Day Trips in Manchester

"Tick another country off your bucket list — no passport required. Spend the day in Wales at one of the most handsome and well-preserved seaside towns on the west coast, which you can reach in an hour and a half by car or via one of several trains departing Manchester every day.Llandudno’s charm lies in the miles of pebbly beach, immaculate Victorian hotel facades, ornate pier, and stunning view from the top of the Great Orme, a hill overlooking the town and the Irish Sea. You could easily spend a day lost in the amusement arcades and on the pier, but don’t miss the Orme. You can either make a very steep hill ascent on foot or take the authentically historical Great Orme Tramway to the summit. You’ll be hungry from all that walking, or sitting in a tram, so order a traditional round of fish and chips from the excellent Fish Tram Chips at the foot of the Orme. If you’d rather have something that doesn’t come out of a paper wrapper, then the popular Cottage Loaf pub offers a full menu along with open fires, atmospheric surroundings, and an outdoor seating area." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Yelp
November Fireworks diaplay - a great destination all year round. The Llandudno pier is free to use and dog friendly. The Victorian wood floored pier is a long walk out and across the ocean. The 2019 fireworks display was spectacular when viewed from the pier.

Yelp
Super cute old fashioned pier, well maintained and studded symmetrically with cute little shops selling trinkets, wares and ice cream (Cornish ice cream in Wales, what now?!) and even a Harry Potter shop for whatever, quite possibly profit making reason. Good views when it isn't misty, free to walk down, which surprised us- we're guessing the rent on the little shops pay for the upkeep- and worth noting, that you can't really see the water through the slats if you're a regular heel wearer or a nervous pier walker. It's no wonder that Llandudno hold a victoriana weekend with historical staples like this one hanging around. You can fish off the end too.

Yelp
The pier is the ultimate Llandudno landmark, its the full stop , its the ultimate Llandudno place and I map Llandudno by how far everywhere else is from the pier. Llandudno is probably the best uk holiday destination with the most to offer and the pier is the hub around which the rest of Llandudno's many places revolve around. Llandudno has many jewels in its crown and the pier is the diamond.

Yelp
Llandudno Pier overlooks the North Shore of Llandudno and on a nice sunny day this area of Northern Whales provides the ultimate relaxation views of the Irish Sea and stunning Victorian establishments. Living in California it's not very often I compliment a Pier but I guess I just did. The Llandudno Pier is not a typical boardwalk, very old school feel designed for a young family or for a couple on romantic get away. In my case for singleton's an opportunity to gain perspective on how much beauty there is all over the world.

Yelp
Llandudno itself is picturesque as is the countryside surrounding it. The pier is a traditional Victorian one and there is lots to do and see. However, my advice if you look foreign or have darker than caucasian skin is to stay away from the cheeseman on Llandudno Pier. It's a beautiful country but my wife doesn't want to return. I'm finding it difficult to convince her that not all the Welsh are unpleasant racists like the cheeseman on Llandudno Pier.

Yelp
I worked on Llandudno Pier about 25 years ago when I was doing my A-Levels. They made us dress up in blazers that looked like they'd been made out of old deck chairs. Not much has changed since then, it's still the same old-fashioned (in a good way!) tourist attraction it was back then. You can buy all sorts of tat from the gift shops, waste a couple of quid in one the arcades then have a quick beer in the bar at the far end or a cup of tea in the cafe. A good old fashioned family day out.

Yelp
A lovely pier that has stood the test of time and won. Here, apart from great views, you will find shops, childrens rides, mini golf, bars, an arcade and food places. The variety of entertainment on the pier is great for all the family, average prices on the entertainment and its only really busy in the summer months, so you don't have to worry about there being tons of people everywhere.

