"From the team behind the hotspots Lucky Belly and the Tchin Tchin! Bar comes this casual approach to fine dining. Snuggle into this Honolulu Chinatown staple, below exposed brick walls and windows sheeting in soft light. Start with a playful craft cocktail like a peanut-infused Jim Beam Black with honey, angostura bitters, and Banane du Brésil. Then start exploring the seasonal menu, which can romp from garlic tuna spread to burrata with crisp artichokes and the Tavern Chop, a mélange of bacon, bay shrimp, avocado, radicchio, heart of palm, and corn sliced off the cob. Living up to the establishment's name, the chefs do meat right, from the house-cured lamb-bacon sandwich to the delicious smoked prime rib dip."

Food is well priced and delicious! We don’t eat out often, and we had a great 1st experience. My partner and I shared the chop salad, oxtail mac, clam chowder, grilled octopus, and half rack of lamb. Holy cow everything was perfect and yummy. The stars of the meal were the lamb and octopus; lamb is our favorite food and it was prepared 10/10. Cocktails were also a treat; not too sweet. We were SO full and would definitely recommend this place to others. Come here for a great and unpretentious yet memorable dinner.

We enjoyed dinner at Livestock Tavern. We started with the Lobster and spinach dip and the special soup of the day french onion soup. For main we had the smoked prime rib and half rack of lamb. Overall it is good. I did not like the sauce that they put with the lamb.

Lamb chops, bourbon drink, and burgers are great. Bone marrow was not very much marrow but delicious. Lamb skewers and NY strip were just okay. Service was amazing first half of meal but we were left waiting at the end for boxes and check.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The food was very good. My husband loved his meal. There are several parking lots nearby.

Google
Great little spot, wide variety of options from seafood to pasta to steak. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had the Risotto (super creamy), the lobster ravioli special (best ever) and the Tavern Burger (perfectly done and an out of this world bun). It was a Monday night and pretty slow inside, but more people need to be coming here, highly recommended.

Food was good, service was a nightmare. We went for dinner on Mother’s Day. Our server was an Asian guy in an aloha shirt. His attitude from the beginning was just terrible. Seemed like he didn’t even want to be there, very impatient and no smiling (I know not everyone smiles but we didn’t even get any sort of friendly vibe from him). Food came out slow, but that’s at no fault of anyone, especially given that they were busy. Food was excellent once we received it. After we finished eating, we waiting a good fifteen minutes while tables around us got their checks. No one checked up on us. I attempted to wave down our server multiple times but he had some sort of tunnel vision and just didn’t notice us whatsoever. I eventually had to get up myself to wave down a server and ask for the check. Service ruined the experience for me, especially on Mother’s Day. The wait for the check would probably have been perfectly tolerable had our server not had an attitude issue from the beginning. Despite the food being great, I won’t be going back again, nor will I be able to recommend this restaurant to friends or family.

I enjoyed the rich salad, more bistrot style approach. The apple desert was tasty, light and good size to share.

Google
A friend who live in Honolulu recommended us to this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try. The prime rib is so tender , they even helped us to cut it to smaller pieces so we could share. We also had Beets & frisee. The portion of scallop mushroom risotto was very generous, and the taste was very flavourful. Sunchoke & Brussels was another nice dish. The service was attentive. At the end, we couldn’t finish the food, so we had to pack to go. It was a nice dinner!

Yelp
Livestock Tavern is hands down our favorite place to take family and friends! We go every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary and sometimes for birthdays. Over the years, we've tried nearly every small plate on the menu, and they've all been fantastic. Our absolute favorite is the wild game dogs--every time, they've been delicious, and we haven't had a bad one yet! I also really appreciate the seasonal drink names they come up with for their signature cocktails. They're always so creative, and it's fun to see what new concoctions they'll offer. The seasonal menus are another highlight for me; I remember their pumpkin pasta a few years ago, and I'm still hoping they bring it back! One thing I miss is the rotating seasonal desserts. In the past, they would change with the seasons, but on our last two visits, the desserts seemed to be the same. I'm not sure if they've stopped changing them, but I'd love to see that return. Overall, this place is always a great choice for a special occasion or a night out with loved ones. Highly recommend!

