Loved the ice cream at Lloyd’s! We ordered the bubble gum, birthday cake, cookie dough, and salted caramel flavors and all were delicious! Really cool store with lots of candy selection. Very nice staff and quick purchasing process. Recommend!

Google
Sweet tooth alert! Lloyd’s of Avalon has some seriously nostalgic vibes and even more seriously good milkshakes. I tried the caramel shake and instantly forgot about my adult responsibilities. The ice cream is creamy, the vibes are vintage, and if you leave without trying something dipped in chocolate — we can’t be friends. A fun sugar stop on Catalina!

I recently visited Lloyds of Avalon, and it was fantastic. The location on the promenade is great, providing an amazing view. The selection of candy is impressive, with something for everyone. We also enjoyed the food, especially the fudge and ice cream. The combination of the beautiful view, delicious treats, and great location made it a memorable visit. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Google
What ice cream place with 20+ flavors doesn’t offer samples? Half the flavors are kept “in the back” so we can’t see them or taste them? Weird… also their size small was HUGE and they only allow one flavor in the size small. Do not recommend. Used to be wayy better. Woman was mean on top of it all.

Ahmed Alaziz

Google
Good: The ice cream tasted great, and the place was very clean. Bad: They did not offer sample tasting, which was unexpected. Only one flavor was allowed per cup, even though the cup was large enough for more. The staff member was not very friendly or welcoming.

Excellent customer service by Sam! Highly recommend Sam for a promotion. Also appreciated the service of Allie and Oscar. Thank you very much & and see you next time. — a happy customer

Google
I only got two pieces of fudge and it was delicious. They cost me $10 and just enough for two people for two days when craving sweets. The place is full of so many good looking sweets , kids would love it …they even have a big lollipop

James A

Google
Overpriced ice cream and coffee but normal for California these days. If you come in on the cruise ship save your money and spend it onboard.

Yelp
I am so bad at taking pics lately when I go somewhere especially of the food when it's a food related review lol I went to Catalina island for Labor Day and it was a warm day so of course ice cream is something to the rescue Came across this place and it's fun inside for sure with candies and treats everywhere The ice cream I wish they provided samples because I don't like going into a place that offers unique or not the usual flavors and risk not liking something if I go all in on the flavor and end up not liking it I went with the churro flavor and told the lady if it was good she said yes and sure enough it was The place is definitely a little pricey but I suppose it has to be given all things are imported in

Yelp
Visited Lloyds for lattes and pre-brekky the day after the Catalina 50-miler, and it was pretty meh. They were out of several menu items, which happens but is a bit of a bummer. We ordered oatmilk lattes and a cinnamon roll, which was okay but it wasn't the what we came there for. The cinnamon roll is a beauty to photograph, but my wife said that it tasted stale and tossed it after their first bite. The lattes came quickly and were pretty darn average. The only pro to Lloyd's was the convenient location. It's in a central, easy-to-access spot on Avalon, with a walk-up window.

Yelp
I feel bad giving this place two stars considering the people in the store were friendly, but the food, not so much. This desert store sells bulk candy in bags, Mexican candy (which I considered a lovely surprise), fudge, pastries and ice cream. My mom was craving ice cream and I had my eye on the cinnamon roll. So we got them and left and then we tried them and we were sad because we had to throw them away. Cinnamon roll (2/10) - while the portion was big, the bread tasted a little dry and the worst part about it was the icing. It tasted extremely sour, lemon, acidic - reminded me of expired sour cream? that ruined it to be honest. I took two bites of it and then tossed it in the trash. Pistachio ice cream (1/10) - my mom noted that it all tasted very artificial and it melted in less than 5 min despite it being 63 degrees. I Overall, we left feeling disappointed and sad because we really wanted a dessert before we went home.

Yelp
Lloyd's is a Catalina institution. It's been at this location for 85+ years! The salt water taffy pulling machine still mesmerizes visitors, when it's pulling taffy of all different colors. The main attractions at Lloyd's are: the caramel apples (a la mode is the best), ice cream (Dreyer's flavors) and candy (taffy included). I didn't see the taffy machine running this summer when I kept walking past, but It probably was at other times. Kinda wish they updated the inside, either in looks or in products they sell.

