Ljubljana City Museum

This was a great history museum with a lot of interactive sections. Explanations of items are provided in Slovenian and English throughout the museum consistently. There were some sections that could use a bit more detail, but I'm a historian. The museum was laid out really well and used a variety of interesting and unique artifacts to offer a history of Ljubljana. If you're interested in antiquities, the basement shows how the city is literally layers of history. If you're interested in WWII, they have a sad but very informative exhibit on how the city was impacted by primarily Italian occupation. You can easily spend 2-3 hours exploring. It is also a very family friendly place in terms of the exhibits as there were a lot of interactive sections aimed at kids (but also enjoyable for adults) and even a little dragon nook that lets kids use technology to tell stories. I went on a Saturday afternoon and was surprised (and felt a bit bad) to have the whole place to myself. It is a real gem and a fantastic museum.

Nice museum in the city three floors with a temporary exhibition. Your need about 2 hours to complete the museum has lifts toilets and place for jackets.

Great museum. Emphasising on WW2 and socialist victory after it. There is also big Roman section and prehistory, industrial Habsburg era.

Interesting museum about the history of Ljubljana/Slovenia. There are interactive displays, “do touch” displays for children and adults alike. You can get 10% off if you can get your hands on one of those paper fans. The coffee shop on site wasn’t worth it, though.

Interactive museum with a permanent exhibition of the story of the city, worth the price. Around 40 min of traveling through time. We also visit the temporary exhibition about Slovenia in the Second World War.

Incredible museum, incredible storytelling, incredible staff. As a bonus the coffee shop located inside is some of the best coffee I ever had. The first installation when you go into the exhibition area took my breath away, I won't even try to describe it, you just have to experience it.

The Ljubljana City Museum was a pleasure to visit. Having been to many city museums in my time I can say with confidence that this is a good one. This is even with a floor of the museum being closed for renovations during my visit. Ljubljana has a very long history and this museum does a wonderful job of laying that out for you to enjoy. This was a thoroughly enjoyable and educational experience. Also, I’ve been in even more art museums and the presentation of art in the first room on floor two is the best I’ve ever seen. I have never been more drawn into a room with art in it. Amazing place to visit!