Yelp
#48 of 52 (weeks of trying a new restaurant at least once a week) We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. They do take reservations so I made one even though we were eating during the week. We got there about 6pm and definitely didn't need a reservation as there were only 2 other parties in the dining area but I'm glad we made one just in case. I actually really like the interior. It is dark but also cozy with the lighting, decor and exposed brick. I put on our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary so they brought us each an anniversary prosecco which was so nice! Most places give you a complimentary dessert but I loved the free prosecco instead. After checking out the menu we decided on crab cakes and oxtail mac and cheese for our pupu's. For dinner my honey went with the prime rib and I opted for the lobster with squid ink pasta. Our pupu's came pretty quickly. The crab cakes were delicious! There were full of crab and I loved the sauce and fennel that came with it. The mac and cheese was good but I wouldn't call it mac and cheese because it was not cheesy at all. It seemed like it was just noodles and oxtail sauce. I liked the oxtail but I was looking for something cheesy and it wasn't cheesy at all. Next up were our entrees. My pasta came with a lobster tail which was a nice surprise. I thought it would just have lobster in the pasta but a whole tail is even better. I enjoyed the pasta sauce a lot it was just really rich. My honey's prime rib was perfect! It was delicious and I liked the sauces for dipping. The vegetables didn't look tender but they were and they were good. The portions are generous and we brought home leftovers. We were too full for dessert but we were happy with our anniversary dinner choice.

Yelp
I really enjoyed dining at this countryside theme eatery. When you walk in and see the attention to details and decoration it makes you feel like you're eating in a refined farm house or barn. I dig it. They do have a large menu, and the service staff was polite, answering all my questions about their best sellers and their personal favorite menu items. We settled on a few different plates, including the oxtail mac & cheese, octopus, prime rib, and squid ink lobster pasta. The oxtail mac & cheese portion was generous. It would be enough for a light eater. The smoked Gouda gave it a really nice touch. The cheese sauce tasted like It had some type of brown sauce:liquid and I really enjoyed that. The octopus was light and refreshing. It was paired with a few different vegetables and herb aïoli that brought the flavors together perfectly. The lobster squid ink pasta with saffron cream was somewhat disappointing because the lobster was a tad bit overcooked. Besides that I thought the flavors were quite nice. Lastly, my personal favorite was the smoked prime rib. As a red meat and steak lover I was satisfied with the prime ribs hint of smokiness, tender texture, and fat content. It was served on top of a pan sauce and healthy portion of vegetables. This restaurant is definitely worth the trip.

Yelp
Livestock Tavern a wonderful restaurant and bar in the heart of Chinatown. Gourmet food in a casual setting. Wonderful selection of signature drinks and wines. Impeccable service whether you're dining or just having a drink and pupu's after work. We made our annual reservations for the Chinese New Year festivities. Our appetizers were the Smoked Octopus, Hen of the Woods Mushrooms, and the Skillet Cornbread. Entree's of the night were Rack of Lamb, Cast Iron Chicken Papparadelle, and Blue Crab Raviolis. For dessert we had an Ice Cream Sundae. All were Wonderfully prepared and served. Everything was perfectly balanced and delicious. A perfect end to a perfect day.

Yelp
Anniversary dinner: great experience. True rating is 4.5 than 4.0 Ordered crab cakes and bourbon bone marrow with mushrooms for appetizers. Server let us know he would be lighting the bourbon so I could get my camera ready. Both were delicious. Crab cakes were extra crunchy with more crab meat and less fillers than many places. Bone marrow was delicious with the bourbon and had extra umami flavor with the mushrooms. Nice crisp and buttery crostini to round use out. Hubby had the prime rib and he was very pleased with the meat. An inch thick (maybe a tad bit more), cooked just as ordered and very tender. He want a fan of the veggies but that's more personal taste. My scallops and mushroom risotto was very good. The Arborio rice was cooked to perfection (many places rush the process and sometimes the rice comes out crunchy, but not here). Plenty of tender Bay scallops and mushrooms. Only problem, there was a bit too much butter so the rice was swimming in it. Added flavor but a tad too oily. Was very tasty otherwise, but a tad too salty. Portions were very generous for our entrees and worth the price. Since we were celebrating pikes anniversary they gave each of us a half glass (more like 2/3!) of Prosecco, which we enjoyed. Bar tender helps serve when he's not mixing drinks so food comes out at a reasonable pace. We arrived at opening on a weeknight, but by six most of the tables were full. A couple of guys sat in the bar area for a drink and their dinner. Came here for lunch before and enjoyed our meal. I think the meat options may not be for standard tastes, but caters more to those who like something a little (just a little) more adventurous. Would come here again.

Yelp
The food is great. The atmosphere is relaxing. The service has always been good. I loved the smoked Prime Rib!

Yelp
I loved the pictures of the dishes taken by other Yelpers. Unfortunately, about 10 minutes after I ate the oyster appetizer, I had burning diarrhea. ( sorry if it's TMI but just want to warn people). I've eaten fresh seafood, exotic cuisine and dined all over but I have never had burning diarrhea before. Fortunately, there are many unisex bathroom stalls here. I eventually felt better after being in the bathroom for some time. Service was good - excrpt no one refilled my water glass. The prime rib Benedict and Vanilla Creme Brulee were excellent, so I gave this restaurant at least 3 stars. Many parking options of lots and structures to use. I prefer the Marin Tower parking facility since it is covered and only about 2 blocks from the restaurant.