Yelp
You came all the way to Catalina and didn't have ice cream at the shop Marilyn Monroe worked at? Why did you even bother to come? They have a huge selection of flavors and so much candy I got diabetes just looking through the storefront window. I appreciate that they always try to get some unusual flavors in stock, not just the same, standard boring ones you'd find anywhere.

Berenice V.

Yelp
Lloyd's was a fun treat to have so close to the beach and our hotel. They have a variety of flavors and cones to choose from. I was disappointed to find that although they serve ice cream and espresso, affogato is not on the menu.

Yelp A.

Yelp
This server was working at the ice cream station and was incredibily rude. She does not like her job and talks to the customers with disrespect. She needs to be re-trained on how to talk to customers and if she doesn't like her job not to take it out on the customers and to just quit.

Abigail U.

Yelp
I ordered a single scoop of cookies and cream and was not a fan of it. The ice cream melted quickly and didn't really taste like cookies and cream.

Teddy T.

Yelp
Customer service needs help here. As a first timer here, I decided to try their mango smoothie. The mango smoothie tasted like sour, over riped mango. For a $10 drink, I was expecting them to remake it or exchange it for a different flavor. Buy at your own risk!!! If you're not happy with your purchase, be prepared to lose money.

Tim V.

Yelp
10 dollars for a half full Root Beer Float and Rite Aid Ice Cream. Very disappointing, go somewhere else.

Valerie Hanich ..

Yelp
5 stars and props to Lloyd's of Avalon staff making it happen for a last minute 40th birthday cake! A sprinkle brownie and a contraband candle made it happen! Thanks so much to the staff for being creative and helping to celebrate a 40th birthday on the island!

Steve O.

Yelp
Staff: They seemed okay Quality/Quantity: Wow, this place has a TON of cool candy options and ice cream. Seems like a pretty popping spot. We grabbed some of their famous taffy and some sour candy. Value: Pricing seems okay. Be aware they charge more for using your credit card. Overall: Great spot that seems to be a local favorite so we'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Came in here last week and was SHOCKED by the prices. $18.00 per pound of bulk candy. This is the exact same candy that you can buy from Von's grocery store just a short walk down the street! At $18.00 per pound, how fresh do you think that candy is? I highly doubt they're selling enough at that price to have a lot of turnover. There is a $5.00 minimum to use a credit card and then they charge a 3.5% surcharge if you use a credit card. It feels like they're nickel and diming people. Espressos and other drinks seem like a deal if you don't factor in the credit card surcharge and minimum - you can't just purchase a hot tea if you don't have cash because it's less than $5. A chai tea on the other hand is $7.00. They sell ice cream, fudge and chocolates. Nothing is marked as gluten free, so as someone with Celiac disease, I didn't purchase any of those things. If you want something sweet, you're better off just walking to the grocery store with the prices that they charge here.

Jacque H.

Yelp
The chocolate ice cream is not sweet. It's supposed to have little chunks of chocolate in it and it does not. The ice cream has slivers of ice in it. It tastes old. I do not recommend this place. It is a waste of money.

Jay P.

Yelp
Ice-cream and candy shop. They have a large selection of ice-cream, candies, and house made chocolates and sweet baked goods such as fudge, peanut brittle, and peanut butter cups. It's crowded and chaotic inside and I think there are separate lines and stations for ice cream, confectionary, and chocolates. My wife was inside for a very long time just to get ice cream because the people at the front where standing in the wrong line. The mass produced candies like gummies and sour gummy rings are individually bagged on the right side, no telling how old they are. It was hot in Avalon so we were there for the ice cream like most people. Rainbow sherbert for the kids: Tasted fine to me, it was slightly too sweet and it hilariously made our kids look like the Joker with huge red rings around their mouth. Chocolate Peanut Butter: There was a very small amount of peanut butter cups mixed in, it tasted like premade chocolate icecream that they added smashed peanut butter cups to but it was hard to tell. From the whole cup I probably only had two spoons that tasted like peanut butter, the rest was pure chocolate ice cream.

