to some groups who choose to walk or run shoulder to shoulder ... 3 or 4 deep. Not really convenient if you're trying to get past them. Other than that though, the greenway is awesome. You can get a solid 8 mile bike ride in as it stretches from 7th Street in the First Ward all the way down to behind the Park Road shopping center / Montford area. I usually go in the early A.M. to avoid the after-work traffic.
google avatar

Maggie H.

Yelp
What a fantastic paved trail to view the city from a different perspective! I biked through from Villa Heights to Freedom Park and really enjoyed it! You'll pass through some shops, underpasses, and historically important areas (well marked with signs!). I loved the greenery and enjoyed seeing others on the trail too!
google avatar

Diedra L.

Yelp
Often times I like to go to a place with lots of water and lots of greenery. I like that this place is in the city. It's a nice little getaway from the hustle and bustle. A path where you can either walk, jog or ride your bike. Since I'm not a jogger and don't know how to ride a bike I opted to walk. Maybe wear a hat or take an umbrella for the really sunny days cuz there isn't that much shade there but it's still a nice and quiet stroll. I went during the afternoon and enjoyed sitting down listening to the sound of the water rushing. My only gripe is that there isn't any immediate parking that I found. I parked in the shopping center parking lot...on the second floor might I add but I can't complain because it wasn't a long walk at all. I could of kicked myself tho cuz I could of parked in the Wendy's parking lot and that would of been closer lol. Anyway there's plenty of birds to look at and benches to just chill if you so choose. I'm thinking of making this my little secret thinking place!
google avatar

Tran N.

Yelp
Took my friend here to go for a jog. He loved it! It was great however they are doing some construction so there will be a dead end. But you can go up the hill near the hospital deck just to go around it and easily get back on the trail. This trail is 5.9 miles long and on a hot day you will be sweating! But the trees and bridges near the creek gives you a nice good breeze. Along the trails are nice little statues and fountains. In midtown there are also nice restaurants that I've never noticed before. Several times my friend and I wanted to stop at Vivace just to eat but were too sweaty so we kept moving on. If you keep going along the trail you will reach target, BJs, and a soon to be Petco! This was a great restroom break! If you want to go for a jog, you should definitely go here! But beware a lot of people walk/jog/bike here.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
I looooove going to the greenway!!! I walk down from Uptown all the time and pick it up at 4th and Kings/Central. You can walk all the way to Freedom Park. There is parking at certain spots along the greenway if you cant walk to it. The greenway goes right by the Met so you can stop for lunch or a beer and walk the rest of the way to the park. It gets pretty crowded on weekends so be polite and stay to the side. There are spots along the greenway that get covered with the little creek if it has rained a lot so be careful! It also gets a little creepy at night and there are no street lights along certain parts.
google avatar

Faith D.

Yelp
I cannot wait for the Little Sugar Creek Greenway to be complete in South Charlotte! Right now, it extends from the Midtown area (just to the side of Vivace, Dressler's...) and just south of Freedom Park behind the Park Road Shopping Center. It's a great path to run, walk, or ride bikes! It's well made, lit, and I feel completely safe (at least in the daylight). It's a popular spot because there are always people and pets traveling along it's path for fun, leisure, or exercise. There are also trash cans lining the greenway with bags supplied to pick up after your furry companion. Thanks, City Planners for creating a beautiful public space and maintaining and growing it so thoughtfully!
google avatar

Yelp
While working near Chatlotte, I decided to visit this greenway for a walk outdoors. What a gem! There are a number of places you can access the greenway, and there are sections that border restaurants, stores such as Target, etc., and of course there are long stretches of nothing but sidewalk and greenery on both sides. The little stream that runs a long most of the greenway is just that-- little. But it has its resident geese and ducks and some tiny fishes as well. Some sections open into larger arenas where there are benches, swings, fountains. Charlotte sure knew what they were doing when this walking/running/biking path was constructed!
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
My bike and I love the Little Sugar Creek Greenway & Trail. There is plenty of accessible parking so I only have to feel lazy about driving to a bike trail, not frustrated that I can't even get there. The plaza areas are beautiful, with plenty of seating, art, and a choice of stairs or ramps so you never need to walk your ride. The pavement in still well kept and smooth. I love how the trail takes you under the routes to uptown and along the picturesque creek. My one main issue is that the trail goes through a neighborhood right by Freedom Park and that detour is not so well marked. It would be wise to check out the Carolina Thread Trail map before embarking so you know where you are headed. If you do it right, the greenway takes you all the way from CPCC to just behind the Park Road Shopping Center (and back!) and gives you a great slice of nature in the process.

