Living Hotel De Medici (Dusseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Derag Hotels’ Living Hotel De Medici is a type of art hotel; it is luxuriously appointed and full of historical treasures. The elegant yet comfortable rooms come in a range of shapes and sizes and there is an attractive, Egyptian-style spa area. The lobby is reminiscent of a palazzo in Florence." - Tablet Hotels

Best hotels in Dusseldorf, Germany - SilverKris

"Housed in a building that formerly served as a town hall, monastery and museum, this sophisticated hotel sits in the heart of the old town next to the German Opera and the Rhine, with the Konigsallee and the riverside promenade right on its doorstep." - SilverKris

I was lucky to book a room and arrive the same day. The hotel was kind to give me a great room. Unfortunately this room was facing a pub/restaurant on the opposite side of the hotel room. That night the party went on until 06:00 in the morning. The staff was nice and gave me e new room the next night, that was facing the garden of the hotel. That was perfect. I can only thank the staff of the hotel for their hospitality and great service. Everything else with the hotel was great!

We loved our stay in this most amazing hotel. It was in a great location for exploring Dusseldorf with beautiful green parks nearby to enjoy the weather. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and nothing was a problem for them. The hotel building itself was stunning, with amazing artworks and sculptures. Unforgettable.

My friend and I stayed here for four nights, and we loved it! Great service, and the hotel is so beautiful. It was very cool walking around, we felt we were in a museum. The gym was great, and the breakfast was perfect. I would like to recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Düsseldorf.

I have been coming here since its opening 10years ago. It has a great location and is half museum half hotel. We arrived last night 22.00 and left less than 12 hours later. They charged us for parking in front of the hotel 35 EUR and an additional 50 EUR for the dogs. No dog food provided, no attention to water, no service. Very frustrating.

Our ninth time in the Medici. Room 206 this time. Perfect location. Super comfortable Bed. Great shower. Efficient service. Significant improvement on our eighth Stay in 2024 which was shockingly bad. So bad that our last three visits to Dusseldorf we stayed in different hotels. We thought we'd give the Medici another chance and were pleasantly surprised that it is back to it's delightful best.

I hosted a two day event in June 2025 at Living Hotel De Medici Dusseldorf and could not have be more pleased with my choice. The hotel was beautiful, unique, and in an amazing location; it felt secluded and private, yet was close to attractive walking locations. The art and interior of the hotel made for a stunning welcome for our guests. The event planning team was second to none in communication, support, and attentiveness. Michiel and Marvin were absolutely amazing to work with; anything I needed was seen to promptly and in a very personable manner (They both deserve a raise). The catering for our event was remarked on by several of our attendees as being far superior to any of their expectations. I felt that the hotel and the staff made our event a huge success. I will look forward to hosting future events at this and other Living Hotel properties.

We stayed for one night and the service and atmosphere were pleasant and professional. The dining room was full for dinner, but the staff made space for us in the bar for a light supper--just what we wanted.

Yelp
I'm torn because these were literally the two most sleepless nights I have spent at a hotel. I'm very temperature sensitive and cannot sleep in a hot room, even less when I'm jet lagged. Like literally, the AC is locked when you try to turn the temperature down so at first you think you're crazy lol. It's a biological fact that your body clock needs to drop in order for us to be able to fall asleep. I was informed that they turn off the AC in the winter, and the only way to cool the room is to open the window (and let in all the street noise at night). For a $350+ Euros a night hotel it had me questioning why they were trying to save money here. The positives- The interior is handsome and historic looking, though some may find the hand lamps and the portraits lining the hallways a bit creepy. I found the staff to be very kind, and the breakfast is amazing. The rooms have some high-tech touches and the sheets are nice. So there you go, one star for the lovely staff and the amazing breakfast. Zero stars for the most sleepless nights I have had in my life. And I'm writing this review slightly delusional and very sick from sleep deprivation, lol.

Yelp
The hotel is really nice. Great rooms, great breakfast and great location. The hotel also has a wonderful spa. This is my second time going to this hotel. My only negative is the service. When I arrived from NY at 7am, they made me wait until 12noon to check in. They told me that I could check early for an additional €50 for each day of my reservation. They knew that I came from America and but my appirience they knew that I had not slept in the last 24 hours. Also, If you check in at this hotel, make sure that you have the rooms by the indoor patio. The rooms facing the street can be extremist loud.

Yelp
This hotel is advertised as a 5 star hotel, but these stars are not justified. Where to start? First, the setting of the hotel is charming, in an old cloister, many exhibit pieces around, e.g. an Egyptian work behind the reception. But... I had a room in the third floor, under the slanted roof. The AC was deactivated but it was a hot Autumn day so the room had about 30ºC and no way to cool down. An alternative room had the bet squeezed between two walls, impossible for a 6'6 guy like me. Minibar in the room for some soft drinks - nope. I had to ask for some water to be brought. Conditioner in the bath - also a no. Had to ask for it. Staff was not particularly outgoing and friendly. When I arrived nobody offered to help with the luggage. Breakfast ends at 10 AM and no offer to make something quickly at 10:05 when I showed up (couldn't sleep in the hot room). Restaurant to eat in the evening -well, that was closed. Nice bar staff though. Altogether 5 stars for that service? I don't think so. Not worth the money, seriously. Coming back to the city in December and had booked in this hotel but will now book somewhere else.

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel. The staff is unbelievable friendly and helpful. It is a great location in the heart of the city. This area can be very noisy, that was not the case with this hotel because the large inter courtyard keeps the noise of the street out. The room was very nice with a really cool shower. Everyone spoke English as well. Highly recommend.
