Lizzie Borden House (A Bed and Breakfast & Museum)

We had a great experience! Our tour guide was Megan and she was really great. I recommend adding the basement to your tour, it was worth the few extra dollars and gave some me more insight to the crime committed there. I brought my 14 year old nephew and he said more than once how “cool” the tour was 🙂. We will definitely go back for the ghost tour in the future!

We attended the Spilling the Tea with Lizzie Borden: A Victorian Tea Party. Sooooo fun!! Was pleasantly suprised it was an interactive experience! Megan (as Emma) was quite engaging and excellent at storytelling. The freshly baked scones, finger sandwiches and pastries were scrumptious! The candlelight setting added to the spooky ambience. 10/10 recommend!!!

My daughter-in-law and I stayed in Lizzie and Emma’s room, on 1/23/26 and it was an amazing experience. We were invited to join the ghost hunt, which was incredibly cool. Eliza definitely made it known that we were not welcome in her space! We’ve now done the house tour, the murder history dinner, and the overnight stay—and all three were a great time. My favorite room was the parlor; I found it very calm and relaxing and spent a few hours just sitting there. I highly recommend all activities at the Lizzie Borden House. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you for a wonderful memory with my daughter-in-law.

I really enjoyed the tour. A lot of information was presented throughout the tour. Having living in New England my whole life we always heard about Lizzie Borden but not all the information given. I love the history, the beautiful furniture and our tour guide Elliot was animated and enjoyable to listen to. Definitely worth the visit!

OH MY! Having done a few haunts in the last years this was definitely one of the best. Our guide, Ashley, was very thorough on her explanation of events as historically poised. Side note, our tour was supossed to be outside but due to weather she let us stay in side as she gave a quick inside tour instead, highlighting the major points while still telling the full tale. We also did the ghost hunt! Which was amazing! There were instruments available for use or purchase. And the activity?! For a solid few minutes some of the equipment would go crazy in a few key spots! It was really fun for us! This was for my kiddos birthday and she had a blast!

Wonderful! Our tour guide was hilarious. There were a lot of people and parking in the back was a little tight but we were there during the Xmas parade in Fall River. It was so informative and the real life artifacts and photographs were amazing! There are a lot of stairs so I’d not go if you have difficulty getting up stairs since there is no elevator. Splurge and do the basement tour. It’s not scary but it gives you a little extra information about the case, the history of the home and the family. I would totally go again if I have friends or family in town visiting! That’s how good it is. I grew up in mass and never went, I’m so glad I did!!

I booked the room in October for December 29th. I called them in November to drop a person off my room because we both have stage 4 illness and she had a scan that day. They wouldn't let me drop that ticket. So then I had to change the day to the second of January due to a storm. They charged me 20 dollars for that. Now I'm 620 dollars into just staying there. Get there NOONE is there not even a Ghost. I got a email telling me a code to get in. That was it. No other guests, no staff, no ghost. I felt very unsafe there. Thank goodness one staff member showed up at 10 pm to do a ghost hunt with people who never showed up. HE WAS AMAZING. But he left after an hour. In the morning a young staff member came in while I was making me and my guest coffee...she didn't even say hello, good morning nothing! I offered her coffee and we left. The experience absolutely terrible. They have voice cameras, I felt like we were on big brother. Like we paid them so they could watch us. Shame on the owners. The house is beautiful but not worth almost a grand for the whole trip. I have nothing good to say except Spencer deserves a raise. He is the young man that came at 10pm.

Karen our tour guide was wonderful! Gave a very compelling and engaging showing of the house that really encouraged speculation of what took place in the home on "that day". Then we did a ghost hunt tour in the evening with Adam. We all agreed that ghosts do not perform on Demand and there was the possibility we wouldn't experience much. But man did that ghost bell just about ring off the table, the EMF detectors went crazy and I experienced the very strong scent of perfume near the second floor window that had the lace curtain, but when I passed by it ten minutes later it was gone! What did it all mean, were not sure, but we sure had a spooky good time. And don't even get me started on the room next to the one we slept in that gave off such a negative, unwelcomeing feeling we didn't want to spend more than five minutes in. Thanks for a great birthday!

Expensive, but worth it if this is what you're into. The tour was fantastic, we had a really great tour guide! It's so neat being able to see this place room for room while being retold the famous story of Lizzie Borden. They are located in a cute little town with a cafe next door, and even have a nice quaint gift shop in the old shed! Definitely cannot wait to come back again!!