Dawn S.

Yelp
Very pretty and nicely kept up. The only thing I don't like about this greenway is that it's nearly completely in the sun. I like to walk/run 4-8 miles and my favorite greenway so far in McAlpine Creek which has tons of shade and you feel like you're off in the woods at times. McAlpine also has a combination of dirt, Boardwalk and concrete. However, very early morning or late evening Little Sugar Creek is a great place to go during the summer. Cooler seasons anytime of the day. Great views of the city and ends at Freedom Park which is also a nice place to walk/bike/run/scooter. You're never alone on the trail which is nice being in the city. You do see some wild life especially ducks and fish. I believe it's roughly 4 miles give or take from Target to Freedom park and back.
google avatar

Victoria W.

Yelp
Consistent with other reviews, this greenway is 5 stars all the way. Very nice seating area, picnic area, wall cascading water fall, big clock. Has geese in the river, nearby shopping and dining district, very safe and open space. Once section has vines adorned pathway. Where else can you ask for all these perks in a greenway? Best of all, FREE!
google avatar

Annika W.

Yelp
It's a greenway - a place to walk with some nature involved in the middle of a city. So I'm not ever going to give it less than three stars. But it's definitely not my favorite place to walk. For a "green"way, it's a little heavy on the concrete side, wedged in between hospitals and roads and other buildings. It's also very busy with runners, so when I tried to relaxedly wander along the creek, I had to get out of the way literally every 30-60 seconds. It's nice that it connects to Freedom Park, where you can park your car, play some tennis or basketball and explore the park area, but I think I'd much sooner go to one of the many other greenways of Charlotte.

Melanie E.

Yelp
I love that this greenway is easily accessible from several different areas of the city. The paths are smooth and well-kept. There are always plenty of people out on this greenway walking, running, biking, skating...smiling! I like all the different features, sculptures and signs explaining how it used to look. So glad Charlotte opened it up and created a sanctuary for wildlife and people!

Yelp
Fantastic Greenway. I feel safe on this Greenway and it is very clean. This is also a very busy Greenway with lots of walkers, joggers and cyclists. Citizens of Charlotte should be very proud of this wonderful addition to our neighborhoods.

Yelp
We just LOVE the greenway. Favorite section is from Midtown Park (the big reflective ball) to Freedom Park and back - it's a solid 4 miles. Always busy with people walking and riding bikes so keep your head on a swivel and stay to the right. Make sure you nicely say "on your left" if you're coming up behind someone. It's just the nice thing to do. :)

Yelp
Went out on this trail for the first time yesterday via the new bike sharing system in Charlotte. We thought we were just going to go for a walk at Freedom park, but then encountered the Bcycle station and decided to pop on a couple bikes. Rode from Freedom Park along the Sugar Creek Greenway to CPCC. It was great to be able to park our bikes at the Metropolitan center Bcycle station and wander around for all manner of food and shopping. Not hungry, we just looked around and got back on the bikes and made our way back to Freedom Park. The greenway was fantastic and reminiscent of living in DC where there were plenty of bike trails. We found ourselves thinking about getting bikes again! Tax dollars at work? If so, I totally support it.

Yelp
This park is fantastic! My husband and I like to take our bikes and ride through the trails on weekends. Its as if you step back in time- lots of people walking their dogs(Who I love waving to), there is a snow cone stand in the park, people with blankets laying on the grass, birthday parties, bikers...its an experience!!

Yelp
Beautiful greenway to walk, jog or ride bikes on! It can be crowded on the weekends, especially if it's gorgeous outside.

Yelp
Stayed at the Hampton Inn - Uptown. Came in from California. It was .47 mi to the Greenway and then a beautiful run for 4.7 mi. Great run! Would recommend to anyone.

Yelp
We are visiting from out-of-town and were so excited to find the Greenway! What a fantastic way to stay active, navigate and see many beautiful neighborhoods of the city, and enjoy the outdoors. There are some areas where signage could be a bit better but thankfully there were plenty of friendly Charlotte natives to direct me. The route was clean and fairly well lit even as the sun set. It's so wonderful when cities are designed to inspire healthy and active lifestyles!

Yelp
The Greenway is a great path for biking, jogging, walking, & relaxing. I only had a chance to explore between Elizabeth Ave and Morehead ST but I know it extends to Freedom Park. The stream along the path is beautiful and calming (saw some ducks). Always a lot of people around doing various activities. There are different pieces of art and benches throughout including a great view of Uptown and close to Midtown if you're feeling hungry. Plenty of places to park. Great addition to Charlotte!