Yelp
I don't normally come to downtown often to eat, but since we had some friends visit they wanted to try some places! ***What we ordered ~ *NOTE: I would say portion sizes are to share especially for the apps! **Corn Bread (6/10) ~ I personally like my corn bread a little more sweeter, but this was okay! I thought it was a little dry, but the butter really made it. **Corn Dog (5/10) ~ On the menu this was described as something really posh and elevated, but it was sad. All it was, was an Arabiki Sausage as a corn dog. It didn't taste bad, but it was okay. Don't order it though unless you want an average corn dog. **Tavern Burger (8/10) ~ The only thing that was GOOD. The burger had a really good Smokey taste and the grilled onions really brought the burger together. The fries were okay, but overall not bad! Overall, It's really pricey here and the food is okay. Service was really good! But I don't think I'll come back for the food.

Yelp
Came in for a pre concert meal before Hawaii Theater show and this was the perfect spot! I love Fete but it was super busy - Livestock was comfortably full but not packed. The service was prompt. The food was fantastic! I ordered the blue crab ravioli, which was delightfully flavored. My favorite part was that it was packed with veggies! Asparagus and artichokes, so yummy! My Dad had the lamb skewers, perfectly cooked, he said. They also came with a skewer of veggies. The drinks were excellent as well. Great dinner spot!

Yelp
Everything was great! Service, Food, Atmosphere and parking is nearby. I enjoyed the New England Clam Chowder and they were very generous with the amount of clams!! Definitely a plus. I came for the prime rib. Reasonably priced and delicious. Au jus and horseradish complemented the dish perfectly along with vegetables.

Yelp
Lots of hearty comfort food. Not being American, I never understood the fuss about cornbread until I had it here. Still have sweet and spicy memories of it. Service has always been good, but nothing that memorable aside from one time when they managed to fit 5 of us in after other members of our party made reservations on the incorrect date. The lighting is dim enough for a busy space to seem intimate, but bright enough that you're not squinting at the menu or your guests around the table.

Yelp
The world food tour made a return visit to Livestock Tavern after taking in the Tan Dun concert at Hawaii Theater. Our reservations were for 6:45pm but we arrived at 5pm after leaving the concert at intermission. We went for the first half and Gustav Mahler is just not my cup of tea. We were the first patrons of the evening and we were seated at a table for two in a corner ... Perfect for us. I ordered a 2018 Neyers Pinot Noir from their Placida Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. The wine was a deep ruby color with a great deal of red fruit, cola undertones and the right amount of acidity. Our appetizers were the Bourbon and Bone Marrow and the Pumpkin & Brussels. The bone marrow needed more time under the salamander as we like our marrow with the bones browned. The roasted garlic and mushrooms somewhat overwhelmed the marrow ... Another reason for caramelization of the bones. The pumpkin and brussels were excellent ... I would be satisfied with just this dish and a side of crisped bacon. The pumpkin was perfect ... The combination of brussels sprouts, bacon and balsamic is simply wonderful. Our entrees were the seared duck breast and the grilled rack of lamb. The duck was moist and tender and the lamb was well seasoned and prepared as I like it ... medium rare. The lamb was served with assorted root vegetables; the duck came with asparagus, potatoes atop a pumpkin puree. We shared a warm apple tart for dessert. This was the sole disappointment of the evening. The Granny Smith apple was cut into large chunks ... IMO, it would have been far better had the apple been cut into thin slices. I make this dessert at home and thinly sliced apples is far easier to cook properly than large chunks of apple. Final thoughts ... Livestock Tavern offers interesting dishes at a very reasonable price ... I wish they would re-open for lunch.

Yelp
We decided to go for date night. It was such a lovely experience. I think we went right when it opened so it wasn't too crowded. We sat on the bar side. The bone marrow was very tasty. We both enjoyed our prime rib. Recommend tasting atleast one of their appetizers. Topped it off with our glass of wine and bread pudding.

Yelp
I've eaten here for lunch before and they catered my friends wedding and the food was really good! Finally got to try them for dinner during their "Autumn Supper" menu (apparently they change a couple things each season.) I got the Seared Duck Breast because not a lot of places have duck dishes. It was good and easy to cut - it had a pumpkin puree that I didn't really care for.. couldn't really taste the flavor of the puree but the dish overall was good. I tried my friends Blue Crab Ravioli and that was insanely good. My other friends got the short rib and bolognese and they really liked their dishes. The appetizers were honestly my favorite. I went with a bunch of friends so we got a variety of hush puppies, pumpkin & brussels, and crab cakes - all SUPER good and I wouldn't mind just eating those all night. We also got the creme brulee and bread pudding for desserts - creme brulee was kinda bland and I kinda wish the bread pudding came with a scoop of ice cream instead of only a dollop of whipped cream. Dinner menu overall was ok, nothing really stood out to me but the food was still good. Services was good also, although there was a hair in my friends dish but they replaced it fast and was nice enough to comp it from our bill so that's good. I'd come back again.