Yelp
Cute little coffee spot - opens earlier than the rest, it seems. Nice gals working! Would recommend this spot for good coffee!

Cheyenne G.

Yelp
My daughter wanted to come in here on a Wednesday, however it was closed early. Catalina is dead during the week on off season, so it's not surprising a lot of places close early or don't open at all. We ended up going on Thursday at 11 am. The place itself is incredibly adorable. The workers were friendly, my only issue is the price point. I ordered a latte and every single flavored creamer was 50 cents... so me ordering 4 was 2 dollars, that's a tad extreme. My daughter enjoyed her Horchatta Frappe and I ordered a single turtle pecan fudge (didn't taste as fresh) and she ordered an Oreo Rice Krispie which was fresh and delicious! The surcharge to use card and the price for everything came out to 30 dollars. For two drinks, a fudge, and Rice Krispie.. that is a lot. I understand things are expensive at Catalina (it's an island) I get it ..but compared to all the other places we ate at this was surely expensive.

Emily I.

Yelp
Great hot chocolate and ice cream cones. I had coffee from here one morning and it's definitely not the best coffee on the island. Stick to the sweets here

Teanna E.

Yelp
The cashier was super nice and she greeted everyone when they walked in. They have a lot of various candies available but I was more interested in the ice cream and caramel apples. She was actually prepping prepackaged sourbelts but the moment I stepped up to the register she dropped what she was doing to assist with grabbing us ice cream and caramel apples, she cut them swiftly and she was so clean about it! She wore gloves the entire time when handling food items and replaced her gloves when grabbing cash or card. I appreciate the attention she gave. The only bummer was how dim everything was and the caramel melted off the apples quickly~

Aaron G.

Yelp
Ice cream was so good! Has a big candy selection also inside give it a try! The fresh waffle cone is also somthing you should get too aha

Keith A.

Yelp
Lloyds is conveniently located in the shopping area near the harbor. It has drinks, taffy, and plenty of candy options, and they also have some desserts if you time it right when they are not sold out. The Mocha is ok, better at other locations in Catalina, but the hot chocolate was one of the better ones I have ever had. The prices of the drinks are in line with other stores, and the staff are friendly and nice. This is a popular spot for tourists to stop in and watch the taffy being made.

Yelp
BIZARRE and UNFRIENDLY!!! Yesterday, Dec 20, 2023, we had the doors closed on my wife and kids face at 3:50pm, oddly closing at a random time. On top of that the lady did the cut throat sign to my 12 year old daughter and turned and walked off!?? Today, due to lack of options in the off season, I went with my family to try for ice cream again. This time at 2:50pm they decided to close the doors and lock up as we were coming in. They were short and rude to my kids. My kids all used please and thank you. It felt like we were this imposition being there. My 5 year old son asked for cotten candy ice cream in a cake cone please and she gave it to us in a cup. When I asked can we please get that in a cone, she plopped a cone on top of my 5 year olds cup and walked off. This was multiple employees all with the same strange hateful attitude. I feel bad for whoever owns this place because workers like this will ruin what looks like a cute ice cream shop that I am sure took hard work on the owners part to build up. I hope the owner is able to find kinder folks. All the other places we visited here had kind and welcoming locals. This was definitely a one off for the rest of the shops.

Yelp
OMG I come here to the island annually for the Jazz festival. I do look forward to it. It's been 3 consecutive years and I feel like it's my home. I take the ferry from Long Beach or San Pedro and it's sooo beautiful as the boat glides on the water. Before the festival I hadn't been here , Catalina for years. As a matter of fact I forgot La county had an island. I've begun to make a lot the eateries ones that I must return to and Lloyd's is one of them. My mouth watered for some ice cream before the show. I woke up early so I could get my favorite scoup, pistachio cashew. Friday I had a scoop and the lady explained it had almonds instead of cashews...ummm that's different I thought but it was delicious. So I return today and cheerfully asked for a scoup and I got a scoup with no almonds. I asked the guy where the almonds were and he said they were in there...not ... so I told him I wanted meyeeeeeee almonds. I don't eat pistachio without nuts. ie cashews, almonds, whatever I w a n t my nuts. So he went back and put an addition with a few but nothing like Friday. Geez all that for a nut....oops no pawn intended. Provide Better Lloyd's. If you say there's nuts then have nuts!! So I can return next year. All I wanted was a nut or two

Marjorie U.