I feel the tour size was way too big as we all wouldn't fit in the rooms and most often got left out of hearing the story. Had to wait until rooms were cleared before able to really take in the scene. By then, already missed out on the beginning take in the next room. I completely missed out on the story upstairs in the attic because there was no room for me to get up there. I might as well have been touring alone for part of the "tour." Couldn't hear any story in the basement and feel it was a real waste of the $7 to see it. I think I'd rather had put it towards a beanie in the gift shop. Our tour guide, Jack, gave a little too much personal information with his troubles, which threw off the pace. Thought tour was only 1-hr but ours started late and lasted almost 2-hrs. Even though this is a very busy time of year, I think a better experience would be smaller groups and shorter tours.

we were there in the last afternoon tour on Nov 13th. Hgroup with a very knowledgeable guide dressed in period attire. She answered all our questions and got you thinking about whether or not Lizzie did it! More to the puzzle than I had known. Fun and different. We didn't stay there but were staying in Newport, but it was something fun to do. I know it's supposed to be one of the most haunted places in the US but I didn't feel anything but was still fun to see where it all happened. Go if you are in the area. It quick and I do want to go back to do the Murder History Dinner when I am back in the area. Cute Portuguese restaurant down the street for drinks and dinner.

We stayed overnight at the Lizzie Borden house and it was incredible. We had Jay for our ghost tour and our ghost hunting adventure. 10 stars for Jay! If you're going to spend the night, you need to do both of these adventures. We stayed in the Lizzie and Emma suite and the rooms were really comfortable. The bigger room had a fan and we just cracked a window in the other one. This was definitely a bucket list trip and I'm so glad we made it happen! Thank you to Jay and everyone who made the experience so fun!

Great tour! Very relaxed yet informative. Plenty of time for questions and exploring. There were about 15 people on our tour. We all got to take a look around and ask as many questions as we wanted. Phil was a great tour guide. This was my first visit and it was super fun. Fun little activity for history buffs and paranormal lovers alike! They have a little gift shop out back that you check in at and you can purchase from if you like. They have a nice little selection of shirts, ornaments, postcards, and more.

Aiden was the best tour guide. We've gone on manyyy ghost tours but by far he was the best! So engaging, knowledgeable and fun! We learned so much! We absolutely want to come back!

Our tour guide Elliot was awsome. I came with my little sister and mom and we had an absolutely amazing experience!! The people working at the gift shop were amazing as well. Update a bought a necklace with real brick in it and the charm fell off within a few hours of me wearing it and the bottle shattered and the dust went everywhere. $25 down there drain.

We didn't stay for the b&b, we just did the house tour. It was so good! If you are interested in LB at all you need to visit and take the tour. Growing up in RI we always sang the LB song and since our grandparents are buried in the Oak Grove cemetery with Lizzie, we were always fascinated with the lore and finally got to the house on a trip back home this summer. Do it, you won't regret it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of this notorious house with Jack. He was witty and informative, with a wonderful grasp of the history and a wonderfully entertaining style. Absolutely recommend!

We attended the Murder History Dinner and it was fabulous! We loved the actress who played Lizzie's sister, Emma. She stayed in character the whole time until the end when she allowed us to ask any questions about Lizzie, the case or the house. If you get a chance to attend one of these dinners, please do! Highly recommend the experience.

there was a mix up with tour guides when we arrived, so a young man took us on the tour Even though it wasn't not his tour day. I'm not 100% sure, but I think he said his name was Aiden. He was a wealth of knowledge and was enthusiastic about the history and the events that took place. I feel he went above and beyond what we expected for our tour. We had 2 teenage sons with us, and they enjoyed the tour too. 5 stars for our guide.

Was a great trip. Enthusiastic tour guides (Karen was fantastic!!), friendly staff and a delicous coffee and muffin from the Cafe next door. Highly recommend!

