What sets an establishment apart is not how they treat guests when things are going right, but how they handle mishaps.
I came here last night for some drinks with out of town friends. We sat outside in the delightful patio area and LuAnn took excellent care of us. We enjoyed some truffled popcorn, spicy nuts (heeee!), a glass of albariño, a Cucumber Collins (garnished with a beautiful purple flower!) and a Miami Manhattan. All was right until an extremely loud noise by the pool shattered our lovely evening.
An investigation uncovered someone powerwashing the concrete around the pool. At 8PM. With a patio full of guests. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS!
When LuAnn came outside, she was horrified. She offered us a free round of drinks, and the manager also came over and explained that the work being done was the result of a scheduling conflict and had us moved inside. Everyone apologized profusely. So different than the typical Miami attitude of "Oh, so what, what can you do?". I felt badly about how badly THEY felt! Honestly, we were going to leave until the staff made such an effort to fix the experience.
Once ensconced inside, we enjoyed the flattering lighting, a few more drinks and a prosciutto flatbread, which was excellent!
All in all, the drinks and snacks are really expensive, but everything is beautiflly prepared with care and tastes delicious. Paying $20 for a drink is not as offensive when it comes with excellent customer service.