Yelp
Wow! This little gem right on Hotel Street turned out to be a nice surprise. I had a little anxiety walking over to the restaurant, but once inside, it was such a great dining experience. We started our meal with the clam chowder which was seriously, one of the best I've had. Served with a crispy, grilled slice of sourdough bread, this chowder was filled with clams in every bite. Then we ordered the duck breast as a shared appetizer. For the main meal, we had the Salmon. It was cooked perfectly to a light seasoned crisp. We also ordered the prime rib, which was a pretty nice portion and the big value was adding on the lobster tail for $15. That is a steal and totally worth the money paid. We were stuffed but decided to take a peek at the dessert menu. Ok that was a mistake! I could not turn down the caramel sundae and my husband couldn't pass up the caramel bread pudding. And the two servers running the floor for the entire restaurant were so on it! They were both very polite and paced the meal very nicely. This was definitely a great find and glad we made the effort to get down here. My favorite pick of the evening (which is a tough pick), was the clam chowder with the crisp, grilled sourdough. I'm coming back just for that!

Yelp
I've had this place saved as a place we needed to go for a long time. We had a friend visiting from the US, staying in Waikiki, so it seemed like a good time to try it. Made a reservation for three, and found parking in the little lot up by Ginger & Garlic, and arrived a few minutes early. We were greeted and seated immediately. Unfortunately, we were seated right by a large, loud party, and we couldn't hear each other without shouting until they left. The high ceilings and brick work look lovely but definitely don't do much for acoustics. We ordered a bunch of small plates (bone marrow, brie, cornbread, crab cakes, hush puppies) and reviews were mixed. The bone marrow was a little overpowered by the mushrooms. The brie was overpowered by the cranberry jam and the ratio of brie to bread was pretty small. Both would have been better with fresh, crusty French bread than with the fried bread they served with them, especially since the brie was breaded. The hush puppies were a little undercooked, but still edible. On the plus side, the filet mignon and the rack of lamb were excellent and perfectly cooked. All portions were very generous and value for your money is excellent. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. We had a lot of leftovers and they graciously packed them up for us.

Yelp
I've been to Livestock Tavern likely in excess of twenty different times, so this review is very long overdue. While I'm rating Livestock as five stars, on occasion it falls slightly below but given the amount of times I've been, I think it's fair to post with a five star review. My favorites are the wild game corn dogs, the cornbread with jalapeño butter, the French fries, and the (new to the menu) "Fork and Knife" brisket sandwich. With the wild game corn dogs Livestock frequently rotates the kind of meat used. The jam utilized is a perfect addition, and I prefer it over the aioli. The cornbread is probably my favorite appetizer, and the jalapeño butter really makes it something different. On my most recent visit I tried the "Fork and Knife" Brisket Sandwich for the first time, and while the brisket was a smidge dry for my preferences, the ensemble was amazing. It's a HUGE portion, so I probably should have shared it or taken half of it home. In regard to the drinks, the bartenders are always happy to accommodate my custom drink orders, though sometimes the ingredients needed for something I want are not in stock. But on the whole, the drinks are consistently delicious and Livestock is one of the best spots for both great food and great drinks. Service has always proven to be top notch, quick, friendly, and accommodating. I failed to take menu photos on this particular trip, but I'll try to fix that on my next outing to Livestock.

Yelp
Party of five greeted with happy hostess and server. We orders smoked prime rib. It fit the entire plate. Make sure you are hungry. The crab ravioli was tasty with lots of crab. We also had clam chowder, burger and chicken papperdelle.

Yelp
Food poisoning from ordering the burger. Asked for medium rare, assumed would be fresh ground beef. The food was delicious, but definitely hold off on getting the burger if you're trying to enjoy your vacation. Bone marrow had alcohol lit on fire and poured over, but staff didn't burn all the alcohol so some of the bread was just soaked in alcohol. Felt like eating a shot, I couldn't swallow the soaked portions. Staff kept rushing to take away plates that weren't finished yet. Beer poured out of cans, so get cocktails instead. Normally would give this a 5/5 experience, but don't ask me how I want my burger if it's not freshly ground beef.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Overall: I'd come back for sure! The extended review... Food: Oxtail Mac and Cheese - 5/5 - Well hello there! I mean...if there's a dish you want to eat this is IT! In addition to being a very decent portion of food and tasty at that. It's a decent amount of oxtail put into the dish which is nice. Confit Duck nuggets - 3.5/5 - It's a decent tasting dish. I think what I would like more is to get more of the duck flavoring in the nuggets. Pumpkin and Brussels - 4/5 - A very hearty veggie dish to compliment the meat and carbs. Smoked Octopus - 3.5/5 - A good pairing of meat and seafood. Service: 4/5 - Friendly and attentive service. Ambiance: 5/5 - It's definitely a very inviting atmosphere. Very modern and rustic feel to it right in the heart of Chinatown.