Yelp
If you are craving some sweets, then you will love this store. They have candies, chocolates, cakes, coffee, chocolate milk, etc. They are open late at night, and the staff is friendly. I love their dark chocolates with almonds. They don't have a restroom, but it's within walking distance from most hotels and restaurants.

Paulette D.

Yelp
I came in just for the fudge and it's fudgin' good. Got an assortment so my friends and I could split it and have a fudge tasting. Wish I had saved some for just me xD they're a decent size (4 of us split each piece). Definitely need milk on hand. Only downfall is that they do not label the fudge pieces so that's why my photo doesn't list all 6 flavors (I forgot). They were also having a sale: 4 fudge for 2 free. It was $20 for the 6 fudge. FYI fudge is good for about 2 weeks.

Benedict A.

Yelp
On our cruise we stopped by Catalina. And after walking around downtown (tourist part) Avalon, I thought about coming here to get some icecream. Set up here is kind of confusing. You stand in one line for the ice cream, I believe another line for the coffee, and then lastly there's another line to pay. All the while, you can pick up candy and other sweet treats hanging on the walls. Just confusing all around. I ordered their cherry ice cream, 1 scoop in a cone, and it came out to a little more than $5. It was a very generous scoop. With it going all the way in the cone as well as a nice sculpted dollop on top. They had chunks of cherries in it. And it tasted really good. Not overly sweet. But the taste of cherry is throughout. It was a nice little treat as you walk around the streets of Catalina.

Nick H.

Yelp
Candy and Ice Cream The shop offers many different options for a sweet tooth. This includes various flavors of ice cream, milkshakes and candies. Customer service was AOK. More options for cones and waffle cones would be good. I think adding in some fresh homemade icecream would offer a more unique experience.

James H.

Yelp
ALWAYS go here when I'm on the island. It's become a tradition. The employees are great and who doesn't love candy?

Ken A.

Yelp
Little little candy shop in the central area of Avalon. Happened upon this shop walking through Avalon looking for something to satiate my sweet tooth. Lloyd's has candy, chocolate, coffee and ICE CREAM! I opted for an Apple Pie Sundae and I had no regrets. Vanilla ice cream topped with apple pie filling, caramel sauce, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and the cherry on top. Not overly sweet, crisp apples and smooth vanilla ice cream that hit the spot at 9am in the morning :) I mean if you look at it, a sundae is just a full fat yogurt parfait right? Get some! Welp....time for some Lactaid and onto the next!

C B.

Yelp
Gross. Old stale fudge. Half filled waffle cone ice cream. Expensive for what you get. Very disappointed.

Christina C.

Yelp
The caramel apple is pretty tasty! Not the biggest fan of my chocolate s'more, but the apple makes up for it.

Toshi K.

Yelp
I visited Catalina during a cruise stop and bought candy shaped like LEGO blocks. They also had a good variety of ice cream.

Renee Z.

Yelp
Sam is the BEST! What a sweet and funny guy! Made my birthday extra special! The ice cream is good too!

Kelly T.

Yelp
Touristy ice cream/candy shop but the line is shorter than Scoops so this is where we came. Ice cream was good and we got some candy by the pound. Want to try the fudge next time

Joy D.

Yelp
Terrible, unfriendly service. Over priced. Disgusting; there was a fingernail on my sorbet!

Richard L.

Yelp
The Scoops nearby was always full of people but closed on Tuesday. Luckily Lloyd's is still open and we were craving for some ice cream before departing Catalina Island. I got Pistachio with chocolate coated Pistachio and Vanilla on top. It was sun expertly good. Both favor were creamy and balanced. Not overly sweet with touch of that crunchy chocolate coated pistachio. If you are here on the Island should definitely get a scoops or two from Lloyd's of Avalon.

Jenn J.