So I am inflight for an airline and my time on layovers is at a premium and usually short. Lizzie Borden B&B was a fascinating and terrific experience. I travelled from Boston via Lyft and took 3 tours: The House Tour, Ghost Walk, and Ghost Haunt. The first house tour was fun and informative with great photo opportunities and I saw every room and our guide was excellent. The second tour was the Ghost Walk which was an outside walking tour of Fall River in the evening. While we were pelted with rain that did not stop the fun and we saw sites connected to the Borden family and then a brief additional add-on inside the house. I was cold and this was a cozy relief from the rainy outdoors. Lastly, I did the 10pm Ghost Haunt where we met in the Borden House kitchen and were distributed many ghost hunting devices and then had about 90 minutes to explore the house and especially the basement with the tools given. I was very tired at this point so I explored the basement briefly and then sat with another guest and we heard from Jarrod via the spirit box and an app she had on her phone. It was fascinating. Finally, I have to say after spending the day at the murder house and getting more details of the events I don't think that Lizzie did it. I think it was actually Uncle John but there were a few holes that I could not connect. Would I recommend? ABSOLUTELY! It is murderous, ghoulish good time and the staff at the Museum were spectacular.

I mean, come on, you know you want to come here! Nice location and of course, the famous story. Whether you believe Lizzie was innocent or not, true crime locations are always pretty cool. We did not go in as we were on a schedule to explore other places but we were happy to get a photo and head to the cemetery to check out the BORDEN graves. Pretty cool.

This was such a pleasant experience. Upon extry, I felt something was on my leg. Later, I found out that it is most likely the ghost of the cat Max. I found my room easily with the instructions and labels on the doors. Outside, there are pear trees (Lizzie's favorite fruit). Around 9 pm, the other guests and I were all chatting on the main floor. Every so often, we would feel something at our leg. Especially in the kicthen. Which would make sense because cats beg for food in the kitchen. So cute. The other guests and I checked out each others rooms. Each room was lovely. The John Morse room has heavy and dry air of a feeling in it. I stayed the night before Lizzie's birthday (in Lizzie and Emmas room) to see if she would open her gift, which was cake. She did not open it. I highly suggest people trying to same for fun. Maybe she will do it for the right person. I asked the staff politely if I could light one little candle on the cake and see if a ghost would blow it out. Nope. I left the cake for the staff to enjoy. They explained how Lizzie technically did not like living here so she would not stay in her afterlife either. Makes sense. The gift shop had tons of options. I just loved the brick dust bottle. There were copies of books Lizzie read during the time of her parents' passing. Lots of t shirts. I almost got the axe replica. Maybe next time. I am staying the night before the big event.

If you're like me and you're fascinated by this murder case and its place in U.S. history, one of the biggest disappointments about this place is what a joke the whole thing seems to be to the folks who run it. It's not really a museum dedicated to the Borden case or even the lives of the people involved; it's a museum dedicated to the different types of media, lore, and memorabilia that references the case. This is an important distinction. It's abundantly clear from just taking the tour that most of the relevant artifacts and documents are in the possession of the Fall River Historical Society, and this monstrosity is essentially the "Disney ride" version of the saga. The effect is, at best, kitsch, and, at worst, morally egregious, not unlike the Salem Witch Museum. For example, if you're familiar with the case, you know how important the small barn behind the house was to Lizzie's explanation of where she was and what she was doing at the time of the murders. That area is now a gift shop. On my second visit to the Borden House, I paid to stay overnight in the Bridget Sullivan room. I find the case to be most interesting from her perspective as a witness. If you're an overnight guest, you have the run of a portion of the house--in my case, most of it, because no one else happened to be there that night--and can freely explore. This would be a huge selling point if the place weren't chock full of cheap props and axe joke signage. I assume that because it was a Monday night, the regular "ghost tour" wasn't happening, so I didn't encounter any staff either. I'm sure that's fun for families on a budget, but it's also nonsense when it comes to why the house is worth learning about. There were, however, dummies covered by bloody sheets in the places where the bodies were found. These creative choices are justified as "macabre humor" by the museum literature, but they're so half-heartedly executed that they come across as gross and mean-spirited. The house is also full of anachronistic items, along with knick-knacks and framed images for which context isn't provided. The "bed and breakfast" element is obviously a ploy to milk people for their money by allowing them to explore the paranormal mythology of the location, but the hotel aspect comes at the expense of any authentic comprehension of how challenging it would have been to live in such an environment in the 1890s. But who cares about authenticity when you can put up a Christmas tree in the sitting room in December--just feet away from a covered dummy representing Andrew Borden's hacked corpse--for the sake of pulling off yet another axe joke? Because I was the only guest staying there on my particular night, I had the unique experience of being aware that an employee was also present somewhere on the property due to the presence of another car in the back parking lot without ever encountering that person. This was easily the creepiest part of the whole stay. There are security cameras prominently mounted in every common area of the house. If the place was only a show business museum, which is all it is at its most substantive, this would be justifiable; but because it also technically functions as a hotel, the cameras create the sensation of being constantly watched by an AirBnB host with a prominently displayed murder fetish. This was made even more uncomfortable by the presence of a camera directly above and between the doors to Sullivan's room and the closest bathroom. The surrounding neighborhood is entirely contemporary, so even though the Borden House is poorly maintained with respect to history, it remains the most well preserved piece of Fall River history aside from the nearby church. In the middle of the night, I suffered an attack of conscience and realized I couldn't stay any longer. There was nothing directly ghostly or frightening about what I was experiencing; I was reminded of the detail from the trial pertaining to Lizzie laughing at the top of the main stairs when Bridget was letting Andrew inside the house. It seemed like there was always a spirit of contempt in how Bridget interpreted that laugh; perhaps because it was at the expense of her, the maid, oblivious to the massacred corpse Abby, the lady of the house, just feet above her head; or at the expense of Andrew, even more oblivious to his impending fate. But that night, it seemed like I could almost hear the owners of the museum laughing at me as yet another gullible guest, forever content to find entertainment in other people's tragedies. I got out of bed, packed my things, and went out to my car. It was parked in a paved-over area where there used to be pear trees, a few feet away from the closed gift shop that stands there in place of the barn.