Yelp
Made reservations on OpenTable for a birthday dinner (celebrant's choice since they're known for their prime rib - his fav). Arrived on time but didn't get seated until 15min later. And, unfortunately, we got seated in the bar area - really didn't like the high top chairs (uncomfortable) and we were next to the portable AC. Reservations shouldn't include the bar area - bar area too casual for a special dinner I expected. French onion soup and salad were tasty - good start. Teens enjoyed the Tavern Burger and Wild Boar Bolognese. Celebrant ordered the Prime Rib (only 3 pieces left by 6:30pm Friday). Their star dish didn't impress - needed salt and had no smoked flavor... it was ok. I ordered their special... ono. Upon arrival, it looked impressive but 1/3 of the way through eating, thin fish pieces were dry and wasn't savory - I couldn't even finish the plate (and I normally do). We stayed for the complimentary birthday sundae (nice, shareable size for our fam of 4). I really wanted the birthday dinner to be great but unfortunately, it fell short and didn't meet our expectations. Wished it was better.

Yelp
First the food was amazing my girlfriend and I just left we had a res for 815pm tonight. We had the corn dogs, bone marrow, corn bread to start all were perfect some the best I've had. For our main dish we had the lobster pasta and braised short rib my favorite. Everything was fire to end the night we had the bread pudding recommended by Janala not sure if you spell her name like a sweet and kind white girl with a bomb personality. The service exceeded expectations water and plantation tea were always filled and food came out very quick. The ambiance is great For drinks and date nights. We will come back for sure to try their new menu. Thank you to the chef awesome job and everyone that made our night excellent!

Yelp
As expected, another enjoyable experience at Livestock Tavern. We shared the Smoked Octopus which is consistently delicious. The smoked fresh tako flavor is enhanced by the andouille sausage and complemented by the olives, artichokes and lemon aioli. The seared duck breast also remains a favorite of my partner and this time it has been elevated to be the best duck she has had in Hawaii! Was looking forward to having the crab crusted salmon but my disappointment; when it was mentioned that they run out of the salmon, was short lived once I heard about their special: scallops wrapped in bacon with mushrooms, caramelized onions and potatoes on a bone marrow sauce. This dish was superb, the "bacon" looked and tasted like prosciutto and each of the other ingredients enhanced this scallop dish. The expert service delivered by Chelsea and the ambiance made the meal a magnificent experience.

Yelp
The food was great, the service was not so much. I didn't feel like anyone I encountered was very friendly towards me. Granted I didn't make any effort to be social towards them. I got the vibe they were ready to leave as my reservation was for 8PM and it seemed to be closing when I left around 9PM. It's a cool little spot through. The decor is rustic feeling, and the area of town is pretty cool too. There isn't much seating but it wasn't busy for a Saturday night I thought. I ordered the cheddar bacon hush puppies which didn't have any bacon taste I didn't think but I still thought they were great. I could have eaten 50 of them! The little apricot jam goes well with it too but I didn't think they needed anything else expect a little more bacon. I ordered the Tavern Burger which comes with fries for my entrée and was not disappointed. Well seasoned, cooked perfectly and the onions and sauce added to it! I will say the onions were a little overpowering for the overall taste and could use a little less or more meat to balance it out more but I thought it was great regardless. The fries tasted great, but on the soggy side for me. Bacon Cheddar Hush Puppies 9.5/10 Tavern Burger 9/10 Fries 8/10 Of the places I have been in the area, this is up there on my list so far. I definitely recommend if you see something on their menu you'd like to try.

Yelp
Came highly recommended by a friend. But sadly the place didn't deliver. Service was incessant. Just annoyed we were presented a bill before we could order another drink. I'm on strict diet and this place offered healthy options. But the problem with these kind of options ar they tend to lack bold flavors. I ordered a tavern chop salad. It really needed some seasoning. My friend ordered the cast iron chicken with papardelle pasta. She noted it was bland too.

Yelp
Five stars for the overall experience! Food was executed well, great service from our waiter Ty, and despite the cool gastropub/tavern vibe, they were very accommodating to our party of 5, including two little toddlers. Favorites were the prime rib and the salmon. Bone marrow was super solid and wished we had more! What we got: 1) bourbon bone marrow (flambé) 2) lobster pasta 3) smoked prime rib 4) macadamia nut crusted salmon

Michael L.