Yelp
Ice cream is from thrifty's so its good not great and very over priced. Also the guy making my sundae was great, very patient. The check out lady however accused my sister of not paying for an ice cream. Heres what happened. I go to checkout and pay for my sundae with one clerk. My sister pays for 3 ice creams and candy with the clerk standing next to her. Her checkout lady says to her she has 4 ice creams not 3. Shes like what are you talking about. I come back in and let her know she needs to communicate with her coworker before accusing people of stealing ice cream because i literally just paid at the register with the clerk next to her. And she nods her head. Im black and not saying their racist but c'mon thats so rude to assume we arent paying for our items

Jon M.

Yelp
Terrible, unfriendly service. I was trying to buy my 5 year old son ice cream. The other two ice cream shops in town had long lines, but Lloyd's oddly didn't. My son asked to sample two flavors to choose between, but the server said in a fairly disgruntled voice that they don't do samples... sort of strange for an ice cream place, but whatever. My son picks his ice cream and asks for a cake cone. He quickly changes his mind to a sugar cone, but the server either didn't hear him or ignored him and went and got a cake cone. Not a big deal. When she came back and before she scooped the ice cream, I told her that my son changed his mind and wanted a sugar cone. She audibly growled/sighed, but exchanged the cones. She scooped the ice cream and handed the cone over the counter. Before my son could put his hands on the cone to take it from her, she dropped it onto the counter top below, landing ice cream side down. I tried to say something to the server (who obviously knew what she did), but she quickly walked away before I could ask her for a replacement. At this point, my son had scooped up most of the ice cream off the counter and back into his cone with his hands and was eating it. Of course, the server didn't give us napkins or anything, so that was a mess we had to deal with on the way back to our hotel. My son didn't want to wait and the server to make a new cone and the server scared him. So, we paid and left. Not going back there again!

Cathy L.

Yelp
Step into an old word candy shop. Delightful decor that gives a feeling of childhood wonder. The staff is friendly and they greet you with a smile. They have many options plus lots of unique gifts. They have everything from homemade fudge, Salt Water Taffy to Candy Apples and Delicious Ice Cream. I really enjoyed looking around the shop.

Kai G.

Yelp
If you're craving for something sweet, head on over to Lloyd's! They got lots to choose from, candy, fudge, ice cream, cakes, brownies, and more! I enjoyed my ice cream by the beach and just watched the beautiful view.

Collette K.

Yelp
The perfect stop to grab some refreshing ice cream or sorbets while walking around in Avalon!

Saleen D.

Yelp
We got a voucher for this place from our hotel, Hotel Mac Rae, for intercontinental breakfast. They serve breakfast pastries like muffins, danishes, & bagels. They also have coffees & smoothies. The bagels were a little stale & I wish they gave more cream cheese. I love my hot drinks very hot so my Hot Chai Tea was perfect but beware, because my boyfriend literally spit out his coffee because it was too hot. $5 minimum on credit cards.

Sabrina G.

Yelp
This is a must visit shop in Catalina island! This candy shop has a variate of products from candy to ice cream, coffee, fudge, caramel apples you name it, they probable have. The taffy making machine got us to stop and watch how it's made. Definitely recommend visiting this shop!

Kiley S.

Yelp
Ice cream here was our favorite on the island, the chamoyada is a tart and delicious treat on a warm day. Friendly staff!

Julie M.

Yelp
Grew up on Catalina. Visit numerous times a year. All this candy that I was so excited about is stale now. Things are not lookin good. Shape up or ship out.

Eva R.

Yelp
Glad to find something open. Tried ice cream and white chocolate mocha. I guess I'll leave this one as something I've tried.

Yula K.

Yelp
Everyone we spoke to here was kind of rude and did not want to help or answer questions. Prices were high for Dreyers ice cream, and the fudge was just ok. Not the best ice cream place on the island, but the only one open on Thursday's is seems

Esther R.

Yelp
Horrible customer service, still using Covid as an excuse 3 years later, overpriced, bad management!

Maria E.

Yelp
Mmmmmmmmm. Yummy ice cream. Black cherry in a waffle cone rocked my world. The waffle cone was big and tasty. My boyfriend's peanut butter ice cream was delicious as well. Centrally located in Avalon.