Took a tour a few years ago. It's novel to see it in person. I didn't get weird vibes. But I did feel dizzy up in the kids room. Have fun!

I have always wanted to visit this house and I found myself in Fall River and just couldn't help myself. I saw the movie starting Elizabeth Montgomery probably 20 years ago and I have been fascinated by the story ever since. The house is now a Bed and Breakfast and one say soon, I'll stay there. The tour was incredible and spooky. The woman that ran it, I believe her bone was Heather, was accommodating and fun. We didn't have tickets but knew the last tour was at 3:30pm. She let us in without tickets and we bought tickets right after the tour as it had already started. This was extremely nice of her and her grace was much appreciated. The your itself was incredible. Seeing the rooms, clothes and old photos made for a high spook factor. There are even still blood stains in the wood in the basement and it's creepy. If you like haunted x houses and ghost stories, this is the your first you. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Amazing experience! M. Sheridan was our house tour guide...she was born to do this! Aside from being a historian and expert on Lizzie Borden, Mrs. Sheridan maintained a character, demeanor, and style that was synonymous with the era. So much fun! We learned so much about the Borden family and that fateful day, to include separating fact from fiction. This may be the best tour ever! Highly recommend! We stayed in the Lizzie and Emma room. Very spacious and comfortable. A definite spooky vibe to the room and house...

I've been on the tour several times over the years with my adult child and this time we took my 12 year old grandson. Jay was our tour guide and he was AWESOME! He had the facts, but he also had a wonderful sense of humor and curiosity that really brightened the story. He answered everyone's questions, of course, but also checked in on our feelings both mental and physical. He made sure everyone was as comfortable as possible, and offered options for sitting and leaning for those of us who had a hard time standing that long. Really fantastic! He was great with the kids, too. My grandson asked Jay's opinion on types of weapons and Jay answered his youthful questions with seriousness and kindness. It was wonderful to watch. My grandson is already planning our next visit, and wants to book an overnight stay! As that's been on my bucket list ever since my first visit, I'm sure we'll do it soon! I always recommend this tour!

The docent Meghan was dynamic, informative and energetic. I suggest a tour at less prime hours as ours was crowded at full capacity not allowing time or space to explore curated exhibits mid day. I was impressed with the professionalism of all the staff on site. The place could use an honest cobweb sweep and cleaning but a fantastic presentation of history deferred that.

A great tour and great story telling. The walk through Fall River and the connections to the Bordens told by someone who is not only a great storyteller, but who has done a lot of the research herself. Pay the extra money to do the first floor of the house, it's well worth it.

