Small. Overpriced. Unimpressive.
I saw all the buzz about this, and heard they had a cafe, a good selection of drinks, curated cheese and produce areas, etc. Was semi-close and stopped in to maybe have a light breakfast and find some interesting root beers.
Positives first: bright and open. Actually had a few interesting root beers, though nothing new to me. Good, but small, wine and beer selection.
But all in all, deeply disappointing. Outrageously expensive. The markup on already-pricey and unusual items seemed smaller and more reasonable, but the markup on cheaper things- orange juice, cheese curds, produce- was nuts. 25-50% more than at other stores. The cheese selection was much smaller than I expected at a specialty store, and there was not as wide a variety as there could have been. The butcher area looked good, but again, kind of small, because the place is small and there seems to be a higher priority on sweeping views than on selection and availability. The produce section was also not big proportionally, and things did not all look fresh. Eww.
The cafe has coffee and half a dozen pastries. No meals. Maybe that's just on weekends? The dry goods selection is sparse. I did see quite a few things that I'd never seen elsewhere in town, but again, overpriced, and just not interesting enough to draw me in.
Service? Almost awful. One guy in produce apologized for his carts blocking the aisle and asked if I needed anything in particular. No one else acknowledged me, and there were staff everywhere.
Parking is... weird. Not really their fault, I guess, and I knew it was like this from coming to the market. But no way to get close to the door, which would have been an issue if my mom had been with me. And there was ice and snow, not completely cleared three days after the storm, so if weather was bad it would be a long dangerous walk.
This could have been so much more.