Yelp
We dined here on a Saturday evening. The food was pretty good and the cocktails were good as well. The service was top notch, but we saw a cockroach on the fridge by the bar. To make things even worse by the end of the meal, a cockroach was crawling on the very seats we were sitting on... this type of issue needs to be seriously addressed

Yelp
This restaurant is located in Chinatown where most street parking is free at 6:00pm. Staff is friendly and returned to our table often to check on us. As this is our first visit here, we asked for recommendations: STOCKS & GREENS: *House Made Cornbread: initially hesitant to order this, I'm glad we did. It's 3 pieces of goodness. *Hen of the Wood Mushrooms; loved the frisée salad. It's a good base for salad. Truffle vinaigrette was not outstanding but salad was overall light and refreshing. Fried pork belly added a touch of texture but can do away with it. *Oxtail Max & Cheese: Gouda cheese was a bit weak so the dish tasted like macaroni mixed in cream of mushroom. But a dash of salt was all it took to bring the comfort every mac & cheese does SMALL PLATES *Smoked Octopus: this dish was hard to dissect the taste of. Hmmm not sure if I like it or don't. It's Mediterranean with olives and olive oil but also served with lemon aioli on the side. PASTA, SEA & FOWL: *Maine Lobster Pasta: spinach pasta was good. *Scallop Mushroom Risotto: plenty of bay scallops and acid from the lemon truffle broth cut the fullness from the carbs. *Seared Duck Breast: skin crisp, well seasoned was key to this dish. This dish has a good play of salty and sweet. BEAST & GAME: *Grilled Rack of Lamb: we could smell something not right as soon as this dish was served. It's smelled of raw and old meat wreaking through a dirty butcher shop! Server was very kind to take this back. *Drunken Ox Rib: a huge piece of rib roasted to perfect tenderness. Serving size is huge. DESSERT: *Crème Brûlée: much needed dessert after the meat-laden dinner. Served in a coffee cup, it's interesting how I tasted the difference in temperature as I scoop down.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years and the bone marrow and lobster pasta has changed. The lobster maine pasta has squid ink pasta and lots of creamy lobster sauce. I asked for a side of bread to soak up all the delicious sauce. However, the pasta portion amount has significantly decreased which was disappointing. The bone marrow has bourbon pour on top then torched. The bone marrow has garlic, onions, and shimeji mushrooms. It was also delicious but the bourbon was not fully cooked and the two pieces of bread were uneditable since it was soaked with the uncooked bourbon. We both spit out the bread since it was terrible. Finally the smoked rack of lamb was not bad but I prefer no Smokey taste in my lamb. Finally, we got the apple tart with cream cheese whip cream. The pastry itself is nothing special. It just has chunks of apple on top with the cream cheese whip cream which was delicious but the pastry itself was disappointing. Nothing inside of the pastry. I was disappointed in the food this time around with the new changes. It maybe a while until I come back again

Yelp
Went for the first time in Father's Day. My husband absolutely loved it. We started with the duck nuggets they were great and the sauce was amazing. Then the cornbread which was fantastic. He had the prime rib which was his favorite. It was his cooked to perfection and juicy. Our daughter had the filet mignon which was amazing. I had the bolognese and loved it! Our service was amazing and attentive. We loved the environment and will definitely be back! Thank you so much!

Yelp
What happened to my review? I've been here several times since they opened so I'm confident I reviewed them. Yelp Ghost is being a brat now and I have to write another review for another restaurant that I previously reviewed. Think I'm going to have some words with Yelp Ghost one of these days. Livestock Tavern is located in Chinatown and the restaurant is huge with a bar. You can see into the kitchen where all the cooking happens and the place has a rustic vibe to it. Customer service is hit or miss over the years but it was excellent my last visit here on Christmas Eve. During this visit, we ordered Smoked Octopus, Confit Duck Nuggets, Grilled Filet Mignon, Braised Short Rib and Lobster Tail. The food came out nice and hot. Presentation was nice as well. We shared and everything was good. Our server was awesome to bring us small dishes so we could share without asking. Some dishes were a little salty to my liking but overall we thought the meal was tasty. The Braised Short Rib was probably my personal favorite of the night. It was so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes had pieces of garlic as well. Nice spot for a meal or to meet people for drinks.

Yelp
We had an opportunity for a date night pop up and we didn't know where to go. A friend recommended we check out the livestock tavern. So we looked on Tuesday, and they had reservations for 6:30 PM on Friday so we snatched it up. Parking was relatively easy in a open lot down the block. We walked on in, a little early for our reservation, and as soon as we stepped in, we were greeted warmly by the staff, and shown to our table. As soon as we sat down, we were provided menus, and every single thing on the menu looked fantabulous. It was hard to choose, but we went with a mushroom salad, and for our main entrée, Duck and the mushroom scallop risotto, plus a bread pudding for dessert. Every single item that we had to eat was delicious. This is a hidden gem and a great spot! It was very busy for a Friday night and a wee bit loud but not terrible. If you can grab a reservation, definitely do, because it was only starting to slow down around 7:45 pm when we were leaving!