Came here yesterday and did a tour of the house. Was such a great experience! Enjoyed how our guide not only went over the case and the murders throughly, but gave history of the town at the time with Irish settlers, local business owners, the local doctors, and so much more. He was very good about answering questions people had and waiting for people to take any photos they wanted before going to the next room of the tour. He slid in some jokes here and there too, but was super honest about some things not having exact answers and was very no-bs about the plain facts. A true history buff with great tour guide/speaking skills. My only 2 critiques the size of the groups being too large for the small rooms, and the added $6 tour of the basement was not worth it (just my opinion, which is neither right nor wrong). We had just over 20 people in our timed group and I think it would have been more comfortable if it was 12-15 people instead. Regardless of my minor critiques, this tour is still very well worth it for people with interest in Fall River history, historic homes, or murder-mystery curiousity!

Stayed in the Bridget Sullivan room in this amazing experience! The decor adds to the spookiness of the room along with the spirit noises we encountered. Highly recommend to anyone that's into things that go bump in the night. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the common areas of the house with all the artifacts and nuances as well!!

Went for the tour. Our guide was absolutely amazing. He was not only entertaining but also was very accurate with the details of the case. Would love to go back to stay the night.

Definitely a place to see! You will hear the stories we've heard, but will hear stories not known...plus see why certain pieces of evidence were not permitted, why the layout of the home enters into the thought process, etc. I definitely know i would be too scared to stay overnight there...so those with adventure in you...you'll enjoy that too!

Our tour guide was phenomenal; he was funny, passionate and knowledgeable. Great local adventure for a rainy day, and the gift shop was cute, too. Next time, we're doing the ghost/graveyard tour!

I stayed here in June of 2024.. I was very disappointed with the accommodations. We stayed in the Lizzie & Emma suite, this was a two room suite with a shared bathroom (with another guest room). The bathroom sink was broken and unable to use (found out it has been this way for a few weeks prior to us getting there.) There was a note telling us we needed to use the third floor restroom, to get to the third floor we had to go downstairs and exit outside through the front entrance, go around the building and re-enter through the back door and up the stairway. For the price we paid this was unacceptable and ridiculous. Besides this if we wanted to take a shower we had to open the window, it was a colder da, needless to say we didn't use the shower. In the sweet there was a door that led to another room where there were other people staying, at one point they were trying to get into our room, why we do not know. Another thing, there are rules in the house, one of which said we could not touch any light switches with plastic covers on them and the switch we could touch did not work and we could not turn off the lights unless we stuck our finger under the covered switch to turn off the lights. Had we followed the rule we would of had to sleep with the lights on. We contacted them regarding the sink and never received a reply, we also spoke to the guide who was onsite and she really couldn't give any answers. I would advise you to save your money and not go there. I really wanted to give it NO STARS,m but accidently clicked on one star and could not unclick to remove..

I made the trek to Fall River Massachusetts, specifically to come and see the infamous Lizzie Borden house. I had heard that this was purchased by people who were fascinated with her history and the story, so I was very excited to finally get the chance to come here so for you visitors that are looking for a true walk through Victorian history, their day tours are the perfect opportunity. If you are someone who wants a little bit more spooky experience, then opt for their evening tour of the same house and surrounding cemetery. Either way you will walk away, and Riched, on a very famous American story of a Victorian woman who was persecuted, even after being found not guilty because all evidence pointed to her. This is a great opportunity for modern day people to think for themselves and decide, did Lizzie Borden really do it? Even though the evidence points to her, as you will see in the tour, there were so many other people who had motive and unusual behaviors. The house itself is beautifully maintained and makes you feel like you just stepped into an 1893 typical American Victorian family's, front parlor room. Well done team Lizzie- I am coming back with more of my friends and family for another experience.

I came here for the tour and I loved it. It was about 90 mins long and very informative. We got a tour of the whole house, learned about the time period, the family and the murders. It was worth the 33 bucks. We paid the extra 6 to see the basement but I think that was kinda lame. Either dont add that on or just consider it a part of the tour, it was just a money trap. The house itself is very well preserved, and even has some items owned by Lizzie. The tour guide knew a lot and was easy to understand. Speaking of the basement there are rooms down there for people to stay. I'm all for a real experience and have stayed at pages like this before, but the basement isn't a finished basement. It smells. Its freezing. Its very make shift. It doesn't seem safe in regards to not having windows. Personally I think this is a money pit idea and kinda weird to do. However, I only came here for the tour...so what do I know? :)
