Title: Extremely Unhygienic, Misleading Listing – Avoid at All Costs
Review:
I checked into Room 102 at Little Tibet Hotel, Darjeeling, via Agoda, and was immediately shocked by the state of the room. It was nowhere close to what was shown in the photos. The room was completely unhygienic and unacceptable for human stay:
• Mold and fungus were visible on the walls.
• The bedsheets were filthy and stained.
• The washroom was dirty, smelly, and clearly not cleaned for days.
• Furniture was dusty and worn out.
• I was bitten by a mosquito or insect inside the room — not acceptable at any level of hospitality.
I immediately approached the manager and requested a room change. He flatly said no other rooms were available and cited Agoda policy to refuse a refund, even though we were barely in the room for 10–15 minutes. The room was clearly misrepresented on Agoda.
In sheer frustration, we walked around Darjeeling on foot and after visiting several properties, we found a much better hotel just across the road. We booked and paid there on the spot. When I returned to inform the manager to check us out immediately, he suddenly changed his tune and said he did have another room available. Earlier he said the hotel was fully booked — this was clearly a lie.
After we moved into the new hotel, he even called us again, asking us to come back and offering a “larger room.” The lack of honesty and hospitality was deeply concerning.
I am writing this not just for other travelers, but to also urge Agoda management to take this matter seriously:
• This property misrepresents itself on the platform.
• The management is dishonest and dismissive of guest concerns.
• The level of cleanliness and hygiene is well below acceptable standards.
This kind of experience reflects badly on Agoda as a platform. I request Agoda to inspect this property, verify the quality promised versus the reality, and review whether it deserves to remain listed. Travelers deserve better.