Yelp
Llandudno pier is a very old-fashioned, Victorian style pier, which is great. The pier has two entrances - the first begins on the sea front, where all the Victorian-style hotels and houses are, and the second is towards the road that leads up to Great Orme. The two are separated by a fishing tackle shop (where one can book to fish at the end of the pier), a gift shop, a rock shop, a card shop and an amusement arcade, before joining again to meet as one pier. Further up the pier there are little huts selling traditional beach-front fare: a candyfloss stall, a rock stall, a photograph stall and one selling shells and other seaside gits. At there end of the pier there's another amusement arcade in the centre, with a cafe to the right and a bar to the left. Beyond this is the area where people can fish, having paid £3 at the fishing tackle shop. No matter what time of year it is, there is always someone fishing here. The pier is wonderfully traditional and a great treat. It's decorated in blue and white, with wooden beams on the floor and walking back let's you see the whole Llandudno - to the right, the mountain, with 'LLANDUDNO' written on the bank, and to the left, the old-fashioned Victorian beach-front street, all painted in pastel colours.

Yelp
A very sweet pier in a lovely little town. Almost feels like you're going back in time a little. Well worth a visit.

Yelp
The pier is a beautiful Victorian structure, very dilapidated but it looks like they're currently working on it. There's some nice shops, including an amazing picture shop, a football shop, a rock shop and a really nice aromatherapy shop. The cafe at the end is very shabby but the bar opposite it is very cosy and is a great place to sit with a beer to look at the view. Definitely worth a walk along, with beautiful views out to sea and then back to the town.

Yelp
This attractive pier is a lovely place for a walk, with all the interesting little shops along the length and great views back towards the town. It's well preserved and maintained, adding to the Victorian atmosphere of the Llandudno seafront. There's no charge to walk to walk along this pier (unlike some others).

Yelp
A pier that was undoubtedly once the highlight of Llandudno, but has definitely seen better days and now has all the atmosphere of an indoor street market in Birmingham on a wet Wednesday. There's nothing to buy, much less to see and if you look at the water you'll see sunken paper cartons, and even a car.

Yelp
A good old fashioned pier that I always have a walk along. There is a bar at the top end if you fancy a sit down and a beer whilst watching people fish.

Yelp
Memories of the Good Old Days! As a teenager I used to work on the pier (as do many of the local teenagers and students) and I a Child I have many fond memories of the peabodys fair ground, the big slide and the caterpillar train ride! That aside the pier is a beautiful landmark in Llandudno and one of my favourite places. There is something to do for all the family, wonderful Ice Cream kiosks, Souvieneer Shops, Old fashioned Sweet Shops and of course the Kiddies fairground rides. A walk along the Pier is the best way to view the Promenade and the Orme, stunnning views and lots of fun along the way. A Must see attraction

Yelp
A traditional seaside pier here in Llandudno. On a nice summers day you could easily spend a few relaxing hours here and just watch the world go by.Its a nice walk to the end where there are plenty of places for a refreshment or three. There are the usuall seaside stuff for sale along the pier from tee shirts to stuff to remember you r day out there. There is a amusment arcade when you step on to the pier so a good place to leave the kids if you want half hours break from them.Further on up there a little toddlers and kiddies rides to keep the younger members of the family entertained.

Yelp
I remember walking down here when I was just a child. Hasnt changed much at all. Nice to see something has stayed the same. Just a big shame about the pier in Colwyn Bay

Yelp
We had an excellent day out in Llandudno earlier this year, especially as my brother is now in a wheelchair, and the staff on Llandudno pier were excellent, my brother has down's syndrome and so he only has the mind of a child he likes the kiddies rides although he has the body of an adult, it was no problem for the staff and they were only too pleased to make his day happy, however this was slightly spolied by the fact that you need a mortgage for food in the pier cafe, we had a pot of tea and a cream tea each and the price came to nearly £16.00 for 2 people, I found this to be extortionate, it's a shame they have to spoil things by being greedy and milking the holidaymakers and day trippers, however the guy doing the vintage dress with the police box outside his stall did'nt mind whatsoever to the fact that we did'nt want to dress up in silly clothing and did'nt mind at all that I took photographs of my brother stood up leaning against the police box, overall a great day out, shame about the cafe but never mind and the tourist road train that runs from the front of the pier and goes around the town, was only too happy to help me with my brother getting him on and off the road train, which was not easy but we did it with their help, A great day was had by all and I would very much recommend it for a good day out, enjoyable, no immediate parking areas but otherwise very good. the priice tag is for the cafe at the end of the pier only.