Yelp
I've always dined at this restaurant during lunchtime b/c it was conveniently located for the downtown business crowd. At night, it's a little sketchy b/c downtown has gotten seedier with the homeless people walking/laying around. They're pretty harmless but best to go with friends, and not walk around alone. The ambience is cozy and minimalistic. Suitable for large gatherings, or date night. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and efficient. Ordered the grilled octopus, which were tender morsels a little on the salty side. Would be perfect accompanied with a thick slice of French bread. The Hen of the Wood mushroom salad was served atop frisée lettuce. It was a nice presentation but I would've preferred a different lettuce. To me, frisée is like the last choice of lettuce when you don't have anything else to serve. The salmon entree was good too. It wasn't dry, but next time I'll have to tell the cook to prepare my salmon rare to med rare. That's just my preference. Our choices were excellent and it was enough for two, sharing. We were going to a performance at the Hawaii Theater which was a five minute walk from the restaurant and made it there in enough time. Parked at the underground parking garage on Smith & Beretania Sts. All in all, it was a very good night and started with a fabulous meal at Livestock Tavern.

Yelp
This place is not equipped to handle groups. Additionally lead staff is confrontational despite mismanagement of service. If you would like to wait 2-3 hours while other parties have ordered dessert...go for it! Last but not least to have to defend the inadequacy of food after this long of a wait is ridiculous. This is a missed opportunity as you never know what type of customer you are serving. Let's just say we planned to make this a repeat environment for us and our partners. This place is now blacklisted in my opinion. Honestly, solving this problem is communication with the host. The host was great but I'm not sure if the management was informing of any food delay or possible reasons why folks around us were ordering dessert despite the fact we arrived at opening. Arrived 5:15 Food came out 7:20 Other tables ate and departed in between this period Good luck

Yelp
The food was delicious, had the chicken dish, which I don't usually order chicken at a restaurant and usually opt for seafood or steak but I was not disappointed one bit. Seasoned nicely and still moist enough to enjoy. The Brussels appetizer was divine and my only complaint is I wanted more but I'm not sure if it could ever be enough lol The service was excellent and the ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. I will definitely be eating here again, as I feel so many restaurants in Honolulu are a tourist trap or hit-n-miss but this place is a true gem. Wish I took pictures but I ate it all too quickly this time ;)

Yelp
Service was amazing. It wasn't 5:00 yet and they allowed us to sit inside rather than in the hot sun. They were friendly and attended to us, that's great customer service . The burratta sunflower salad was the best!! I loved it so much. Second fav was the hush puppies. We also had the beet salad which was yummy & crab cakes! Great experience and great service !

Yelp
We had a fantastic brunch! Loved everything about the place- the brick walls, service, and food! Will definitely be back to try their dinner menu.

Yelp
The appetizers were good. We got the blue crab cakes, 8/10. The duck nuggets were ok. Honestly tasted like hamburger, just a personal opinion. The prime rib was AMAZING, 10/10. The Maine lobster pasta was SUPER salty. I'm not sure if it's made to be like that, but I was not a fan. 5/10. If it wasnt salty 8/10.

Yelp
Originally, I had reservations set for The Surfing Pig, but after perusing their menu, the plethora of pork dishes was a gout disaster waiting to happen. Enter Livestock Tavern and their broader menu. ATMOSPHERE: Like other Chinatown dinner eateries, decor was similar: high ceilings, brick walls, dark and chic. We were sat at a high top, my preferred seating style, but their set up was very uncomfortable. I took the fixed bench seat that was about 3" below normal which made for a high table position. My spouse sat across me on the tiny, backless metal stools. But, our corner table offered good views of the street. Pro tip: Ask or reserve to sit at the bar or low top. MENU: Mix of apps, soup, salad, pasta, seafood, poultry, meats. Cocktails, beer, ciders, extensive wine list and whiskey selections. BEVERAGE: Rosé - $12.00 I mistakenly ordered this thinking it was a sparkling wine but it was traditional wine. Light-bodied and fruity. Next. Brüt Sparkling - $12.00 There we go, that's what I'm talking about! Love fizzy, bubbly drinks every now and then. Refreshing and not too tart. FOOD: Smoked Octopus - $21.00 Mmm, one of my favorite seafoods. Tender but with a bit of chewiness, they were stir fried with peppery andouille sausage, olives and artichokes. Highly recommended! Pumpkin & Brussels - $18.00 On recommendation by our server, this was another outstanding choice. The slight bitterness from the Brussels sprouts paired well with the sweetness from the pumpkin. Bits of lamb bacon added savory-ness and a pleasurable texture. Two yums up (this coming from a pumpkin despiser, LOL)! Herb Roasted Chicken - $32.00 My entrée selection as I'm trying to eat healthier. Man, what a lackluster, disappointing and undercooked dish. On the positive, the thigh (a bit pink in color) was overly-stuffed with spinach and mushrooms that spilled onto the plate. The drumstick was cooked on the outside but still bloody near the bone. Had I eaten this piece first, I would've sent it back but I was stuffed by then. Seasoning was nil, like I was in the hospital on a low sodium diet. I substituted the truffle (yuck) mashed potatoes with their garlic version which was sadly the highlight of the dish. Pass. Braised Short Rib - $38.00 The spouse's meal. Look at my photo, the dish looks superb. But, he was right there next to me in the same hospital on a low sodium diet. Flat tire! Pass. RESERVATIONS: Highly suggested as seating capacity isn't plentiful. I booked on OpenTable. SERVICE: We've never been the first party in (5pm rez) but were on this day as we had a flight to catch back to Maui. So, greeting and seating were immediate. Our female server was friendly and professional. Food delivery was quick. OVERALL: Apps so good they outshine the main dishes.

Yelp
A great place for some pupus and drinks! The crab cakes were ono-licious! The crab meat was abundant and tasted divine. The sangrias were a magical potion..sweet but not too sweet and it got the job done! Would skip on the chicken as there was a chemical taste to it...unsure what that was.

Yelp
I ordered the Wild Boar Bolognese. It was basically sliced hotdogs in a red sauce. The hotdogs tasted worse than the cheapest store bought hotdogs. They called them, "pork sausages" but they tasted like bad hotdogs. This meal tasted nothing like a decent wild boar bolognese should taste. I cannot recommend this restaurant and I definitely cannot recommend this dish.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. The service was bad... no one came by for any refills for an hour. The place isnt that big, so it was just an odd interaction. When the food finally came (took a really long time as well despite not being busy), it was so salty I felt like I was sipping ocean water. I still ate it because for $34 it was getting finished (painfully).... but would never ever order again. Dont know if this is the norm, it seems like other reviews are either similar to mine or great experiences, which means this place is hit or really bad miss. Hoping they get it figured out for the next person who comes in.

Yelp
This place used to be amazing but sad to say, it's not good anymore. We ordered 4 things and 3 were terrible. The bone marrow was SALTY!! We wondered if the salt cap fell off bc it was gag worthy how salty the bread and marrow were. The bourbon gravy hadn't been burned off properly so we got bites of salty alcohol soaked food. I cringed as I ate it. I eat everything and add salt to everything but this was really gross. I think it was so salty my taste buds were burned. The oxtail Mac and cheese sounded yummy but Chef Boyardee does better out of a can. It was mushy elbow macaroni that was over cooked, in a watery brown sauce with barely a hint of oxtail meat and a sparingly placed few shards of cheese. It was definitely not what we were expecting nor was it tasty... just bland. The "smells like teen spirit" cocktail was the only decent thing we put in our mouths all night. It was not phenomenal but it was ok. The "dark side of the moon cocktail was sour and punchy. Not enjoyable to drink. To add insult to injury we just planned to pop into the bar for a pupu and drinks, and we were told the open table in the bar area was "reserved". We were there almost an hour and nobody arrived to claim it. Meanwhile we were sat in the main dining room at a massive empty 12 top table with nobody there. And there was a roach crawling on the wall near another table and they had to be moved. And our server left 20 minutes after he sat us and gave us a wink and a peace sign as he slipped out. Livestock Tavern has become very strangely ghetto for no apparent reason. Maybe it was an off night but the place was empty and I know I wouldn't bother going back.

Yelp
Nothing wrong, but also nothing extraordinary. We shared the octopus and the lobster pasta. With the octopus, we couldn't quite figure out what was wrong. The flavors just didn't blend. Not unpleasant, but wouldn't get it again. The lobster pasta was tasty, lots of lobster, but the plating wasn't there. It was a lot of things tossed on the plate, and the spinach pasta was all broken into small pieces. It should have been long. Service was great, and drinks were good.

Yelp
So so good! I had the prime rib sandwich for brunch, and the death by day drinking and Mimosa cocktail and it's so good! The owner is super responsive and the customer service is great! Highly recommend

Yelp
For starters, we shared the oxtail mac and cheese and the duck meat balls. The mac and cheese was good, but not much of a cheesy taste for Mac and cheese. It was kind of like a slightly cheesy Mac in a little bit of oxtail gravy with some oxtail pieces. The duck meat balls were good and a bit of a different texture than your standard meat balls. For the main, I had the grilled rack of lamb. IIRC, the waitress said the chef recommends it as medium rare or medium so I asked for medium. When it came out, it was at least medium well, if not well done so it was a bit dry which was disappointing. I would dock a star for that but I'll leave it at 5 stars because two people at my table ordered the prime rib and those came out the way they were ordered and were massive, so I think it saves from the lamb mess up a bit. For cocktails, the one that had licor 43 in it was very interesting. If you like vanilla, you should give that one a try

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised by our Livestock Tavern experience! Everything from service to food quality and portions were superb. The street exterior didn't prepare us for what was forthcoming. The interior tables were well spread apart so not too close. We ordered a variety of items and every single dish was rave worthy. I wanted to make special mention of the scallop risotto in particular because as you know risotto can be a tricky dish. But Livestock Tavern hit it out of the park with their risotto. We all got to take a scrumptious bite. We cannot wait to return!
